• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

DQ: Two weeks
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, chills limited to 5/pokémon, 50% recovery moves
Arena: Outside of Kanto's Pokémon Theme Park

Kanto's Pokémon Theme Park is a godsend to dozens of both trainer-owned and wild Pokémon. Containing pools, hills, playground equipment, and plenty of fresh fruit trees, any Pokémon can have a blast while relaxing their stress away!

... But it's Pokémon-only. No trainers allowed.

That said, the area right outside said park is still beautiful. A large, wide, gently-flowing river runs just past a great rolling plain, containing a well-worn dirt trail, a few rocks, plenty of grass and flowers, and some tall trees far in the distance.

... Sure, it's just generic arena #1 with a river, but this has backstory! And pictures!

Arena: High-Up Colosseum

At High-Up Colosseum, the name speaks for itself: it's basically a high-up platform with a PokeBall symbol at the center. It was built in the middle of a desert plain, right above an oasis. Three ladders are there for the trainers and ref to reach the top. Pokemon taking 10% damage or more in one attack are easily knocked off the platform, dealing 5% more damage and requiring a toll of 3% Energy to get back up. Flying types and Levitating Pokemon can avoid this, however. The weather is always sunny.

DQ: Two weeks (darn you, unstable internet situation)
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, chills limited to 5/pokémon, 50% recovery moves, weather moves (to a point, see description)
Arena: Kokuyo Healthy Land

The battle opens on the top floor of a degraded entertainment resort, ruined by a mudslide and left to nature for approximately ten years. The third floor was a playstage in its past life, with all chairs and obstructions removed. However, because of its rickety, moldy floor, any moves that would sufficiently damage the floor (Earthquake, heavy enough rock moves, floor-damaging fire moves), or Pokémon heavier than four hundred pounds (180 kg) that aren't part Flying or have Levitate will break the floor, causing both Pokémon to plunge to the ground, dealing anything not part Flying or Levitate-having 10% damage. If such situation occurs, the battle will move outside to your standard clearing-in-a-forest, and weather moves will be permitted.

EDIT: Apparently, this one's been taken. ^^; I guess the front page just hadn't been updated. So, um...NOT battling.

You obviously didn't, Terry. If you had, you'd know that you have to get a bank account and buy a team, and that 'profile' meant your ASB profile, not your actual forum profile. And you'd also know that only refs can, erm, ref.

:D battle meeee someone?

2v2 Single
DQ: One Week
Damage Cap: 40%
Banned Moves: Attract, OHKOs
Arena: Roy’s Office
This battle takes place in the office of General Roy Mustang of Eastern Amestrian Command. The room is large and square, with huge windows at one end, and a door at the other. A desk, with Roy himself seated in it, is under the windows, covered with papers that have a 15% per round chance of being flung to the floor by Roy’s frustration. There are two leather couches between the desk and door that may be climbed. The floor is wooden, and has a bit of dust around that can be used for attacks like Sand Tomb, Sand Attack, ect. There are two rows of bookshelves on the walls on the opposite sides of the room. The Pokemon in the battle are reduced in size so that something like, say, steelix, would be around a foot tall, and something like pikachu would be around 4-5 inches. There is a 20% per round chance that Roy will look up from his work, notice the Pokemon, and attack them for 5% Fire-typed damage with his flame alchemy, and the chance is upped if an Earthquake attack is used to 50% chance that round. There is also a 25% chance that Edward Elric will come into the room and yell at Roy, effective as a Screech attack.

DQ: 5 days.
Damage Cap: 40%
Banned Moves: OHKOs, Non-Secondary Healing.
Arena: Bowl Ridge

A red clay ridge in the shape of a bowl, about 250 feet from one side to the other at the top, and about 150 feet from bottom to top. Water is pooled at the bottom. There are handholds on the otherwise smooth walls. Earth-and-Rock type attacks take 3% less energy to use. If you can use you're imagination, there are surely ways to power up attacks using the shape of the field...

Arena: Vermillion Pier

On the south side of Vermillion City a long, wooden pier stretches out into the ocean leading to the dock. The pier's surface is about ten feet above the water with three foot high fences along the edge. The south end of the pier leads to a small, paved island that's used as a dock, however there are no ships currently docked. The pier itself is weak in places, and will collapse if a Pokemon weighing more than 600 lbs. or about 272 kg. is sent out onto it. Moves that create intense heat-enough to catch wood on fire-will do so and burn through the pier. If it burns away too much then the affected area will collapse. If, however, the pier gets significantly wet then it will not burn. Any particularly destructive moves that would be powerful enough to at least moderately damage wood can also collapse parts of the pier.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was halfway through writing this before I realized that I wasn't completely sure that the pier in Vermillion is actually wooden. I attempted to look it up but Google Images wasn't giving me any pictures or screenshots of Vermillion. I eventually had to dig out my Fire Red just to make sure. Luckily, it was wooden.

Aaaaanyway, anyone want to battle?
