There is also an island of metal in the distance thatlooks somewhat like an industrial complex.For some reason, the two battlers and their pokemon have been transported to a giant floating turntable oer the lava. The turntable has a diameter of about 120 feet, and has a center red circle with a diameter of about 40 feet.

Each round, there is an 70% chance of a spray of lava erupting and hitting a random battler for 10% fire-type damage, and a 30% chance that a column of lava will erupt from the center of the turn table and explode, damaging both players with a Lava Plume.

BATTLE START!
Two trainers and a referee have met amidst this lava-infested world, dotted with steel structures. The trainers have selected their pokemon; one RespectTheBlade has sent out a kirlia that is currently intently observing its surroundings, while Maniac Panic has chosen a shinx that has just narrowly missed being by sprayed by some stray lava. The referee blows his whistle, signaling the beginning of a battle between these two aspiring members of the League.

Sir Galahad glances at his opponent, meaning to observe him more closely, but is caught off his guard when he sees Shax grinning at him. As if the clear bloodlust in his eyes weren't enough, Galahad can practically feel Shax' malicious intent. Looks like being a Psychic-type has its disadvantages. Well, time to counter some of that shinx' confidence. The kirlia launches a concentrated electric wave at Shax, whose grin quickly fades as his muscles tense up. The cub growls. Time to get serious. His eyes narrow, and he smiles coyly, looking Galahad straight in the eye. The kirlia doesn't quite know how to react; didn't he just launch a miniature lightning bolt at that shinx? Either way he's sure he wants to launch him straight into the endless sea of lava. That ought to wipe that smirk of his face once and for all.

Galahad knows he can't quite do what he wants to, but some second-degree burns ought to be good for now. He forms a blue-hot orb of flame in his hands and launches it at Shax. The shinx yelps in pain as the kirlia's attack scalds his fur. First he strikes him with lightning, and now he burns him. Well, Shax is going to show him just what happens when you mess with a shinx. He leaps forward, opening his jaw and biting down on Galahad's stupid skirt-thing. The kirlia whimpers; he had let his foe get the better of him again.

Well, maaaybe it was time to use some attacks that would bring immediate results. Galahad seeks out his opponent's mind and seizes it, gaining control over the shinx' actions. Then, he lifts Shax up and slams him down into the turntable. The shinx growls again; now his fur is all mottled too! Angrily, he jumps at his foe, baring his fangs- er, teeth- and chomping down on Galahad. As he returns to his original position, however, Shax recoils in pain- the burn that kirlia had inflicted is painfully fresh. Then a flash of light catches his eyes- he turns to look and sees a column of lava rising from the surrounding sea., headed straight for Galahad. The molten rock washes over him, bringing the bite marks left by the shinx to his attention again.

 The round begins- and Galahad is not very happy. That shinx has got him all worked up and the lava isn't exactly calming him. The kirlia begins to form a brightly-colored beam of light in his hands when... he suddenly can't remember what he's doing. Well, he's got a Signal Beam ready... Galahad releases the beam at the endless sea of flame below him. Maybe it'd think twice before messing with him again. Shax, meanwhile, is trying hard not to smirk- this is still a battle, after all. The battlers are suddenly plunged into darkness, and as Galahad regains his vision, the shinx leaps at him and slashes him with his claws.

The kirlia is quite certain that was not very nice, and he's pretty sure he should do something against it but... he's not really feeling up to it. In fact he's finding it strangely difficult to stay upright; he'll just wait the vertigo out for now and hope that mean blue thing doesn't cut him again. Shax is quite satisfied by Galahad's inability to act. Now just a little beam to confuse him even more and... he can't form it. The cub growls in frustration as his muscles refuse to comply with his attempts to form a Signal Beam.

Galahad's confusion has cleared up somewhat by now, and the kirlia can fully feel his foe's emotions once more. Heh, paralysis. He knew those sparks would come in handy; now it was time to capitalize on the situation. His eyes gain an eerie glow and he seizes the shinx with his mind, then slams him down into the turntable. Shax shivers in rage; damn Psychic-types, always playing mind games. He tries to form a beam to retaliate and... nothing. The shinx is simply stuck in place, and just then he feels the kirlia's flame. The pain isn't over yet for him, however, as a column of hot lava rises and comes down on him hard.

Galahad eyes his opponent with glee- now he's the one who can't get his body to cooperate. He's afraid he may just have to incapacitate him even further. He stares intently at the shinx as darkness engulfs the arena (as much as it can considering it's above a sea of glowing lava) and his eyes begin to glow an eery red. Shax is lost in the gaze almost instantly; somewhere in the back of his mind he knows this isn't right, but the kirlia's eyes are just so entrancing... and soon the cub is snoozing away, happy to take a little break.

Galahad is tempted to do a little dance, but continuing his plan seems a little more important. Instead, the kirlia seeks out the sleeping shinx' mind and latches on to it- Shax, meanwhile, is having a rather pleasant dream where he's a big strong luxray and there's no dumb Psychic-types to ruin it. Galahad begins to draw out the very fabric of the cub's imaginings, gorging himself on it. Shax cringes as the image of a hated kirlia flashes briefly in his mind- electricity surges through his tail.

And now the Emotion Pokémon is feeling it. The shinx is reacting so nicely, he just can't resist doing it again. As he prepares to feed once more, however, he finds his own mind clouded- he tries and tries to find Shax in the mass of thoughts, but he can barely even tell which belong to whom.
