er yeah if you weren't supposed to see the pokemon yet uh

it's the scientists' faults.

Mmkay, so I choose one of my own Pokemon, and then I get a Plusle to go along with it? Is that how it works? Alright.

So, uh, I choose you, Señor Awesome, and so um... how about a Muddy Water, try to aim for the Unown more than for the Lotad, if you somehow can. If you can't, that's fine. Then I guess an Ice Beam on the Lotad, and then a Rock Slide, which should hit both Pokemon, if I'm not mistaken. That should do a fair bit of damage.

Plusle, you can just use Agility first, to boost your speed, then Charge, then hit the Unown with a good strong Thunderbolt.

Alright you two, we're gonna have some fun with this one. :3

Lily, start things off by poisoning that Plusle with a Toxic, then Energy
Ball the Mudkip for the rest of the round. Shouldn't have to worry about that Rock Slide; since there aren't any boulders readily available.

Unown, you just hammer at the Plusle with Hidden Power Ground.

Lily: Toxic @Plusle ~ Energy Ball @Mudkip x2
Unown Hidden Power (Ground) @Plusle x3

Zeta Reticuli, use the Attack Guide for things like these. It's great.

Also, I know you can do this. Remember, you're a drug! And what is Walker? Walker is just - Walker is just a guy!

I'm rooting for you, Zeta.

Oh, thanks, MD, I really wish I had seen that thread sooner. :P

Um, if it's okay with you, Kusarigamaitachi, I'd like to change the Muddy Water to a Water Pulse at Unown, and then the Rock Slide to another Ice Beam at Lotad. So it would be:

Water Pulse @ Unown / Ice Beam @ Lotad / Ice Beam @ Lotad

If I'm not allowed to change my orders, that's fine too. I don't really expect to win this battle, anyway. I just kind of want to learn from my mistakes. Like I just did. D:

You can't change your orders. Also, next time use ~ to separate actions. / is used for conditionals (Water Pulse or Ice Beam rather than Water Pulse and then Ice Beam).

That's fine, I didn't expect you to let me change orders. Anyway, I'll go back and change all the slashes to tildes now.

EDIT: done.

Pretty much your bog standard, 'battle field in a building' appearance wise. There are a few scientists outside the rectangular border of the arena, nothing special. What is special is that the trainers here only get to use one of their own Pokémon for the battle. The other is provided by the Factory (by which I mean, one of a species randomized by the ref) and is returned at the end of the battle.

The referee enters the large, rectangular room, following a handful of scientists and moping about its failure to swipe even one of the hundreds of pokéballs it saw outside. It walks across the hexagonal tiles, and looks around the arena to figure out what kind of place it’s in. The room is identical to all the other rooms it managed to get lost in: large, with a high ceiling allowing for either extremely tall pokémon that have yet to be discovered or flyers (the former, definitely the former) and orange paint showing the ideal boundaries of the arena. A bisected rectangle, with a pokéball design in the centre – it’s the same design as any arena specifically for trainer battles.

In one of the two rooms outside the arena, Walker is led by a scientist around shelves filled with pokéballs, but the scientist suddenly stops him in the middle of the room and tells him to wait there. The scientist walks over to a shelf and picks one of the pokéballs, looks it over, and puts it back. Instead, he takes another one, and tosses the ball on the floor in front of him. An unown materialises in the air, and Walker is given the specially-marked pokéball in case the unown faints. A similar situation plays out in a similar room on the other side of the arena, though Zeta Reticuli receives a plusle instead.

Walker and Zeta Reticuli take their places just behind the rectangle’s outside borders, taking note of the other’s pokémon. The referee, taking note of their arrival, steps up to a third side of the borders while the scientists hang further back, close to the walls. Two settle down on the floor while others choose to observe the battle standing up. The referee declares the battle’s rules, confirms the pokémon squads, and declares the battle order.

The unown and plusle move toward the centre line, just on the line of the inner circle of the pokéball. Walker selects a pokéball from his belt, and a lotad materialises on the unown’s side of the field. Zeta Reticuli counters with his own water-type, a confident-looking mudkip, and calls out his orders. Walker, smirking, does the same, and also points out a problem in Zeta Reticuli’s orders. At Zeta Reticuli’s response, a scientist reveals himself as an experienced battle well-known among the league, expressing his confidence and giving Zeta Reticuli a handy booklet detailing every attack the league acknowledges the existence of. The pokémon, almost miraculously, wait until the humans are done… but no longer.

Plusle immediately starts running around the other three pokémon, moving too quickly for them to see. He makes several circles around them before Unown can even think of drawing out its inner power, and stops roughly in the same position as where he started. His newly-loosened-up muscles make it easier to move, and he’s even faster than before – although, judging by everyone else’s reactions he’s already much faster than they are.

The other three pokémon stare and/or blink at him, shocked by this display of speed and perhaps somewhat intimidated. Unown recovers first, drawing out the energy hidden deep in its body and soul. Brown orbs of energy appear around it, swirling around it. They swirl faster and faster, hiding Unown behind a curtain of dancing lights and hiding the glow around its body. Then the orbs fly at Plusle in a beam of swirling orbs, slamming into its stomach and drawing a cry of pain. Plusle whimpers, rubbing its stomach.

Senor Awesome puzzles over his current orders, not really recognising the move’s name. It sounds sort of familiar, like he’s heard of it, but he doesn’t know the move itself. Grumbling, he continues standing where he is as Lily draws various toxins from her body. She brings it to her mouth, making a face at the horrible taste, and spews out an almost black mixture of wastes, spitting it against Plusle’s side and stomach. Plusle yelps, automatically covering his face although the toxins barely splash his cheek. The poison continues to drip off his side and onto the floor, and he stares at it with disgust. It doesn’t feel like anything yet, but it looks nasty and horribly dirty.

Plusle, deciding he can probably wash it off later, closes his eyes and gathers electrical energy. He sparks dangerously around his entire body, and the sparks become brighter and stronger as he generates and stores more and more electricity. The static continues to build up in his fur, and as he stops charging, a few sparks still appear with every movement.

Swirling orbs of brown energy appear around Unown, orbiting it faster and faster and hiding it from view. It glows, still staring at Plusle, and the orbs rocket toward Plusle in a beam of swirling orbs. The beam strikes Plusle’s stomach again, setting off more sparks that neutralise some of the orbs, but this time Plusle manages to hold in his shout of pain. He glares at Unown, fully intending to make it pay.

Senor Awesome chirps more cheerfully now that he has a command he knows how to follow. He opens his mouth as wide as he can, pointing in Lily’s general direction. A tiny blue, glowing dot appears in his mouth, and the dot grows into a larger orb of pale blue light. Then a beam of blue energy suddenly shoots out toward Lily, making her gasp at the sudden blast of icy energy. The beam leaves some frost on the side of her face and leaf. Thin shards of ice fall off her face while others cling to her more stubbornly.

Lily glares at Senor Awesome, though her glare gives way to a smirk. A glowing green dot appears, hovering above her lily pad. Like the Ice Beam before it, the dot grows into a large green orb, though much brighter and more difficult to look at. Plusle and Senor Awesome both have to squint at the bright light, and Senor Awesome is unprepared when the ball flies at him and strikes his forehead and sensitive fin, forcing him onto his hind legs for a moment. He returns to standing position with a shake of his head, scowling now.

Plusle sparks brilliantly, surrounded by crackling electricity and even more blinding than Lily’s energy ball. A large bolt of electricity leaps from his body and toward Unown, frying its flat body. It doesn’t make a sound, but it shudders violently under the assault. Plusle grins, but Unown stares back and once again surrounds itself with a curtain of dancing brown lights. Plusle’s grin fades as he realises exactly what’s coming, and braces himself for the attack. As expected, a swirling beam of orbs strikes his stomach, and he grits his teeth, refusing to give Unown the satisfaction of hearing him scream.

Senor Awesome, seeing that no rocks are in sight, closes his eyes and tries to draw rocks from beneath the floor, nearly grunting with effort. However, nothing appears; there isn’t even a sound implying that something crashed into the floor. As he continues trying to summon rocks, a brilliant green ball of energy grows over Lily’s leaf. She takes her time taking in natural energy from the world around her (although the likely sources aren’t visible, it’s still there) – she isn’t worried about being attacked, and Senor Awesome looks comical in his futile attempt to attack. With a growl, the energy orb rockets at Senor Awesome, this time striking his forehead more directly. This draws another grunt, though from surprise and pain this time, and he opens an eye to glare at the source. Lily smirks back.

You're joking.

I could have sworn I looked it up and they did. D: Not that it really matters anyway, as the alternative would have been Surf, and that would have failed.

Okay, Plusle. The Unown's going to hit you hard, but even without Agility you're a lot faster than it. So just give me three Thunderbolts, as quick as you can. Aim for Lotad, as I'm a lot more worried about him than I am about Unown.

SO UM. Señor Awesome, I'm sorry about being a pathetic trainer. D: Anyway, since we know Ice Beam works, hit Lotad with three of them.

.: Actions :.

Though Plusle would rather attack the unown, he’s annoyed at Lily too; she did, after all, spew all sorts of nasty stuff on him, and it’s still dripping off his body. Sparks fly off his body and surround him as he charges up an attack. Although he crackles with static as dangerously as before, he is barely half as luminous. The electricity suddenly leaps off his body in a concentrated bolt of electricity and strikes Lily’s leaf. Lily yells as the electricity courses through her body, zapping every particle on its way to the ground, and shudders. As the last of the electricity reaches the ground, however, it leaves more than just a scorch mark on her leaf: suddenly, Lily finds herself too stiff to move.

The newly-named Wrinkle (who is quite sure it doesn’t have any) summons more of the same dancing lights to orbit its body. It can barely be seen behind the curtain of lights, only allowing glimpses of its body to be seen, but it’s enough for a split second’s warning before it glows and looses the attack. The swirling beam strikes Plusle’s side this time, as he was facing Lily, and he grunts as he is hit. He grabs at his side and glares at Wrinkle, who stares back impassively.

Senor Awesome opens his mouth, charging up an orb of ice energy that grows in his mouth. He fires a beam from the surface of the orb, which blasts Lily’s face with the cold. A thin layer of ice, just a bit more than before, is left behind on her face. Though she can’t move a muscle, she is relieved to find that she can still draw energy from the surrounding area into an orb above her leaf. She doesn’t have to worry much about aiming, as she’s already facing her opponent, so she just charges the orb and fires it straight at Senor Awesome, slamming the orb into his face. Senor Awesome yells in both physical pain and the shock of something so blindingly bright burning into his eyes. He still sees spots of light when the orb disappears.

Crackling with more electricity, especially around his cheeks, Plusle glares at Wrinkle, wishing he could loose it at Wrinkle instead. The electricity continues to build up, and he continues glaring at Wrinkle until the last moment, when he finally gives in and looks at Lily to aim and fire. The electricity leaps onto her leaf, burning it somewhat and discharging into her body. Wrinkle, too, repeats its previous action, drawing out its inner power. Orbs of elemental energy orbit it, and it starts to glow. This time, when the beam strikes Plusle, he can’t restrain his cry of pain. He doesn’t feel nearly as good as he did at the start of the battle. There’s a strange feeling in his throat, too, as if he could throw up, but he isn’t about to any time soon.

A sphere of blue energy grows in Senor Awesome’s mouth, and once again looses it straight at Lily’s face. The sheer cold of the energy freezes the moisture in the air while moving it along, leaving a slightly larger, but just as thin, crust of ice on Lily’s skin. Despite the cold, Lily finds that she can actually move a bit easier, though that isn’t really necessary. It’s more comfortable, anyway; she shifts a bit as she charges a ball of grass energy above her scorched leaf, casting green light all around the room. Then the ball rockets forward and into Senor Awesome’s forehead. He yells as it singes his sensitive fin, and gasps when the attack is over.

The third exchange of attacks since the trainers last spoke is almost exactly the same as the two previous. Plusle charges up electricity, and is unable to prevent some electricity from discharging from his cheeks before he’s ready to loose the attack. The wasted electricity is not much compared to the large bolt that leaps from his body to Lily’s, burning and zapping her as before. The elemental energy surrounding Wrinkle doesn’t get more interesting, though it does fill Plusle with a sense of dread. The swirling beam strikes his side again. He yells and stumbles back, almost falling off his tiny legs. The pain is mostly concentrated around his stomach and one side, but the repeated strikes are starting to wind him.

Senor Awesome fires another beam of freezing energy, freezing more moisture on Lily’s face. This time, it has the added effect of pushing Lily backward; she, too, is not as able to withstand the attack as before, being in so much pain. It doesn’t help that her muscles have once again locked up, but she feels the same pain Plusle does – if anything, it’s worse. She was feeling great before Zeta Reticuli spoke, and now she isn’t sure how much longer she can continue. She has her revenge, however, by throwing another ball of burning grass energy at Senor Awesome’s face, ensuring that he feels exactly the same way. It may be worse for him, because all of the pain is concentrated around his head – but then again, Lily’s entire body is practically her head, anyway.

Wrinkle, the least injured of the pokémon, stares at Plusle quietly. It is just about prepared to draw out more of the same energy, predicting that it will be ordered to repeat its previous actions: same attack, same type, same target.

.: Actions :.

Plusle sparks with electricity, especially around his cheeks, but the static crackles all over his fur, too. The sparks are only a fraction of the energy he’s trying to store, as the electricity seen is the electric energy that’s escaping from his fur, but it still makes him look highly dangerous – just a touch might discharge the electricity into another pokémon’s body. Wrinkle and Lily are both quite wary, having both been subject to powerful electric shocks, but they can hope the other pokémon will be the target – they have no true loyalty toward each other.

Wrinkle charges up another Hidden Power, then looses the beam at Plusle. Plusle snarls in pain, but the beam hurt just a little less than before, so he thinks he might be able to tolerate it. Senor Awesome, hoping that this won’t attract the attention of the opponent that has paid no attention to him so far, draws water into his mouth. Then he screams, shooting rings of water that splatter in Wrinkle’s sensitive eye. Said eye, unable to blink away the water, turns to Plusle with an eerie, terrifying glare. Unnoticed by all, Lily remains on the spot, unable to draw poisons to her mouth or move at all.

Sparks fly from Plusle’s fur again, much more than usual, as he charges up even more electricity. The stored electricity in his fur joins with the electricity being charged, giving Plusle a brilliant aura of electricity for the single moment before he looses the electric energy at Wrinkle. Wrinkle makes no sound as the electricity courses through his body, though he shudders. Simultaneously, Lily sighs and Plusle smirks, pleased to have gotten his revenge. His smirk, however, disappears when another beam of earth energy swirls toward him, striking him painfully and burning into his skin.

Senor Awesome glances at Lily, trying to make the difference in their health motivate him to attack her with as much strength as he can. There isn’t much of a difference, though, so his tackle is half-hearted and barely hurts at all. If it wasn’t for how much she was already hurting, she’d probably barely notice, but she does wince. She shifts on the ground, which is Senor Awesome’s only warning that Lily can move properly before a glowing green orb of energy leaps from her leaf and into his face, burning it even more.

Plusle charges up more electricity and sends it toward Wrinkle, who can’t stop it from arcing through the air and striking it once more. Wrinkle’s shudder is harder this time, although it’s impossible to determine its real emotion, it sports several electrical burns on its body. It’s happy to get its revenge, though, with another Hidden Power that gives Plusle more burns of his own. Both glare at each other, but it’s obvious that Plusle is more injured; he’s hunched over from the pain, although Wrinkle is floating a bit lower than usual.

Now Senor Awesome is motivated to make Lily hurt, and he backs away only to rush at her again, too quickly for her to react, and slamming his body into hers. Lily is pushed back, actually feeling her legs leave the ground for a few heart-stopping moments until she lands again. She is once more barely able to move, though she manages a twitch. She doesn’t have anything to do, she suddenly realises, but she would’ve preferred doing nothing more comfortably. The paralysis almost hurts – though not as badly her poison is hurting the cause of paralysis, she realises – and the feeling of being so totally helpless is doing nothing for her nerves.

With all four pokémon looking beaten with various injuries, none expect the battle to continue much longer.

The other is provided by the Factory (by which I mean, one of a species randomized by the ref) and is returned at the end of the battle.

.: Actions :.

Sparks fly from Plusle’s cheeks as he charges up another Thunderbolt, and surrounds him in an aura of dangerously crackling electricity. The electricity leaps at Wrinkle, sending it in spasms as the electricity courses through its flat body. It retaliates with a Hidden Power infused with ground-type energy, burning into Plusle’s poison-drenched skin. This time, the force throws Plusle on his side, and he screams in pain from the ground. He feels too weak to get up, which would severely aggravate his injuries, so he merely shivers from where he is, gasping for breath.

Senor Awesome draws water from within his body, and the water flows into his throat. He draws the water to his mouth, staring at Wrinkle, and spits it out while screaming. The rings of water splash against Wrinkle’s eye, and the sound waves bounce off its body. It shudders, but it doesn’t have to take revenge – Lily does it for him by hurling a ball of sizzling green energy against Senor Awesome’s side. Senor Awesome, too, falls over after the hit, although he tries to get up.

Plusle can hardly even make that effort; it took all of his energy just to push itself onto its back so it can see. Staring at Wrinkle, who is just barely within his sight, he draws electricity to his cheeks. Blue and white and yellow sparks fly from his cheeks, and tendrils of electricity reach outward, crackling. The electrical power increases sharply as he looses it into the air, surrounding him with pure electricity. The electricity arcs through the air, bearing down on Wrinkle. Wrinkle shudders, much harder than before, and drifts slowly downward toward the ground.

It is in as much pain as Plusle, but it’s not out yet, Plusle realises, heart skipping a beat. Wrinkle’s eye seems to glint with an evil light, although it may just be the reflecting of the dancing orbs swirling around him once more. Plusle closes his eyes tightly, as if it would prevent him from feeling the attack, but to no avail: the orbs slam into him with as much force as before, drawing a final scream… before Plusle’s muscles relax and he goes totally limp.

Senor Awesome is there to avenge his comrade, however. During the exchange between the rentals, he has managed to slowly, painfully, get onto his feet. His cheeks bulge with water, which he promptly shoots at the unown. Rings of water and high-pitched sound waves assault Wrinkle’s battered body, hurling Wrinkle backward. With a final shudder, Wrinkle gives Senor Awesome one last blank stare before swaying and falling to the ground, open eye facing the ceiling.

Lily, greatly enjoying being totally ignored, shapes grass energy into a bright green sphere above her leaf. The sphere glows as if it were the sun, casting light and dancing shadows on the floor around her. Senor Awesome’s eyes widen as he sees the green light, knowing exactly what it means. Despair rises up in him. He looks at Lily, in no condition to dodge – and they both know it.

Their eyes meet, and the sphere of grass energy hurtles toward him. It crashes into his face, mercilessly stinging at his skin. He tries to open his mouth to scream, but the energy simply burns the inside of his mouth, too.

Senor Awesome falls over onto his side as before, but this time he doesn’t get up.

Three beams of red light shoot out at the unconscious pokémon, each beam drawing a pokémon back into their respective pokéballs. Lily smiles, and would likely cheer, but her paralysis takes this time to act up; she’d like to jump for joy, but she can’t move a single muscle. Another recall beam swiftly returns her to her pokéball, too, after a word of praise.
