• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Things to do during the summer

But indoor rockclimbing is an on-the-wall activity :DDDDDDDDD I'd say camping or hiking, too. Or, if getting to the beach is a possibility, snorkeling/scuba diving and bodyboarding/surfboarding are fantastic fun, especially with friends. And then you can have a barbecue on the beach!

    POSITIVE BODY FEATURES THREAD

Re: POSITIVE BODY FEATURES THREAD II I was just thinking of just physical appearance stuff and I forgot! Of course I love that I'm left-handed, it's because left handed people are the best people. We have daily oppression (doors, cameras, pencil sharperners) but we OVERCOME and are brilliant...

    POSITIVE BODY FEATURES THREAD

Re: POSITIVE BODY FEATURES THREAD II Ahahaha, I didn't even look at the old thread. lololol. Like I said in the old thread, I have decent feet, too. And, for something original, I like my teeth. They are nice and straight and white and it's all because of meeeee~ Genetics probably count for...

    POSITIVE BODY FEATURES THREAD

Re: POSITIVE BODY FEATURES THREAD II I like my scars because they make me look fierce and my wonky arm because if I'm ever murdered and buried in a wood somewhere and my skeleton is dug up by a dog ten years later, Bones and her team will be able to ID me no problem. And they make me feel...

    NaNoWriMo

My sister always has a ton on in November, so has her own GrabbyNo in the summer, where she cracks out 50000 words over 30 days (this year, I beleive, from mid-June to mod-July). Although it's probably easier to do it in November because then you've got encouragement from other people doing it...

I find it a bit disappointing, because whenever anybody talks about SJA (Social Justice Activism/Activists), my first thought is of the Sarah Jane Adventures.

The QUILTBAG Club (formerly the LGBT club)

Urk. Signed the petition. Stuff like that's an awful reminder of how, while things aren't perfect in the UK, they could be a whole ton worse. Well done, that's excellent! Best of luck with the job-hunt and parents. You can do it!

My parents raised me to be a massive communist, so I think the internet was just the icing on my very socially liberal cake. And I might be taking much more credit than is due, but while I myself have been influenced by delightful online places like this, I've done my fair share of corrupting...

Gender Trouble is a pretty excellent book, although a lot of people find Butler incredibly hard to read. She has some absolutely brilliant stuff to say about gender performativity, but you might be better off reading some reactions to her work (this is a nice summary, with some useful but rather...

    Euthanasia

If I were terminally ill and in a ton of pain, I'm sure I'd want to be euthanised, and on an individual basis I couldn't bring myself to oppose it, but I am so very, very wary of actual legalisation. My mother's said that she hopes that when she's old and useless she can kill herself rather...

UH LONDON EXPO + OTHER PEOPLE IN THE GENERAL AREA NERDS

Right, right! Sorry! I'm in Canterbury, in my student house, pretty much the entire time you are in the UK, and you're welcome to stay with me. Butterfree's here now! And will be until the Expo! I think there might be an invade-Mhals-in-Oxford plan for a day or two at some point (opal and Cirrus...

The QUILTBAG Club (formerly the LGBT club)

In my experience, people who're deliberately mean are desperately insecure individuals. I know a few people who feel big by making others feel small, and they have some family issues that aren't their fault, but that doesn't make being a bully anything other than deeply unattractive. Was...

HELLO! :D Oh, it's good to see you back! And I'm so, so pleased everything's going well for you, it's excellent you'll be going to NYU, and I hope everything's okay with your parents.

    Parodies

Hee, came here to post this. Love it! Oh, and ACTUALLY, I guess Horrible Histories songs count (they're pastiches rather than straight-up parodies, but...): Charles Darwin explaining natural selection to David Bowie's 'Changes' The life of Cleopatra through the medium of Lady Gaga Charles II...

Catholicism jokes don't work in a Scottish accent D: In fact, just talking about Catholicism in anything other than an Irish accent feels wrong. I guess because everybody was the same age as me (or younger), people were always so nice about the wackiness/lolrandomness I came out with. I...

    The "Fwee" Thread

Re: The "Fwee" Thread, Mk. IV That is a pretty great hat. I'm pleased that it's finally stopped raining every day! We have some sunshine now, which means I can sit in my hammock :D

I wrote the most ridiculous fanfiction. And made up fake Pikachus. And was horribly n00b-ish, but so was everybody else because they were 10 years old too.

    BREAKFAST SPREADS

Marmite's selling point in the UK is that it's an acquired taste. Their slogan is famously 'You either love it or hate it' (current ad), and "marmite" is a colloquialism that means something divisive. The spread itself is yeast extract, the black goo left over from the fermentiation process, and...
