The trick is to find the "fandom whore" (ie. the person in the fandom who gets paired with everyone else) and then explore the possibilites (best done with a tick-chart of every single character, no matter how minor, both inside and out of the fandom).

The best examples of this I can think of offhand are Rikku from FFX, who I've seen paired with characters up to and including Hypello, Eiko (from FFIX) and her own father, and Cuddy from House, who I've seen (and read!) paired with everyone from the dwarf-lady in that Christmas episode, to Wilson's ex-wives, to half the cast of Grey's Anatomy. X3
 
Yeah, feel free to list just generally terrible pairings, as well.

As for that, I've actually found a very explicit picture of Captain Planet and Pikachu. And many, many more that have skipped my mind at the moment.

in KHR!, of course, the bicycle is "everyone".
