• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    Is Chess a Sport?

Well, you do have to stand up for ages. And I imagine the rifle isn't that light. But yes. Things like shooting and archery are much more about concentration than physical ability, so if you're accepting that sport can revolve around that, there's no reason to exclude chess.

Speaking of Eleven - has there been any talk about whether or not Matt Smith is staying on for a fourth series?

    Pokémon Basalt and Granite

Re: Pokémon Basalt and Granite Not really. Mountains are pretty icy everywhere, so long as they're high enough.

Oh yes. Dr. Strangelove is my favourite comedy.

    Suggest Movies for Me

Inglourious Basterds is easily Tarantino's best film, but then I am not as enamoured of Pulp Fiction as lots of people seem to be. I'll try recommend some stuff that's a little different to what you have so far. My favourite director is Sofia Coppola, and I would heartily recommend Lost in...

    What are you reading? II

I have just rushed through Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies by Hilary Mantel, which put all other historical novels to shame.

    Doctor Who Club

So, Toby Whithouse for next showrunner, anyone? He can certainly do characters. Also. What do you guys think of the recurring elements in the first three episodes? We've had lightbulbs (dead and/or flickering), eggs, and Christmas. The last is a touch tenuous, I admit, but it might simply point...

    If you had a tail...

I have spent literally hours of my life pondering this question, and have determined that my ideal tail would be a snow leopard's tail. (A close second is any kind of prehensile tail). I have an entire head-canon of what AU-with-tails would be like, too. It's fun to think about. :D

    what languages do you speak?

I would argue that it is more important for the small children in question to understand me.

    what languages do you speak?

My native language is Slovenian, but I speak English (specifically, a hybrid of Australian and British English) quite a lot better. Once upon a time I could hold a conversation in German, but that got lost somewhere along the way. Also, I can say "I eat small children" in Japanese.

In Progress The Fox and the Primrose (The Hunger Games)

I don't think "it's not clear to non-fans" is an entirely fair criticism of fanfiction. Is the majority of Pokemon fanfiction clear to non-fans?

"Morals. They are a funny thing. I don't get why we evolved them because it doesn't seem beneficial to survival of a species." Actually, the origins of biological altruism are quite well understood in evolutionary theory. Just saying.

    What are you reading? II

I have! They are some of my favourite books of recent years. I tend to stay away from fandoms of things I like, though, is it really that bad? (I should admit, though, that I find Denna horribly boring. :D)

    University Majors

Anything with strong links to evolutionary theory; evo-devo looks interesting, and I'm doing something vaguely related this summer, but then I also like straight-up whole animal biology like behavioural ecology. So I'm really not sure. :P

    University Majors

There's no need to get a degree specifically in ethology. It's much easier, and probably more helpful, to do a general biology degree and specialise in topics that interest you as you progress - and that allows you to change direction if you discover ethology isn't really for you.
