The Isles Region

So if anybody asks you, you belong to Man on Earth
I'm working on this with two of my friends. I'm doing spritework with one friend, and another friend is going to do the programming and such. We're all doing the story together. Hopefully we'll have three games by the end of this.
Spriting isn't finished, in fact many existing sprites need heavy work done or even a complete redesign. To see the existing sprites, go here.

This is the Isles Region:
Islesmap-1.png

Obviously, it is made up of a number of islands. Scientists believe they were brought up eons ago by a giant meteor. Now it is thriving with unseen pokemon, and is home to a major research corporation. Getting from island to island is a challenge, which is why there are many boat services, as well as airports.

Islands in the region:
Your hometown is the town in the top left corner. The town on the island to its right has the first gym, which is electric type. It also houses a power plant. The island below your hometown has two cities, the second having a water gym and an aquarium. The island to the bottom right of that island has a very large city, which is a popular tourist location because of its ever popular carnival, with attractions from all across the world. The town to the north of that one was once home to that carnival, but the carnival was moved to the southern town decades ago, and now the sad old carnival is populated by nothing but ghosts. That town contains the ghost-type gym, led by the carnival's former ringleader. On the crescent-shaped island there is supposed to be a dark gym, but the gym is actually on the small island within the crescent. The island to the northeast of the crescent has two large cities. The island to the west of the volcanic island has a rock-type gym, an airport, and the research headquarters.
The island on the bottom right can only be accessed by airplane (or dive), and is home to the Poison-type gym.
The island west of that one has the art museum and the last gym, which is normal type.
The island on the bottom left can only be accessed by dive, and only has a small town. But that town is home to people who know quite a lot about ancient myths. and finally, the island on the far-right is the location of the Pokemon League. It can only be reached through victory road, which is completely underneath the sea.
There is a mountain slightly northwest of the Pokemon League that is so tall it reaches the clouds.

Groups:

Morph stones -
morphstone.png

The research corporation (as of yet unnamed.) They discovered the mysterious properties of the Morph Stones.
Team Abyss (not official name)-
broke off from the research corporation long ago, since there was heavy protest to their testing on live pokemon. They are researching the Morph stones, mysterious rocks that are found around the region that evolve certain pokemon, and show the ability to be turned into other evolution stones. The team may once have had good intentions, but now they only want power.
Team Helio -
Team Helio, unlike most teams, is not focused on powerful pokemon. They are trying to use the power of the sun to create a doomsday device.
Team 3 (unnamed) -
They are continuing the work of Team Abyss. They have learned how to use the Morph stones to create pokemon, and now want to use them to create a Dark Pokemon capable of world domination. (go figure.)

Legends -
Spirit: An evil spirit lives somewhere in the isles region, but it is sealed away somewhere. It is said that it can only be awakened by a full moon.

Balance: there is a legend that a pokemon exists who controls everything, all to keep proper balance in the world. It makes sure that good and evil, peace and war, even hot and cold are balanced. not much is known beyond that, though.

Princes: ages ago, explorers discovered the Isles. A king took claim to the islands for his own country, and moved there in his old age with his three sons. The king's sons all had an insatiable hunger for power, and each wanted to overcome his brothers. So, on his deathbed, the king asked his most trusted friend to make sure that each prince had equal power to the other. The king's friend thought long and hard, and then called each prince in one at a time. The oldest brother wanted enough power to stand above all, so the king's friend gave him a spear that could be thrown anywhere, no matter what. The prince greedily took the spear and left. After that, he was never seen or heard from again. The middle brother said he wanted enough to control all, so the king's friend gave him a trident that could control the tides, so that the prince could sway the paths of all who crossed the seas. The prince took the trident and was never seen or heard from again. The youngest brother wanted enough power to watch over all, so the king's friend gave him a crystal ball that could see anything anywhere. The prince took the crystal ball and left, and disappeared just like his brothers. The king's cousin took over Isles, and the country was saved from chaos.
Note: the three treasures are not the deathly hallows!

I like your map :D

Also I think the Morph Stones is a really interesting concept- it would be neat if the games got them.

And if I might suggest a name for the third team, perhaps you could call it Team Eclipse? I think it captures the middle ground between Abyss and Helios without all the annoying syllables of Twilight. Or the bad associations.

Seems interesting though I have a few constructive critcisms for your Pokemon design:

-> Pokemon have very distinct, human-like, big eyes.
-> Pokemon usually consist of (large, distinct) circular shapes.
-> Pokemon usually are smooth, clean, and don't have too many ornate details.
-> Pokemon don't usually have thin limbs or bodies, and err to the chubby side.

tl;dr -> Pokemon are cute, or at least, have the possibility of being considered cute besides very rare exceptions.

Without consisting of large eyes, mainly circles, and are fairly simple/smooth you won't get the Pokemon-feel, but more of a Digimon/Yu-Gi-Oh characters feel, because they are usually angular, thin, small-eyed, busy/ornately detailed creatures that are kind of ugly.

But um, besides that, it seems neat! =D
