Arena: Seasonal Plain

Seasonal Plain is a rather large field with a medium sized pond in the middle, perfect for Pokemon Battles. There is a Laboratory in the distance. The influence of the experiments from said lab have caused a rather strange effect on the field. On each quarter of the field is a different Season. Each season has it's own affects on the pokemon in it.
Spring: 50% chance of Rainy weather coming into effect.
Summer: Sunny effect.
Autumn:20% chance of blowing over a battler each action.
winter 50% chance of snow, making ice types speed increase 1.5, 50% chance of hail. The pond is frozen solid.
Notes: It takes one action for Pokemon to run from one season into another. Ranged attacks can be fired from one season into the other.

Round Eleven: Begin

Sensing an unfortunate encounter with psychic energy in her future, Seedeth takes the initiative and surrounds herself with a dome of translucent, greenish energy. The barrier is deceptively solid, and the aipom sighs wistfully as she considers how nice an umbrella like this would have been nice back when she was over there in the rainy spring quarter. But no, she only has a chance to use it out here in the sun. Even the snow in the quarter behind her is starting to let up... hmph. Not a terribly useful protect if it can't even protect her from the weather.

...or from Zoe's attack, for that matter, primarily because that attack never comes. Thinking better of trying to hypnotize Seedeth now that the protective barrier is in play, the spoink simply slows her rapid bouncing and settles back for a moment. The corners of her snout twitch up in a smile as she basks in the sunlight, all of her worries and concerns seeming to drift straight out of her head. Nothing like a calm mind and a quick doze on a warm, summer's day...

Seedeth snaps out of her own grumpy thoughts and lowers her barrier, giving it up as a bad job. Perhaps she'll have a better chance of defending herself from Zoe if she tries a double team of her own. So she drops to all fours and begins to dash in a circle, around and around and around until she's flattened a ring in the grass underfoot, with three more aipom falling away behind her as she goes. The four purple monkeys skid to a halt near the edge of the pond and turn their identical grins in Zoe's direction. Let's see her toss me around now! Seedeth thinks, feeling properly smug for the first time in a while.

Zoe fails to see the humor in the situation, and her previously calm expression gives way to one of mild consternation rather than a smile. Picking the real Seedeth from the bunch is going to be difficult, even with her clear head and heightened concentration, but she has to try anyway--if she can get Seedeth to fall asleep, dealing with her and her clones will be much simpler. Deciding in the end that there's nothing for it but to pick one and get lucky, she locks eyes with the leftmost aipom and directs a series of hypnotic waves in its direction. The aipom meets her gaze unblinkingly, but the hypnosis has no effect--not the real Seedeth, then. Darn.

Seedeth is unwilling to wait for a second hypnosis before acting--no sense risking a lucky guess--and darts forward again, her three clones falling in step one after the other. All four aipom vanish from sight, only to reappear mere moments later in a ring around Zoe. Four tailhands lash out, each surrounded by shadowy dark energy, and collide with the startled spoink; only one actually comes into contact with her, and hence the double team strike is not as painful as it would first appear, but Zoe falls to the ground in fright and discomfort all the same. She does her best to fire off another hypnosis while struggling back onto her tail, but what little she is able to manage fails to catch the attention of the real Seedeth (whichever one that is).

Round Twelve: Begin

The first hailstone that hits the snow goes unheard and unnoticed by the two battlers, each too focused on the other to pay the weather in the snow quarter any heed. Seedeth and her clones strike out again, darkness-laced handtails slapping Zoe hard across the face. The spoink reels and topples over, but she collects herself as quickly as she can. She can't show so much weakness if her next trick is going to be effective...

Seedeth doesn't expect to hear anything but whimpering coming from behind her as she and her clones retreat a few paces; Zoe's derisive snort definitely catches her attention. I'd wipe that stupid grin off my face if I were you, taunts the spoink, already back on her tail and doing her best to keep her bouncing calm and not erratic. How many faint attacks is this now? And I'm still here. You and those fake monkeys need to step up your game!

The next faint attack hits Zoe sooner than she'd expected, and the force of the blow nearly sends her skidding back into the spring quarter and its seemingly endless rain. Seedeth, now livid with rage and moving so fast that it almost seems like her clones can't keep up, barely gives the fallen piglet any time to react. Only a hastily-released burst of electricity saves Zoe from another attack for the moment. The shock wave leaves her body before she has time to pick herself up, and the electricity ripples through the air much faster than even Seedeth could hope to move. All three clones are instantly torn apart and the real aipom is thrown back, momentarily stunned.

When Seedeth regains her footing it seems that most of her anger has subsided. Not to hear Zoe tell it, of course--the monkey pokémon dusts herself off and resumes her assault solo, landing yet another faint attack with just as much force as the others. The constant slaps and scratches laced with darkness are taking a heavy toll on Zoe, who is reduced to a slow unsteady wobble when she rights herself again. The pain is giving way to numbness now, the spoink's nerves currently unable to suffer any more.

She refuses to give up all the same, however, and tries once more to meet Seedeth's gaze now that her opponent's head is a little cooler. Hypnotic suggestion would be a lot more difficult if Seedeth were still in a blind rage, but now that she's calmed down--and that there's only one of her, preventing any further confusion--it only takes a little bit of effort to dull the aipom's senses and make her drowsy. Seedeth makes but one attempt to tear her gaze away from Zoe's, and by the time it fails she is simply too tired to continue resisting. Seedeth sinks to her knees and then flops forward onto the warm grass, out cold.

Ref's Notes
-Ruffledfeathers, you are not allowed to edit your post after your opponent has ordered attacks. Not even to correct a typo, and certainly not to change your orders so that they circumvent Psymon's. If your opponent finds a loophole in your commands, you deal with it and move on. I reffed this round using your initial orders instead of the edited ones (hint: mods can see post edit history), and I'm giving you a warning. If you do it again you will be disqualified for cheating.
-Zoe hit the damage cap on the third action.
-rushed and crappy and not proofread in the slightest, but I needed to get this done so there you are.
-Psymon attacks first next round.

Right then. She's asleep, so let's take advantage! Start your assault with Trick Room. Then, if she's asleep, use use Dream Eater for health, but if she wakes up and attacks you, use Psychic. If she Chills or anything like that, you Chill too.

Round Thirteen: Begin

Seedeth is sleeping, and if she's sleeping then she isn't flailing around with more of those awful faint attacks, and if she isn't doing that then Zoe can finally relax. Right? The spoink wants so desperately to take it easy, but the muttering and grumbling coming from Seedeth's direction still makes her uneasy. And with good reason: Seedeth, eyes still shut tight, actually stumbles to her feet while her mumbling increases in volume. Zoe only has time to flinch and throw up her hands before the sleeping aipom is right in front of her and swinging her tail around again--the tail-hand balls into a fist and slams into Zoe's face with punishing force, knocking her back onto the grass all over again. Seedeth gives a loud snore and flops onto the ground where she stands, back to sleeping peacefully again.

Zoe groans as she attempts to regain her footing yet again. The repeated punching and slapping is really taking a toll on her--she's starting to feel dizzy and lightheaded in addition to terribly achy. She has to take several deep breaths and center herself before she can make her next move, and even then she still feels woozy. All the same, her pearl begins to glow a bright blue, and the air around it ripples as though it were water. Thin, bluish strands of energy snake through the air and stretch out across the plain in a matter of seconds, covering summer, autumn, winter and even spring with its last few raindrops in what looks like silvery netting. Almost immediately the atmosphere in the area changes. Zoe smiles weakly as the air itself around her seems to become thinner, letting her bounce up and down with much greater ease.

Wasting no time, Zoe leaves off her construction of the dome of energy and returns her attention to her sleeping foe. Seedeth is still mumbling, but she seems to be much slower to rise--good. More than enough time for Zoe to direct a few invasive waves of psychic energy into Seedeth's brain, fish around for whatever she's dreaming and wick it away. Almost instantly the spoink feels a rush of relief, a little energy finding its way back into her and ever-so-slightly easing her injuries.

The direct invasion of her brain does not seem to sit well with Seedeth, however, and only serves to make the aipom more restless. Her mumbling picks up its tempo, and several orbs of pale, white light seem to spring up around her of their own volition. The orbs spin around Seedeth's body faster and faster the louder she talks in her sleep, and with each revolution they darken into a dull, steely gray. The metal-colored orbs change direction without warning and rocket forward to pelt Zoe, though thankfully they are nowhere near as painful as Seedeth's previous attacks.

Zoe tries again, much more cautiously now that she sees how volatile Seedeth's slumber has become. The rush of energy that comes back to her has all but erased the damage from the monkey's lucky mega punch. Unfortunately for her, it also pushes Seedeth over the brink and back into wakefulness. Seedeth blinks groggily and yawns, inexplicably feeling much worse than she remembered being before she fell asleep. She doesn't bother attempting to stand at the moment, either. There's something... different about the field now, something that feels funnier than before, and she can't quite put a finger on it. She doesn't remember ever feeling so sluggish...

Round Fourteen: Begin

The bizarre, sluggish feeling continues to lean down on Seedeth, who resigns herself to sitting still and watching Zoe through sleepy, lidded eyes. It takes a bit of effort to bring the thin, silvery aura into being around her, and indeed she barely has enough time to manage that before Zoe struggles upright and hops forward a few paces. There is a dullness in the spoink's expression as she tries once again to lock eyes with Seedeth; when the ripples of psychic energy in the air rebound against the silver aura surrounding the aipom and fly back in Zoe's face, the expression progresses to one of drowsiness and then full-blown sleep. It is Zoe's turn to slump forward and snooze on the sun-warmed grass, out like a light and undisturbed by Seedeth's tired giggling or the sound of renewed rainfall pattering against the grass in the spring quarter.

Zoe slumbers on unabated, giving Seedeth enough time to rally herself against the heavy feeling imposed by the silvery dome and move forward. Her tail-hand drips with dark energy for several seconds before the swings it around at the snoring piglet and delivers a nasty swipe; the hit is not quite as painful as Seedeth's earlier faint attacks, and it is not quite enough to rouse Zoe from her sleep, but it drags her forward across the grass for almost a yard.

The hefty smack seems to do more to snap Seedeth out of her daze than Zoe, and so her next pursuit strike is delivered with a great deal more vigor. This time the sudden blast of dark energy rattles Zoe back into wakefulness; the repeated hits leave her too stunned to do much of anything, however, and instead she opts to remain face down and moan into the ground. As if to add insult to injury, the silvery dome she had carefully constructed overhead wobbles fitfully before collapsing and disintegrating mid-fall. Almost immediately the heavy feeling lifts from Seedeth; she still isn't entirely sure what all of that was about, but damn if it doesn't make her feel a little bit less tired. With any luck, it's a sign that she'll have just enough energy to bring the little purple menace down once and for all...

Round Fifteen: Begin

Without her trick room to bolster her agility and her confidence, Zoe is all but a sitting duck. She barely has enough time to prop herself up on one arm before Seedeth disappears in the now all-too-familiar swirl of darkness. There is a sudden, sharp shock as the aipom's tail-hand, swathed in black energy, lashes out and strikes Zoe hard across the back, and then there is nothing. The spoink's arm gives out underneath her and she collapses onto the grass, leaving only Seedeth standing in the summer quarter. Seedeth allows herself a weary smile and shakes her tail-hand heartily with both paws. A job well done, if she does say so herself.

Dave Strider recalls his fallen spoink with a sigh, already having accepted the inevitable several minutes ago, then gives Fluffy bat a lukewarm handshake of his own. The referee looks on impassively; he's just ready to get out of this plain and away from this ridiculous weather. Hail and rain on and off again all the time in the same place, really.
