Open When the Worlds Need Us

Galacta Knight put his feet down and skidded to a halt as the missiles flew for him. Just before they reached their target, he spread his wings and sprang high off of the ground. This should scatter them!

Aiming his lance towards the sky, a faint rumbling could be heard from the ground. As the noise grew, sand began to shift as cracks formed, then holes. Lava bubbled beneath the surface.

Next, the fireworks.

As soon as she saw them move toward their destination, Moonwing launched herself, keeping her wings in as she ascended. When she began to lose momentum less than a few seconds later, she flapped her deep blue bat-like wings quickly to gain altitude. Then she focused on speed, making sure she was in at least a somewhat aerodynamic position, and saw the sea fall below her. Everything seemed so fast she could hardly keep up, but she knew she would still be pretty far behind the others. Many people had chosen to teleport, which she admitted was faster, but she didn't see a need to stoop down and require help from others when she was perfectly capable of getting there herself.

As she was lost in thought, she made considerable progress and was now nearly above the beach. But she paused in midair, trying to slow down, as she noticed something destroying the ground below. It seemed to create a tear in the ground as bubbling magma was revealed below the surface. Alarmed, Moonwing veered back; this definitely seemed like an enemy. Luckily, she had the water to her advantage. She did a sort of twisted backflip, bringing up a wave and probably startling some swimming people in the process, which then became a spout similar to the one she had summoned back at the fortress, but it seemed more powerful somehow. Luckily, no bystanders were hurt as the spout disconnected from the rest of the ocean and hurled toward the bat-winged, sphere-type creature who had opened up the crack in the ground.

Caeda flew in close, but the winged creature seemed too agile for her pegasus to keep up. Instead, she had to back off a bit as some flying objects scattered, one heading towards her. Now things got crazy, as she noticed not only the earth itself opening up, but also a twister of water flew towards the winged one.

KOS-MOS landed on the beach, and immediately found an enemy the others were fighting, a small flying creature. A blaster warped into KOS-MOS's hand. She took aim and fired a series of shots at the spherical creature.

Bonecrusher's massive vehicle form powered out of the way of the scattered missiles, as well as the fissures in the ground. Ravage also leaped out of the way of both attacks.

"Try using something that won't scatter," Bonecrusher pointed out, "something that will be difficult for him to avoid."

"I figured as much," Ravage said dryly. Aiming his tail at the winged creature, he fired the green laser at the thing.

Pillars of flame burst from the fissures, only for some to be immediately doused by a large spout from the ocean. That never happened before... The rest of the flames died down, and the ground returned to its original state.

Galacta Knight tried to veer out of the way, but his reaction was too late. A burst of water splashed into him and knocked him back. Losing height as well, he fell mostly out of range of the fired shots, though one managed to graze his wing. Feathers, a few charred, scattered in his wake as he tried to regain his position in the air. However, the assault wasn't over. As he again regained height, a green laser fired from one of the mechanical creatures struck him in the other wing. Clearly, he wasn't accustomed to fighting so many enemies at once.

I have to land, he thought, letting himself drop from the sky and onto his feet. His right wing, the one blasted by Ravage, was heavily damaged and gripped by pain. Thinking quickly, he raised his lance. A beam shot from its tip, many times its length, composed of glowing blue spheres charged with energy. Without moving his lance, the beam swept counter-clockwise in the direction of his foes.

Cecill blinked as he realised a battle was going on. A blue beam of energy came at him. He ducked under it and ran forward, drawing his pistol. The little ball thing with a lance was putting up a fight for...well, a little ball thing with a lance. Cecill quickly aimed at the eyes and fired.

~~~
Vile looked around. Suddenly, a fissure appeared, water flew everywere and there were laserbeams all over. "Woah!" He quickly dug into the ground, leaving only his petals. He began to dig forward, and soon he had managed to move around to behind the round thing with a lance without being noticed. He jumped up and fired a great blob of sludge at the round thing.
Lucidia jumped back towards the city - there was fire on the ground, and little winged things which seemed rather crazy were causing magma or something to come up from under the ground. Maybe she just had to defeat them? I'm thinking that Dorchet's Fly Swatter trait will come in handy.
"Dorchet, if one gets near you, be sure to attack it somehow," she said, actually somewhat clueless of what she was supposed to do. All she knew was that these things were her enemies. Probably.
"I think that's common sense," he replied, half-retorted, but who knew whether they would purposefully get near a twelve-foot chicken with a sword?
One of them strayed ... and was instantly felled by Dorchet's blade ((they're tiny, right?)). Nobody else seemed to be having much luck, though.
"Maybe they're not resistant to elecricity," Lightning reasoned, "since they seem to be flying around in the sky all the time." She started mumbling again, but it sounded more like an echoing bass note sung in a cave. The light ring appeared below her again, and when she released the magic, bolts of electricity zapped the three nearest flying bat-winged things.
"Eh, that works," Lucidia said, putting a hand behind her head.
Gohan wasn't startled as much as the others, seeing as he could sense power levels. He knew right when he teleported that the enemies were there, but he had no time to warn anybody before one of them charged. Gohan held back cursing as he once again had to use his Super Saiyan abilities. As before, Gohan went through changes until a golden-haired aura-surrounded boy was shown.
Jim flew up as the ground started to quake under him, releasing flames that were quickly extinguished. Seeing the source of the quakes land, Jim flew higher, the sun in his eyes. Hey, there's an idea he thought, forming a ball of bright energy in his hands. He threw the ball in the direction of the sun, and the sky lit up three times brighter than normal, at the least. Concentrating, Jim created four clones, all drawing their hook swords. As he hung back, his clones started their descent towards the enemy.
An azure ball of energy was blasted from the helmet-type thing as it fell from the air. Moonwing seemed rather stressed; there was no time to cast Clang and block it. But she knew that she could probably take at least one more attack; she wasn't as fragile as she looked. She lost elevation as she was hit, but luckily fell into the water, so she wasn't exactly beaten down further. And something else that helped was her Steady Recovery ability; she had managed to recover at least a little health. Quickly, she launched herself back out of the water and stood on the shore. Thankfully, the ground had no more fissures in it, which could have been hazardous to those who couldn't fly.
After a few moments without the winged thing moving, she decided it could be her turn. For a moment, she scanned through her spells, since she preferred to keep her distance. Quickly, she placed a clawed foot and the tip of her spiked tail in the water, then whirled around, sending droplets into the air. Then less then a second later, she created a small gust with her wings and froze them with a little magic power, and finally sent them toward the grounded foe as sharp icicles.
Several of the sphere grazed Bonecrusher's chassis. The energy spheres left several scorch marks on the tan metal. A deep shriek emerged from the speakers of the vehicle, and then it swiveled toward the winged thing, and charged.
As it charged, a fixture popped out of the side and shaped itself into a cannon. Without a moments delay, Bonecrusher let loose a stream of energy from the cannon, while Ravage aimed his tail laser at the thing and fired again.
"I must admire the audacity of this thing," Ravage said to himself, "At least that immortal fleshling was supported by those demonic beings. This guy's on his own."
Galacta Knight, knowing his vulnerability, kept careful watch of his opponents. When he saw one of them pull a gun on him, he did all that he could do; duck and prevent the bullets from going in his visor. Made of platinum, his mask held to the shots.
After the beam had done a full sweep, it vanished. Alright. New strate--
He was cut off mid-thought as something splashed him from behind with great force. Some filthy substance was now running down his back, searing his skin. He felt the ground lurch beneath him as nausea seized him. The shapes before him became blurry, and he felt energy being sapped from him. Poison! was the first verbal thought he could manage. Where...? He tried to whip around but somehow ended up stumbling backward.
Then he saw the icicles headed his way. The toxins, which he, unlike a usual Pokemon victim, was not accustomed to and struggled to fight against, had dulled his senses. The starry splashes before his eyes didn't help either. Relying fully on his instincts, he readied his lance and plunged it into the ground. A torrent of wind formed in front of him and swept forward, pulling in the icicles. They swirled about and crashed together before the cyclone died away, leaving nothing but shattered bits of ice.
Pulling his lance from the ground, he was immediately met with a blast of energy, followed by another laser. In his state, there was no way he could have evaded.
The poisoning had burdened him, but it wasn't getting any worse, and after the initial shock his body was beginning to handle it. Still... I am severely outnumbered and overwhelmed. My energy is draining away, and--he remembered with a jolt--I cannot fly!
Bonecrusher readied another cannon blast, but when the thing unleashed another tornado, a question that had been nagging in his head came to light:
"Ravage, that tornado styled attack... doesn't it seem familiar?"
Seeing the thing momentarily weakened, Ravage took a moment to analyze the attack.
"A cyclonic attack that tosses around its target... I think something like that happened to one of those giant demonic creatures. But that's just it... it hit one of our enemies before, and now it's being used against us.... I wonder-"
"Now's not the time," Bonecrusher cut off, "Let's finish that little freak now, and figure the rest out later."
----
At the sound of a series of explosions, the Meta decloaked, turned around and let off a series of low growls at Washington.
"Galacta Knight? I'm sure he'll be fine."
A few snarls. "I also saw how many enemies they had there. If he's as good as he says he is, then he shouldn't have any problems. And if he does, then it will take the wind out of his sails for a while."
Another growl. "Then we'll cut our losses. Now let's keep moving. I'd like to get to that city sooner rather than later."
The Meta turned back around, activated his cloaking device, and continued on walking. Without a moment's hesitation, Washington followed him.
((I can't remember what other things that a diamagon ace can do, and the site where I usually check has its service "temporarily" unavailable D: I'll just try to remember something.))
Moonwing looked startled but not intimidated as she saw that her icicles had been blown together and away. "So much for Kacrack," she muttered under her breath with an exasperated look in her green eyes. Her tail twitched as she began to think of what else she would do. Wave of Relief wouldn't work since her allies were mostly unharmed, and Disruptive Wave wouldn't do anything either because the only things that had their effects grappling the enemy were negative -- blindness, mostly. Somewhat stumped, she merely resorted to a close-range attack, although was sure to be agile enough as to not be hit on a bare spot. She leaped toward the knight-type thing, but as she was a body length away, feinted to the left and then right. Quickly, she drew her left claw up, explosive energy gathering at it, and slashed forward with a quick leap back. Bomb Slash might work, since this thing looks like it's in the Material family, she considered. No guarantees, though. It might be Bangproof.
Vile smiled happily as the Sludge Bomb connected. A moment later, the sun got brighter, lots brighter. "Huh? Did the Herracross use Sunny Day?" He decided to experiment. He charged a Solar Beam. It took only a few moments for it to fully charge. "Sweet, hehe" He fired the pulse at the round thing, careful not to hit the person running at said round thing.
~~~

The armor deflected or absorbed all of the shots. "Snap!" Cecill shook his head. "Right then, let's see how much you like this!" He waited for Moonwing to get clear, then he drew his rifle and unleashed a jet of flame. For some reason, the flames seemed bigger and hotter "Wierd...oh well" Cecill lowered his rifle to watch the little ball thing get burned. Unless, of course, he dodged, but the amount of times he'd been hit and the fact he was stumbling around made Cecill think he wasn't going to dodge the flames.

An energy beam followed by another one stopped KOS-MOS's forward momentum as she approached the target. As she raised the blaster to fire off a series of shots with a higher accuracy than before, it was struck out of her hand. The nanomachines repaired her hand, but then transformed it into a cannon. KOS-MOS raised it and fired a single shell, calculating a fair chance to hit now that the target was immobilized.

Caeda was hovered above the battlefield, but found no real good chance to strike. Except now, when the small winged warrior had his wings clipped. However, as she was preparing to dive, spear drawn, the others struck first. Caeda relented, and then had to wonder why exactly this one little warrior was attacking their group. The odds seemed too long.

Clara didn't really know what the flying thing was, but there wass definately a battle.

Possibly I'll level up?

Clara felt energized as Heracross used Sunny Day.

"Good job, Heracross!"

Clara charged at the enemy, aiming a thunderpunch at its face with one hand and a firepunch with the other.

As Moonwing struck out with her claws, Galacta Knight just managed to respond with his shield quickly enough to prevent their connection. Immediately after, he saw that flames were now blowing against it. Though the fiery stream didn't quite reach him, the heat was overwhelming.

Then something struck him from behind--again. Once he began to shake the light-headedness, he hadn't the time to deal with the enemy that had made its way behind him. He was caught in a beam of light which seared his body and left him drained.

Galacta Knight looked up in time to be knocked back with great force by some sort of cannon shell. Another one of his foes came to follow up on the attack, but by then he was ready to take evasive action. Taking his lance in both hands and rising off of the ground, he began to whirl around until he was surrounded by an orange funnel. In tornado form, he swept forward, then made an arc and went back faster than he came in the direction of the Vileplume.

((No worries; this can't go on much longer.))

Bonecrusher saw the tornado heading for the floral creature, and estimated that the thing was on its last legs, and quickly decided to take a direct course of action.

Still in vehicle mode, the Constructicon faced the tornado thing, and abruptly charged at it at high speed. Bonecrusher was gambling on the idea that the tornado attack was intended to lift things up and toss them around like a regular tornado, and that it couldn't toss around a vehicle as massive as the Buffalo Minesweeper. If he was right, this battle would have reached its conclusion. And if he was wrong... well, Ravage would be able to help them until he recovered.

Assuming he did recover.

Blind to his surroundings, he had no idea of what was happening until it was too late. Something huge and metallic had bowled into him with tremendous force, ending his attack early and sending him soaring past his target.

Galacta Knight landed quite a stretch away from his foes, tumbling end-over-end before slamming into a rock. He got to his feet, trying to shake the dizziness away.

Fine. I stalled them, at least. I have a greater goal to accomplish. Eyeing his opponents warily, he felt his wing. The pain was fading, and he only needed to get away from the beach.

Without a word, he flew off in search of his comrades.

Gohan watched as the creature was flung around by his allies. Seeing as it was injured, and Gohan had just increased his power and speed tenfold, he figured he'd follow and finish the job. He crouched down, just to start flying the next second. Airborne, Gohan easily caught up to the creature.

---------

Jim watched as his new friends pummeled the tiny being. Hearing the Charmeleon's remark, Jim quickly answered. "Thanks, it was nothing." he spoke, noticing that the small thing was getting away, the blonde-haired boy right behind. Oh no, I'm not letting you finish it off he though, he and his clones charging forward in the metal guy's direction. He charged up a SolarBeam along with his clones, all five beams heading right for the enemy.
