Open The City of Dreams

Zilina is a city inhabited by humans and their Pokemon. Situated on a river and nestled between great mountain ranges, it grew into an important factory city.

However, one corporation (often known simply as 'the Corporation') was able to rise above it's competition, buying up Zilina's industries, resources, and transport. Eventually, the city's government was bought out and marginalized, turning Zilina into a corporatocracy.

The ruling board of directors had a plan drafted that would transform the core residential areas into an 'upper city' whose residents, anybody that was not a lower-class laborer or factory worker, would live at the highest standard of living possible, living comfortably surrounded by high technology and freedom from industrial pollution.

However, the majority of residents in the city would be kept in impovershed working-class housing, consisting of the older city sectors not deemed suitable for the project, and newly-built large, overcrowded tenements that sometimes stood far too close to the factories. The most care the Corporation gives to the 'lower city' is constant surveillance to ensure that workers work and live in a 'positive enviroment'.

This project became known as the Sigma City Project, and most of it has been completed, with Sigma City a gleaming upper city rising above the poor masses of laborers below. It is tiered for different sorts of residents. The tiers form concentric rings. From the outermost ring inward, they are for: clerks, security workers, and scientists; government officials; deparment administrators; and finally, the board of directors and their families. Everyone else lives in the squalid 'lower city', where conditions range from barely tolerable in the new tenements, to inhospitable in the old city. While Sigma City's residents 'work to live', old Zilina's residents are made to 'live to work.'

Resistance is present, however. Many laborers' movements combined to form the 'Worker's Vanguard', a resistance group that fights the Corporation. They usually hide out in the lower city and prove to be a thorn in the Corporation's side in a myriad of ways. They are mercilessly hunted by the Internal Security Department, who often post, ineffectual, rewards for capture of members as well as ordinary violent methods. A few years ago, they successfully organized a mass riot, which got about a sixth of the laborer population killed, mostly because Internal Security rounded up and killed many laborers, regardless of whether or not they were rioting.

Also active is Team Galactic's Zilina Branch. They were about to corner the energy market with their research, and thus have a shot at taking Zilina for themselves, but were squashed by Internal Security after an exhaustive operation of searches and executions. However, they managed to sneak away into the shadows, and operate in opposition to the Worker's Vanguard and the Corporation. Team Galactic cannot hope to challenge the Corporation as they are now, though. Nor can they afford to face the Vanguard in open warfare. They mostly perform smalltime operations against both sides, however some say that they are bringing in more and more reinforcements every day.

There are two major genetic experiments of note:

Project 2884, or the Hydra Experiments, successfully created hybrids of humans and Pokemon. The new mutants are used as heavy-duty laborers and specialists in Zilina's industries. They have powers from their genetic splicing, but they are weaker than those of a normal Pokemon. The hybrids are constantly viewed with suspicion by Internal Security, who maintains stricter laws for hybrids than for normal humans. They are also found in Sigma City as pets or slaves of the residents.

Project Empath tampered with Pokemon genetics. The objective was to create Pokemon that had elemental powers beyond what their species was normally capable of. Pokemon which were normally one type could be enhanced with a second type, and Pokemon with two types could gain a third. They were also evolved to be able to speak with humans, and are either employed by Internal Security as elite guards, usually partnered with a human operative. Some, however, are reported missing, and suspected to have run off to join the Worker's Vanguard, or have been kidnapped by Team Galactic.

Name: Radovan Masaryk

Appearance: Radovan has black-brown hair, usually unkept, and dark brown eyes. He stands at around 6 feet. On the job, Radovan typically wears a white t-shirt, gray trousers, a brown trenchcoat, and a pair of leather loafers.

Personality: On the job, Radovan is all-business. He takes a dim view of anyone who is fighting the corporation, showing no mercy, never backing down and holding a near flawless record of arrests, though he's not exactly brutal. In his new role, he is calm and collected, usually sure of himself. Once duty ends and he gets home, though, he is laid back and quite friendly.
Biography: Radovan is the son of a department head, though he chose to work Internal Security early on, despite his father's protests. He got the job easily, and hasn't done much since, besides changing roles from an ordinary beat patrol to a special investigator. He lives in a comfortable condominium in Sigma City.

Personality: Ursula is usually practical and observant. She notices things that Radovan won't see. Otherwise, she tends to be quiet on the job. She doesn't often see a need to be violent, though it never gets in the way of helping Radovan out, always doing what he says on duty. Much like Radovan, she relaxes once they get home.
Biography: Ursula was one of the first subjects of Project Empath, and a successful one, at that. For most of her life, she has been placed under the custody of corporate scientists, observing how the genetic modifications affected her. However, the trial phase ended and she was placed into service under Internal Security, assigned to Radovan as a partner.

Personality: Hermes has a simple AI built-in, which tends to be sardonic in nature. Otherwise, it follows directives from above to the letter, but also accepts commands from authorized operators, mostly Internal Service personnel. Hermes is very analytical, as is fitting for a surveillance unit.
Biography: Hermes is a surveillance Porygon2, employed by the Corporation to watch over the laborers of the lower city, and pursue suspects, if need be. It can also deliver messages and communicate with all Internal Security personnel. Hermes's area is roughly the same as the sector Radovan is assigned.

Appearance: Ropisa is missing the fruit around her neck, and instead there are small buds where they should be.

Side: Worker's Vanguard

Personality: Ropisa is somewhat depressed from the work she was put through in Zilina. She rarely responds to social interaction, and the only thing someone is likely to get out of her is a 'hello' and a few grunts if they keep trying to talk to her. She is rather timid.

Biography: Ropisa was born and raised in Zilina as the daughter of a retired trainer's beloved Tropius. She lived very well for around two years, but then things started going downhill. As her trainer began running out of money, he was forced to sell several Pokemon, including Ropisa, to the Corporation. From then on, Ropisa lived every day working. She was mainly used for food, as her fruits were picked yearly to sell in fancy restaraunts at high prices in Sigma City. Otherwise, she spent time doing hard labor, lifting things that couldn't be lifted by humans and giving people in Sigma City rides. She was almost worked to death, and when she recovered, she realized how horrible the Corporation was, and fled to the Worker's Vanguard.

Personality: Kino is very optimistic and eccentric. He loves to laugh just as much as he loves to make others laugh. He's always smiling. He's courageous, and is always eager to fight a new foe, although he doesn't like wars.

Biography: Kino was born into the Worker's Vanguard, and never really knew how awful the living conditions of the workers in Zilina was until Ropisa showed up. He now fights even harder for their good, and is constantly trying to cheer her up now.

Personality: Storm is quick to act and think, and is a good leader. She devotes most of her time to the Worker's Vanguard, and in the short time she has to herself, trains. Storm isn't very social, and warms up slowly to others. She is slow to trust, but when she can trust someone, she protects them to the best of her ability.
Biography: Storm is an escaped empath, and was born in a lab as an egg. When she had become a Shelgon and was paired with a human, she escaped to the Worker's Vanguard and worked her way up through the ranks to become the second in command. During her time she met Shadowstreak and oddly, started to work with her.

Personality: Sarcastic and extremely pessimistic, Shadowstreak is not someone you want on your bad side. She holds long grudges, and will kill anything or anyone that gets in her way, or just seriously injure them. Shadowstreak has a sadistic sense of humor, and is very dark. Pretty much a typical Weavile.
Biography: Shadowstreak was born in a lab like Storm, but only escaped three years ago. She was partnered with a rather uptight human who abused her, but managed to escape anyways, and found herself with the Worker's Vanguard. Shadowstreak stole herself a Razor Claw and evolved, and ended up working with Storm. She promises to kill the leader of the Corporation, or at least their head scientist in the bloodiest, most painful way she can think of.

Personality: Tuma views himself as a natural born leader, one destined to conquer. He is cautious and manipulative, and his interests are not personal, they are for the benefit of the Team. In battle, he is a strategic genius, and usually takes long and complex means to achieve victory. He often remains in the shadows, usually sending his orders by means of messenger pokemon. There is only one other pokemon among the team who has seen him face-to-face.
Biography: Tuma was the Weavile owned by Cyrus. When Cyrus decided to reamin in the Distorition World, Tuma secretly escaped. He remained in the shadows for years, until he eventually reached the city of Zilina. Using a Bronzong as his envoy, he dispensed a message to other members of the Team in that branch to remain in the shadows after he'd seen what had become of them. He did not realize that even as he manipulated the Team, he himself was being slowly manipulated.

Personality: You could describe Malum as Tuma's opposite. the only case that the two are similar is that they are strategic geniuses, and that they both use long and complex methods to achieve their ends. Malum is what could be called the "voice in Tuma's ear," i.e. that he has an influence on him. Malum's desire for conquering is based purely off of self-interest, and his plans are all centered around influencing Tuma, though he would kill the Weavile in an instant if he decided Tuma was no longer any use.
Biography: Malum is the Bronzong that Tuma used as his envoy. The two first met when Tuma was traveling to the city. At the time, Malum saw little interest in the Weavile; and it didn't help that he was ocne Cyrus' pokemon; the Bronzong ridiculed the plan of the former leader, thinking that creating a new world, a world devoid of spirit, was pointless. However, once Tuma decided to use Malum as his messenger the first time around, Malum saw something he could gain from him. He quickly established himself as Tuma's right-hand pokemon, and began to influence the Weavile whenever he saw fit. He is even now biding his time, waiting for the moment when the Vanguard and the Corporation are weakened and Tuma achieves victory, waiting for the moment to strike.

Personality: Tanya's often seen as an enigma to others. To some, she can seem warm and motherly, and can be very wise and helpful, teaching and giving advice. To others, she's seen as a ruthless, vindictive bi... individual, one to be shunned and feared. Still others see her as an object of desire, sly and crafty in using her natural beauty. So which of these is true? The answer: yes. She can be all of these, depending on her mood, and depending on how she sees others. And she can change between these seemingly incompatible personalities in the blink of an eye. So what is she? What remains through it all is, she's a bright, cunning individual, vain and slightly spoiled, with an essence of superiority and a desire for more.
Biography: Tanya spent her first 5 years of her life within the confines of the many Laboratories involved in Project Empath. There, she was seen as a worthless, good for nothing, ugly, weak, slow, pitiful, and stupid Feebas. And she just didn't seem to be able or willing to evolve. Finally, the scientists decided she was a lost cause, a failed experiment, and went to dispose of her by dumping her down a storm drain. She got stuck and flailed around on the side of the road for almost an hour, when a drunk, down-on-his-luck (or maybe just lazy) guy in middle management walked out of a city bar and found her. He took her to his home, and began to take care of her, using her as a reminder that hey, he wasn't the most worthless life form out there after all. That lasted about two weeks, when his care finally helped her evolve. As she was evolving, she finally spoke her first words, telepathically to him. "Thank you. Now I will grant your wish." Now a Milotic, Tanya proved herself to have completely changed. She was now beautiful, strong, and brilliant... and she knew it. Using her charm and wit, as well as carefully planned strategy, she helped her new partner turn around his failing division, and helped him begin to move up the corporate ladder. Within only 4 years, one of the fastest ever, he's become an Executive, much of it due to her manipulation. Now, she currently 'technically' acts as his bodyguard and aide, although only the two of them know that she's actually much more...

Appearance: Because she's also Fire type, oddly, she has tabby cat-like stripes on her skin, but not on her shell, that are lava red.

Side: Team Galactic
Personality: Shellby is the one of the group that tends to act tough. She can be arrogant and bossy, and maybe even a bit ambitious. But she's sensitive to others and often is friendly despite her rough appearance. However, you don't want her to lose her short temper; she can be rash and even out of control. However, Shellby's loyalty is comparable to a Growlithe's. Though she was kidnapped, she is blindly loyal to Team Galactic because she thinks they saved her.
Biography: After being experimented on, she gained her Fire type and the ability to fire not only water, but flames out of her cannons as well. She was kidnapped by greedy members of Team Galactic, however. But, since she wasn't treated well in the past, she got the idea that they had saved her and grew extremely loyal.

Name: Eruzione "Zone"

Appearance: Eruzione Is 5'9" long, but is surprisingly thin for a Camerupt hybrid. He has tan skin, red messy hair which reach about his neck. He have black eyes and usually looks kind of half asleep. He also have three blue rings at each side of his stomach, thought this is usually not visibly due the fact he wears clothes. He wears a red T-shirt, just as red pants, and a pair of black boots which look somewhat heavy. There is actually two volcanoes that stick out of his back, making holes in his shirt, but he wears a cape to hide them. Eruzione also usually carries around a sack filled with Pokémon eggs, as he works with making eggs hatch due his Magma Armour ability, he carries around this sack with caution.

Personality: "Zone" as he is called, is usually calm, not being disturbed by most things, but at the same time, he can be pretty ill tempered and stubborn, And like with a Camerupt, if he's hit in the face, he goes on a mad rage.

Biography: Zone was bought as a slave/pet at a Pokémon day care center, tasked with working endlessly to make eggs hatch, getting nearly no sleep what so ever. But he grew found of doing this for some reason, but was still treated as a slave. he eventually escaped by blowing up the security in the building at night and ran off, after which he was found by Team Galactic, yet he continued his duty of walking around carrying sacks of egg, waiting for them to hatch.

Appearance: Maris has long, straight hair that is a lavender-white color. She has crystal blue eyes. With a slender build, she stands at about 5'4" and wears a plain white T-shirt and black sweatpants.

Side: Team Galactic

Personality: Maris sometimes gets nervous while working hard with the Galactics, but she tries to do her best. Even so, she believes that trying your best is more important than doing your best. She's friendly towards Pokemon but also is easily distracted.

Biography: As a child, Maris lived in a hidden part of the city. She attempted not to draw attention to her family and keeping them as out-of-sight as possible. When she was 15 she joined Team Galactic to even the city out, and meanwhile she captured her own Ghost-types.

Biography: Moonlight was born from a Flareon and Glaceon. Her parents and siblings were killed by Team Galactic while she was still an Eevee, so she vowed to get revenge. Then she found the Corporation, where she evolved into an Umbreon and became an Empath shortly after.
