feebas [Chase] Feebas (M) Swift Swim
Item: Prism Scale
Signature attribute: The Ugly Duckling

Chase is not your ordinary Feebas. It is a known fact that both Feebas and Magikarp can be seen in freshwater. Chase was born among a group of Magikarp and Gyarados in a particularly large lake. One might ask how this is possible. Most clearly seen in the games, Feebas are notorious for often moving around. This was the case with Chase. Chase's mom was pregnant and had to lay her egg somewhere. Although she didn't want to leave her egg alone, she was forced to abandon it. If she didn't, she would be left behind, never to see her tribe Feebas and Milotic ever again. Chase, you could say, was lucky. A newly hatched pokemon wouldn't be able to fend off for itself against natural predators. Chase was lucky to have hatched in a place where there were many Magikarp and Gyarados. One of the Magikarp, due to Chase being similarly feeble, pathetic, and floppy, decided to adopt Chase. All the other Magikarp didn't mind having Chase around because they felt better whenever Chase was around. Seeing a particularly ugly fish, even uglier than them, the Magikarp were fairly pleased. The Magikarp, even those born around the same time as Chase, felt that they were better than him and went on to bully him. They were far superior after all. By bullying, I mean both physical and verbal bullying. Apart from the insults, the Magikarp and Gyarados have taken to randomly bashing Chase for no reason at all. The Gyarados are very cruel due to them often being in a rage. They frequently toss Chase around with their tales. Chase didn't let the bullying get to him, however. He took on an, "I'll show you all. I'll show you all how much better I am than all of you," attitude. Deciding to become better than his fellow fish, he trained hard, splashing and flopping to the best of his abilities. When he finally grows up, he wants to be like the ugly duckling who turned out to be beautiful than the other ducks.

Effects: Due to wanting to impress the other Magikarp and wanting to show them that he is as good or even better than them, Chase tries very hard. Due to this, he uses more energy than the average pokemon. For most moves he performs, he will expend an additional 3% energy. Moves recquiring Chase to take a break, such as rest and chill, are not affected by the additional energy usually expended. Although Chase expends more energy than other pokemon, this doesn't go without and benefits. Wanting to fit in, Chase has always imitated the other Magikarp and Gyarados. He has gained the ability to splash very high. By practicing almost all of the time, he has almost perfected his splash, to the point of him being able to jump to a high enough altitude for his final velocity upon reaching the ground to be poweful enough for him to be able to slam the ground with high impact. Also, by watching Magikarp flop around and by watching Gyarados bounce, Chase has learned to splash upwards the moment he reaches the ground from a previous splash. This translates to him being able to use the moves body slam and bounce in battle.

Due to the other Magikarp and Gyarados often bashing Chase, Chase's body has adapted and hardened to provide at least some defense against the abuse. He has developed an extra layer of scales. Chase gets a level of increase to his defense because of this. Due to the extra layer of scales however, Chase is slowed and his speed is reduced by one level. The changes in defense and speed are permanent and unaffected by moves such as haze.

ralts [Crystal] Ralts (F) Trace
Item: Lucky Egg
Signature attribute: Dr. Lucafont's Mental Enhancement Chip

Somewhere in the underground society of the local ASB lies Dr. Lucafont's clinic, where all sorts of shady operations are done. Whether for scientific purposes or for plain sadistic humor, most anything you can think of, through the use of illegal procedures, or contraband substances, or both, can be done here. Of course, these operations are all hush hush - no questions asked. While operations are mostly a success, sometimes, there are, for lack of a better word, undesired side effects. There have been rumors of pokemon which have been modified beyond recognition which have been secretly locked up and pokemon who've become mentally ill because of the practices at this clinic, but that's beside the point.

Always looking for pokemon to test new procedures on, Dr. Lucafont, when not performing an operation, wanders around the streets of Asgard, ready to kidnap any unprotected pokemon. Crystal is one of these pokemon test subjects.

Upon "picking up" Crystal, Dr. Lucafont immediately went back to his clinic. After using a few potent sedatives, Dr. Lucafont made his assistants strap Crystal to a gurney and bring her to the operating room. Dr. Lucafont wanted to test his brand new "Mental Enhancement" chip. This chip, supposedly, causes any thought to be "echoed", in effect, increasing the output. A few hours passed, and Crystal, still under the effects of the sedatives, was brought out of the operating room. She was then released back into the streets and was secretly followed by members of Dr. Lucafont's team. The following are observations of the team. Lines immediately following the observations are notes. (They refer to Crystal as patient 027)

1)Patient 027 seems to frequently suffer from headaches.

*The headaches are similar to the migraines often observed in Psyduck.
*Whenever patient 027 suffers from headaches, her psychic powers are extremely powerful.
*Patient 027 doesn't seem to be fully in control whenever these outbursts occur.
*Apparently, these episodes are caused by the chip. The amplification of the thoughts seems to be too much for patient 027's brain.

2)Whenever patient 027 isn't suffering from one of her headaches, her psychic ability, seems to be either as powerful as her ability prior the operation or weaker than her previous ability.

*When her psychic ability weakens, it is probably due to the chip. The chip only works because it gets its power from the electricity in patient 027's brain.
*After being implanted, the chip was able to extremely weaken patient 027's psychic abilities, leaving her with the characteristics of a normal type pokemon. However, over time, through both practice and natural development, she has gotten reacquainted with the psychic skills she lost.

Effects: Every round, there is a 50% chance that Crystal's psychic abilities are enhanced. This acts like a +2 stat boost to attack and special attack but only applies to psychic type moves. For clarity: If Crystal's psychic abilities are enhanced, and she uses magical leaf, nothing happens. However, if her psychic abilities are enhanced, and she uses confusion, calculations will be done as if Crystal has a +2 in special attack. Every round, there is a 30% chance that nothing happens to Crystal's psychic abilities. Every round, there is a 20% chance that Crystal's psychic abilities are reduced. This acts like a -2 stat reduction to attack and special attack but only applies to psychic type moves. For clarity: If Crystal's psychic abilities are enhanced, and she uses magical leaf, nothing happens. However, if her psychic abilities are enhanced, and she uses confusion, calculations will be done as if Crystal has a -2 in special attack. The stat boosts or stat reductions disappear after every round. These stat boosts or reductions aren't affected by moves such as haze. These stat boosts or reductions do not allow Crystal's stats to exceed the +/-6 limit. Crystal is now a normal and psychic type. However, Crystal has not relearned all her skills yet, so she can't use skill swap, trick room, imprison and future sight.

wartortle [Fondue] Wartortle (F) Torrent
Item: Lucky Egg
EXP: 2

ampharos [Static] Ampharos (M) Static
Item: Metal Coat
EXP: 6
Signature attribute: Scented Wool

Static has a habit of sleeping in fields. Among the fields he sleeps in, he spends the most time sleeping in a particular field full of plants that have a strong scent. This sickeningly sweet smell is extremely potent, having the ability to hinder and mess with the thoughts of pokemon. A strong enough whiff may even lull a pokemon to sleep. Because Static spends so much time in this field, spores tend to cling to his fleece, causing him to smell like the field. Also, the scent doesn't have much of an effect on Static because of all the time he has spent in the field. Only a small amount clings to his wool, so the scent does not disperse very far.

Effects: Whenever a pokemon makes contact with Static, there is a chance for that pokemon to become confused or asleep. There is a 20% chance of confusion (severity of confusion is based on how strong a whiff a pokemon gets and is left to the discretion of the referee) and 10% chance of sleep. The effects of the scent only come in play when pokemon make contact with Static, and ally pokemon can also be affected. Only one status may be inflicted per instance of contact because any one status inflicted is distracting enough to negate the others. Because spores tend to cover his tail, light doesn't pass through as effectively. Due to this, his flash is less effective and has a 70% accuracy instead of the usual 100%.

shellos [Shelly] Shellos (F) Sticky Hold
Item: Mystic Water
EXP: 2
Signature attribute: Of the Sea

Shellos and Gastrodon are naturally suited to the mud and the beach, where the earth and water meet; Pastoria and Sunyshore's seashores are home to many of the slugs. Shelly, though, has always felt more comfortable in the fluid, changing ocean altogether than the solid ground. Even as a child, she had played with Mantyke, Finneon, and even the occasional Vaporeon that swam by, instead of with Buizel and other Shellos.

As she got older, she almost lived in the sea, and many of the Pokémon were friendly; they taught her techniques unknown to Shellos. Of course, she had to keep up with them, and eventually, after much practice, she learned how to be as smooth as them in the water. Shelly has lost much of her familiarity with the land now, however.

Effects: Shelly gains the ability Swift Swim, but starts off at -1 Speed when she is on land. She also gains the following move alterations:
+ Aqua Jet, Aqua Ring, Waterfall, Acid Armor, Hydro Pump
- Mud Bomb, Earth Power, Fissure, Mud Sport, Mud Slap

EXP: 3

axew [Axeclaw] Axew (F) Mold Breaker

ralts [Sharplight] Ralts (M) Synchronize

swinub [Snowveil] Swinub (F) Snow Cloak
Signature attribute: Albinism

Somewhat obviously, most Ice-types live in a cold, snowy area; relatedly, almost all Ice-types also are white. From Cryogonal to Glaceon to Glalie, this form of cloaking and camouflage is nearly universal. After all, why not?

The "why not" part is rather puzzling in some cases, though, especially with Swinub, Piloswine, and Mamoswine. Though it may seem evident their brown color is connected to their Ground-typing, that still doesn't negate the usefulness of blending into your environment, whatever you are.

Of course, there is a genetic oddity that appears throughout any species; though most of the time, anything who has it is normally killed and removed from the gene pool quickly, living in the ice can lead to some interesting anomalies in these Pokémon. This trait is albinism, the inability to produce pigment to create color.

Effects: Snowveil is effectively an albino Swinub; she is plain white, save for her pink nose. Snow Cloak's accuracy decrease is now 20%; in white environments, she also has a natural accuracy decrease for all attacks used against her of 10%. However, she's used to being so well disguised that her Defense is naturally at -1 and resets to that stage.

Anthony, start off with a telekinesis at Aerofang. If you can't do this or she is unhittable, use it on Fern. If clones are up, psychic mental intrusion style(you can find the real one using your psychic abilities). If you can't do that, use psychic on Fern. Of course, if one is unhittable (except for subs), target the other. If however, a sub is up, don't telekinesis. Use psychic on Aerofang if she has a sub and use psychic on Fern is she has one. If both are unhittable (except for sub), use calm mind. If both have subs, hit Aerofang. If there are clones, use your psychic abilities to look for the real one and perform psychic mental intrusion style. On the second action, if Aerofang is under the effects of telekinesis, meteor mash her. If not, use telekinesis. If you can't do that, use psychic on Fern. If Fern's unhittable (except for sub), hit Aerofang. If Aerofang has a sub and not under telekinesis, don't use telekinesis. Use psychic on her instead. If she is unhittable (except for sub) hit Fern. However, if both are unhittable (except for sub) , disregard my previous condition and use psychic on Aerofang. Same on the third. If the conditions contradict, use your best judgment (i.e. don't try using psychic if your opponent is using protect).

Crystal, if she can be hit and she is not under telekinesis, use telekinesis on Aerofang. If that isn't the case, and Fern isn't under telekinesis, and Fern can be hit, use it on Fern instead. If not, if there's a sub, use psychic to break it. If there are clones, use your psychic abilities to look for the real one and use psychic on it mental intrusion style. On the second action, use hypnosis on Fern. If she can't be hit or hypnosis would have no chance of working, do it on Aerofang. If she can't be hit or hypnosis would have no chance of working or a sub is up, psychic. If both can't be hit or your attack wouldn't make sense (i.e. psychic on a protecting pokemon, hypnosis on a safeguarded pokemon) or you're unable to use those moves, use calm mind. On the third action, do the same, except if Fern's asleep already, you should obviously use hypnosis on Aerofang and vice versa.

Well uh. I'm going to rely on the power of the three conditionals limit and go from there!

Aerofang, you'll Taunt Crystal A1; pretty self-explanatory. Next, use Sunny Day; since that's somewhat unlikely to work, if you're Telekinesis'd and Anthony comes up to Meteor Mash you, use Fire Fang @ Anthony. Otherwise, Flamethrower @ Anthony. A3, Flamethrower or Fire Fang again.

Fern, for whatever reason you don't know Taunt, but whatever! Leech Seed @ Crystal, then if Sunny Day worked, Solarbeam @ Crystal; if it didn't, Leaf Storm @ Crystal. Keep Solarbeaming A3 if Sunny Day is up; if it isn't, Crunch @ Crystal. If you're Telekinesis'd, Energy Ball @ Crystal.

Arena: Dragonfly Meadow

Every night, dragonflies gather in this meadow, celebrating the beautiful flowers that bloom only in the presence of moonlight. Stars fill the sky, and occasionally, Beautifly wander about. The moon bathes the entire field in a gentle glow.

The cold light of the moon shines eerily off the wings of dragonflies and silver-dusted flowers that blossom only under its touch. Endless stars streak across the midnight sky, brilliant gold and white piercing the deepest black. Especially at night, the Dragonfly Meadow is beautiful to behold, and even the soft shadows flitting about inspire rather than frighten. The crisp air clears minds, and the gentle breeze can soothe even the most aggressive tauros. Truly, this is a place to meditate, or stand in awe at the understated beauty the world can hide—or, if you’re from a certain privately-owned island where trainers gather, to battle.

Whirlpool tosses two poké balls onto the grass, and the flash of light is almost rude in its brightness. An aerodactyl swoops into the air and roars upon entry, scattering dragonflies in her wake, while her partner, a treecko, pauses to examine one of the rare flowers. Skylark throws his own two poké balls to reveal a metagross and a ralts, both much calmer than the aerodactyl. As the aerodactyl comes to a rest on the grass, stomping one of the flowers flat, the ralts reaches out with her mind and brushes against the treecko’s. She feels the treecko’s inner well of power, just waiting to be tapped, and, with a slight smile, learns to find her own.

Skylark and Whirlpool declare their orders, and the pokémon launch into action.

Round One

Aerofang rears up and spreads her wings wide. Look, she crows, at how powerful her jaws are, at the might of her wings! Truly, her fangs and jaws are the best weapons there are, and the only true way of attacking is by physically taking the opponent down. Back when aerodactyl dominated the skies, everyone knew this truth. But, she says, with a pointed smirk at Crystal, it’s clear that pokémon have forgotten this lesson over the millennia. Crystal twitches and stares, and Aerofang takes this as encouragement. She brings her wings forth, letting the ralts feel the air rushing past her. Look, Aerofang says, feel how strong her wings are, to force air forth with pure physical force! Certainly, no ralts can do that, and the gods have seen fit to deny Crystal even the potential to one day gain anything like the might of the ancients. Crystal’s expression is unreadable, and her eyes still hidden under the shadow of her cap, but she’s trembling. It certainly doesn’t help when Fern tosses a seed onto her chest, which immediately sprouts a shoot and sends thin roots digging under the ralts’s skin.
Anthony pays little heed to Aerofang’s display and instead extends its mind to bind and lift the aerodactyl in place. Aerofang wobbles, disconcerted by this uncontrolled liftoff, but she rebalances quickly enough. She’s not uncomfortable, but she is rather displeased to find that she can’t fly from this spot. Crystal stares at her a while longer, then turns her gaze on Fern. She’s meant to reach out with her mind and hinder the treecko similarly, but no, that’s not what Fern deserves. Instead, Crystal launches herself at Fern and flails with her arms and legs, weak kicks and punches that catch Fern off-guard more than they hurt her. But Crystal’s face is drawn in a vindicated not-smile. Aerofang wants to see physical force, does she? Well, how is this?

Unimpressive, Aerofang seems to answer when she only offers a scoff. Instead, it’s Anthony who’s the centre of her attention, and she watches it closely. It’s easier to follow than Crystal, at least, metal reflecting light even better than pale skin. And rather than Aerofang being made to suffer for not paying attention, it’s Crystal who earns that fate. Fern scrambles away unnoticed, and when safe, thrusts out a hand. Crystal’s only warning is the gentle breeze whipping up into a frenzy, tearing leaves and grass and pure grass energy that burns and slices and stings. Now she’s paying attention. And if Fern’s content to play around with energies natural to her, then so is Crystal. She reaches out with her mind and pierces the treecko’s thin defences, then viciously crushes all that she can reach.

Meanwhile, Aerofang realises that the brilliant light shining off Anthony is instead coming from within. Anthony lunges forward, one fist thrust forward, undeterred by the flames erupting from Aerofang’s mouth. Aerofang snaps at the metang’s arm, but though her fangs pierce and even tear through the metallic armour, there’s no stopping the strike from hitting her chest. Anthony backs off, inscrutable, but when the metallic shine fades, some of the energy lingers beneath its armour.

Aerofang isn’t looking forward to doing that again, even with the gouges she’s managed to leave on Anthony’s arm; her teeth are sore, and her chest more so, and she’d really rather blast Anthony from a distance. But her fangs will not fail her; her trainer named her for them, after all. Fern, too, is preparing her jaws with a flare of energy, an aura of pure blackness that seems to strengthen her fangs and jaws. Fortunately for her, her target’s skin is much softer, and Fern bites into Crystal’s arm as hard as she can. Crystal’s revenge is, as before, a crushing psychic grip on Fern’s mind.

Aerofang, though, isn’t so eager to let the exact same scenario as before unfold. Instead, when she summons the flames to lick at her teeth, she prepares her wings as well. Anthony shoots forth with all the might of a meteor, and even as its fist connects with Aerofang’s chest, it finds itself with a faceful of fire and fang.

Didn't Skylark's Pokémon have more than three conditionals each action, so shouldn't they be randomized or something to that effect?

We asked Negrek during BfA if that would count for multiple conditionals, and she said no... And our commands for BfA are operating under that rule, and none of our Pokemon have become confused. ... yeah I'm not sure anymore @.@

I've been running under the same rules as BFA, so. There are some conditions when targeting different pokémon would be different, but something like "if X is not available, target Y" is quite clearly not one of them, going by BFA's proceedings.

I think that, by now, all these proceedings are public and I will not make a huge fuss over its declassification.

They do not count as conditionals.

Iffy. "Convenient" is vague, and there are likely to be multiple targets that would fulfill it.

wait, they don't count as conditionals? so we could command, say, [redacted]?

(the aerodactyl is holding a choice scarf; that's why it matters)

Just make sure she is close enough for you to be able to attack her with projectile moves.

Round Two

Aerofang’s teeth gleam in the moonlight, a threat display Anthony ignores. It seems Aerofang gets to choose her own target, but there’s no question in her mind which opponent is more deserving of her flames. Still, her trainer has warned her of the possibility Anthony will try to protect himself, so she just leers. Fern, with no such need for hesitation, instead throws herself into a ritual dance, twirling and swiping her arms through the air as though she’s gracefully wielding swords that would cut her opponents to ribbons. In truth, it’s a bit more like meditation than trying to raise her emotions to a frenzy, and all distractions, even the pain in her head, recede. It’s not to last long, though, as she’ll soon find, and even as she settles into the final stance, Crystal’s mind lashes out and wraps around her body. Fern is lifted into the air, and despite her kicks, and attempts to reach the ground, she finds herself hanging helplessly.
Silver light coats Anthony’s claws and spills up its arm, and Aerofang has a moment of trepidation. Actually, she thinks, maybe it’s better if Anthony had tried to protect himself, after all. But she’s as eager to let flames spill forth from her jaws, wilder than the flames she kept around her teeth, and Anthony rockets forward, fist outstretched, only to find itself rushing into a stream of fire. Still, the flames do nothing to stop Anthony’s punch, and it tears through with a mighty punch against Aerofang’s jaw. Anthony pulls back, more satisfied than hurt, and seems completely unconcerned when Aerofang gives it a savage grin—its psychic hold on her, as both are aware, has loosened.

Fern can only hang helplessly in the air, unable to reach Crystal, who has by now edged beyond her reach, and before Aerofang can revel in her freedom, she finds herself trapped in another psychic grip. But no matter. It’ll just make it easier to bring forth her next attack. The air around her wings shimmers with heat, less visible under the light of the moon than that of the sun, and with a mighty flap, great flames and winds rush forth, hungrily licking at Anthony’s metal body and Crystal’s flesh. Though Anthony’s surface deforms under the heat, it is Crystal who proves more vulnerable; where the flames hit, the damage runs deep, and she finds that it hurts to even move. The vines crawling across her skin wither under the flames, and the heat burns deeper, down to the roots.

Good thing, then, that Crystal doesn’t intend to move just yet. She reaches out with her mind and coils it around Fern’s, not unlike the more physical hold Fern is suffering now. Fern stares coldly, despite knowing what is to occur, and Crystal squeezes with all her might. A headache cuts deep into Fern’s skull, and yet again, there’s nothing she can do about it—she’s still trapped in the air. But her glare promises murder.

Anthony draws the power of steel to its fist once more, and yet again, when it throws itself forward, it finds itself tearing through a stream of fire. Still, there’s little Aerofang can do to stop its fist from connecting with her jaw, and though its skin is visibly deforming, only Aerofang tastes blood. Aerofang spits out a broken tooth and runs her tongue over some more cracked fangs. She knows perfectly well that she can’t hold up to many more of these strikes, but if she can defeat Anthony fast enough, she won’t have to. But fire won’t do it alone. Perhaps Fern…? But Fern is only capable of holding her head between her hands and kicking as though it would aid her headache, and glaring out from the shadows cast over her face.

Wouldn't heat wave have burned off the leech seed?

If there are clones, hit the one with a shadow. "Unhittable," unless specified, does not include substitutes. If my conditions contradict each other, the condition first stated has higher priority.

Anthony, start off with a meteor mash at Aerofang. If Aerofang is unhittable, hit Fern.
If they're both unhittable, use reflect. If you can't use meteor mash or reflect, use Iron Head (Aerofang is the priority target, but Fern should be hit if Aerofang can't be hit). If none of the conditionals apply or you have nothing to do, use Iron Head(targeting the same as mentioned previously).

For the second action, meteor mash at Aerofang if it hasn't fainted (unless it's unhittable). If it has (or is unhittable), target Fern. If both are unhittable, use reflect. If you can't use use meteor mash or iron defense, use iron head (with same targeting conditions as meteor mash). If none of the conditionals apply or if you have nothing to do, use iron head. If you are tormented, use whichever attacking move you can.
Do the same on the third action.

Crystal, if at any point, you are targeted with something that can be bounced by magic coat, use magic coat. On the first action, if the condition for magic coat doesn't apply, use hypnosis on Fern. If that won't work, including protect, uproar, safeguard, substitute or what have you, use psyshock on Fern. If Fern's unhittable, target Aerofang. If both are unhittable, target Fern. If none of the conditions apply or you have nothing to do, default to psyshock.

On the second action, if Aerofang hasn't fainted, hit it with psychic. If it has fainted or is unhittable, hit Fern. However, if Fern's sleeping, use dream eater on her instead. If Fern's sleeping and Aerofang hasn't fainted, hit Aerofang with psychic. If none of the conditions apply or you have nothing to do, use psychic.

On the third action, do the same as the second. However, use psyshock instead of psychic.

Rest up, Aerofang; you'll need it. Hopefully the damage you'll take will speed up your waking up. Chill until you wake up. When or if you do, Bide (if it needs a target, Bide @ Crystal).

Fern, Swagger @ Crystal, which will activate the Magic Coat conditional and give you an Attack boost. Then, Focus Punch @ Anthony twice.

Round Three

The cracks in her skin and the deep bruising beneath haven’t yet managed to do Aerofang in, but she knows she can’t take much more of them. Not as she is, anyway. So it’s with relief that she lets herself fold her wings—a little unnerving without anything solid beneath her talons, but the psychic grip around her body holds her up well—and withdraw from the outside world to focus solely on patching up the wounds on her body. She glows pale blue with psychic power, and already the cracks in her rocky hide thin and close completely.

Fern shoots her opponents a nasty grin. Did they really believe that defeating Team Whirlpool would be so easy? Ridiculous. And now they’re going to turn this battle around. She calls out to Crystal, who peers up from under her cap, and her eyes narrow. This is somewhat familiar. And Crystal’s suspicions are confirmed when Fern relaxes in the air, the picture of casual arrogance, and, in a drawl engineered to provoke—You’re an idiot if you think you can win against us. After all that, Aerofang still hasn’t fallen, and guess what? It’s too late now. But, despite a glimmer of anger, Crystal’s quick to toss up a shimmering pink barrier, and she can’t help but smile when Fern’s expression twists from overconfidence to fury.

Anthony’s fist shines with the power of steel yet again and it drives its fist into the disappearing cracks on Aerofang’s hide with a hint of irrational haste—it’s too late to defeat Aerofang before she manages to secure her survival, after all. And its fears are confirmed when she jerks back with its punch but doesn’t succumb to true unconsciousness. In fact, she just relaxes further, apparently paying no heed to the new cracks in her skin. At least, Anthony thinks, this new injury isn’t showing any signs of fading. Crystal comes to Anthony’s aid, eyes glowing blue and hand outstretched in Aerofang’s direction, targeting the aerodactyl’s mind instead of her body. Still, though Aerofang twitches in response, she neither awakens nor falls to the attack. Anthony drives another meteor mash into Aerofang’s body, sending chips of rocky skin flying, but Aerofang continues to hold on.

Unnoticed by either, Fern has dropped to the ground and regained mobility. And just in time. Her heart pounds in her ears, and her blood feels like fire under her skin. She’s dizzy, almost sick with fury, and she wants to break Crystal’s neck or slice her to pieces or just start screaming and never stop. But instead she staggers toward Anthony. Her fist glows with power, so bright that none would dare look at it directly, and she drives her fist into Anthony’s back with all her might. Anthony jerks around in surprise. Its mind detects the dent in its backside that fits Fern’s fist, and it notes with concern that the treecko is drawing back her fist again, and that her fist is glowing once more with a similar power. But with Aerofang still relaxing behind it, Anthony has a different target to focus on.

Anthony turns in time to see its psychic hold on the aerodactyl fade, but Aerofang doesn’t react to dropping to the ground beyond a shift in position. Still, a sleeping target is hardly more difficult than one held under Anthony’s own power. Its fist shines silver for the seventh time this battle, and it slams its meteor mash into Aerofang’s back. But this time, although its fist smashes through her skin with ease, and the blood trickles out and down her skin, she doesn’t notice. And Crystal’s psychic thrashing is met with similar indifference.

Anthony itself isn’t so lucky. Fern’s second punch strikes true, and Anthony can feel the pain shooting out from the second dent. In fact, it doesn’t feel like it can hold on much longer at all, and although the injuries on Aerofang’s body mean she should be in worse shape than the metang, Anthony can tell that it’s the one who risks falling first.
