• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Drinking Age

Thing is, even if it's kind of a pain to get alcohol, you still have kids whose parents keep it in their homes, and they drink from that stash. Is there any way to alleviate this? Obviously it can't be making the parents monitoring them more; most of the people who do that are in high school, so by that point their parents expect them to take care of themselves and such.

Hell, my dad purchased alcohol for me for a year before I turned 21.

actual education that's not just fearmongering about how dangerous alcohol is.

seriously i feel like keeping it from being a Forbidden Thing'd do a lot more to keep people from abusing it than any large-scale attempt to enforce the drinking age. getting drunk is not super exciting. getting TOO drunk is definitely not the fun kind of exciting. 'this is alcohol; some types taste good, but a lot don't; if you drink too much, you'll regret it, both short term and long term; do not drink and drive' is probably going to be more effective than 'DO NOT DrINK ALCOHOL UNTIL YOU ArE 18/21'

I think I got blanket permission to grab a beer if I so desired at like 12 or something, haha. ... never DID, but a lot of alcohol tastes terrible to me, and I also have a low tolerance in general and no tolerance whatsoever on my current meds. But I did have permission, and would somewhat frequently have a glass of wine.

There are states that allow underage peoples to drink in a private home/place with parental consent/presence.

I had no idea that vodka and red wine did not a good combination make that night I drunkposted all over #tcod. I ended up throwing up and vowed NEVER DRINKING AGAIN because of how shitty it was.

my fav thing is that it's legal to drink alcohol here if you're 5

but 4s and under can just go right to bed

man I probably would have literally died.

While we're talking about habits/preferences: I mostly drink (craft) beer and whiskey. Rum sometimes. I really don't like anything else, though I imagine that is likely to change.

Since I drink whiskey like, 70% of the time I drink, I'm pretty scared of potential development of a habit or dependency. :( Bleh I've tried to stop drinking a couple of times but I like whiskey too much.
