• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

The story of how we got pokemon

Why this is in Insanity: It's kinda like a conspiracy. Not really anything important in the pokemon forums I think.

This is detailing on Satoshi Tajiri. Enjoy. :3

Before he was very old, a random space/time rift aka a warp sucked him into the pokemon world. While there, he learned the language and eventually discovered Dialga and Palkia. He made a deal with the two to allow him to jump from this world to the pokemon world and back. He was granted this ability. On returning, he didn't say a thing about it. When he saw the fields and forests where he used to live covered in apartments, he was reminded of the bug collecting he used to do, and then this reminded him of what happened to him and he decided to make a game which had some real stuff from the pokemon world and some stuff he made up himself. He was of course not allowed to do so and was forced to release these games to the public. He never revealed the fact that he'd actually seen it. He also did not want to overload people with too many pokemon at once or too many facts at once, so he released the stuff slowly as each 'generation' progressed. He would also go back from time to time to learn a bit more and to get better sketches of all of the pokemon as his previous sketches weren't fully accurate, He decided by the 2nd generation he'd include some of the other colored pokemon he'd seen. He made up some palettes while others he'd seen such. The reality was, there were plenty of different colors for each pokemon. He gave a slight hint to it in one pokemon episode with a pink Butterfree and in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon with the purple Kecleon. He has not yet included any real regions from the pokemon world and has just made them all based on parts of Japan, honoring his home country.
Tag fact: Pokemon don't actually ever say their names, some however are smart enough or have the capability of speaking like a human. Most pokemon just make cries kind of like how he set it in the games. The only problem is, he could never get any accurate sound recordings back from the pokemon world.

EDIT: facts fixed. :P

Oh, the stuff going on about Satoshi is kinda theory. :P
I gathered things seen and then facts known here for it. XD

you do know that pokemon was created because as a kid satoshi collected bugs, put them in jars, and made them fight. that's how he got the idea and stuff. :O

well I heard that it was more like trading them instead of making them fight (man that's cruel) but yeah basically

Hey, that's what Satoshi wants you to think.

But why you gotta go in an' ruin his fun? He wasn't really serious, that's why it's in insanity.

because i like to ruin people's fun. :\

mmm i have a magazine that said exactly what i said earlier. he might have traded them as well, though.

Gah, I read a few of those facts wrong... See, I was using a few things that were historical about him...

So, to fix a bit of the historical mix-ups. :P

The reason for the made up stuff was to keep it convincing as fictional.

More facts: Pokemon don't have numbered stats, they were simply developed based on the fact that some pokemon were fast, some took certain kinds of hits better than others. They do not make battle simulators in the pokemon world as there are no stats. Satoshi made the stats based on his observations.

There are many legends surrounding a lot of pokemon. They considered a lot of these powerful legendaries as beings of creation. This however, is not the case. Arceus is able to bend things in reality to change them, people saw this and assumed he created the universe. Palkia did not create Space but is simply able to manipulate it, this is the same with Dialga and time. Groudon and Kyogre did not create land and sea; however, they can change what's already there via eruptions and floods.

Humans do eat pokemon; however, most pokemon meat is fatally toxic. For this reason, similar to here, they have come up with a meat substitute. I don't know the entire list of non-toxic pokemon; however, I do know that all eeveelutions can cause instant death if eaten.

Or am I?

Keep the questions coming, I'm liking it. :3

Why are all of the trees the same, except for the berry bearing ones, which are all completely different?
Why is it that you can only put honey on certain yellow trees?

That's in the games only. Really, you can put honey on any tree you feel like. Also, there are many different kinds of trees. In forests you may have a lot that look the same. Berry trees also don't look a thing like they do in the games, they look much like fruit trees in this world.
