Arena: The Harbour Quay

The battle takes place at the Harbour Quay in Port Alberni, BC, Canada at about noon on a weekday. The ground is paved with cobblestones and concrete, with a very large stone fountain in the centre. The fountain has several salmon statues which spout water, and large amounts of coinage scattering the bottom. These coins can be picked up, but will take an action to do so, and if you try and take more than five, a police officer will appear and stop you. Each coin is worth 1$.

There are quite a few shops lining the Quay; a donut shop, a gift shop, a cafe, and an art gallery on one side, and a large clock tower with a restaurant called 'Water's Edge' underneath it on the other. There are no people in the picnic tables when the battle starts, but a person or two may wander over later The ocean is not too far away either, and several boats are floating serenely there. There is a (empty) parking lot next to Water's Edge, though someone may park there.

Sometimes it gets really windy. Like, really windy. This could mess up projectile attacks and is up to the ref to decide how much.

Chances: Car parking - 20%/round, Person showing up - 25%/round. Wind Speed+ - 20%/round

Pokemon start with 150% energy and cannot chill.

[Roger] Enculli (M) Mold Breaker

[Kiki] Bibarel (F) Simple

Signature Modification: Resistance to Criticism

As a Bibarel, Kiki is often made fun of and criticized for being what she is. As a result, Kiki acquired a thick skin, if you will, towards being made fun of. It is nearly impossible to make her angry, and she has an eternally cheerful and optimistic outlook on life.

Effects: Kiki is always happy and cheerful, no matter what. Whenever she uses Return, it gets a 2% Damage bonus, while Frustration gets a 5% reduction. Taunt and Torment have a 50% chance of not working at all on her, and Swagger doesn't cause an Attack increase. Confusion caused by Flatter has a 75% chance of her hurting herself, however.

[Pipiri] Happiny (F) Serene Grace @ Oval Stone

[Alleine] Cubone (F) Rock Head

[Kate] Glameow (F)
Ability: Own Tempo

Signature Move: Glamour Shot
Glameow are known to hypnotize enemies with their large enchanting eyes, and Kate has perfected this ability. She looks her foe in the eyes, and sends them a mental signal that convinces them that they are the most beautiful creature in existence. If the suggestion is successful, the foe is completely in love with themselves, and will take every opportunity to groom, preen, strut, or just stare in awe at their own refection. This may cause them to ignore orders. The move will fail if the foe has no eyes, or cannot see due to darkness or other obstructions. It will also fail if the foe’s ability is Oblivious.

Psychic / 90% Accuracy / -- Damage /Energy: 5%/ Other / Effect: causes the foe to become attracted to themselves / Usage Gap: 2 rounds for the end of effects

[Apollo] Nidoran♂ (M) Poison Point

[Zarin] Eevee (M) Steadfast @ Soothe Bell

Body Modification: Aura Born

Zarin's father was a Lucario, and by some miracle of breeding, he inherited some of the Riolu line's unique ability to control aura. The power is still weak due to his young age, but this grants him some new abilities. He has a small amount of power over his own aura and can use it to preform a few attacks, and granted him a new ability; Steadfast. These attacks are Mind Reader, Calm Mind, Dark Pulse, and a weak Aura Sphere. The Aura Sphere is not as strong as it could be if he were really a Riolu or Lucario, so it's base power is and is 70 instead of 90 costs 2% more energy.

But this breeding also deprived him of a few moves that Eevee would normally be able to use, namely Growth, Trump Card, Last Resort, and Tickle.

Effects: Ability change to Steadfast, - Growth, Trump Card, Last Resort, Tickle. + Mind Reader, Calm Mind, Dark Pulse, Aura Sphere (70 power +2% Energy cost).

[Cookie] Budew (F) Battle Armour

Body Mod: Full Metal

Cookie was born quite different from most of her kind; She lacked the Poison type common to the Budew line, and instead was part Steel. This was attributed to the fact that there were Mawile a few generations back in her family tree. She lacks a few things that most of her kind have; the Poison type, of course, a few poison attacks, and the Poison Point ability. Instead she can use steel attacks and has the ability 'Battle Armour'.

Effects: Cookie is a Steel/Grass type. Ability changed to Battle Armour. - Sludge Bomb + Iron Head.

It is a beautiful sunny spring day at the Harbour Quay, warm enough to allow for comfortable t-shirt and shorts. The water is still too cold to swim in comfortably, which may explain the lack of townspeople and tourists from enjoying the sparkling beach sands and waters, and the lack of people and cars. But it is noon, according to the clock tower, so the place isn’t entirely empty: a few people can be seen through the windows of the shops and restaurants.

Cobblestones and concrete cover the ground, making for a rather bumpy ride as three trainers/referees bike past the fountain set in the centre of the Harbour Quay. They don’t mind too much, though, as it signals the end of a long ride. The trio park their bikes by a mailbox and walk over to the fountain; the two females watch the salmon statues spitting out water while the genderless one is more amused by the colourful patches of flowers that do their best in giving the fountain a splash of colour. They talk for a moment, setting out the rules, and then the females walk in nearly opposite directions for several metres. They don’t intend to use the fountain much, so they’re keeping it to the side, and the referee prefers to sit on the fountain’s edge, anyway.

To Full Metal Cookies and moon-panther, this is familiar, and it’s the closest they have been to home since they joined the ASB league. Perhaps appropriately, then, the rules of this battle is different from their previous matches. The winner will be determined not by skill, but by luck. Nearly everything will be determined by luck, in fact, and they have very little control over the course of the battle.

While Full Metal Cookies shows an almost psychopathic disregard for damage the battle may cause to her hometown and the people living within, moon-panther doesn’t particularly want to cause any lasting damage to Port Alberni. Still, she doesn’t mind putting the area at risk, and is willing to put the fate of their homes in the hands of a random number god. Both trainers stand across from each other, with the fountain between them but off to the side, as they don’t want the fountain in the way of the match. Both are already holding a pokéball in their hands, having already chosen their pokémon before the match started.

The referee takes a coin from the fountain to determine the battle order. Unlike some other matches, this coin flip is not watched with bated breath. The referee lets it fall back into the fountain without much expression, and barely glances at the coin before calling the battle order. Full Metal Cookies flicks her wrist and tosses the pokéball onto the cobblestones, where it splits open and spews out a brilliant white light that forms a round, glowing berry-like shape. The light has barely faded to reveal a cheerful happini when another pokéball hits the ground and an abra materialises a couple of metres away from the happini. moon-panther and Full Metal Cookies call out their all-too-predictable orders, mainly as a formality that also allows them to comment on the match. It is true that they have one other, slightly tempting alternate order, but who cares about money when there’s a town to destroy?

.: Actions :.

Kammu raises both hands, each pointing one finger to the sky. He waggles his fingers, rather clumsily at first, but he quickly settles on a rhythm that both fingers follow. His fingers glow white, followed by the rest of his hands, and he makes two fists that he raises. He throws his hands forward, opening them, and golden dust spills forth from the light. The powder blows past Pipiri, just narrowly missing her and scattering around on and between the cobblestones.

Pipiri looks at the glittering golden dust on the ground, admiring how pretty it is, then (having no fingers of her own) waggles her stubby arm-bumps. Her rhythm is slower than Kammu’s, and perhaps this affects the move given to her by the gods. Her arms glow, then one grows to several times its not-that-respectable length. Pipiri runs as fast as her stubby legs will take her, then jumps up with power not her own, slamming her lengthened arm up into Kammu’s jaw. Both fly up, although Kammu falls first and lands roughly on the ground; Pipiri continues up, higher than most of the shops around the Harbour Quay, then above the clock tower, before gravity overcomes her. She lands lightly on the ground, eyes shining delightedly. That was awesome!

Kammu rubs at his sore jaw with one hand while waggling a finger with the other. Nothing happens, though, until he allows his other hand’s finger to join in and fall into a rhythm, this time faster than before. A breeze blows from behind Kammu, and he concentrates on the wind to condense the air and throw it at the highest speed he can manage. Pipri sees nothing and only feels the breeze, until Kammu raises his hand and suddenly she has a diagonal cut just below the pouch holding her precious oval stone.

The cut stings, and Pipiri pouts. That wasn’t very nice! They were just supposed to be playing around; when Pipiri attacked she didn’t leave any mark that she can see, but now she’s bleeding and that’s so mean and nasty and Kammu needs to be taught a lesson. The rhythm of her hands is very fast, as if she’s rushing to get an attack. As before, her hands glow, and one grows to a more respectable length. The light spreads to the rest of her body, turning silver, and Kammu throws up his arms to block the light from burning his eyes.

This proves to be a mistake. Pipiri, already close enough to just hit him, rushes forward and slams her fist into his stomach with more speed and force than she could ever naturally produce. Kammu isn’t thrown back. He doesn’t even stagger. He just folds around the punch, letting out a whimper, and falls forward as Pipiri scrambles out of the way.

Everyone hears a loud whoop, and they look at the source—a teenage boy who has just walked out of the Water’s Edge restaurant, and is now watching the battle with interest. He sits down at a picnic table, facing the pokémon. (Of course, it might not be the pokémon battle he is interested in, but they give him the benefit of the doubt and return their attention to the battle.)

Although he’s a little unsettled that someone could enjoy his pain that much, Kammu doesn’t think the human is particularly important. He tentatively sits up and waggles his fingers until they glow. He feels something warm in his throat, and audibly and dramatically swallows. However, there’s nothing but air, and nothing really happens other than a little burp to release some of the air he just swallowed. Pipiri’s metronome gives her a little more luck: fangs and flames appear in her mouth, and she widens her jaws more than ever before. She chomps on Kammu’s tail as hard as she can. He quickly pulls his tail away, hissing at the sharp pain, and wishes he was allowed to punch her. Preferably as hard as she did to him. With fire. In the face.

Kammu’s fingers move from side to side, and for fun he imagines that reality is woven by strings of… something, and that he’s disturbing them with this movement. Breaking some, perhaps. And the power of breaking reality leaks into him, creating that glow in his fingers. Disconcertingly, his body suddenly moves without his permission, and he flies at a dizzying speed. His shoulder smashes into Pipiri’s face, and she squeals and goes rolling. She stops on her front, but manages to get up and give him a petulant glare.

Whatever her emotions, she can’t influence her metronome to give her something damaging. Instead of whatever she wanted to happen, a rather disgusting slime leaks from her skin and covers her. It’s mostly clear, though a little yellowish-green, looking rather like snot. Pipiri wants to complain about how gross it is, but is unwilling to open her mouth in case it leaks in.

Kammu also has an aversion to touching it. As he waggles his fingers, he hopes that it won’t be something that would require getting the slime on him. Unfortunately, chance doesn’t care much for his wishes either, and his legs move on their own, carrying him head-first right at Pipiri. He can slow himself down a little in an attempt to avoid it, but all it does is weaken the blow before he butts his head against her side.

An old-looking blue car, barely noticed by the participants of the battle, parks in front of the donut shop.

Pipiri waves her arms quickly and furiously until they glow, and impulsively jumps up to land on one foot. The ground shudders, mainly between her and some point behind Kammu. Kammu quickly leaps away from the moving ground and cracking concrete, and to his surprise the shaking is much less pronounced just a metre from the line. Pipiri now has a clear view of her actual victim: the boy that came out of the Water’s Edge.

The teenager doesn’t seem to recognise the danger until it’s too late. His attention is focused on Full Metal Cookies, and on holding onto the table for comfort and stability, but a particularly loud cracking sound brings his attention back to the main part of the attack. He struggles to push himself off the bench, falling when the shaking ground refuses to let him escape so easily, but desperately tries again as a narrow crack opens up between his feet. He stands, and makes as if to run. The ground lurches up to meet his falling leg, and not expecting this, he trips and falls. His arm is draped over the widening chasm, and the ground does its best to shake him off.

Powerless against forces much greater than himself, he tumbles into the fissure, screaming. But the screaming stops all too quickly, when his bones shatter against the ground.

“Oh my God!” A man and his daughter run out of the car. The patrons of the Water’s Edge restaurant also rush out, pushing each other to see what happened.. The fissure stops just short of the building, and a few almost fall in, but the fissure takes no more lives now that it’s no longer actively swallowing victims. More exclamations and swearing come from the small group gathered around the fissure, and they stare down into the huge crack. Someone vomits. Another immediately calls 911.

A police officer, who had expected today’s work to consist of stopping people from taking charity money from the fountain or giving out tickets, also runs onto the scene. He quickly takes control of the situation, calling for backup and attempting to herd the bystanders to somewhere safer. He glances down at the corpse several metres below, but he doesn’t seem to think of it as important, or at least, not as important as dealing with the living.

Kammu glances down at the crack he narrowly avoided, then up at Pipiri with new respect and a healthy dose of fear. He doesn’t let it stop him, though, and waggles his fingers until they glow. He coughs, throat and lungs suddenly stinging. With a mighty exhale, he breathes out a thick, black cloud of smoke that envelops both pokémon, nearly blinding them.

The lone police officer can’t control everyone. The man from the car runs past the cloud and grabs a fistful of Full Metal Cookies’s shirt. He glares into her eyes, as if searching for some hint of remorse. “What did you do!?”

She doesn’t have time to answer, but the subsequent events seem to imply the best answer is, “Nothing compared what’s coming next.”

Through the smoke, moon-panther can see the two small glowing things that must be Pipiri’s arms.

Again, the ground lurches and shakes, but this time it’s different. Stronger. The folded wooden signs and plastic chairs fall. Picnic benches are ripped from the ground. Windows shatter, and a few screams are heard from the inside of the café, shops, and gallery. A few people scramble to get outside, while others try and find safety inside the buildings. With a mighty crash, the clocks on the red tower fall to the ground, one smashing through the roof of a building below. The cobblestones are ripped from the concrete that holds them. The tower collapses in on itself with a loud crash.

Daddy!” Full Metal Cookie’s assaulter’s eyes widen, and he shoves Full Metal Cookies backward. Before Full Metal Cookies hits the ground, he’s already running toward the sound, but the thrashing ground won’t let him. He stumbles over the loosened stones, nearly tripping over his feet with every step, as the ground pulls away from or leaps toward his feet every time he takes a step. His arms flail almost comically, although his desperate calls aren’t nearly as amusing.

A thin line draws itself in front of Pipiri, extending beside Kammu, who doesn’t notice the threat this time. Kammu’s eyes are wide open for once, and he looks through the thick smoke at the chaos, heart skipping beats. He would be forgiven, then, for only noticing the real threat when the Earth tears open beside him with a roar. Water sprays up, but is immediately cut off and turns into steam. A huge cloud of superheated gas puffs out from the crack, taking the black smoke into the sky with it. Suddenly Kammu and Pipiri can see.

The man falls, knee scraped and bleeding, but he pushes himself up, disregarding any pain. Blood drips down his leg. Another blast of gases breaks through the ground beneath him and throws him into the air. The cracks in the ground branch out and widen, releasing yet more gas that does more than scald the skin it touches. The air shimmers. The noxious stench of sulphur and ash fills the air. Flames crawl up the dying, drying trees, releasing even more smoke. Some of the screaming, and the police officer’s futile attempts at yelling the crowd into control, dissolve into coughing fits. Eyes water and throats burn.

But not those belonging to the trainers under ASB protection. Full Metal Cookies, moon-panther, and Kusarigamaitachi find themselves floating in the air, each surrounded by an almost invisible bubble of energy.

Anyone else is out of luck.

And finally, a glowing orange liquid bursts from the ground, curling over and collapsing, over Kammu and the already-drying fountain. A scream rips from Kammu’s throat, too, escaping from the molten rock in a way that Kammu cannot. The thin layer of slime on his head bursts into flames, but quickly burns out. More smoke and liquid rock burst from the other cracks in the ground. Where there are no cracks, the products of the earth escape anyway, breaking through the concrete and sending cobblestones flying. The would-be potential audience, barely visible through the haze of smoke and heat, run as best they can to the ocean or the city, willing to trample over each other if necessary. It is necessary. But not easy. The concrete is burning and melting and there’s no way to run when their feet are cooking alive more quickly than the rest of their bodies.

Kammu has other concerns. Fire leaps from the lava and swirls around him, blocking everything behind a blinding orange curtain that burns him even from a distance. Pipiri isn’t untouched, either. The usually protective slime covering her is on fire, and although it doesn’t harm her as much as it could, she feels uncomfortable warmth that increases too quickly.

Screams pierce the air. Someone falls to her knees, sobbing. People die. And through it all, the trainers remain untouched, physically and perhaps emotionally. They just observe the chaos they caused, easily willing to cause more, careless of the collateral damage that might get in the way of seeing what happens next. The most either of the trainers can get is thirteen—no, eight, for the coins are melted into worthless pools of metal beneath the layer of lava—dollars, but if any of them is asked, it’s easily worth the cost.

With his eyes squeezed shut, and trying not to hyperventilate – especially on smoke – Kammu throws everything to chance and waggles his fingers. The pattern of the metronome quickly overtakes his panicked, jerky finger movements, and the soothing tick-tock establishes itself as his breathing pattern and heartbeat, too. It still hurts, but it’s still calming. His fingers glow white with power, and he feels something building in his hands…

He throws his hands forward, in Pipiri’s direction, and a cloud of glittering purple powder bursts forth. But it takes a split second for the powder to light up in a quick flash and disappear into the smoke.

Pipiri’s thoughts aren’t as… well, coherent… due to the whole being-on-fire thing, and as it turns out, it’s kind of hard and painful to breathe, too. She doesn’t even bother with the metronome, and instead throws herself on the ground and rolls enthusiastically. This is supposed to help, right? And indeed, the movements do seem to be smothering the flames. She stands, daring to open her eyes and peer down her round body. She’s covered in a darkened, terrible-smelling layer riddled with cracks. One of the many fissures throws up a spray of molten rock, and Pipiri watches with terror, but it sprays over a melted car instead of lighting her up again.

Kammu frowns at the wall of flames. He’s not quite as panicked any more, but, well, that wasn’t very useful, was it? It was nothing like a magma storm, and while he doesn’t necessarily want more lava and other craziness, he still wants to win. But it’s up to the gods of chance, the outcome of this battle, and he has little choice but to leave it up to them. He waggles his fingers once more, tangling them in the threads of the universe.

He jerks, suddenly. He must—no, wait—but he must get to his feet, standing under his own physical power instead of supporting himself with psychic energy, though they feel stronger than before. Strength fills his entire body, and he is filled with a reckless desire. He can sense Pipiri beyond the flames, and, well, wouldn’t this revenge be amazing? He kicks off against the ground.

Pipiri freezes when a brilliant white shape tears out of the swirling flames and smashes head-first into her front. She squeals and rolls backward with the force, pain exploding into her face. But, with some effort, she manages to roll onto her feet. And she’s not on fire, still, is she? No? Good.

Now it’s Pipiri’s turn to break reality, and she does with a determined expression and unusual vigour. The small, quick beats of her paws glow more dimly than usual, though, and when she stops, nothing seems to happen. She stares at her paws, bottom lip quivering, and despite the odd liquid covering her, her eyes shine as though with tears.

Despite everything, despite all the pain Pipiri’s already caused him and that she’s obviously in better shape than he is, Kammu can’t help but relax slightly and reach out. She looks so dejected and adorable, and the kinder parts of him want nothing more than to soothe her worries. But before he’s even finished, Pipiri darts forward and gives him a swat with that head-thing of hers that burns the shape of a heart into his chest. She hops out of reach, giggling.

Okay, Kammu’s head hurt more from his own reckless charge than from that. But still, what was that? He could have sworn—well, Pipiri had looked so cute, despite the fire. But that just goes to show, doesn’t it, that she can’t be trusted? Fury builds within him, and he waggles his fingers, willing reality to warp in ways beneficial to himself. His fingers glow, and his mind is filled with… an oddly familiar power?

With a wry smile, he wraps himself with a psychic power, and does the same with Pipiri. It’s not quite what he was going for, but he knows this. The psychic energy encloses something fundamental to them both, and then, so quickly even Kammu couldn’t sense it, switches them around.

Ah… so is this how Pipiri normally feels like? Even the hot air around him seems calmer than usual, Kammu muses. It must be nice. But… huh, he can feel some of Pipiri’s emotions more strongly than usual.

Pipiri herself looks around in panic. There’s something missing, she knows it, though she can’t see what. Her trainer, perhaps? No, Coloursfall is right there. But the world seems so much more chaotic and oppressive. She glances at her trainer, who, despite a few burns, looks perfectly calm, maybe even bored.

It must be her imagination, then. She summons up yet another metronome, willing to just see what happens.

Something hums at the back of her mind. She closes her eyes. Something pleasantly cool slithers through her skin, and suddenly she knows what she must do. This dance is a pretty little thing, but it looks more difficult than it is, and she knows all of the steps. With grace beyond what she might normally have, she dances and twirls on the spot. The humming grows louder until she realises they’re voices at the back of her head. The thought isn’t horrifying, though, as it might be to others. It’s comforting. She’s not alone, and these supporters from beyond the flames, whomever they might be, will help and protect her.

Coloursfall vs HighMoon | Round Four
1 vs 1 Single
DQ: 7 days
Banned Moves: All But Metronome
Damage Cap: None

Chances: Car parking - 20%/round, Person showing up - 25%/round

Pokémon start with 150% energy and cannot chill.

Actions

It ends something like this.

Kammu, as always, moves before Pipiri has even raised her paws, his fingers falling into the familiar tick-tock-tick-tock of the pattern of chaos that underlies all of reality. His fingers touch the thin, invisible threads that form everything, and with every tick-tock, the threads shift a little more, releasing energy as a white light around his fingers, until (tick-tock-tick-tock), finally, one breaks. Something shifts

Kammu stands up straight, an oddly distant expression on his face. But his eyes, fully open, are intense. It’s the green sclera that clues Pipiri into the fact that it’s not quite Kammu peering at her, but she’s more focused on the red of his irises. She can’t look away from them. She can’t observe his body language, confident and imposing and wrong for such a frail body, but she can complement it, as she does, by cowering.

Not that it does her any good. Kammu stares through her with piercing eyes, and when he lowers his head, just slightly, she can feel the pressure of his disappointment. He closes his eyes and lets out the slightest exhalation.

Gods, of course, have no need for grand gestures. It’s enough.

With the smoke still being spewed by the fissures in the earth, no one notices the brilliant points burning in the sky before a spear of pure light sears through Pipiri’s body, perhaps punishment for the chaos she’s wrought. But it’s not alone, and more pillars of light come down like rain, sending pain through Pipiri’s body and mind with every strike. Yet, of course, Kammu’s aim is imperfect, and the attack is too grand for a single pokémon to suffer the blow. And what of all those bystanders, who simply allowed something so dangerous to continue?

It may not look like there’s much left to be destroyed, but as one beam of white light proves when it shatters the remains of the fountain, the destruction could be so much more thorough. The flames consuming the shops along the street are snuffed out when more lances of energy destroy their food source, and even the proud skeleton of the clock tower crumbles to dust under a single beam’s might. Another pillar, slamming into the middle of the street uncomfortably close to HighMoon, leaves a deep pit that seems to go down for miles. Some beams offer relief to the barely-conscious, badly burned, suffocating victims in the streets or crushed under rubble, while others just take the lives of those who deign only to run away. Most, of course, simply leave deep scars where they penetrate the earth.

Certainly, it’s a much cleaner death than Pipiri would grant them.

Kammu’s body relaxes, and he falls into his normal sitting position. He prods the area with his mind, satisfied. So is this what it feels like to be a god? He can hardly begrudge Pipiri for her destruction, truly, if it felt like that.

Trembling, Pipiri barely dares to raise her own paws. After what she’s already done—she can’t even consider revenge, because she hasn’t the right. At least, not until she sees that Kammu has changed back to his previous self, if a bit smug. It doesn’t make her any less scared, but the thought of fighting is a little less like trying to oppose the universe itself. She hesitantly lets her paws fall into the pattern of the metronome, but as she feels the power build up, she closes her eyes. She’s not sure she wants to see.

The world twists

Pipiri and Kammu take a brief moment to glance at each other, trying to figure out what changed. Kammu doesn’t feel any different than usual, and, well, Pipiri checks herself to find that the allies humming at the edge of her soul are boosting her abilities as usual, protecting her body from harm and increasing her ability to cause pain, and of course the slime covering her is going to dampen mental attacks like those abra are so fond of, and she doesn’t feel sluggish or speedy or any different, really. But maybe that’s for the best.

Kammu’s already smiling when he goes for his next metronome. With every tick-tock, his excitement rises, and his heartbeat quickens just a little. And, indeed, he does feel strength filling his body, prompting him to rise to his feet, run, and leap into the air.

Pipiri gives him an almost comical look of horror during the split second he hangs above her, and then he falls atop her with all the force gravity can muster. Which, admittedly, isn’t very much, not with his light body. Kammu pushes himself off, annoyed.

Now, perhaps, Pipiri can truly relax. After something like that, surely there won’t be a repeat performance of half a minute earlier. She calls up her own metronome, and while there’s still a flutter of worry about what might happen, she can still do this. Red beams shoot out of her eyes, and she turns her body, swinging the beams across the entire arena. She can see everything, she realises. And while the emptiness where each of the thousand beams of light had struck are awe-inspiring, her destruction was far more widespread… perhaps not something she should take pride in (not so overtly, at least), but she can at least be a little satisfied, surely…?

Kammu doesn’t waste a second to press forward with yet another metronome. Surely he can still grasp the anomalies in reality that let him cause so much destruction, or at least he might obtain access to the sheer power of it to win this battle? He needs a victory so much more than Pipiri does. His mind, as usual, is outside his body, so all he has to do is ask the world around him for the power.

Something dark, burning cold like knives and hate, pierce through his head, and he gives Pipiri a nasty grin. He stands again, but not to move toward her, this time. There’s no need for that. Blackness builds around his outstretched paw, and tendrils of shadow crawl over Pipiri’s slimy skin.

It’s like dark fog rolling over everything, or ominous clouds racing through the sky. Pipiri whimpers. She can’t win this. She can’t do anything. She can barely move her limbs, she’s so weak, and she can’t win, so there’s no point in fighting. She doesn’t want to fight. It would take too much willpower, and besides, Kammu is, well, Kammu…

Kammu lies completely unconscious, as though unaware that the hot stone is burning through the fur on his back and head.

Pipiri stares. That…

What.

Two thin beams of red light envelop the two little mass murderers, and they turn the colour of blood before liquefying and vanishing into the safety of their poké balls. For a moment, the three humans remaining just give each other awkward glances, then trade equally-awkward coughs (though that might have something to do with the noxious smoke burning through their throats, given that Coloursfall gets trapped in a coughing fit for several seconds).

Then they hear the distant wailing of sirens, and with synchronised haste, do their best to vanish.

Battlefield:
- Wonder room is in effect (defence and special defence boosts are swapped)
- The battlefield is enveloped by smoke (Accuracy -1)
