It's feeding time
Once, hundreds of years ago, Salome, this world, was ruled by humans.
You've probably seen a human before. You know those that travelling merchants who most likely pass through your village from time to time, or maybe even one or two live quietly amongst you? Those fleshy, naked sorts wearing the hides of animals? Yeah, that was a human, once the supreme ruler of these lands, man has been reduced to small nomadic groups, with very little chance of surviving the tests of time.
So, what happened to the once so great kingdom of mankind? It's a long and rather complex story.
In the days of old, our kind did not exist. There were humans, and lots of them. So many this planet, which was known as "Earth" back then, could not hold them all. They were cunning, building gigantic homes of steel and glass, machines that moved for them, machines that cooked for them, and machines that worked for them. And then they created weapons. Weapons that could kill from across a room, weapons like fangs held in hand, weapons with the power to destroy entire towns. All that power became the root of problems, as man started massive wars against his fellow kind. Eventually, things went out of control, and in a matter of years, Salome was stained black and red from scorched ground and blood. All the buildings, all their machines and even their weapons were destroyed.
In the end, less then a tenth of the population survived, and the planet was almost dead. Most of the knowledge humans had collected of their world was destroyed, and there was nothing left for them on the planet. It had been so badly destroyed by all the wars and weapons that eventually, the ground cracked open all the way to its core.
And that was when something changed.
Man often thought that, in the very middle of Salome were nothing but scorching fire, eternally burning beneath our feet. But we know it's not true, we who live today. Rather, kept inside Salome was something man never thought to exist.
It was magic.
As the ground had cracked all the way down to the core, magic began escaping through it and reached the world above, where its mystical properties slowly restored nature, but also twisted them around it's own axis. Nature changed, animals changed, and with that, the humans left had to change as well.
The following part is most likely the one shrouded in the most fog, the origin of our species and the reason man slowly disappeared off the face of Salome.
It all began with one female human, whose real name has been lost in the ages, but is today called Mother Maria, a name derived from an old human legend about a woman who gave birth to the son of god. Mother Maria, who watched as nature slowly restored itself, began thinking, and realized just how powerless and maybe even pathetic the humans was when standing next to the wonders of world. This was something that had never been seen before, and it was true acceptance, the knowledge of one being nothing but a speck of dust in the void of existence, but also appreciating the world and all its wonder. This sparked something, a change.
You see, the fleshy appearance of a man is nothing but a twisted and almost unrecognisable image of their true form, the form of their soul. When Mother Maria reached true acceptance, the magic that resided in her soul began resonating with the magic of the world around her, and the deceitful body which she donned took it's true form, which was also the form of her soul. What resulted was neither man nor animal, but rather, something in between. Mother Maria became the first Helelian, as we're known today.
At first, the humans was reluctant about her true appearance, but when they saw what Maria new form was capable of, she soon became respected amongst the humans. With her soul doubtless and unhindered, Maria could effortlessly use magic, something her human companions had great trouble with. Soon, more humans came to reach true acceptance, and they too, turned into Helelians. With their far more magical nature and adaptability, Helelians soon outnumbered humans and spread around the newly restored world, which they now had entitled Salome, the name we use to this day. Some humans had pride in their humanity, and stubbornly lived on as they were. But as a human and a Helelian cannot reproduce, humans diminished even more in number, reducing them to the nomads we know today. Helelians, on the other hand, grew to become a peaceful race that effortlessly adapt to the world around them.
-A text taken from the book "Fall and rise, the history of Helelians" by the head scholar Throon the Wise
Welcome to Hiimelgard, the biggest of all Helelian cities! Being in the middle of the lands that has been explored by Helelians, Hiimelgard is essentially the center of attention, and merchants, travellers and adventurers all the way from the cold reaches of Isenord to the tropical jungles of Reinstad. Hiimelgard is a very active city, with its big marketplace and wide variety of other activities. Children play on the streets or study magic and many other important subjects in school, while adults work, take care of their homes or maybe enjoy their time in other activities. But probably the most impressive part of the city is Heaven's tower, a tall tower inhabited by no one else than Throon the Wise, one of the most important Helelian's of recent time.
Maybe you live here in Hiimelgard, or maybe you're an explorer passing into the city to buy supplies for your next adventure. Or maybe you're something as illusive as a human, on your through the city on your journey with your group. But either way, things are still to change spectacularly...

Holy crap that took me four hours to write I think.
So yeah, this RP takes place in the world of Salome, a magical realm mainly inhabited by a race called Helelians, a peaceful race of anthropomorphic animals, but there are some humans as well. if you have a hard time understanding how the world looks, then just think of a rather average fantasy world. I'll be going in more detail on the races, cities and various animals down below.
RACES:
Helelians, are a generally peaceful bunch, with great understanding of the world and magic. Helelians have the appearance of anthropomorphic animals, and do as such have a wide variety of looks. They are generally shorter than an adult human, but there are off course exceptions. Due to their magical nature, Helelians quickly adapt to new environments, and can easily use magic for both menial tasks and combat. However, unless a Helelian is trained, it will most likely loose a melee fight.
Humans, exist in few numbers and generally live in nomadic groups, but a few have settled in one of the many Helelian villages. Humans are not very magical in nature, and as thus have a much harder time using it than a Helelian would. As a trade-off, human magic is unpredictable and can be far more dangerous. Humans are usually taller than Helelians, and usually physically stronger as well. They usually make a living off hunting and collecting resources, and trading them to Helelian merchants.
CITIES:
Hiimelgard, is the biggest Helelian city and lies in center of the explored world. Hiimelgard is buzzing with life at all times, filled with stores, schools, libraries and many other things. In addition, Hiimelgard holds the biggest of all Helelian buildings, Heaven's tower. it also holds the main base of Explorer's Guild, a massive organization with the goal of making a map over the whole world, as much of it still is unknown.
Isenord, lies in the farthest reaches of the north, and it is always snowing there. Due to the cold climate, Helelians living in Isenord have much thicker, often white fur than those who live in the rest of the known Salome.
Reinstad, lies in the south-west of Salome, in the middle of a rainforest. Reinstad is the home of many farmers, as the climate is perfectly fit for growing a lot of fruit and herbs. A lot of reptile-esque Helelians like it here.
Tatramork, is one of the least populated towns in all of Salome, which is due to its position and general wildlife. Lying next to the mountains in the east, Tatramork is generally the preferred home of expert hunters, as they can make a fortune off the hides and bodies of the rare creatures that live in the area.
There are many major towns and smaller villages around the world of Salome, many which go unnamed, and these are just a few of them.
ANIMALS:
Colma*, are very intelligent creatures, though quiet and unable to speak, communicating in churrs and growls. The creatures are massive in size, growing to more than 30 hands tall in some cases, and covered in a shaggy smoky grey fur, though individuals have been known to be darker or lighter on occasion. They are dotted with stripes of nearly any colour, from white to vibrant purple, and their long, thick claws match the shade. They have tufted ears that range from floppy and small to large and bat-like, and round, lamp-like yellow eyes. They rarely show teeth except when surprised, angered, or scared, and when they do, the grin is wide and full of sharp teeth. Due to their size and endurance, Colma are used for transportation.
* The Colma was created and allowed for me to use here by Full Metal Cookies and all credit goes to her.
Chirr, is a small rodent-like creature, not much bigger than an adult human's hand. They are covered wide, square-shaped metal plates, which they use to defend themselves, as their small claws are very much unusable for fighting. Chirrs are social creatures, and often kept as pets.
Slitherface, is one of the strangest but most helpful of creatures. They have long, white serpentine bodies, two pair of small arms with six long, bony fingers. They have round heads with small, black eyes and wide mouths, locked into dark smiles. Their mouths are filled with two rows of long, thin teeth, usually more than 100 of them. They also have long, black tongues, known to stretch at least ten feet. Slitherfaces feed on the magic of other living creatures, and are often found coiled around good hunters who give off magic the Slitherface is particularly fond of. As the soul constantly produces magic, it's possible to have a Slitherface accompanying you for quite some time. Slitherfaces are great assistance to hunters, as they can sense magic and can be used for tracking down prey, as well as holding their own in battle. Oddly enough, not a single Slitherface carcass has been found, and it's generally thought they cannibalize their dead.
Dragon, the nightmare of all travellers and the dream of all hunters. Dragons are unintelligent, carnivorous and brutal reptiles. Most dragons have wings and can fly, but some don't. Dragons are very rare but highly aggressive and will often attack the slight provocation. Dragons are often sought after by expert hunters, as the entire body of a dragon has its use and can be sold for high prices. The skin can be used to make armour, the bones can be used for construction, the eye, horns and tongue are used in many medicines, and the meat is considered a delicacy. Dragons have long lifespans, over 400 years, and grow from child to adult at a very fast pace. Despite being rather unintelligent, dragons are highly magical creatures that can breathe fire, and old dragons can often cast spells or use powerful curses, and the oldest ones are said to be capable of communicating.
Quiet obviously, there are many other animals, but I suppose we can see these as "More important ones"

To begin with, rules.
- Proper writing is a must
- Try writing a good character, no Mary Sues in other words
- If you don't write enough, I won't accept you
- Yadda yadda godmodding *shakes fist angrily*
- If your character piss me off, I will kill it
- This RP is my baby goddamn, treat it as such.
- Put the name of the first Helelian in your post and bold it to show you read all of that
- No animal that exists today lives in Salome unchanged. You can use animals to describe your character, though. If you want to make up an animal or city or plant or whatever, send me a message properly describing it, and maybe I'll accept it into the cannon of the RP.
- Try to have fun, will you? <3
