Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.
Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.
Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?
I, personally, believe there is a soul that holds our memories, personality, etc., allowing us to pass into a sort of other existence. Not a heaven or anything, but... Something...
Yes, but if souls were this, then that would mean when a person dies, so does their soul. If no, then the memories must continue on, and the soul continues to live. Which means they either move to a new body. But to do that, they must loose all you have said a soul to be. Which brings me back to what I said, with another question. What defines a soul, and where do they come from?
Oh, of an interesting note, apparently a doctor once weighed people while they were dying, and measured how much a soul weighs...
expelling gases or fluids, iircSomehow, I think something else caused the body to become lighter, and not the soul leaving it
Heh, camerupt, that's the kind of rationalization I used when I was a young child to allow myself to swallow the religion being shoved down my throat. But then I realized that was a really stupid reason to justify spending my life (probably the only life I will have) believing and perpetuating lies.
The soul only exists as a poetic term that can be used in songs when the lyricist can't think of a good word.
