• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Chapel Matryoshka

(Ooooh Safari Zone rebirth! Let's take Chinadoll shall we?)

A smallish girl holds the hand (paw?) of a little pink Snubbull as she stares at the doors of an old chapel. The little dog-like creature attempts to rush at the doors (which is probably why the girl is holding on to her companion) to get inside.

The girl laughs at her companion's eagerness to explore before letting her go and attempting to push the doors open. After a few minutes (due to her being of very little strength and taking along a very small companion), the doors swing open, revealing what she expected; an old-looking, slightly creepy chapel.

The two tentatively step into the open chapel, hoping that nothing too bad will happen.

Phantom

Your questioning pokémon physics when you just stepped through a mirror? Good,, it means you're coping. You kinda think, looking at the darumaka, that it might be a baby, or a toddler, or something. As you yank it out of your sock, it squeals wildly, but you've got a strategic hold on it and it can't quite grab you. The ball binks off of its nose-spot (ouchies) and bursts open, absorbing it. The ball shakes a little but rapidly clicks, signalling that you've caught the little devil.

You take the moment of peace to look around further. The sky above you, in the time you've spent here, has become more interesting; it's spangled with what look like supernovae, swirling out like bloody, cosmic paint. It's hard to tell, but it seems that far in the distance, on all sides, the scenery changes. For now, though, you're surrounded by white-and black stones, some of which are in flames.

Dar

Your golem seems rather put off by your words, and retreats into his carapace of rocks, only peeking his head out. You look around. There are these four glass panes that look interesting, some candles, etcetera. The pews look cozy, if unused.

Squirtle

The candles catch on fire. A rattata scurries past your foot.

Flora

It seems that the chapel, perhaps a bit saddened by your 'creepy' appraisal, is on its best behavior. Sunset light pours in through the stained glass, painting your snubbull and your clothes a variety of hues. There's a quartet of glass rectangles, taller than you, in the lowered, front portion of the chapel.

"Now that's more like it!" He plucks a Poke Ball from his belt and throws it at the Ratatta. "Crobat, watch the Poke Ball. I need to go outside to get some dirt". The boy ran, scooped up some dirt from the crossroad, and carefully smeared it over the markings. "They always do this in the movies". Then he turned around to see if the Ratatta was caught.

The boy looked at his rock pokemon. "Sorry, we just don't want to get our asses sued in case there's any use for this building." Elvis grumbled something that the trainer could not make out, though he figured that it was just general Pokemon speak.

The boy then directed his attention to the glass panes, of which the Golem had been looking at earlier. He focused mainly on the white square, which for whatever reason he found incredibly interesting. "Hey, Elvis, come look at this." The beast walks over to his dictator trainer, and looks at the white glass, obviously pleased to see his reflection.

"Of course I'm questioning Pokémon physics!" Phantom shouted out to no one in particular. "My Charmander is having identity issues, and you shoved a midget fang-y fire type down my sock!"

Phantom blushed. She had no idea why she said that. In fact, she had no idea what to do at all. With a sigh she picks up the Pokéball that now contained her 'prize' and minimized it, then promptly pocketed it.

She glanced at her 'charizard'. "Any ideas big guy?"

Squirtle

What are you smearing it on?

Dar

Your golem remains enraptured by his self-viewing, but he may not be as pleased if he were to take in the images on it. Winged shapes, swirling blobs that may be clouds... Not a rocky depiction by any means. Still, it's quite beautiful.

A rather small pachirisu is noticeable on the windowsill behind the glass rectangles.

Phantom

Your charizardmander lands, looking confused about your outburst. He looks about, trying to be helpful, but seems about as knowledgeable as you do. Then he gets a look of inspiration, turns around, and proffers his smoke-colored back to you. He's by no means the largest charizard you've seen, but he might be able to carry you into the sky?

If you want to fly on a charmander, of course.

(Ignore.)

The boy, completely oblivious to the electric squirrel, takes in the scenes in the glass. "Huh. I wonder who made this?" Elvis, however, looks away from his reflection long enough to see the Pachirisu.

The Golem takes a step towards it, completely forgetting about the glass. (He's never been the sharpest rock in the world.)

Phantom stared at her charizardmander. "You fly, I'll not fall off," she said, climbing onto his back, "deal?"

Once she was nicely seated she tried not to look down. He wasn't a skyscraper, but he was still pretty tall. "Cato, Fly."

Dar

Your golem's pounding advance isn't exactly subtle, and the pachirisu, ears aflicker, scampers a bit farther up the window. However, what surprises your rock-type is that his right foot seems to have gone into the mirror he had been looking at. Rather than scratching, breaking, or screeching, however, it seems to have welcomed his foot with open arms; it seems to have put up about as much resistance to his foot as would a beam of light. He yanks it back out as quickly as he can, a look of unsettled fear on his face.

The pachirisu sneezes rather adorably.

Phantom

Nodding his assent and attempting to control his enthusiasm, Cato thrashes his very vaguely translucent wings and begins to ascend. The ride is bumpy, as your charizardmander is still rather unpracticed at this, but you do manage to get rather high up. If you ever flown like this, you'll notice a conspicuous lack of a drop in the temperature.

Looking around, you can see that to the right of you, there's a vague lightening of the land and a change in the sky. To the direction in front of you, there's a definite change in the land's texture; canyons, perhaps, ones not made of the same coal as the floor below you. The sky is kinda different there, too.

Blastoise Fortooate][Phantom, you aren't lost. You once were lost, but now you're found! Also, did you used to be a blind wretch?]

[Blind wretch? Dem's fighting words. I have a charizardmander. BRING IT. ]

"GO THAT WAY!" Phantom screams over the sound of the wind. For emphasis she points. Cato must have gotten the idea as he went in the direct of changed sky in the distance.

What have I gotten myself into?

The trainer blinks confusedly. "Did your foot just..." Evlivis nodded. The trainer, just as curious as when he first came, stuck his head through the white pane. He quickly pulled it back and said, "It doesn't really seem like your kind of place." The boy looks at the umber one. How about this one?

Phantom

(I am afraid to guess which direction you mean, so. Clarify? :O)

Dar

In your brief moment of sticking your head into the white glass (how brave!), you chiefly register how the glass tickles whatever part of you is 'inside' of it, as if butterfree were gently waving their wings at you. You also register a huge, open blue sky as well as an unnatural, reflective ground. Also, tons of wind. You're judgement, in relation to your golem, is probably correct.

The dark, grey-brown glass swims with a vague shadow of what's in front of it. The khaki markings, much lighter in contrast, swirl and wrap in an extremely intricate, frozen dance.

Squirtle

As you extend your hand to put markings on the glass, it passes through entirely.

(Which glass?)

The boy, after observing the designs on the umber glass, sticks his head through.

Dar

The glass feels like falling sand on your neck. The other side smells like freshly-turned earth, and with good reason; the gently-rolling hills are principally composed of dark, moist earth that looks to have been furrowed. The sunset has been replaced by noon sun.

Phantom

Your charizardmander, after a moment of deliberation, beats his wings powerfully and swings forward through the dark night. As he strains the muscles in his back, you can see the little curled-up charmander inside wiggling his paws. After a score of minutes consisting principally of nail-biting flight and an accompanying too-warm breeze, you notice the ground shifting beneath you. After a certain point, the black and white stones disappear and are swiftly replaced by dark, red clay. The air thickens in an instant, changing from uncomfortable heat to a downright sweltering, humid boil. Cato, figuring this is his cue, begins to descend. You notice canyons rising on all sides of you and, more importantly, the sky above you has turned bone-white.

As Cato lands Phantom resists the urge to jump down and begin kissing the ground. The white sky was unsettling, but she figured that it wouldn't be as weird as a runt darumaka using her sock as a summer home.

"Heeeeelllooooooo!" she called, listening to her voice echo in the canyon.

The boy shrugs. "Sure, why not?" he says before jumping through. Elvis follows close behind.
