.: Walker vs Zeta Reticuli :: Round One :.
2 vs. 2, doubles, set
DQ: 1 week
Banned: OHKO, Recovery, weather, anything that could damage a building to the point of collapse
Damage Cap: none
Arena: Battle Factory
Pretty much your bog standard, 'battle field in a building' appearance wise. There are a few scientists outside the rectangular border of the arena, nothing special. What is special is that the trainers here only get to use one of their own Pokémon for the battle. The other is provided by the Factory (by which I mean, one of a species randomized by the ref) and is returned at the end of the battle.
The referee enters the large, rectangular room, following a handful of scientists and moping about its failure to swipe even one of the hundreds of pokéballs it saw outside. It walks across the hexagonal tiles, and looks around the arena to figure out what kind of place it’s in. The room is identical to all the other rooms it managed to get lost in: large, with a high ceiling allowing for either extremely tall pokémon that have yet to be discovered or flyers (the former, definitely the former) and orange paint showing the ideal boundaries of the arena. A bisected rectangle, with a pokéball design in the centre – it’s the same design as any arena specifically for trainer battles.
In one of the two rooms outside the arena, Walker is led by a scientist around shelves filled with pokéballs, but the scientist suddenly stops him in the middle of the room and tells him to wait there. The scientist walks over to a shelf and picks one of the pokéballs, looks it over, and puts it back. Instead, he takes another one, and tosses the ball on the floor in front of him. An unown materialises in the air, and Walker is given the specially-marked pokéball in case the unown faints. A similar situation plays out in a similar room on the other side of the arena, though Zeta Reticuli receives a plusle instead.
Walker and Zeta Reticuli take their places just behind the rectangle’s outside borders, taking note of the other’s pokémon. The referee, taking note of their arrival, steps up to a third side of the borders while the scientists hang further back, close to the walls. Two settle down on the floor while others choose to observe the battle standing up. The referee declares the battle’s rules, confirms the pokémon squads, and declares the battle order.
The unown and plusle move toward the centre line, just on the line of the inner circle of the pokéball. Walker selects a pokéball from his belt, and a lotad materialises on the unown’s side of the field. Zeta Reticuli counters with his own water-type, a confident-looking mudkip, and calls out his orders. Walker, smirking, does the same, and also points out a problem in Zeta Reticuli’s orders. At Zeta Reticuli’s response, a scientist reveals himself as an experienced battle well-known among the league, expressing his confidence and giving Zeta Reticuli a handy booklet detailing every attack the league acknowledges the existence of. The pokémon, almost miraculously, wait until the humans are done… but no longer.

.: Actions :.
Plusle immediately starts running around the other three pokémon, moving too quickly for them to see. He makes several circles around them before Unown can even think of drawing out its inner power, and stops roughly in the same position as where he started. His newly-loosened-up muscles make it easier to move, and he’s even faster than before – although, judging by everyone else’s reactions he’s already much faster than they are.
The other three pokémon stare and/or blink at him, shocked by this display of speed and perhaps somewhat intimidated. Unown recovers first, drawing out the energy hidden deep in its body and soul. Brown orbs of energy appear around it, swirling around it. They swirl faster and faster, hiding Unown behind a curtain of dancing lights and hiding the glow around its body. Then the orbs fly at Plusle in a beam of swirling orbs, slamming into its stomach and drawing a cry of pain. Plusle whimpers, rubbing its stomach.
Senor Awesome puzzles over his current orders, not really recognising the move’s name. It sounds sort of familiar, like he’s heard
of it, but he doesn’t know the move itself. Grumbling, he continues standing where he is as Lily draws various toxins from her body. She brings it to her mouth, making a face at the horrible taste, and spews out an almost black mixture of wastes, spitting it against Plusle’s side and stomach. Plusle yelps, automatically covering his face although the toxins barely splash his cheek. The poison continues to drip off his side and onto the floor, and he stares at it with disgust. It doesn’t feel like anything yet, but it looks
nasty and horribly dirty.
Plusle, deciding he can probably wash it off later, closes his eyes and gathers electrical energy. He sparks dangerously around his entire body, and the sparks become brighter and stronger as he generates and stores more and more electricity. The static continues to build up in his fur, and as he stops charging, a few sparks still appear with every movement.
Swirling orbs of brown energy appear around Unown, orbiting it faster and faster and hiding it from view. It glows, still staring at Plusle, and the orbs rocket toward Plusle in a beam of swirling orbs. The beam strikes Plusle’s stomach again, setting off more sparks that neutralise some of the orbs, but this time Plusle manages to hold in his shout of pain. He glares at Unown, fully intending to make it pay.
Senor Awesome chirps more cheerfully now that he has a command he knows how to follow. He opens his mouth as wide as he can, pointing in Lily’s general direction. A tiny blue, glowing dot appears in his mouth, and the dot grows into a larger orb of pale blue light. Then a beam of blue energy suddenly shoots out toward Lily, making her gasp at the sudden blast of icy energy. The beam leaves some frost on the side of her face and leaf. Thin shards of ice fall off her face while others cling to her more stubbornly.
Lily glares at Senor Awesome, though her glare gives way to a smirk. A glowing green dot appears, hovering above her lily pad. Like the Ice Beam before it, the dot grows into a large green orb, though much brighter and more difficult to look at. Plusle and Senor Awesome both have to squint at the bright light, and Senor Awesome is unprepared when the ball flies at him and strikes his forehead and sensitive fin, forcing him onto his hind legs for a moment. He returns to standing position with a shake of his head, scowling now.
Plusle sparks brilliantly, surrounded by crackling electricity and even more blinding than Lily’s energy ball. A large bolt of electricity leaps from his body and toward Unown, frying its flat body. It doesn’t make a sound, but it shudders violently under the assault. Plusle grins, but Unown stares back and once again surrounds itself with a curtain of dancing brown lights. Plusle’s grin fades as he realises exactly what’s coming, and braces himself for the attack. As expected, a swirling beam of orbs strikes his stomach, and he grits his teeth, refusing to give Unown the satisfaction of hearing him scream.
Senor Awesome, seeing that no rocks are in sight, closes his eyes and tries to draw rocks from beneath the floor, nearly grunting with effort. However, nothing appears; there isn’t even a sound implying that something crashed into the floor. As he continues trying to summon rocks, a brilliant green ball of energy grows over Lily’s leaf. She takes her time taking in natural energy from the world around her (although the likely sources aren’t visible, it’s still there) – she isn’t worried about being attacked, and Senor Awesome looks comical in his futile attempt to attack. With a growl, the energy orb rockets at Senor Awesome, this time striking his forehead more directly. This draws another grunt, though from surprise and pain this time, and he opens an eye to glare at the source. Lily smirks back.
