• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Lord of the Fireflies vs. Coloursfall

3 vs. 3 singles
Style: Set
DQ: Five Days
Damage Cap: 30%

Finally, all Pokémon have access to the moves Snore and Sleep Talk.

Commands: Mega Punch ~ hold underwater ~ hold underwater

Arena: Professor Lab
Who's the said professor is not really important. It is a generic Professor Lab were starters are given away and where new trainers begin their journey to become the new Pokémon Champion, then register on Smogon and realize they suck and have their dreams shattered. Oh well. Said Professor (Actually let's just call him Prof. Said) left his town and lab for two trainers to battle, and he might regret it but anyways a bit of reconstruction work is a fart for the Almighty Prof. Said.

Anyways, the battle will take place outside the lab, because we want every move working, you know (There's also a stream for Surfing convenient isn't it). Since starter Pokémon will feel quite at home here, all attacks that match their type have their damage boosted by 2% after all calculations for 2% less energy. Besides that it's pretty much it.
Arena status: There are seeds all over the ground. A blackboard hanging around outside the laboratory was on fire and got mostly consumed, but that was put out. A new blackboard has been placed in its stead, and displays markings where it was slashed. There is a hole on the ground, and the rocks it was previously composed of are scattered around. The Stealth Rock has been scattered off, leaving only the pointed stones lying around with harmless edges face-up. One of the trees and the grass close to it were ablaze, but that was also quenched; it left everything badly charred, but still existant, atlhough the tree will snap easily.

-----

When one of the battlers is being mercilessly drowned, there is hardly time for breaks. Fortunately, both of the Pokémon out had enough dealings with underwater hearing to receive their commands properly.

Jacob tested out the specific arm motion he'd be trying to bring out at full power. Water has a way of softening impact and dampening motion. By the time he was ready to bring it out, however, it was too late -- he was pushed right off his victim's backside as a translucid shield materialized around him. Far too much water still remained inside the vacuum, but Kaitei didn't miss on the chance to shoot a smug glance as he completely foiled the Mega Punch.

As soon as the Protect fell, the Squirtle wasted no time grappling his foe again. The Oshawott didn't miss on the window of time he could have used to escape, either, but his motor senses were still all over the place; he was taken back to the bottom of the stream, face slam included.

That moment of intense motion was enough to trigger a couple more cramps, rendering the otther Pokémon completely helpless for the remainder of the round. He was already starting to feel quite anxious -- he would flailing if he could move. His assailant was not doing terribly much better, however; his lacking stamina betrayed the continuous effort that the drowning required.

Same plan. Aqua Jet Upwards, Frustration if he tries to hold you down (which shouldn't be happening in the first place, look at his arms). If you succeed at escaping your watery prison, Taunt him.

-----

In spite of the critical situation, neither trainer showed any sign of backing down. Commands were issued dauntlessly.

After a bit of a struggle, Kaitei managed to put a bit of distance between his assailant and himself. It didn't stop him from being grappled, but it was just the window he needed to reach that goal. In a surprising display of agility and elegance for his state, he managed to break free with a burst of speed, propelled by a jet of water spat.

Much to Jacob's frustration, the geysering action delivered the Oshawott from the clutches and straight into fresh air. At the very least, though, there was amusement in seeing that he had not quite yet managed to regain his motor functions completely, as he couldn't stop himself from landing on his head.

For a few minutes, he got to hug the grass and breathe astonishingly deep, before his exhausted foe came any close to catching up. By the time the Squirtle did, the end of round was actually drawing near. There was just enough time for him to be shocked on his tracks as his opponent delivered a merciless expletive on how cowardly those last few moves were.

Suddenly a lot less aware of his fatigue, the turtle Pokémon resolved to absolutely wreck his enemy in a way he wouldn't get to complain about -- be it due to the absence of underhandedness, be it due to the removal of vocal chords.

WELL THERE IS LIKE NO WAY I'M WINNING THIS

BUT DON'T GIVE UP!!

SURF THE SHIT OUT OF HIM.

Surf x 3

(hopefully my math is right about this wah)

Actually, since this match started being reffed before the new formula was introduced, I'm still using the old one, for consistency's sake. Coincidentally, though (and do note that I twist the formulae a bit for several attacks), Surf has the same cost and (assuming no boosted/reduced stats) damage in both.

Alright. We can do nothing but hope for the best.

Rest ~ Protect ~ Protect

2015 Zhorken edit: 2 exp to Shirin, Kazan, Fu, and Jacob; 1 to Kaitei and Kin; $12 to each battler; $7 to MF; Fu gets to evolve.
