• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Should any religious body be the sole moral authority?

I seriously don't give a fuck whether they believe in a god as long as they don't believe in stupid shit like creationism or taking the Bible literally and applying it nowadays.

And no there are many theists in Europe.

(We've been here before, haven't we, Gollum?)

Well, I'm sure there are plenty of people out there whose religious belief keeps them going and makes them happy. As long as these people don't cause anyone any harm (at least not as a result of their religion), believing in God is a good thing, however "incorrect" it may be.

As far as I'm concerned, everything that promotes well-being and causes no harm is more or less good.

This is exactly what I meant. If it doesn't harm anyone else, I don't think anyone really cares what religion someone believes in. But the thing is that some of these beliefs DO cause harm, and maybe if these people learned that tossing that three-year-old into a volcano wouldn't make it rain, they would stop...well, tossing three-year-olds into volcanoes.

yes, we know, but how are we going to teach them?
they've known it to be right for all of their lives; it's not going to be easy.

True. Meh, what I said was mostly hypothetical anyways...

What I meant was that it's really hard to just automatically respect all differing ways of life, especially when it involves this kind of thing.
