Eifie vs. Skylark

Hiikaru

Run.
Pronoun
he
2vs2 double
DQ: Standard week
Damage Cap: 50%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, perish song, chills limited to 5 per pokémon, direct healers limited to 1 per pokemon
Arena: The backstreets of Asber

The backstreets of Asber are somewhere near the black market. Frequented by the somewhat shadier citizens, this is where pokemon are made to fight without regulation. Broken crates and closed doors litter these particular streets, and darkness envelopes the area. Condemned old buildings overlook the streets, and children are usually told to avoid this area at all costs. Over the years, this area has earned a reputation similar to that of Knockturn Alley (Harry Potter).

Other: Fully-evolved pokemon aren't allowed.

Okay! \o/ Time to make your debut, Plum Seed and... ... ... Professor Plum, who I forgot to give a real name. I was going to call Hoppip Plum for short :c I guess you two are just meant to be a team!

Hikaru, what scale do you use?

Persephone, if sunny day is in play, rain dance. If a taunt is coming your way, protect. If Fondue used protect or ice beam, however, send an ice beam towards Plum Seed. If these conditionals leave you with nothing to do, do a rain dance. If both your opponents are protecting, do a rain dance. On the second and third actions, if at any point sunny day is active, use rain dance. If you get the chance, safeguard as soon as possible. If you can't use safeguard or it is active already, ice beam Plum Seed unless she's protecting. In this case, use rain dance or safeguard (whichever one isn't active)

Fondue, on the first action, water spout unless sunny day is in play. If it is, wait for Persephone to use rain dance before using water spout. However, if sunny day is active, Plum Seed is moving before Persephone, and Plum Seed is absorbing sunlight (you do know what solarbeam looks like), use protect. If Professor Plum is protecting however, use Ice beam on Plum Seed. If on the second action, you haven't been hit by two attacks (two separate attacks mind you, not something like two hits from fury swipes or something that hits multiple times), the weather isn't sunny, and Professor Plum isn't protecting, water spout once more. However, if you used water spout and can't use water spout because you're tormented, or if a condition for you not to use water spout is fulfilled (except the one involving protect),send a hydro pump towards Professor Plum. If a sunny day is in play or if Professor Plum is protecting though, ice beam Plum Seed. However, if the conditions for you not to use hydro pump and water spout are met and you can't use ice beam because of being tormented, go back to water spout. Same deal for the third action. If your conditionals cause you to have nothing to use, do hydro pump.

If there are clones about, sweep your attacks around (if applicable) or hit the clone with a shadow.

Well that was long. ._.

You can do it, team Plum! \o/

Plum! Seed. Wait until everyone else has moved and get as close to Professor Plum as you can, then get rid of Persephone's rain with a Sunny Day! After that, you'll be way faster than everyone else, so aim a Solarbeam at Fondue, then stay behind Professor Plum. (Well, if you could get behind him right away before using Sunny Day and then just peek out to use Solarbeam, do that.) Keep your leaf-things down; they seem to like double your height. On your last action, wait until Fondue and Persephone have both attacked (or tried to) before you move away from Professor Plum, then hit Fondue with Solarbeam again.

Plum Seed: wait and Sunny Day ~ Solarbeam @ Fondue and get behind Professor Plum ~ wait and Solarbeam @ Fondue

Professor Plum, things will be harder for you this round. :c Start this battle off by Attracting Fondue. Hopefully that'll help keep you safer from those mean attacks! Especially Water Spout. Then you're going to need to get in front of Plum Seed and do your best to cover her. She's pretty small (not that you're that much bigger in terms of height, but that's only one dimension and it's including her leaves), so hopefully it should be fine. Since you two should've been really close together, you should still have time to Taunt Persephone (you might have to be a bit louder so that she can hear you? I don't know.) before she uses another Rain Dance. Now you're going to have to take four Ice Beams for Plum Seed! Wow protecting your teammate like that aren't you brave...! Why would Fondue want to contribute with two of those. I'm sure she's totally enamoured by you. Once that's over, you can finally get away from Plum Seed, so why don't you use Faint Attack to strike Fondue from behind while she's being hit by Plum Seed's Solarbeam. You'll be super-sneaky so she won't see you coming, and she'll be too busy getting hit by Solarbeam to notice you there, so she'll still be totally infatuated with you and it'll be fine!

----------------------------------------

- Round Start -

A fire Pokemon, Fondue noted to herself, and a plant Pokemon! She could take out both of those all on her own, and then with Persephone's help, well - they wouldn't know what hit them. She loved battling with a type advantage (or a sort of type advantage due to her moves), it was so easy! All the good feelings of winning without growing so tired from the effort of battle that one could hardly appreciate the win. She fought back a grin as she made to move forward before being hit by a stream of airy hearts. Stopped in her tracks, Fondue spun in the direction of the hearts, and then she saw him. Standing in a pool of light and sparkles was a beast the likes of which she had never before known, every inch of it powerful and glistening, from the perfectly pointed tips of its claws to the sleek black fur that perfectly decorated its form. The Houndour made a beckoning motions with its tail, displaying a smile so brilliant Fondue felt as if she might faint. She swayed momentarily, but with a great force of will, tore her eyes away from the beauty. This was a battle! They could talk afterward. Yes, that's exactly what she would do - for some value of "talk", anyway... Fondue had to spend some more of her willpower to pull herself back to reality from the oh-so-tempting images that danced through her head. She would spend this battle showing him how tough she was in her own right, and then he would have to notice her... although, possibly he already had, that smile - no. It could only help to impress him. Closing her eyes as she turned back in his direction so that she wouldn't instead run toward him, Fondue took a deep breath and shot out a spray of water that made her ears ring from the roaring of it. That would show him how tough she could - oh, no. Oh no. Her beautiful Houndour was laying sprawled on the ground, and he let out a choke of pain as his partner - a wide-eyed Hoppip - padded over to prod gently at his side. What had she done?

"Oh, stop it," Plum Seed grumbled at Professor Plum, pushing on him with one front paw. "Get up, you big lump, it couldn't have hurt that much."

"Oh, I know," Professor Plum said quietly, flashing her a toothy grin before letting out an over-the-top cry of pain so obviously false it was a wonder the Wartortle didn't realize it, too. "But she doesn't."

Plum Seed rolled her eyes, not bothering with any of a series of retorts that sprung to mind - that silly, arrogant Pokemon would only say that she was jealous. Jealous of a Pokemon who could only get fake admirers? Jealous of a false attraction? As if! Patiently she listened to Professor Plum alternately moan and brag (the latter quietly so that the Wartortle couldn't hear, which Plum Seed found unfair), her eyes trained on the Chansey, Persephone. Slowly Persephone started a kind of hoppy dance that looked completely ridiculous performed by something so round - or maybe it would look ridiculous no matter the performer, with all that jumping and skipping - and the instant Persephone became still, Plum Seed felt first a pawful of raindrops on her leaves, and then quickly a full-blown drizzle that left her with a kind of irritating buzzing in her ears. Professor Plum mumbled something about rain being a great backdrop to his pain, but Plum Seed tuned him out, focusing on her own, more elegant spinning dance. She sent her hopes to the sun as she turned in place, and just as quickly as the rain had started, it was over. The sun brightened, chasing away the rainclouds with its warm light. Plum Seed couldn't help smiling up at it. Sunlight always felt extra-good after a bit of rain - even if her partner was now complaining about it - and she felt quick and full of life with the heat of it.

Poor Plum Seed just didn't understand the world of love. Or rather, the world of acting-love, or play-love, which Prefessor found much more enticing than real-love. It was so much more interesting flirting and playing, rather than being stuck with the same partner forever. He never played with intent to hurt anyone, of course! Unless it was a battle. Which this was, and that was why he felt only a twinge of sympathy as he watched from his vantage point on the ground as his Hoppip friend swiftly struck the tips of her leaves together, where a ball of powerful light came sparkling into existence. She swung the leaves forward and the light sphere flew straight at the Wartortle he'd been set to target. Actually, she was rather pretty, in a way... Perhaps he'd see fit to apologize after this battle, make amends... Professor Plum casually angled himself in front of Plum Seed, watching Wartortle shriek in surprise as she tumbled backward from the Solarbeam. Now it was his turn! Professor Plum grinned up at Persephone. "Nice dance!" he called sarcastically across the alleyway, enjoying the look on the Chansey's face as it turned to stare at him in confusion. "I liked the part where you stumbled." No such thing had happened, but it didn't matter to Persephone, whose ears flared as a dark look crossed her face. "Are you planning to do any more dancing? Please do! I need a good laugh!" He chuckled to himself as his taunting did what he had intended - no more of those silly dances. It was sort of too bad, as well, since rain was very dramatic... But better for this battle that there be sunshine, so that Plum Seed could take care of Fondue without Professor Plum himself getting his paws dirty. For now.

That Houndour! Persephone growled in her head, possessed with a rage she hadn't known she could feel. How dare any Pokemon insult her dancing like that, when she had tried so hard! What was she supposed to do if her very best still wasn't good enough! Some faintly rational part of her insisted that this was just some random Houndour she'd never see again, but all the same, she felt an intense desire to do something very violent. She looked hopefully to Fondue for ideas, but the poor thing was just staring at Houndour - Persephone repressed thoughts like traitor! - too infatuated to make a move. Well, fine! She knew what to do in that case. A Rain - ugh, just the thought of dancing made her mad! Persephone could practically feel the steam coming off of her in clouds, she was so mad. Chanseys were not supposed to get mad! This was all wrong! She tried to calm herself and again looked to Fondue, but still to no avail. The Wartortle who was supposed to be helping her was instead staring glassy-eyed at the bedraggled mutt across the field. Well, fine. She'd figure it out on her own. Persephone sat herself down and tried futilely to cross her arms to show everyone just how mad she was.

Fondue felt a rush of relief as she saw her Houndour getting back to his feet - he was alright! Thank goodness. Somewhere in her mind she knew that he would have been recalled and healed, but she just couldn't have lived with herself if she had been the one to knock him out. There was no way she could've stood a chance with him after - a powerful blow to her stomach interrupted her thought process as she went flying backward through the air again, skidding to a stop in the dirt. Who - that Hoppip! But before she could even get up again, she was flying in the opposite direction, slammed from behind by some mysterious force. She glanced wildly around, but it had already gone. Then her eyes fell on the Houndour sliding quietly into place next to the Hoppip, and she forgot all about the pain, her gaze softening. She could deal with it if he was here!

Persephone... On the second and third actions,... If you can't use safeguard or it is active already, ice beam Plum Seed unless she's protecting.

Persephone should've used ice beam on the second and third attacks. Also, I'd like to think Persephone has enough sense to see Professor Plum in front of Plum Seed and move sidewards to aim at Plum Seed in response.

Will chilling to collect Fondue's thoughts help ease attraction?

"On the second and third actions, if at any point sunny day is active, use rain dance. If you get the chance, safeguard as soon as possible. If you can't use safeguard or it is active already, ice beam Plum Seed unless she's protecting."

You just said 'if you get the chance', which is sort of ambiguous, and then the sentence after that seems definitely attached, because otherwise it messes up your other conditionals. If Persephone should use Ice Beam any time that Safeguard is impossible or already up, that would cover up the other conditionals, and it would also do things like, say, have her try to use Ice Beam while Disabled. Too, you said Rain Dance whenever there's a Sunny Day, and there was! I'm sorry that you didn't know it would turn out that way in a Taunt; feel free to message me if you want to ask how I'd interpret something!

I'm not that inclined to think a Pokemon should have enough sense for something like that, either, since they don't have enough sense for a lot of things! For instance you're not supposed to ref a Pokemon as waiting for a Digging Pokemon to come up before attacking! Mostly I think that a Pokemon should try its best to follow commands even if they don't make sense, because otherwise there are tons of times where a Pokemon would mess up perfectly good commands by using sense!

Sure about Chilling to ease Attraction, though! I guess I'd ref that as the failure chance going down by 5% for just Chilling, and 10% if you word it specifically to help Fondue get over him!

Good work, you two! All right, both of you are going to have to watch Fondue very carefully for a bit. Try not to fall for a Fake Out if it happens; if she makes any sudden movements or anything, do your best not to let it throw you off. You can relax a bit once she's Encored (unless she's Encored into Fake Out, in which case come on, you know that's coming). And if you can, try not to let Persephone get in the way of your attacks on Fondue. If you're prepared, hopefully you'd be able to just get around her. Sweep your projectile attacks or go for the one with a shadow if somehow there happen to be clones.

Plum Seed, start out by Encoring Fondue's last Water Spout. If she uses Fake Out or Aqua Jet before you get a chance, just Encore that instead. If she uses Endure or Bide or if Encore wouldn't affect her, Solarbeam. And if you can't reach her at all, wait for Professor Plum to Taunt and then try a Sleep Powder on Persephone, instead.

Next, if Encore was successful, I'm sure you were super-impressed by that last attack of Fondue's, weren't you! Why don't you show off yourself with a Solarbeam! Make her notice you watching for her reaction to see if she's as impressed by your attack as you were by hers; you don't want her thinking that you're tricking her, now, do you. (Give her a disappointed look if she seems upset. You just wanted to play. :c)

If Encore didn't happen and Fondue has already moved this action (or is Biding) and is hittable, Solarbeam away; if she's Protecting, wait for Professor Plum to use Feint before using Solarbeam. Otherwise, Encore her before she can attack (if Professor Plum is slowed down for any reason, do it right away; otherwise, let him attack first); if Encore wouldn't work, go with Solarbeam without waiting. If your attack wouldn't affect her, Sleep Powder at Persephone, but if she's already asleep, might as well see if you can aim that at Fondue instead.

Finally if Fondue is still around, hopefully a Solarbeam will finish her off (do it the same way as before if she's Encored); wait for Professor Plum to attack first if Protect happens. If Fondue hasn't moved yet, isn't Biding, and isn't Encored, wait for Professor Plum to attack if there's some reason he might not be able to do so successfully, then Solarbeam if it worked and Encore if it didn't; if Professor Plum's slowed or if Fondue hasn't taken any Solarbeams this round, though, just Encore right away. If your attack wouldn't work for some reason or you can't attack her at all, wait as long as you can and then prolong your Sunny Day.

Plum Seed: Encore @ Fondue/Solarbeam @ Fondue/Sleep Power @ Persephone ~ Solarbeam @ Fondue/Encore @ Fondue/Sleep Powder @ Persephone\Fondue ~ Solarbeam @ Fondue/Encore @ Fondue/Sunny Day

Professor Plum! See if you can extend Persephone's Taunt. It shouldn't be too hard to provoke her, considering that she's done all of nothing in this battle! Hopefully it'll disrupt her focus a bit if she's trying a Focus Punch, too.

Then you'll need to Feint if Fondue's got a Protect up. Why would she want to do something to keep the two of you apart? :c If she's defenseless, nail her with a Solarbeam—you've no further need of her affections. But if Plum Seed's already moved, Fondue isn't Encored, and she hasn't attacked yet by the time it's your turn, wait for her to move and then quickly use Uproar if she tries to Rest (don't you want her to stay with you!); otherwise stick with Solarbeam. Same for the last action, but swap Uproar for a Flamethrower at Persephone if you can't reach Fondue, she's Enduring and has been hit by two Solarbeams this round (not including whatever Plum Seed does this action), or she's simply not around anymore.

Professor Plum: Taunt @ Persephone ~ Feint @ Fondue/Solarbeam @ Fondue/Uproar ~ Feint @ Fondue/Solarbeam @ Fondue/Flamethrower @ Persephone

Skylark do you still think your commands were long :c I won't do it again I promise.
