[OOC/ Sign-ups] Grimoire of Dragons

Sylph

Take me to Wonderland

"Many years ago, a horrible clan called Khamja threatened to take over Ivalice. Its leader, Illua, tried to harness the powers of a grimoire to open up a rift to let a demon through. Thankfully, a boy named Luso, from a strange place called "Earth", and his friends managed to stop Illua and seal the rift before any damage could be done.

With his mission complete, Luso returned to "Earth", and all of Ivalice returned to their peaceful lives."

Now, 100 years later after the fact, another Grimoire has appeared and may in fact harness the power to either aid the world or destroy it. This very book is called “Grimoire of Dragons” and holds the very secrets of the world’s dragons and of one very special dragon called “The World Serpent”. The text is in a language long dead, only spoken by the dragon’s themselves and a few old members of the old world before Khamja.

And it is now in the hands of one Nu Mou girl.

But our tale doesn’t end there, for the Clan Khamja has returned to reign terror on the world, searching for the new Grimoire to harness it’s powers and bring about the world’s total domination as was their plans in the past. They are searching for the one Nu Mou and they will do what they can to find her. No one is sure how Khamja returned, nor the power that control them from behind the scenes like puppets in the Theatre.

But that is up to you to find out, now isn’t it?

Welcome to Clan Virtue. You’re help is appreciated and I wish to express that as we start out on our adventure. We are to protect the girl here and find the answers to this book before all hell breaks loose and we all end up Dragon food. I’m the Clan leader and you will keep that in mind as we set out on this. I don’t want any heroes thinking they can get past me to further their own plans now. By the way, the name is Ming and I’m a Viera.

My Sign-up

Name: Ming Ryuu
Gender: Female
Race: Viera (MonsterBlood)
Job: Sniper/Summoner/Assassin

Appearance: Her fur is light grey, unusual for her kind to have so, and she she stands a fairly tall height. She wears a bow and quiver over her chest, a sheathed rapier on her hip, a head band with a odd horn draped along her neck, and a deadly dagger hidden in her boot . She wears a silver ear cuff on her left cover, covering a old scar given to her in a old battle back in her days as a Assassin. Her eyes are Purple and her hair is jet black. She wears simple clothing over a rubber suit and thick tan boots with a high heel for her feet.

Picture here

Home-area: She can't quite remember where she was first born.

Personality: She is very odd when first meeting her because she will come off as multiple things to many people. Some may see her as a loon, some as a serious leader that wouldn't spare a look away from her task, and some may see her a kind person. She is all of these things at points in time, but the more pressing part of her personality is that she refuses to let her clan members do anything stupid in battle without a proper thrashing afterwards to "correct" them. She is bold, wise, and fairly strong willed.

Bio (Optional): Ming has travelled with this clan since one of her friends from the old days became a judge after years of training, joining up with a few other friends along the way to make a nice little clan of conciderable strength and rank. She trained through her small clan as a skilled Summoner, aiding her allies in the feild with spells for both attack and defense.

When she learned the skills of a Sniper and Assasin, only a handful of people know that. But that will be something revealed later on in the game.

This one again?
Hope it doesn't die this time :c I'll go with Lodrick again, idk about Abelat he kind of sucked.

Name: Lodrick
Gender: Male
Race: Bangaa Faas
Job: Cannoneer/Dragoon

Appearance: (Portrait) (maskless/shirtless sketch) Take one look at Lodrick and you will know exactly who he is and what he does. He is decked head to toe in the outfit of the Cannoneer; the protective eyewear, the copious amounts of ammo, the miniature cannon strapped to his back. He wears light armor of an olive color, complete with a leather vest outfitted with an ammunition sash. Lodrick has a blunt, rounded snout, and scales of deep bronze, typical of the Faas branch. His face is adorned with traditional Bangaa tribal tattoos, which are symmetrical, beginning as elliptical shapes circling his eyes and trailing halfway down the bridge of his snout.

Home-area: Graszton

Personality: For a Bangaa, Lodrick is generally amiable and agreeable, and this gains him work, which in turn gains him money; but it also gains him scorn from his peers, who think he's a pansy or pushover. He doesn't work well with other Bangaa, usually, because he is quick to let them know who the real pushovers are. He is capable of great dedication towards a subject, and great concentration towards a goal - or target. However, by focusing on the minute, he loses sight of the big picture often. As such, he is probably not capable of being a leader, but he can perform well in a unit, as a gear in a bigger machine. And that's what Lodrick loves to do. He's a mercenary at heart. He has never considered himself "good" or "bad", but he tends to get "bad" jobs simply because he's a Bangaa and that's what people look for to do "dirty work".

Bio (Optional): Lodrick's most defining attribute is his passion for cannons. You will not see him without at least a basic hand cannon (not sane, anyway), though he favors the Dromaeo or the Omnis models. He even decorates his home with cannons; a ceremonial Diklum with embossed silver hangs above his mantel where one might put the trophy head of a game animal.

His passion for artillery was fueled early in his life. Lodrick was born and raised in the tough port of Graszton, where weapons as well as goods often came in and out. He took great interest in these items who endowed their owners with strength, but his favorite was not the sword, nor even the polearm, but the hand cannon, because it was literally packed with energy and power inside its barrel. The hand cannon was also an enigma, and as he grew older he worked in every kind of establishment he could find that entailed the art of cannonade, so that he might learn it inside and out.

However, that hasn't left Lodrick with knowledge of much else.

Name: Aidan
Gender: Male
Race: Hume
Job: White mage, Black mage, Blue mage, Illusionist

Appearance: Aidan is tall and rather bony, in part because his body isn't padded with much muscle or fat, and in part because that's how his parents are, too. His elbows could probably double as swords in another life, and though he lacks much physical strength, they're hard enough to hurt. His face, too, is angular, with a thin nose and small teeth. His hair is curly and black, his body pale, and his eyes grey.

Though hardly emaciated, he just amplifies the effect with the standard white mage robes he wears. The black mage hat, meanwhile, is probably just there to cast his eyes in an ominous shadow on occasion.

Home-area: Targ Wood

Personality:
Aidan walks tall and proud, and perhaps he has the right, after growing out of his awkward, clumsy phase and into a sort of grace. It's not the grace of a fighter or a dancer, but rather the grace of one who has practised walking for hours every day with the aid of a mirror.

... and that probably tells you all you need to know.

Aidan is a man very much concerned with his image - though less what he projects to the world and more of how he sees himself. Somehow, this is supposed to be deeper and more profound than those fools who would pretend to be someone they're not just to gain approval. Perhaps it is, but Aidan's requirements are nearly as shallow. Aidan's aspirations are all about how he walks, how he talks, how he thinks, and what he can do, while the tellers of children's stories would say he ought to work on his character.

But what is character compared to knowledge? To power? Of course, in his mind, those are very much the same thing. You are what you think, and magic is knowledge is an extension of your thoughts, ergo, he must become a mage. Swinging a sword, shooting an arrow, well, a child can be taught that, but the mastery of magic is far greater, and its effects far more varied. Even the brutish fighters recognise this, on a subconscious level: they utilise their inherent magic in small ways, to enhance them, but they don't realise how much they could truly be improved if they'd just stop thinking about their bodies and work with their magic.

Of course, it's too late for most; their magic potential has atrophied, and their minds have become too dull to make up for it. Aidan never made that mistake, and he's rightfully proud.

Bio: What looks impressive on paper - four mage classes, two of them even mastered, at least in Aidan's eyes - really isn't, and not just because he's barely started on learning illusion magic. Because it doesn't mention just how unspectacular Aidan really is; all his life, he's never been special, has never been called to be a hero. The closest thing to special that happened was when all the teenagers gathered around a blue mage that happened to stop by, and they got to practise with a sword and "learn to Learn", as the blue mage would say, chuckling every time. Half the boys were there because the blue mage was quite pretty; Aidan just wanted to be someone special. Well, he was, in a way; though he successfully "learned to Learn", he was also the only one to nearly hack off his own leg with the rental Light Sabers.

Oops.

After that incident, Aidan decided he really didn't like swords. No, he was much more fascinated by the white magic that had been used to bring his leg back to normal, which he had never seen before. (Okay, so he was unconscious when he wasn't making what would later be described as an awful keening noise while clutching his leg, but he got a clear picture of the before and after stages, and that was good enough for him.) Besides, after that, everyone was learning to use a sword, so physical combat was just so common. What was really awesome and special? Magic. Aidan wanted to become a master mage, learning all of the spells he could, studying theory, and wielding the elements. He did it all at home, at least initially, and he did various odd jobs to earn the money for the rods that would bestow power unto him. He learned to heal and harm with nought but a word, and found he loved it.

Since he was still a blue mage, when it came right down to it, and since that was still a mage class he thought he ought to master, Aidan started joining parties around the time when most of the other boys his age had given up their childish dreams of becoming great warriors. The whole point was to get hit by the right monster's spell, which was fine, surely; he'd cast Reraise on himself, then go out and heckle the right monsters with Fire and Thunder and Blizzard. This didn't work out too well, since he tended to become seriously injured if a monster so much as looked at him. He gained all of that magic from spells where the monster didn't have to. And, after one particularly painful incident involving a Bomb, he decided he'd had enough. He went home, back to the books he loved so much, and registered as an illusionist.

But... he'd already started the whole blue mage thing, even doing it seriously for some time. After that, what was he to do, give up? He wasn't like those sword-wielding brutes of a decade past; he was intelligent, useful, determined, like any true hero. And besides, didn't heroes go on adventures? He had the power of Firaga and Thundaga and Blizzaga on his side, and besides that, every party needed all the healers it could get. It was his duty anyway, he reasoned, to save lives that would otherwise be at risk, and besides that, surely there'd be a Beastmaster willing to offer services.

So he went to the local tavern to peruse the recruit posters, found what he was looking for, and signed up. The poster claimed the clan offered money, items, and training, but, if Aidan was to be wholly honest with himself, he might admit that the tipping point was reached with a single word: dangerous.

Also it was the first poster he saw.

Because I asked if she wanted to use the same sign-up.

Name: Thalia Nejem
Gender: Female
Race: Nu Mou
Job: Scholar / Illusionist
Home-area: Moorabella

Appearance: (Image) Thalia is a small female Nu Mou, her body a little less chubby than most other Nu Mou, and standing at just over four and a half feet. Her fur is a darker brown than normal, and her hair is such a dark brown it looks black in some light. Her eyes are a deep red. Her tail is long and thick like normal of her kind, and covered in long, shaggy orange fur.

The clothes she wears are, like most Nu Mou, long and baggy robes of fine quality, adorned with many trinkets and embroidery. Her over robe is dark blue with a lighter blue accents, and the edges of the sleeves and hem are covered with metal rings. A band of gold is attached to the back, and bears a zig-zag pattern. The under robe is a very pale grey colour and made of a very soft cotton. Her hands are wrapped in bandages up to the last knuckle, instead of gloves. She has two golden earrings in each ear, which aren't weighted like most other Nu Mou would wear; they are bands instead. She wears Feather Boots, which allow her to walk over water. She also carries with her a large leather pack, which is stuffed full of books, pens, and a few trail rations.

Personality: Thalia is a quiet and rather shy creature, soft spoken and rather easygoing. She prefers to stay back in a clan battle and cast her magics from the rear lines that get close to harm, and is easy to intimidate. She is a scared of Seeq and especially Bangaa, at least until she gets used to them, shrinking away or hiding when too close to one. She is easy to please, and a rather happy girl once she is out of her shell, delighting in intelligent conversation and learning new things. She loves to read, and can usually be found with two or three books in her bag and another in her hands.

When nervous, she will play with her ears or earrings, and when scared will usually try to hide. She likes to stay close to people she trusts when traveling and gets quiet when alone.

Bio: Thalia was born of a most unusual union; her mother was a Nu Mou and her father a Bangaa. Her mother died when Thalia was very young, and Thalia was left with her rather cruel father. The man knew of the power of the Grimoire of Dragons that her mother had left the small girl, so he kept her in the house, away from others while he tried to figure out how to open the magical tome. When she was old enough, she was sent to school with the other children of the small village near Moorabella, which was made up of mostly Bangaa and Seeq. She was teased by her classmates since she was utterly pathetic at fistfights, and withdrew into her books, left by her mother, and always wondered at the contents of the mouldy old tome with the lock that she remembered being told to guard with her life.

Eventually, shortly after she turned fifteen, she ran away from home, heading to the magical city of Moorabella. She was accosted by a clan of thugs on the way, who tormented her for a while, while she cowered behind her bag. She was found by Clan Virtue, however, who fought off the other clan and took her into their ranks, training her as a Scholar and Illusionist. Her magic skills were well-developed, both by training and bloodline, making her a potent caster and an asset to the clan.

Then she showed them the Grimoire in her possession. The powerful tome gave off waves of magical energy, and the clan immediately took it to the archmage Lezaford, who told them the legend of the Grimoire of Dragons...

The Grimoire was crafted by the Nu Mou attendants of Jörmungandr, the World Serpent, to hold in the monster's powers and sink it into the sea, where it spawned the dragons of the world, who's power filled the pages of the book. The Nu Mou then created a magical lock that could only be opened by another of their bloodline. Thalia Nejem is the last of the line, and as such holds the key to the powers of Jörmungandr, and must stop them from falling into the wrong hands...

mmm, plot importance.

...Also, she's kinda lazy as well.

Sorry I'm so late getting my form up!

Name: Anya
Gender: Female
Race: Moogle
Job: Juggler/Chocobo Knight

Apperance: She wears the full outfit of a Chocobo Knight. Her ears are rabbit-like in apperance and her pom-pom, when she's not wearing her hat, falls into the front of her face. She prefers it in front of her face, so that no one can touch it. On her side is a pouch that carries 3 daggers that she juggles. And on her other side is an empty sword case, as she has yet to find the sword that fits into it.

Home-area: Goug

Personality: She is extremely hyper-active and loves being a trickster. Though, she is very noble and loyal to those she can trust. Since she always so hyper-active, she may become tired out sooner if she gets into a fight. She also loves to provoke people, and get on their nerves. She does prefer to walk, but floats when she doesn't feel like walking. (she's lazy like me :P)

Bio(optional): Meh, I'm not going to do this. I'm so lazy :P

Ahaha I remember this one! I was actually starting to like it when it died, too. Anyways, because I actually like my characters from before, I'll just fix their profiles up a bit.

Name: Ottoran
Gender: Male
Race: Moogle
Job: Thief / Black Mage / Time Mage

Appearance: Ottoran looks the same as most moogles, except with a few minor differences. The tip of his right ear is missing because of a run in with a wolf that Ottoran had recently. His fur is brown, which is unusual for moogles. His wings are much larger than the average moogle, being about twice the ordinary size. Because of this, it is easier for him to fly up into the air, except he can only do this for very short periods of time.

He wears a dark green and purple striped bandana around his head, and it occasionally blocks his eyes. He wears a purple coat that is rather big for him, and it reaches down to his feet. Underneath the coat is a plain white shirt, however, due to many fights and the tests of time, the shirt is barely recognizable as white anymore, and is moreso an orange cream color. He wears soft black boots.

Home-area:
Camoa

Personality: Ottoran has an incredibly care-free personality. He is an incredibly optimistic person, but is also rather rash. He is somewhat socially awkward and often says things that completely screw up conversations. Due to his optimism and happiness, he is incredibly naive and gullible. He is of average intelligence, even though he can come off as being incredibly stupid. He has a very limited attention span, which sometimes causes him to lose track of thought in the middle of a conversation. Another effect of his limited attention span is his job range. Although he sticks to using his Black Magic, Time Magic, and thievery abilities, he has at many times attempted to try other jobs, often ending in complete failure.

Bio (Optional): Ottoran was born in Camoa to, of course, two Moogle parents, and a slightly older brother named Jydn. When he was young, only being the equivalent of 10 human years old, he and his brother got lost from their parents during an excursion out to Targ Woods. Despite their best efforts, Ottoran and Jydn failed to find their parents, and were lost in the woods. After a few weeks of being forced to fend for themselves, they were found by a Gria, who they mistook for a moogle with oversized wings. The Gria, named Alisha, took them in to her house in Targ Wood for a few days, before going with them out to bring them back to Camoa. Unfortunately, on their way back to Camoa, Ottoran and Jydn were kidnapped by a mysterious clan.

The reason for the kidnapping was unknown to them at the time. Ottoran and Jydn were treated nicely by these strange men, however this nice behavior confused them after all they had been told about kidnappers. When Ottoran was the equivalent of 12 human years old, he and his brother were brought out to fight by this mysterious clan. The two had never fought against other sentient beings before, and they were told that these people they were fighting against were bad men, and they got a thrill out of fighting them. Soon, they were brought into more and more fights, and became less and less suspicious of the clan and Ottoran and Jydn grew to love fighting.

However, when Ottoran was the equivalent of 15 human years old, the clan had to fight a group of people that had a surprising member in it - Alisha, the Gria that saved them. Ottoran, suspicious of what was going on, was pulled aside by Alisha, who told Ottoran a shocking truth. His parents had been targeted by various evil clans due to a large sum of money that they had. The clan that had kidnapped Ottoran and Jydn held them for ransom, so that they would hand over money to get their children back. The parents of course, did not send the money, but only sent a few clans to get them back, but eventually they had stopped sending clans. Shocked by this piece of information, Ottoran told Jydn about this later. After approaching the head clansman about this, he admitted that it was the reason for why they were kidnapped. Ottoran and Jydn were deeply affected by this, realizing that their parents chose not to get their children back. Jydn began to grow darker and darker in his personality after this, and became more and more ruthless in battle. Ottoran, unable to stand being around his kidnappers, left the clan to search through the land on his own.

On his own, he began to bottle up his emotions about the entire ordeal, and began to take on a care-free personality instead. He became a thief throughout the woods, taking what he wanted, and helping whoever he wanted to help. He was his own man.

When Ottoran was the equivalent of 18 human years old, he received word that everyone in his old clan had been murdered, and that his brother was missing, Ottoran grew deep with worry, and set off to find his brother.

Name: Ryu
Gender: Female
Race: Gria
Job: Hunter / Raptor / Ravager / Blue Mage

Appearance: Ryu wears a dark purple coat that covers most of her body. Unlike most Gria, she wears large, brown boots. Under her coat, she has a white shirt on, and black pants. She wears a red scarf covering most of her face, and a large hat on top of that, which covers her horns. Her wings are covered by her coat.

Home-area: Zedlei Forest

Personality: Ryu is a very quiet and reserved person. She doesn't speak often, or to many people. The only person that she speaks to the most is Ottoran, however she still does not speak all that much. In battle, she is ruthless and fast, as is evident by her main job classes. No one knows that she is a Gria, because she hides her horns and wings so well. She is considered to simply be a female Hume by most people. The reason for why she hides this is unknown.

Bio (Optional): The only thing known to Ottoran about Ryu is that she has a human father and a Gria mother. This is why she is able to use Blue Magic. Aside from this piece of information, not much is known about Ryu. She and Ottoran met when Ottoran was traveling through Zedlei Forest. Ryu was having a difficult time against some enemies, and Ottoran came to her aid. Since then, the two traveled together, as at the time they both had no specific place that they needed to go. Over time, a bond developed between them that was a cross between a close friendship and allies in combat. Even though this bond increased over time, Ryu remained distant from Ottoran. However, when Ottoran became concerned about his brother and clan, Ryu was willing to travel with him to find out what had happened.

Name: Vri
Gender: Female
Race: Gria
Job: Ravager / Raptor

Appearance: Like a few other gria scattered around Ivalice, Vri dresses to pretend that she's a somewhat exotic hume rather than a gria. Her hair is much redder than most gria, and her eyes are almost brown, which helps her pass without using expensive dyes. She's built like a fairly thin human and frail human woman, as most gria are, which just makes it so much weirder when she picks up a sword half her height and wields it with one hand.

She doesn't take her human disguise particularly seriously, though. Anyone but a hume could probably smell her true race with some effort, even if she hangs around enough humes to carry their scent around. Instead, she dresses more like a soldier: a tunic, a basic breastplate, large shorts, shoes, and long leggings, along with a large cape. This cape is a bit larger than standard and quite important; it covers her wings and tail, while still allowing her to quickly shift so she can fly, barely hindered, if she must. She wears a helm with holes for her horns, which makes it look like the horns are part of the design while still being snug enough for a melee fighter.

She typically carries a greatsword and a shield into battle, although she keeps knives on her belt since greatswords are inconvenient to carry around. Instead, she places a greatsword in every fixed location or vehicle she expects to be in for a significant amount of time, so she can grab one at will. Sure, enemies might arm themselves, too, but she's arrogant enough to not think it matters.

Home-area: Fluorgis

Personality: Vri has a very casual approach to killing and dismembering others, which includes not being bothered by or addicted to it. It's something that happens in combat, less than secondary to everything else important to her (doing the job, surviving the battle, getting cake back from someone who stole it), and none of the clan members can die in combat anyway. Not when the judge is around. So she hasn't had many deaths actually affecting her.

This is probably why she isn't insane, since her life has been all about combat. All about the sword.

She has basic hunter skills, of course, and can comfortably use a knife and bow, just like every gria fighter in Jylland, but she really prefers cold steel. Oh, sure, some people might say oh, what a shame, a flying unit could be amazing with archery, but seriously, shooting while flying is the most non-ideal situation ever. That stuff's for experts or mass volley attacks, and she's interested in neither. So instead of turning enemies into pincushions, Vri fights with fast and brutal attacks. She'll tear open abdomens and hack off limbs like they're wet paper, then cast a cyclone that picks up body parts and smacks them into enemies. Because it's funnier that way. (It doesn't actually hurt more.)

She loves stories, but she's not the best at reading (she's getting better, with practice), so she prefers to listen as Thalia reads to her. When she's not training or sparring, she might also be found struggling through a simpler book, or if nothing else, just looking at the pictures. Though she greatly prefers stories, she'll take nonfiction, too, even if it's just someone reading out of a spellbook.

There has been some changes to the Game. Thalia won't be played by BRCB, rather she will be played by me briefly later in the game. Don't expect BRCB to be posting, so you don't have to wait for her post to feel right playing, alright guys?

Now, I know how I'm going to rework this so that we won't need Thalia for the entire game. Trust me on this one, okay? It will be worth it...I hope.

...so...um...play away guys!
