Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

It was what is called a beautiful morning.

The newly risen sun showed it's beams on the world, hanging in a clear blue sky. It was warm; not too hot, not too cold. The land itself was a meadow filled with deep green grass and wildflowers of every color of the rainbow. A gentle breeze washed over the meadow, blowing the long grass and the the wildflowers around. Bird Pokémon chatted with their friends overhead, creating what sounded like a song to anyone who didn't know better.

Deep within the grass, a creature, about the size and shape of a human baby, stirred. It was breathing deeply, and pollen from the flowers were shaken out. The creature, an oddly colored Ralts, sneezed and opened its eyes. It sat up, shaking its head rapidly.

"Ugh..." she (for the voice was surely female) said. "What happened?" The Ralts rubbed her head. Her hand brushed the horn on her head. "What the...?" The Ralts, a little bit slow, finally realized that it wasn't her hair covering her eyes but something else. She manged to find her hand to look at and let out a surprised yelp when she saw it. "T-this isn't my hand!" The Ralts stood up and realized how short she was. "This isn't my body!"

The Ralts was finally struck with a couple of memories. One was of a car crash, another was of a weird goat thing. Is this some kind of weird afterlife? she wondered. She struggled to remember what that goat said.

"Why can't I remember anything else?" the Ralts asked quietly.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

"Hnnr. Head...hurts." A soft voice squeaked from a clump of grasses. Soon after the words were spoken, a blue head popped out of the clump and looked around, oval-shaped brown eyes blinking. The Shellos looked around, trying to clear her vision; everything was awful blurry, like she had a thin film over her eyes...

She shook her head again, and a thought hit her. She remembered a searing pain in her skull, a cloud of red, then nothing.

No, not quite nothing. A voice...? And a funny looking thing. She shook her head again, and reached up a hand to rub her face--

But it didn't quite reach. In fact, her hand didn't even get past her shoulder. Puzzled, she looked down, and found herself staring and a squishy and slug-like blue body, and her 'hands' were really little nubby protrusions. She shrieked.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

Kiryu hesitantly opened his eyes. He found himself staring across a lush field.

How did I... is this...?

His last memory was vague, at best. All he could remember was being angry, and then feeling a sharp pain deep in his back. The next thing he knew, he was standing in front of a goat-like creature, who said something about a second chance. Then all had gone dark.

And now I find myself here, he thought, but where is here?

He decided that exploring the field would be the best option. He started to walk forward, lost his balance and fell flat on his face.

Confused, he got up, attempted to brush the dirt off himself, but when he looked down, he saw that he wasn't really himself anymore.

He was much smaller, for one thing. Furthermore, his body was a dull black, and his arms were...

Gone and replaced with wings, he realized, the horror of it slowly dawning on him, I'm not human anymore! I'm...

I'm what? What sort of pokemon could I be? I've never seen any pokemon that looks the way I look right now.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

"Surely, this is a beautiful sight. If only I had nothing else to worry about, I would most likely just watch".

Standing in the grass was a black bird, it looked like it wore a hat, maybe, but it was a bird no less.

"The clash, I remember. The pain, I remember. That... thing, I remember. But nothing besides those things". The bird looked around, as if trying to look over the grass. "Nothing that could actually help, it is truly sad. I am stuck in a place where I have no idea where I am, nor WHAT I am."
He moved one wing a bit, pointlessly.
"Wings would be handy if I knew how to fly, but unfortunately I do not".

Then, he heard a shriek, shocked, he jumped back a bit on his unstable legs, but came to his senses again. It was a good sign to him, it meant he wasn't truly alone in this landscape. he began moving around, it was tricky, if so to say, and it took him a while to move efficiently.
"Hello?!" he called, because in this situation, he was more than eager to have some company, "Anyone?!"

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

The Ralts heard the voice and jumped up and down, waving her arms frantically. "Hello!" she yelled, still leaping. "I'm here!" She jumped again. "Can you tell me what happen-HOLY CRAP!" It was at that moment that she realized she was talking to a talking bird. The Ralts scrambled back a foot, pointing.

"Birds shouldn't talk!" she said, before sneezing again from the pollen.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

The tall flowers swayed over the small feline creature's head, the creature watching them through mostly-hazel eyes. She blinked her eyes a few more times, before rolling over and using her arms to push her up.

There weren't any arms, only tiny russet appendages with even tinier pads on the bottom. And she was in control of them.

Profanities flew from her mouth, and she automatically flipped into a standing position. But standing position was on four limbs, not the long two she was so used to.

"What in the name of God's good grace?!" she muttered, trying the touch her chin to her chest to look at her body. As she tried so, a large tanner fluff squished into her face, blocking her view. She raised the appendage to her neck, feeling the fur surrounding her like a collar.

"What's going on here?" she mewed in distressed, feeling something fluffy squeeze in between her legs(well, the back two). Turning around it darted from her, but she got the glimpse of a tail.

Try to remember what happened.. who are you, what are you...?

She remembered a voice, so familiar but nameless, crying a name. She could only make out four letter in that two-syllable name. 'L' and 'I'. Liil? Llii? Ilil? She couldn't figure it out. She tried to see what made the most sense.

Illi? It sounded like a real name. Human enough. That's what 'Illi' knew she was. A human. This body wasn't human.

Digging deeper into her memory, she pulled out an image of two newborn human babies, wailing. What did that have to do with her? Then she saw a goat. Or a cow. Or some kind of mutated horse. Whatever it was, she remembered something about a second chance.

When she was human, Illi remembered learning about reincarnation. You had no idea who you were in your past life when you were born again. Could this be the answer?
The Eevee(for that was what it was called) took a moment to looks around her, spotting other strange creatures.

"H-hello," she said, voice weak and breaking off.

"Where am I?"

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

A quiet, guttural groan-sigh, barely audible, issued from a rather artistic-looking beagle lying in the grass.

Marco, breathing deeply, refused to open his eyes. Hmm, strange... His nose felt kind of weird. Oh well, he supposed he had a cold and that his mother was...!

Oh wait, who was his mother? Marco was pretty sure that that wasn't a normal question, most people he knew knew who their mothers were... Oh, wait, <Marco didn't seem to remember knowing anyone at all. Well, this was a notch higher on the strangeometer then Marco seemed to think normal life was supposed to be.

Well, might as well try standing, that seemed like a good first step. The drowsy creature rolled onto his haunches, not noticing the fact that he had paws at his point. Eyes still closed (opening them seemed like a frivolous risk at this juncture), Marco stands, and finds himself only slightly wobbly on his feet.

Now, to review his most recent memories...

Try as he might, however, Marco could only drudge up to faint memories:

1. An image of a beaker of blue stuff bubbling and then catching fire, and then a loud, static-like thump!
2. A golden, glowing horse-thing with some sort of gold ring around its waist.

Wait, what? Marco checked again. Yes, a glowing, golden horse thing. Hmm.

Well, now that that was out of the way, it was time to open his eyes. Which he promptly did, squinting in the sudden glare. Once his eyes adjusted, Marco noticed a few strange things.

1. Everything seemed kind of tall. IT was like everything in this place was a few feet taller than it should have been. Strange.
2. Colors were more vibrant than he thought he would have remembered. If that made sense, which it probably didn't.
3. He wasn't nearsighted. Marco wasn't entirely sure whether this was strange or not, but something about seeing clearly made the areas around his eyes feel too light, somehow.

Marco felt brave enough to, say, walk around. He promptly did so. He felt okay, but there seemed to be something dragging behind him. Marco blindly reached around and grabbed it, tugging it towards himself to see what it was.

The Smeargle literally howled in pain as he pulled on his blue-stained tail.

Marco fell to his side, biting back tears and realizing a number of things:

1. He had no clothes.
2. He had a tail.
3. He wasn't human!

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

Kiryu had no idea of what to do concerning his current situation. Here he was, in the form of some sort of flight-capable but walking-incapable pokemon, in the middle of who knows where, with only the faintest memory of being... something else. Or rather, someone else.

The Aerodactyl (for that's what Kiryu now was) struggled to his feet, and realized one simple thing: if he were to learn more about where he was, he would need to get on the move.

Kiryu attempted to jump up and start flying, but he wasn't able to correctly glide, and so he crashed to the ground.

Cursing under his breath, the Aerodactyl turned around, and began to flap his wings to take off. This time, he was able to successfully get off the ground, and though he felt as if he was about to fall again, Kiryu suddenly, without thinking, straightened out his wings, and began gliding.

This is... amazing! he thought, flying freely through the air, this is, beyond any doubt, the greatest thing that ever-

WHAM.

Having not paid any attention as to where he was going, Kiryu had quickly lost altitude and had crash-landed, and right next to a dark-colored bird.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

"I thought so too, my friend," the bird told the creature in front of him, which was at least vaguely human, "but apparently I can. I am just as confused as you are in this case."

He looked around the general area once again.

"And sadly, I seem to be as lost as you are. I woke up here, recently, with next to memories of what happened before and why I suddenly turned into this."

He swore he heard something, he looked around again.

"How rude of me to not introduce myself, by the way. My name is Antonio, but most call me Tony, it's as simple as that."

Just then, something three times his size crashed into the ground besides him, which made him quickly jump to the side in shock.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

Illi started walking towards the animals, and one in particular caught her attention, farther away from the group. She didn't seem to notice that she was on a more elevated area than the other creatures, and as a dark something flashed above her in the skies, she shrieked and started running, only to tumble down the hill. Darn those extra limbs that she was still getting used to, her inexperience causing her to trip over herself.

She stopped rolling near the animal she saw away from the others - had it noticed that they were even there? A frightening howl made her jump, all fur sticking up on end. The canine-shaped thing then curled onto its side, back facing to her. Was this thing too dangerous to approach? Maybe if it killed her she'd be reincarnated into a human again.

"I'm lost," she muttered, half realizing what she was saying. The Eevee meant more than just lost in the area.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

Marco twitched and whimpered a bit at the sound of the voice, but quickly prioritizes; that was definitely another human voice, and that seemed a rather welcome thing with what was going on.

The base of his tai-, no, the base of his spine still hurt, and Marco was quite aware of this fact as he attempted to uncurl. Finding success in this endeavor, the Smeargle turned to look for the girl he had heard-

But no one was there, save a brownish, rather cute anim- wait, was that an Eevee? No, that was ridiculous, it just looked like an Eevee...? Exactly like an Eevee. But that was impossible... Unless...

"Are you an Eevee?" Marco asked, feeling ridiculous. Of course it wouldn't answer.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

The Ralts still recovering from the sound of the crash, finally found her voice. "I'm... Uh..." What is my name? "Sarah!" she said out loud. She paused. "I, uh, think."

She looked as best as she could at the thing that had crash landed. She walked towards it and noticed a brown fox, who had also taken a tumble. "Are you two okay?"

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

Kiryu glared at the small humanoid pokemon.

"I'm fine. Just lost control, that's all. Is there anything else you wanted to know?"

Though he was putting up a front of anger, on the inside, the Aerodactyl felt... curious.

Why should she care about some random pokemon that crashed right in front of her? he asked, It's not as if we're friends, or even acquaintances.

Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rebirth

Illi tried to stand up straight(which was quite hard in this state, in her opinion) and looked the dog in the eyes.

Eevee. That word sounded so familiar, so right, that Illi knew right away that was what she was now.

"Yes. I believe so," she said, a little surprised that the other creature could talk also. "And you're..." She paused, but thinking only took a moment. "A Smeargle, correct?"

Hearing another voice, the Pokemon turned around. Another speaking creature? This one was more humanoid in appearance.

"I'm completely fine." Her head didn't hurt, but it did feel as if it was shaken a bit, though. "How about you?" Illi turned to the Smeargle(right?), looking a bit worried.
