Arena:
The capital of Beaconia, Mareepolis is a small city most well known for its large bronze Mareep statue in the town square. This battle takes place in the streets within an area 10 meters long, where a crude Pokeball has been drawn in the center of the arena.

For the most part, this is a fairly vanilla place. However, each round, there is a 15% chance that one of the following events will occur on a randomly selected action:

50%: The Beaconian anthem will play, thus causing everyone on the arena to stop battling and stand at attention as the Beaconian flag is paraded through.
15%: The Beaconian second-in-command Aviculor will run through the town, with the Pokemon trailing him badly poisoning all combatants.
25%: The Pyromaniac will run through the town, burning all combatants.
10%: A golden statue belonging to the Q.U.I.R. will have been captured and thrown into the arena. It will fall on a random combatant, causing 5% typeless damage. After this occurs, all battlers will gain an extra $6 after the battle is over.
Arena status: Rain Dance is active (4 more actions). There's a deep hole in the center of the ring, with some sand at the bottom. Wet sand is scattered all over the arena; the floor is almost entirely soaked.

-----

One brief discussion and one phone call to the ASB headquarters later, Kam was ready to replace the defeated second-in-command of his team. He swallowed, seeming to be in pain for making this decision... Then hurled a Pokéball, revealing a small creature of purple fur. Immediately then, a scent like blazing sulfur wafted through the air and into the nostrils of all present. RandomTyphoon sighed; first sandstorms, then pyromaniacs and explosions, then rain, now this.

With or without absurd smells, though, the commands were issued.

Shawn was to use Odor Sleuth... But he was in no mood to even get near that damned lump of stink, let alone sniff it. He moved to try a more direct course of action, but he tripped when he tried to start a sprint. This caused Stinky Joe to break into a hysterical laughter, then begin underestimating the opponent. At the Girafarig's already established anger, it's no wonder that the taunt was successful.

The severly confused Pokémon insisted on his rampaging attack, but he missed, and hit his head on the wall of one house. The referee glanced over; luckily, it was unoccupied, meaning no annoying neighbour talk would ensue and interrupt the battle. The Stunky took the opportunity to lazily swing his paw around with a previously summoned Bug-type aura; yet, the blow wasn't even strong enough to be compared to a slap on the wrist.

In a sudden display of well-trained reflexes, Shawn threw his hind legs back out of the blue, kicking the foe in such a way that he was cleared across the field and almost hit a wall. Landing that strike did the attacker's mood wonders; while he was still seeing red, he felt much better. It seemed as though he has irradiated some of his fury into the enemy, who ran back to close range and unleashed a counterstrike with a more motivated slash from his Bug-type energy embedded claws.

As the battlers stared at each other on the wait for commands, the rain thinned down to a pathetic, wimpy drizzle.

Additional notes:
- Shawn hit himself in confusion for the first two actions.
- Stinky Joe's first Fury Cutter did 0% damage -- the anti-STAB nulified the base power before the effectiveness modifier was applied.
- Chill failed due to Taunt. Struggle was used instead.
- Might as well metnion Kam is right; Odor Sleuth doesn't leave dark-types exposed to psychic-type attacks, and the conditionals would have Shawn use Psychic anyway. Nonetheless, it looks as though confusion made this point moot.
- Kam attacks first next round.

Keep Taunting it; don't want it to be chilling anytime soon. If it fails for whatever reason, parade or what have you, use it again until you successfully taunt it.

-----

The battle marched on. The end seemed to be closer by the minute, but it'd still be a long way until that point.

Shawn was less than willing to obey; his temper was really getting to him. Protect? Back down? Never! Instead, he launched himself into a headstrong rush, albeit less fierce than the other ones. Stinky Joe laughed briefly, then stepped aside and extended a paw, making his opponent trip. After a spetacular fall upon the wet ground, spetacular ridicule came along, whispered right into the ears of the downed Girafarig.

His anger exploding, he lifted himself back up. With a thin roar of sorts and a brief stand on the hind legs, he summoned the powers of nearby potted plants. With added drama from the rain stopping, his front legs struck the ground, unleashing a green wave across the field. Small holes on the walls nearby, smashed windows... The referee sighed; this wasn't really an attack that could pottentially kill someone, but who was going to pay for the propriety damage?

While propriety was damaged, though, the attack's actual target shrugged most of it off by blocking himself with his front paws. Vegetable power? Pfft. He was sure one mighty fart of his would wither them all away.

After adding a bit more to the insult pile, Kam's Pokémon let his right foreleg gain a pale green bright, thicked than the previous one; his confidence was rising with each hit he landed on the opponent, apparently. A somewhat mighty swing landed on the enemy's side. This one was actually quite a bit more felt than the others.

Shawn wouldn't let that pesy little fartbag get away without a good counterstrike. He paid absolutely no attention to the fact he was ordered to retreat and let his companions have his stat boosts. Instead, he leapt through the air with might, landing a well-aimed stomp right on the foe's backside. Unfortunately, his hind legs didn't quite go in with the equation; thus, he landed awkwardly, almost tripping again.

He was immediately counterattacked by one more slash inbued in Bug-type energy; right on the neck, too. But, somehow, he didn't really care. With a few deep breaths, he started to finally take some control over himself again... Even if not entirely.

-----

Shawn's stress seemed to never end. Right as the round began, there was his opponent, jeering and snarking again. With some sort of breath that seemed to stand between a sigh and a roar, the Girafarig leapt and landed with his backside facing the target. Then, he kicked him square on the jaw, following up with a less well-aimed strike from his other paw.

Further attempts to keep on firing blows from the hind legs, though, were cut off by a faint green sort of aura. In the time between the two first attacks and this third one, Stinky Joe managed to conjure a protective barrier, which he hid behind as he tented to a bleeding gum. He mentally swore at his foe as the pain stimulated him to form up a proper counterstrike.

Letting his shield fade away, the Stunky saw his enemy preparing to launch one more round of pounds with the hooves. Not this time, sucker, he thought, as he immediately shot through the air, a dark purple dash forming around and behind him. The sudden headbutt to the lower belly quickly interrupted offensive the plans RandomTyphoon's Pokémon had; just as he was feeling a little better, though.

Shawn still did get to stomp the hostile on the head two times; the attack was slightly tamer this time around, though, because of the tampering. He stepped back, panting heavily. His anger had him so focused, he hadn't even noticed how much his stamina was waning.

- On the first action, the first Double Kick scored a critical hit. On the second action, Protect successfully stopped the attack.

Uh, kay. It's fairly safe to say that you'll be able to kill it with few problems.

Sucker Punch if it tries to attack you, Fury Cutter if it tries to Chill, and Chill if it Protects.

Sucker Punch/Fury Cutter/Chill x3

Hmmm. I think this can be used to our advantage. Never mind the buzzcocks Fury Cutter, use Chill twice, then Baton Pass to Alias, if that's all right. You've done great, psychic. and don't screw it up tommorow or something

Chill~Chill~Baton Pass (to Alias)

(pssst since it says nothing about Battle style I'll assume I can do that without Shawn being counted as K.O., correct? Warn me if I can't.)

All battles are Set style by default, so, this one isn't Switch style, no.

However, Baton Pass' description in the A&A guide states that "in a 2vs2 battle if an absol passes to a pelipper and the pelipper faints, the absol must be sent out again with the same amount of HP/energy left as when it used baton pass, and it may at that point no longer baton pass.", so, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter anyway.

Wait, what happened to the Fury Cutter streak? Aren't they cumulative?

If not, then I've made a mistake. gah.

The user slashes the opponent with an appendage charged with bug-type energy. If this attack is successful many actions in a row, the user becomes more confident and bold in its strikes and this attack's base power increases.
So yeah.

I was actually supposed to cut the chain by the time you used a Taunt between the Fury Cutters, but I digress.

You're welcome to continue reffing it that way if you like, but for the record in the games the fury cutter hits do not have to be consecutive; only an actual fury cutter miss resets the BP. Reffing it that way would also be acceptable iirc (it's how I do it, anyway), and I believe that's where the confusion is.

Well, since it varies between refs, for this battle, I might as well let the hits only be reset in case of miss, for consistency's sake (since I did leave it be at one point).

I suppose I'll need to decide on which interpretation I'll use by the time Fury Cutter streaks come up again, though.

Shawn was getting sick of it all. Once more, he is probably going to be clawed and headbutted and provoked by that smelly punk he's facing. He'll have to put a lot of focus into not snapping and trying to break that purple bag of gases' neck. Sighing, he laid down on the soaked concrete.

Expectably, Stinky Joe took a sprint and started to hack and slash at his target's backside. Each one of his constant, almost unending cuts, the dark green aura surrounding his claws glew brighter and brighter.

Once the Girafarig felt rested enough, he suddenly jerked back up, clearing his foe away from his back, which was now covered with blood and wounds. Both of his heads closed their eyes as they shot strange beams of red light toward a point in the air. The red light formed a baton of sorts, which its creator threw upward as RandomTyphoon recalled him -- taking advantage of the referee being distracted by a coin that somehow wound up in the arena

A new Pokémon entered the arena. Blue, with a shell on the back and a conspicuous cyborg leg, crafted from lightweight metal.

Just as soon as Alias stepped in the arena -- getting his robotic limb wet, much to his dismay -- the Stunky launched a blitzkrieg, mercilessly greeting his new foe by lunging toward him with his shining nails.

Stepping on a wet ground, smelling a putrid odor and bearing a small cut... It was all too sudden for the Squirtle.

-----

The orders from his trainer made Alias realize what he was in: a battle. Against an opponent who seemed to craft an excuse to provoke him out of the fact he took that long to realize what had been going on. Upon realizing a verbal argument was useless, the Squirtle settled for doing as ordered. With a spinning jump, he retreated into his shell, his belly facing upwards. By doing this, he had himself acting as a drill, digging through the asphalt quickly. Being withdrawn, underground and moving at great speeds also enabled him to not listen to his foe's following insults about running away due to fright.

Little did he know, though, that his trajectory was being watched. A glance and some deduction allowed Stinky Joe to figure a likely spot the foe would pop out from. He stood nearby, already preparing to deal a low blow at the right time.

Less than a minute later, RandomTyphoon's Pokémon sprouted through the asphalt. He had outsmarted his enemy, altering the trajectory of the tunnel so that his attack would still land. His success was enough to send the target sailing upwards. However, said target still launched a counterstrike, using the momentum from the fall to propel his Sucker Punch, leaving a dash of dark purple light by the line he fell through, similar to a meteor. The victim of this blow suspected nothing until he was struck down.

The blue turtle was desperate for a proper countermeasure of his own, but he couldn't make heads or tails of his next command. Mega Click? What's that supposed to mean? By the time he settled for some strange interpretation of the command he heard, his smelly opponent was already prowling with an evil look on his face.

As soon as Alias even looked like he was going to attack, the skunk made a surprise leap for his belly. He even tried to deliver even a small punch as he lost his balance, but that only made the crash worse. He could only be glad he landed facing downards and not on his shell.
