In the world of Alterra, relatively most things closely resemble our planet Earth. There are advanced human societies, much like ours, countries, warfare, culture, technology, wildlife...

Yet there is one thing that seperates it from our planet.

That is the existance of magic.

Everything on Earth is driven and even fueled by this. All technologies that would normally be powered by electricity are powered via magic. Even living beings are powered by it; without it, they would simply die. It is a mysterious force that is part of all nature.

One society, however, has taken the usage of it too far.

For many years, a country called Ladragia, has been creating extremely advanced weapons effectively harnessing the destructive potential of magic. Other countries have quaked in fear, and for many years, none have been able to match it in power. It has bullied all of them into submissiveness and has been looking to expand its territory.

North of Ladragia lies an entire continent, called Arc, relatively untouched by modern human hands. It is inhabited only by small tribes of a mystical people, known as the Spectrumians or quite commonly, Rainbowpeoples. Their tribal lands, which pretty much span the most of Arc, are known as the Rainbow Territories. They are called this because of their beautiful boundless meadows... containing flora and fauna of all sorts of colours.

Of course, Ladragia's set their eyes on it, and for quite some time have been trying to conquer the continent. However, one thing has been a large obstacle. That's the neighboring country of Pancrasia, which has been steadily increasing its technology and power. It is a huge threat to Ladragia, and threatens to take away its position as the world's most powerful country.

The two have been at war for around 6 years and the people of Ladragia are growing tired.

Within its cities, most are living in poverty. The government has allocated most of its funds to the military and even has gone as far as to take away lands and funds from the people. Many homes have been turned into military bases, its inhabitants paid a meager sum and some forced to live out in the streets.

In the capital of Ladragia, Laisis, anti-war resistance movements are being formed left and right... one notable one formed by a man named Nitosian Dusksfield. They're tired of this country, and they want to try their luck somewhere else. They want to travel to the Rainbow Territories and claim it for themselves. To create a beautiful utopia where everyone could live in peace.

But it isn't until one night, with the appearance of a rather strange and mysterious girl, that a chain of events is triggered which will result in the founding of the world's largest and most well-known country - Arylettopia.

You are one of the Refugees living in the streets of Ladragia, fleeing from the oppressive country and traveling towards the Rainbow Territories with Nitosian's resistance movement. You're cold, hungry, tired, and you have a long journey ahead of you.

Or you're one of the Rainbowpeoples, fighting against the invading Pancrasian and Ladragian armies, stuck in the middle of a conflict that has nothing to do with you. You fight for your land... and you help the incoming Refugees.

______

RULES:

1.) No godmoding, of course.

2.) No perfect Mary Sue-type characters. You gotta have some flaws, and be realistic at how your character acts. You should know the deal with this rule~

3.) No chatspeak. Please type with at least good spelling and grammar. You don't have to be perfect, one mistake here or two isn't going to make us yell at you like Grammar Nazis, but yeah. Oh and paragraphs. Don't mash everything together, make space inbetween things. It makes it hard for people to read things if you don't have paragraphs.

4.) We're always looking for new members, so don't be shy to join! Just try to be at least at a semi-literate level of roleplaying, we won't accept people whose forms don't reach this level at least.

5.) This roleplay is managed by myself and Zephyrous Castform. He too has the ability to accept applications, decline them, etc.

6.) The spots available for Rainbowpeoples, unlike Refugees, are limited. When they are filled up, nobody else will be able to play as one. Currently, there is only 2 spots open. (with one reservation) The amount of spots will increase as more and more people join. Also please note that if you play as a Rainbowperson, you do not interact with the Refugees until they enter Arc, but you may interact with each other, RP with each other in the same village, etc.

7.) This RP takes place in a world that is in a relatively modern time. There are things like cars, phones, and other technologies that exist today. It takes place in around the Earth equivilant of the 1950's. So please keep that in mind.

8.) You may have up to two characters, unless you are a manager of the RP. Random NPCs don't count. You CANNOT play as two Rainbowpeople though.
______

FORM

Name: Me, a name, I call myself. Please have a full name, first and last.

Age: Are you as old as dirt or just some kid?

Gender: He/she/it.

Side: Refugee/Rainbowperson.

Personality: Well, what's he like? Is he vain, stupid, nice, sweet, vindictive? No played out, please. Give us all the juicey details!

History: The past makes a person, their experiences impact their personality. What happened to your character before they were in the RP, any notable experiences? Where did they come from? That sort of thing.

Abilities: As I explained before, there's magic in Alterra. And yes, people have the ability to make use of it. Your character can have up to three magical abilites that they can use.

Abilities can be any sort of supernatural power, think superheroes. Things like summoning magical creatures, flight, elemental abilities, (the eight elements in Alterra are: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Mind, Reality, Life, and Nothing. Reality's just basically time and space based abilities, the changing of the laws of physics/making things real, as well as darkness and light. Nothing focuses are removing things from existance. And Life is the healing element, it focuses on life forces, as well as anything that involves the body. Mind focuses on the emotions/thoughts of living beings, mindreading, etc, that sort of stuff.) x-ray vision, whatever you can think of. Rainbowpeoples, being more in tune with nature than others, usually have more powerful magic and are more proficient with it. So please keep that in mind~ Oh and don't overdo it when you're thinking up powers, don't like, give them the ability to shoot out a MEGADEATHDOOMLAZOR THAT KILLS ALL ENEMIES or anything like that.

MY FORM:

Name: Arylett Charnoa Dawnsborough

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Side: Refugee

Outfit: Arylett dresses rather plainly, wearing a black sweater and black jeans. Her shirt is red and collared and she wears red sneakers as well. Around her neck is the only thing that appears to stand out, a golden chainlike necklace with a small ruby at the end. Also, she has golden earrings, glasses, and wears her hair in a ponytail most of the time.

Appearance: Her hair is dark brown, looking black, and is curly and rather messy. As for her eyes, they’re also dark chocolate brown. She’s a bit short, being around 5 feet tall, and has a medium build and weight. Isn’t too fat, but she isn’t too skinny either.

Personality: Socially, Arylett is, let’s be blunt, terrible. Her main problem is that she is very shy, and cannot socialize properly. She gets nervous when she does attempt to socialize and often comes off as strange or cold. She hasn’t had many close friends in her life, and doesn’t know how to behave around other people. Generally, her temperament is very high-strung and sensitive. She has an extreme fear bordering on intolerance of criticism. Also, she isn’t very confident with herself, and often makes self-depreciating comments.

Emotionally, she is quite intense. Her emotions tend to dominate her actions, especially her nasty temper. She is easily upset and offended as well. But she doesn’t want everyone to think she’s just a weak overemotional mess who can’t keep it together, and so usually keeps it in when she is upset or angry. Sometimes though, it come up to the surface in unpredictable ways…

History: Nobody really knows where Arylett came from and she doesn’t really seem willing to explain it… one day, she just appeared in Ladragia, during a mysterious lunar eclipse. Before that, she hasn’t told anybody all the details of her life.

She’s been in Ladragia for a very short amount of time, finding out about the Refugees and Nitosian’s resistance movement, and joining them simply because she had nowhere else to go. One thing’s certain though, she definitely isn’t from Ladragia. She wanders about the streets uncertainly, usually not knowing where she’s even going.

Abilities: Summoning – She can summon creatures called Creations, which appear to come from her very imagination. It's a very powerful ability to use, requiring the usage of three elements, Life, Mind, and Reality.

Reality/Darkness powers – These abilities rely on her emotional state, mostly her anger, and are difficult for her to control. She can shoot spheres of darkness from her hands and can pretty much harness it in any other manner. When she loses control of it, she often either transforms into a dog-like, bird, or shapeless monster made of darkness with no perception of anything, or goes into a berserk state where her curly hair grows longer and becomes alive. Generally, she doesn’t use this ability unless she loses control of it.

Name: Rone "Thingy" Tayal

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Side: Refugee

Outfit: Due to living in severe poverty all his life, Rone does not have the time or money to pay out on expensive or stylish clothing. Over a ragged grey T-shirt, he wears a crude jacket that looks like it is made from something similar to the course material sacks are made of, held together at the front with what appears to be an old shoelace. He has a pair of simple, dark brown trousers which are too short for him and ripped around the ankles, revealing several inches of bare ankle. On his feet are some ordinary, albeit slightly ruined, boots.

Appearance: Rather tall for his age (A little over 6 feet tall), Rone has long blonde hair that is in thick curls and sky blue eyes. His constant poverty has taken its toll on his weight, meaning that he weighs about as much as someone several years younger than him.

Personality: Quite aggressive and quick to anger at times, Rone has the tendency to be a little over-protective of people close to him, sometimes taking loyalty a little too far and putting himself at risk in the process. Despite this rather unintelligent trait, he is actually pretty smart; having a lot of spare time, he has taught himself a lot of things from the various books he manages to scavenge, and understands the basic (And some of the more complex) principles of magic.

As quite a main member in his little 'gang' of orphaned children, Rone is courageous, strong, loyal and a good leader. As previously stated though, he tends to occasionally snap and take his anger out on those who do not deserve it. Not the most eloquent of people, Rone's nickname "Thingy" was derived from the way he constantly refers to stuff he has trouble describing as a "thing".

History: After his parents were taken away when he was very young for delivering military secrets (His father was quite high up in the Ladragian army) to Pancrasia, Rone had been living with his older sister, Rhonda, until she was forced to join the army herself once she reached the age of 18. Rone was 11 at this time, and so he and a group of children in similar situations to him formed a small group, surviving together in poverty.

The group gradually grew and spread across Laisis, becoming infamous to the older citizens as marauders, stealing food and clothes and yet somehow never being caught. Rone, or Thingy as he was known amongst the group, as the sort of ringleader, was the most daring of all the kids, stealing from the most dangerous of places, and yet almost always managing to escape just in the nick of time.

And then, after almost five years of this living, on a cold night, he went wondering through the city, and found something he wasn't expecting...

Abilities: Being born in the watery month of Cete, Thingy prefers to use magic of that variety. Due to his poverty, however, he only possesses two well-chosen Vals.

His first Val is an ice hex of sorts. When he uses it, everybody nearby him is instantly frozen to the spot, coated in thick frost and ice that roots them to the ground. This allows him easier getaways when he has stolen something and needs to escape with minimum trouble. As one can expect, he obtained this Val by stealing it from someone, rather ironically.

The other Val is the ability to manipulate medium-sized bodies of water (Ponds, large puddles, small sections of rivers and so on) into various shapes. He can create small waves, whirpools and even turn the water into powerful jets which can be used as weapons. However, he has to concentrate rather a lot to make it do exactly what he wishes.

Name: Greer Harren

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Side: Rainbowperson

Outfit: Greer generally wears a long green tunic, thin pants, and, when the situation calls for it, a wide-brimmed straw hat with a few multicolored strands woven in here and there. He wears simple, homemade shoes and thick, worn sock-like wraps on his feet. A simple, thin gold necklace always hangs around Greer's neck, and a golden circle with a square circle in the middle hangs from it.

Appearance: Greer is noticibly tall and lanky, somewhere around six feet, and is as thin as a toothpick. He has messy dark brown hair, thick eyebrows, and rather large ears. His teeth are a little bit off-center, but it's hardly noticable. Greer often lets his nails grow longer than most people.

Personality: Greer often acts like he's somewhere else, hearing but not always reacting. He's used to being solitary, and would be a bit uncomfortable with lots of people. Altogether nice, Greer does have deep-rooted opinions and won't think twice about fighting for them, either physically or in a debate. He also is a bit of an enviromentalist, as far as that goes.

History: Greer has almost always been a drifter: A small skirmish in his original village, concerning his ownership of his decidedly un-Arc necklace, led to his decision to leave at an early age. An orphan and a runaway, Greer learned to live off of the land and passed through the occasional village, picking up luxuries like knives in exchange for work. Spending most of his time alone, Greer managed to pick up some of the bigger pieces of news, and is worried about the impending invasion.

Abilities:

Animal Linguist: Greer has the ability to understand the emotions and, among the smarter ones, the language of animals of all sorts.

Flower Power Greer has a degree of control over plants of all kinds. Think wrapping things with vines, etc.

Mm, accepted! Just keep in mind that you, as a Rainbowperson, won't be introduced until the refugees move up to Arc.

Name: Christopher "Coyote" Jones

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Side: Refugee

Outfit: http://draconic-aura.deviantart.com/art/Coyote-140003666

Chainsaw is, of course, optional. Also, wears a chainmail vest underneath his shirt.

Appearance: 6 feet tall, 185 pounds, blue-gray eyes and black hair. He's rather thin, yet he has some degree of muscle to him. The mark on his face is a red color, and his skin is a medium brown. Has rather sharp teeth.

Personality: Coyote is known to be a rash person, eager to fight all the time, and also can be ignorant at times. He's also kind of bipolar, sometimes being a very sociable, energetic guy, but also can be reserved and cold. Furthermore, he is a very good tinkerer, having a mechanical-set mind.

History: Coyote's parents were going to put him up for military service as a Ladragian soldier, until Coyote ran away from home in order to be free. He aimlessly wandered the streets, stealing a few things along the way, such as food, weapons and Vals. He also became unrecognizable to his parents or anyone else searching for him, becoming tall, thin, and using a red mark and a hat to further disguise himself.

Along his way, he taught himself the art of dogfighting and streetfighting, even learning a bit about power sword attacks from wandering warriors along the way. He doesn't have qualms about his tactics, though he does try to keep his morals intact. He has also learned junkyard tinkering, gathering scraps and such from factories or stores and putting them together to make things.

Abilities:

Coyote Soul: Can merge his clothing and carried items into his body, then proceeding to turn into a coyote, albeit a rather large one.

Thunder Soul: Has the ability to make electricity from any point in his body, useful in running machines, and as a defense mechanism.

Chainsaw Soul: Summons a chainsaw blade to be used as a weapon.

oh fail. i was meaning to join this but forgot D:

Name: Aderyn Febbary

Age: 15

Gender: Feeeeeeemale

Side: Rainbowperson

Outfit: Aderyn typically wears a plain fabric dark grey shirt under a long-sleeved green jacket. She wears sandals and black trousers, and is usually coated in a thin layer of dirt. She keeps a plain, dark brown feather in her hair most of the time.

Appearance: Aderyn is very thin and rather short. Her hair is a light brown and is usually kept back in a ponytail. She's about five feet and three inches tall, and isn't strong or muscular. At all. Her skin's rather pale, and she weighs about ninety pounds. A large scar runs from her shoulder to her elbow, not from a run-in with a dangerous monster or from a fight with someone, but from a sharp table corner.

Personality: Aderyn is a shy, not very talkative person. She would rather go play outside or go walk around than have a conversation with someone, and actually runs away from people who try to strike up a conversation. She doesn't have very strong opinions and gets nervous easily. Aderyn doesn't get angry, but is only ever frightened, which makes her hard to be around.

History: Aderyn was born in a small village and has lived there her entire life, really. Her dad disappeared off to who knows where and her mom is often gone on long trips, which means she is often alone and the ruler of her house. Every so often, a refugee would come along and her mom would help them on their way, a habit that transferred to Aderyn. She spends her spare time gardening or just wandering around.

Abilities: Aderyn can control the air around her, which lets her fly, though it's more levitating than anything, and blast things with air. She's not too powerful, and most people and objects heavier than seventy pounds can stand without being blasted back or affected much.

..I so should write more.

I guess you're both accepted! Momoharu, perhaps that chainsaw could be a weapon he uses sometimes, just don't... overuse it.

Thanks for joining, guys. ^^ And um, yeah, I just want to make an announcement. When we get 5 refugees and 3 soldiers, we're starting the RP. ;;Adds you to the list;;

Name: Altair Yelekreb

Age: "Old as dirt" (72)

Gender: Male

Side: Refugee

Outfit: Altair walks on a very old, ragged brown cane. He usually is spotted in his favorite old tweed overcoat (a size too big) with a plain green shirt underneath, and jeans. They are always dusty from being on the run, but he manages to clean them (or steal new ones) enough to be presentable by his standards.

Appearance: Altair is rather short, about 5 feet, and always walks with a slouch, making him seem even smaller. He has greying hair (he used to have it dyed regularly before the war broke out, so it's still somewhat black) and milk chocolate-colored eyes. He's very light, and his hands are always scraped--the mark of the eternally hiding. He has a couple of teeth missing, not from fights or anything, but just from old age.

Personality: Altair, or Al as he prefers to be called, used to be a socialite. He was the life and soul of the quintessential party until the war broke out. Now, he's a wistful mess. It takes less than five minutes to be bored by him recounting a tale of "back when I was a free person" or "before I got caught up in all this mess". Nonetheless, he's a loyal person, ready to leap into action as fast as his old bones will allow for an ally, if a little bit too caught up in nostalgia to be very social nowadays.

Also, Al has a little bit of an obsessive-compulsive personality disorder problem, which is exactly like OCD except more justice-obsessive. He has a very opinionated take on what is morally acceptable and what isn't, and he upholds it vigorously, even if it isn't the social norm.

History: Al was a middle class man in a city around the capital before the war against Pancrasia broke out. Since then, he has been evicted from his home, nearly killed his wife, Leah, through stupid decisions, who divorced him before being branded a traitor to Ladragia and killed, and forced to take up residence anew as a homeless man. He learned how to steal by watching the resistance movements from afar, and has since taken to wandering the streets alone, avoiding trouble whenever possible. However, he is always quick to give food to refugees passing by him (partially because of OCPD and partially to atone for his cruelty to his wife), and steal viciously from any unarmed soldiers roaming the cities alone.

Abilities:

Gift of Flight: This ability causes Al's cane to grow wings, allowing him to use it as an easy means of short-distance transportation (if he's up to the ride), or as a ranged weapon that will return to his hands after being thrown.

Gift of Understanding: This ability allows Al to understand the speech of and converse with any birds in the area. This rarely sees use, but it's Al's favorite posession.

Gift of Truth: This ability, when used, forces someone to speak their opinion of Altair. He uses it only rarely, such as when walking into a foreign group of people, because it violates his OCPD code of ethics. The subject of this has no memory of ever speaking to Altair about the subject afterwards.

Accepted~

Oh and um, well, we've decided to change some elements of the story. Since nobody's joining as a Ladragian soldier, I'm taking them off the join list. Also, you no longer need a Val to be able to use magic. All people have the ability to use it naturally from now on. HOWEVER. The three ability limit is still in place. So you can only have three abilities at a time.

And to start, we'll need 7 Refugees. So far, we have... 4 Refugees, so that's three more people. Also, I'll increase the number of Rainbowpeoples that can join. Now, around 3 more can join.

Well, your magic's still more powerful. =P

It has a rather warm climate, which is ideal for all of those flowers to grow. It's really nice especially in the south, which is where most of the story will be taking place. As you go north though, to a place on the continent called the Skyneedle Mountains, it starts to get cold, and there's no flowers. Basically, it's hot and flowery in the south, cold and mountainy in the north.

The wildlife in the north tends to be things like wolves, etc, stuff with really thick fur. The south is hummingbirds (there's a lot of those down there, called Rainbowhummingbirds), and well, other things that live in warm climates on Earth. It has pretty much identical wildlife to Earth, except for a few creatures that don't exist on it. Like dragons. (You HAVE to have those) There's a few of them, but I won't go into detail for now about what they are~

Frankus Hurkitt

Name: Frankus Hurkitt

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Side: Refugee

Outfit: Frankus has a rather simple getup. He wears a brown button-up shirt, with small gold cufflinks in his cuffs, a brown-orange trouser, and a pair of brown boots. He usually wears a pair of thin rectangular glasses, or else keeps them in his shirt pocket. Most conspicuously, Frankus wears a large white lab coat over his clothes, making him look like a doctor, or some crazy scientist. He also conceals a small custom eight-shooter revolver in his trousers. The handle is made of a delicate pink-coloured rosewood and the metallic parts glisten a light blue.

Appearance: Frankus is somewhat tall, around 5'8. He has light brown hair, brown eyes and a skin that used to be pale in the past but looks like it had some exposure to sun. He is thin and has long legs that come short looking like stilts. He has quick, nimble fingers that have a delicate touch to them.

Personality: Frankus is rather quiet and tries to keep to himself. His innate attempts are to avoid disagreeing with other people or hurting their feelings, but does, unknowingly to himself, becomes stingy and sarcastic sometimes. He disassociates himself from a social life so that he can concentrate on other things around him which he believes are unknown to most people. His confidence is utmost when he is by himself, but tends to stutter and becomes confused in a high-pressure situation. Frankus himself remains largely unaffected by other peoples' comments or criticism. He doesn't disregard them but rather doesn't listen to them. This involuntary deafness usually leads to embarrassing situations. If given time and a patient atmosphere Frankus can then give his best in most situations.

History: Frankus was the son of a Ladragian Military Officer, and thus managed to get a good education for himself. He spent his time immersed in books and learning all that he could. He then started to study archaeology and did field work in a quarry near his home. He found many interesting artifacts relating to the history of Ladragia. He used his father's influence to keep from getting conscripted into the army, and joined Dusksfield's movement to gain more freedom for his research. Some of his artifacts had clues that pointed in the direction of the Rainbow Territories, which is where he intends to go next with the other refugees.

Abilities:

Bibliophile: Frankus applies magic to read books, and other written literature, instantly and memorise them.

Mirage Merge: Frankus gets engulfed into the earth to hide from his foes.

Earth Summon: The time that Frankus spent studying different artifacts have lead him to learn to summon some creatures of the Earth element. He can summon only one at a time, and takes a considerable time to summon them.

Sand Manta: A large hovering Manta Ray that provides good transport. Has a weak sand javelin attack, and can whip foes with it's tail.
Sand Turtle: A large non-moving turtle that has a trapdoor in it's shell, that can either store goods or shelter a couple of people.
Rock Owls: Calls a swarm of tiny dwarf owls that attack their foes with their rocky talons and beaks together.

Ooh, interesting character. Accepted~

Two more people. If nobody joins in after Frank in about a week, I think I'll go ahead and start this thing.

Yay, my first RP ever. I have a question, please. I hope it's not silly to ask but, will the RP be in third-person or first-person? Also, you added me as Hurkett in the list. It's Hurkitt. Thanks :]

Reserve rainbowperson please? Do not want to type out an to profile after midnight.

And also does my char HAVE to have a full name? The rp character I had in mind for this only has a title... I think he's well-suited for this.
