I just decided to start a mono-fighting challenge on my Emerald.

I said "screw the rules" and did a Ghost monotype for Blue. I Mew glitch'd myself a Gengar as soon as I could and used that until I could get to Lavender Town. I had decided to use 3 Pokémon (one Gengar, two Haunters) because, well, I felt like it. Also, there was no way that I would use Gastly. I ended up with:

Note: The Elite Four, barring Agatha and somewhat Lorelei, get destroyed by ghost types in RBY. Lance can barely touch them.

I did a steel monotype in platinum. My team was empoleon, lucario, magnezone, and bronzong, with a steelix i found on victory road and a lvl 15 probopass as death fodder. Needless to say, Garchompp screw'd me over, but i won eventually (bronzong was heatproof)

Alright this sounds fun, though considering the fact that all of my Mono Type teams consist of the starter and two or three HM slaves... anyone have a tip on what type I should do for the most challenge on G/S/C?

Brock, Misty, Surge beat! Brock was a Major fluke, though. Butterfree took down Geodude, but got Rock Tombed right off the bat by Onix, but not before Onix got poisoned. Beedrill lucked out, Onix basically just used Bind and Tackle on it, and when Rock Tomb was used, missed. Eventually poison and Beedrill's Fury Attack got the better of it, though.

Notes: Beat Roxanne after about... a lot of tries! She was harder than I expected but -with luck- I managed to beat her. I have a good feeling Brawly will be easier.
On another note, I have a bit of training I have to take care of. I hate training Magikarps...

Why not use an Armaldo? Not that you have to or anything, just that's what I'd probably consider.

oh yeah, forgot about that. I'll use it over masquerain.

edit: update, evolved both wurmples, both became silcoons, caught and evolved another one, cascoon. I then released the extra silcoon and my treeko. I evolved my silcoon and cascoon is level 9. Haven started petelburg woods yet.
edit2: trained bueatifly to level 15, dustox to 13, and a nincada I caught to 11. I beat Roxanne by spamming sand attack with nincada on her first geodude, switched out, gave beuatifly a Xspecial and killed the first two geodudes with aborb. i then tried that with nose pass but it barely did anthing. I started spamming sand attack again but fainted after two of 'em. Dustox came in, took one hit, and I realized I had only one option; I gave it a potion and used harden 6 times, then won with confusion (at which point it leveled up, learning gust and I promptly deleted harden.) Brawly was no prob with 4x resists on fighting moves with both dustox and beautifly, though I went though the cave before hand without the badge or flash. Off to slateport now

Erika beat! Pokemon Tower beat! Giovanni beat! No problems so far, unless you count the fact that I spent almost all of my cash and coins on a Scyther at the Game Corner. Yeah, I can't be bothered to wait until the Safari Zone comes along.

The strategy I try to use for Maxie is:
1. Send in my Zigzagoon HM Slave to suck up Mightyena's Intimidate and faint.
2. Swith into Breloom and spam Mach Punch
3. Switch to Gloom and Poison Camerupt
4. Swith Back to Breloom and spam Mach Punch/Mega Drain until Camerupt is low Health.
5. Switch to Nuzleaf and X Attack while Camerupt faints of poisoning.
6. Spam Nuzleaf's Nature Power (which is Rock Slide at Mt. Chimney) on Golbat and hope that he doesn't get KO'd.

Any Ideas?
