Kratos Aurion vs MurrMurr

OLD ACCOUNT

Just to clear the deck, I own no monkeys.
This arena, these rules, I am liking them. So I issue a second challenge, yes?

If my opponent wants to change the number of Pokémon used--more, less, I'd also be down for a 1vs1 or something--that's cool. I'd rather the rest of the rules stayed the same, though.

3vs3 single (or whatever)
Style: set
DQ: Standard week
Damage Cap: none
Banned Moves: OHKO's; anything else is fair game

Arena: Outside the Battle Arena

The battle takes place right outside the Battle Frontier's Battle Arena facility, out in the open air. The immediate area is covered in nicely manicured grass and a few flowers. The Arena building itself is surrounded on three sides by water and a small pond sits on the other side of the battlers, so water moves can be used and Water-types that need to swim can do so. The battlers cannot move away from the immediate area, so heading towards the plaza or another facility is forbidden. Maps of the general area can be found on this page.

Since this match is happening so close to the Arena, it seems such a shame not to follow Greta's rules... or, at least, a variation on them. As such, both battlers will send out their Pokémon and attack for three battle rounds (a total of 9 attacks per Pokémon) before the ref calls a halt. After the three rounds both Pokémon are recalled and unable to continue in the current battle, and their current health, energy and status are noted for later. Both trainers will then send out their next Pokémon and continue for the next three rounds. At the end (which should be nine total rounds), the health and energy of all Pokémon is totaled and whichever trainer has the highest score wins.

The following rules also apply:

-If a Pokémon has fainted, either due to HP loss OR energy loss, the battle stops right where it is (even if it has not yet been three rounds) and both Pokémon are recalled. Fainted Pokémon DO still count toward the final score, but as either their health or their energy is at 0% they won't add anywhere near as much.

-If, at the end of the three rounds, a battler is afflicted with a status condition, that condition detracts from their final score as follows:

Paralyzed, Burned, Confused: -10 points
Poisoned, Attracted: -15 points
Asleep, Frozen: -20 points
If the Pokémon has more than one status condition, only the first one they were afflicted with detracts full points; all others afterwards only detract five, no matter what they are.

Experience is determined like this: all Pokémon get the usual 1 experience point for being sent into battle, and if one Pokémon actually knocks another out it will get the 1 experience point as normal. If neither Pokémon faints at the end of three rounds, the one with the lower score is considered knocked out for the purposes of experience and so the one with the higher score would get the extra 1 exp.

Okay, then. I'll use Räsvelg.

Start with Fake Out, Räsvelg. You're faster than Daydream so you should be able to pull it off first, but if she does manage to protect against it before you can hit her switch to Swords Dance. Actually, if she protects or is otherwise unreachable at all this round, Swords Dance. Anyway, after that use Attract, and end with X-Scissor.

Alrighty Daydream. I want you to sit back and calmly accept the Fake Out, he's faster so there's not much you can do. Just take a deep breath and Chill. Then, you will fall in love. I am warning you, he has no affection. See if you can shake it off and use Hypnosis, then follow it up with either another one if it missed (if it failed due to love don't bother), or a Thunderbolt if the Spraylet is sleeping. If at any point you don't feel up to using the moves I've asked of you (how sweet, young love), then just sit back and Chill.

As the two Pokémon are released, Daydream can immediately feel herself changing. It’s nothing that anyone else would notice, but it feels rather significant to her. She can feel the water in her body growing excited; never before had she ever paid any attention to whatever percentage of water her body was made out of, but now it seemed to be of particular importance. It felt as if a storm was brewing inside her. Though it quieted after a few minutes, she was still constantly aware of its’ power, waiting to emerge.

Räsvelg, completely unaware of his opponents’ change, smirked. His opponent seemed like a complete pushover, and he liked that. He got down on all fours, bracing himself on his wings, before pushing off and running at maximum speed towards the small psychic-type. The ralts didn’t stand a chance; Räsvelg was so fast he appeared only as a white blur. He crashed into her, sending her tumbling over herself in shock. The spraylett easily regained his footing after the blow, grinning at his endeavor.

Daydream slowly got up; her trainer had warned her about that, but you can never quite expect it. It was so fast. She sighed; why is everyone always in such a hurry? She tried to rest with what time she had, but found she didn’t need it; she was as energetic as she could be.

Räsvelg, still grinning triumphantly, was far from finished with his opponent. He stretched, his slick feathers shimmering in the sunlight, and struck a pose, waiting for the ralts’ approval. And he got it. Daydream quickly fell prey to her name; she soon found the spraylett’s over-excitement towards battle sexy, his eagerness heroic. She was practically idolizing him within minutes. Räsvelg knew he’d gotten what he’d intended, and stared at the ralts, bemused. Daydream, interpreting this as a love-struck gaze, smiled dazedly at her lover.

The spraylett soon regretted looking directly at the psychic type, however. There was something about her, some sort of vibe, that just made him… really… sleepy. His eyes slowly closed no matter how much he struggled to keep them open; eventually he tumbled to the floor, completely asleep. Gasping, Daydream ran towards her fallen lover, caressing his soft feathers with her tiny hands.

Räsvelg twitched in his sleep, perhaps having a fitful dream, or perhaps itching to wake up. Sighing, Daydream petted his soft face; how she wished he would wake up and pet her as well, telling her how much he loved him. Though he looked so beautiful when he slept… Perhaps he should stay asleep. She wouldn’t mind him sleeping forever. He was so cute!

Räsvelg twitches slightly in his sleep. Worried, Daydream pet his forehead gently, ruffling the feathers on his head. She grows even more worried as he begins to mumble in his sleep; she can’t tell what he’s saying, but it seems to be rather nonsensical.

Perhaps his intention is to startle Daydream as much as he can, as Räsvelg soon gets up off the ground, eyes still closed, and begins to run circles around the worried psychic-type. Daydream stares in shock as the spraylet increases in speed, running so fast that he appears as simply a white blur – and though she’s sure she’s sure she imagines it, he appears to split into several versions of himself before slowing down to a stop. The second he stops running he falls back to the ground, and Daydream quickly runs to him, lifting his head off the ground and – but the moment she touches him, he disappears, fizzing out of the air like smoke. Scared now, Daydream looks around, finding several more spraylet laying on the floor around her; she has no idea which one is real.

And, adding to that, she has no desire to make the apparitions go away. They’re just as cute as Räsvelg himself, and she’s not even sure there is a real one – maybe they’re all fake? Who is she to judge? A fake Räsvelg is better than no Räsvelg! Still somewhat unsure, Daydream sits down where she is, looking from one spraylet to the other. At least they’re not moving.

Except they are. Once again, Räsvelg begins to mumble, each of his clones mimicking him. After a few moments he pauses – Daydream waiting impatiently – before opening his small beak and releasing a deafening screech. The sound is so high-pitched that humans, and some Pokémon, would be unable to hear it; ralts most definitely could, though. Daydream yelped in shock and pain, holding her tiny hands to her head for as long as the screech lasted and then a few seconds after. Her head hurt so much that she didn’t even realize when the sound stopped; it just kept reverberating inside her ears. It hurt just to think, and every time she moved it felt like something was falling on her head. She couldn’t help but wonder why her precious Räsvelg would hurt her so much; but she couldn’t wonder for long, since thinking hurt so much.

Räsvelg, meanwhile, was slowly waking up. His eyes slid open ever so slightly, blinking at the sudden light. As he realized what was going on, he jumped to his feet, stumbling to regain his balance. His clones moved with him, alerting him to their presence; though he wondered how he got them, he didn’t wonder for long. He was too annoyed at having fallen asleep to waste time thinking.

Cracking a mischievous grin, crosses his wings upon his chest. His small fingers begin to glow slightly with slightly greenish energy; it’s barely noticeable before the spraylet and his clones dash forwards, converging upon the ralts. Each spraylet jumps forward as if to attack, but only one actually strikes, converging on the ralts and slashing at her with his arms, leaving a glowing x-mark where he struck. The spraylet bounced away from his target, still grinning with pride, as the ralts clung to head with one hand and her new wound with the other; she was in too much pain to move.

But one thing was growing clear: her lover was not what she’d expected. He was not kind and loving, not when he kept hurting her like this. But still there was that lingering feeling, something that kept making her feel as if he was only doing this because he had to… not because he wanted to.

She couldn’t think for long, though, with her throbbing headache worsening whenever she tried. There was a nagging feeling that she’d forgotten something important for quite a while now, and it was really starting to annoy her by now, but she pushed the thought away. Whatever she was meant to do couldn’t be nearly as important as the fact that her head felt like a led ball.

Well done, Räsvelg. Unfortunately Daydream's inability to attack means she isn't using nearly enough energy, but we're winning in points anyway. So let's see... if it helps Daydream feel any better about your "affection" for her for just a bit longer, chill on the first action. Then use Shadow Claw on the last two, hope for a nice critical.

If you're ever asleep again, use Sleep Talk as appropriate, and if you're fully paralyzed, otherwise immobile or can't get to her with Shadow Claw, chill.

O...K. Despite our disadvantage last round (and the fact that Kratos is lying and we're up in points, and the fact that he hates me and thinks I suck), we can pull this through!

Seriously though, not meaning to offend or anything, but:
100+68=168
87+96=183
unless I got the stats wrong.

Anyhoo. Daydream, use a simple Thunderbolt on the first action, and please please please please please paralyze him. Second, dodging spree to come out on top! First, Protect and then Teleport away. If nothing goes too wrong, we should emerge victorius. Also, if he ever chills past the first action and you haven't already moved this action, use Will-o-Wisp. If by some luck he's burned by the third action, use Thunderbolt again.

Räsvelg frowns at his command. But… ass-kicking! He looks as his trainer pleadingly, to no avail. Fine, poopie face. Crossing his arms to show his displeasure, the spraylet sits down on the ground, his clones all mimicking him, and glares at nothing in particular. I’m not even that tired! Geez! But he can already feel his muscles relaxing and, despite himself, his anger cooling. Though he still wants to beat Daydream up, he’s a bit calmer about it.

Daydream stares at her opponent. She can see him, though he’s rather fuzzy. It’s just that whenever she opens her eyes, it hurts beyond belief. No attack she’s ever felt has ever hurt this much. She closes her eyes and sighs, wishing everything would just go away.

His frown replaced by a smirk, Räsvelg gets up off the ground, brushing dirt off his feathers. He spots Daydream doing nothing in particular, just as he’d hoped, and prepares his attack. Each of his small fingers become smoke-like, ghost-like energy fusing into them and giving them strength. He runs forwards, each of his clones right behind him, and slashes at the ralts with each hand –

Or at least, intends to. Instead he bounces off a reflective barrier, landing on his butt. His hands quickly lose their strength by the time he gets to his feet. Daydream looks rather apologetic; though her confusion is momentarily gone, she’s clearly still confused as to why her lover would attack her like that. Perhaps he knew she’d set up a Protect shield? But then why did he look so enthusiastic about it?

Räsvelg mumbled in annoyance. He glared at the ralts as his hands grew ghost-like once more; second time’s the charm. He ran towards Daydream, a bit more hesitant this time, and prepared to strike…

… and hit. Triple slash marks opened on the ralts’ face as the spraylet struck, knocking the ralts’ back to her senses. Räsvelg’s grin widened as he jumped away, his hands returning to normal. Finally, some action.

It was all the action he’d get, however. Twin beams of red light struck each Pokémon, shrinking them in size and returning them to their Pokéballs. They would soon be replaced by their teammates, but for them, the battle was over.

Notes
– Daydream was confused on the first and third action. Clearly no paralysis there.
- Now, I’m not sure if this should be the opposite of who sent commands first last time or who sent out their Pokémon first to begin with, so I’m going with the latter ‘cause it seems more fair (if you have a complaint about that, tell me and I might change it if it makes sense etc. blabla):
- Kratos sends out.
- Murrmurr sends out and attacks.
- Kratos attacks.

The attack alteration should continue as normal, so yes, MurrMurr is next to attack. I mean, it really doesn't matter that much to me, but it's what I'd intended.

Anyway, I think I'll use Kratos next.

I'll use Purr (no surprise there) now.

Your attack pattern is rather simple: Earthquake when you can. If he tries to status you, Protect. If he raises his stats, Chills, Protects, or uses some idle move, use Double Team (2 clones). Feel free to use it again and create two more clones if necessary.

Earthquake/Protect/Double Team (2 clones)~Earthquake/Protect/Double Team (2 clones)~Earthquake/Protect/Double Team (2 clones)

This ought to be interesting. He wants you to attack? Okay, then, you attack. A little slower than usual, maybe, but yes. Counter. Three times. Destroy him.

Even with no damage caps you shouldn't be, like, dying towards the end of this round, but if you feel like you're about to collapse then replace the last Counter with Protect. You should be okay, though.

Counter ~ Counter ~ Counter/Protect

Kratos grits his teeth, spreading his paws as he braces himself for the attack that he knows is coming. Even with that knowledge, it doesn’t make it any easier – you never like being struck by an earthquake. But he trusts his trainer, so he waits patiently, despite his caution.

Purr, on the other hand, has no caution at all. The gible is practically giggling with joy as he jumps up into the air, landing on the ground with much more force than his tiny body should have achieved. The soft dirt begins to rattle at the gible’s command, cracking open in several places – though the cracks are, thankfully, rather small. Kratos can feel the force of the attack shivering up his bones; it takes all his focus to remain in place, embracing the earthquake.

But he’s glad he did. Just before the earth calms, the houndour raises his head, sending a shockwave outwards that revitalizes the earth around him, tossing dirt and grass and knocking flying bird Pokémon out of balance. For Purr, it’s more than enough to send her tumbling over backwards, landing several feet away from where he had been and laying on his stomach. He moans as he gets to his feet, unsure of what had hit him; that was way too strong to have come from a measly houndour.

Both Pokémon look pretty battered already, but it’s only going to get worse. Kratos steadies himself, breathing rather heavily after that counter attack, while Purr jumps into the air and slams his tiny feet into the already agitated ground. As the gible lands, the earth shakes once more, with just as much force as it had last time; Kratos takes the blow with gritted teeth. He waits patiently, hoarding the damage… and releases it.

Purr is knocked over by the counter’s tremendous power, landing on his side this time. It takes him several moments to get up, while Kratos appears to be looking rather tired himself. The houndour knows this won’t last much longer, though – he can tell just how weak the gible is. It’s quite clear which one of them has more strength left, and it’s Kratos.

Determined to get in one more blow and clearly not learning his lesson, Purr jumps up and down on the ground, releasing one more earthquake attack. Several of the small cracks that had opened before widen; not enough for a Pokémon to fall in, but enough for one to trip over. Neither Purr nor Kratos notice, though, as the houndour is steeling himself for his last counter attack, and the gible is waiting for what he knows to be coming.

With a tired cry, Kratos smacks the ground with his paw and releases the counter-attack. As before, Purr is knocked off his feet, landing on his stomach – but he doesn’t get up. Seeing this, Kratos falls onto his own stomach, panting rather heavily. He waits to see if the gible will rise, hoping beyond hope that he doesn’t; and his prayers are answered. Purr has fainted. Kratos is too tired to celebrate, but there’s no need. He’s quickly withdrawn into his Pokéball with a flash of bright light, as is his fainted opponent.

Okay; I'll see your Poison-type and raise you another one. Adonis, you're up.

Start with a 10% Substitute, just to be safe. Then Glare at him and end with Body Slam. If he protects or is otherwise unreachable, Stockpile 10% energy the first time and Double Team (two clones) any times after that; if he has a substitute by the last action, though, go ahead and hit it with Body Slam.

Substitute 10% ~ Glare/Stockpile 10% ~ Body Slam/Stockpile 10%/Double Team (2 clones)

While we're on the subject of raising...

Syrup, start out with a Substitute (15%), to give that little snake something to think about. Then execute a fast, one-turn Dig to beat up his Sub a bit. Then, if the Substitute is broken, use Double Team (3 clones) to hopefully stop repeated strings of Body Slams. If the Sub is up, use Mud Bomb. Also, if on the third action you're fully paralyzed and don't think you can attack, just Chill.

Substitute 15%~Dig~Double Team(3 clones)/Mud Bomb/Chill
