Arena: Gew's Tears

Massive clouds stretch as far as the eye can see and further. Torrential rains assault the rough rock ground and everything on it, and lightning often flashes, bringing resounding thunder along with it. Small streams and rivulets flow quite quickly toward larger pools. The air is also humid, if anyone can even tell after the one second it takes to be thoroughly soaked.

The battle itself takes place in what appears to be a very shallow, but large pool; to one side, there is merely wet rock and the save rivulets of water, and on the other, the rest of the large, irregularly-shaped pool. Unseen, beneath the water, there are cracks and fissures where the water is extremely deep, but even the largest fissures are small enough for an average human to step over.

All weather moves are ineffective; the clouds cannot be moved, there is no sand, and the air is too warm for hail. The warmth means any ice move's effects (beyond damage) cannot last beyond an action, and freezing is impossible. Otherwise, the rain's effects on battle act as a normal rainstorm, and can go on seemingly forever.

I'll be sending her out on one of the wet rocks, yeah. Canon shouldn't be able to reach you there with any contact attacks, heh.

Alright, Clide. You're faster, so start off with a Substitute for %15 percent of your health. Then go ahead and Captivate for the rest of the round.

If, however, Canon uses a Charge Beam, Mimic it and use it. If Captivate doesn't work for some reason, switch to Amnesia.

Bullet Seed the entire round, but if on the final action the Substitute is gone, Haze away Clide's Captivates and/or Amnesias.

“It’s raining, it’s pouring
The old ref is snoring
It reffed a match and drowned to death
And couldn’t get paid next morning.”

Luckily for Whivit and Walker, the roar of the giant raindrops smacking the ground drowns out the hideously butchered song as they carefully make their way across the slippery rock to their designated areas, with the parties declared and attack order already decided. Walker’s foot suddenly slides under him as he takes another step, bringing him down to the ground and likely bruising a leg – luckily for him, the slipperiness also means it’s not rough enough to scrape the skin off. Still, it hurts, not helped by the frigid raindrops assaulting every exposed part of him.

Still, he’s already decided what pokémon he’s going to send out, likely having known he’d use this pokémon ever since the arena was revealed. He plucks a pokéball from his belt and tosses it into the water, where it bursts open and spits out a remoraid.

Whivit has found her place without incident (having been crawling because she could), and tosses her own pokéball onto the ground between the trainers, wearing a slight smirk. Then she screams out her orders, even louder than in most battles, needing to speak at the top of her voice to overcome the rain. Walker does the same, his orders just as simple as Whivit’s by necessity – long paragraphs would wear out their throats long before the battle was over.

.: Actions :.

Though surely more water is the last thing anyone needs here, Clide seems to think otherwise. She opens her mouth, and blows out a strange, poliwag-shaped bubble slightly smaller than she is. Lips still attached to the bubble’s tail, she then pours in water, which quickly fills up the inside of the bubble – much like the rain that just bounces off the bubble, somehow the water doesn’t burst out. When the bubble is finally filled, she spits out the tail, and the doll-like figure seems to solidify and gain Clide’s colouring.

Cannon watches this from the pool, bobbing up and down in the water. He scoffs, thinking that a bubble should be fairly easy to burst open, and opens his mouth to spit out a burst of several seeds that just bounce off the doll’s skin. He spits out a few more, but once again they do nothing. He frowns. He thought it would’ve been a lot easier.

Clide walks over to the edge of the pool, smiling and striking a pose to make herself look as cute and beautiful as possible. Though the dreary weather wouldn’t usually enhance her appearance, both water-types love the rain, and it only serves to complement her. Cannon can’t help but notice her soft pink lips, beautiful blue body, and the hypnotic black spiral on her stomach. Even her feet are adorable! He shakes himself, trying to get his mind back on task. Now that he noticed her beauty, he can’t just ignore it, but he tries anyway. He coughs up several tiny black seeds, holding them in his mouth, then aims and spits several out at her. The substitute leaps in the way, but he has more where that came from – he spits out another burst, and another, and another. Each stream of seeds just bounces off the doll, but Cannon is pleased to note that the substitute shows signs of wear – cracks have appeared on its surface, tiny though they may be.

Clide pouts, striking a different pose. She’s not uncomfortable doing this, knowing that there’s no shame in doing what she can to win a battle. Cannon nearly chokes on the next few seeds he was ready to cough into his mouth – her allure is impossible to resist, and he keeps looking and admiring when he should be attacking. He has no problem focusing on her, but it’s very much the wrong way.

It’s probably a good thing that it’s so easy to perform the attack, then. He spits out two successive bursts of seeds, which strike the substitute and bounce off. However, the cracks are definitely more pronounced, enough for some of the water to start leaking out.

Open up with a Bullet Seed, it should break the sub, but just in case it doesn't, use it again next action. If you can't use Bullet Seed for any reason, replace it with Haze once, and if you couldn't use it because it was Disabled, replace the second one with Rock Blast. If on the last action your Special Attack is not lowered, use Charge Beam, otherwise use Toxic. If Clide Protects that action, chill.

Alright, Clide, jump off that rock and into the water. Since that shouldn't count as an action, follow it up with a Lovely Kiss. Do this once more if he isn't asleep; if he is, stay close and use a Toxic; use this on the third action instead if you had to Lovely Kiss twice. Finish with a direct-to-mind Psychic if you have the time.

.: Actions :.

Clide hops into the water, smiling at Cannon as she swims toward him. She winks, leaning over to him and puckering her bright pink lips. He freezes in place, totally paralysed, unable to believe that this is really happening – he’s probably just being too hopeful, because even with her flirting she can’t really be that interested in him. But it seems it is. She closes her eyes and brushes her soft lips against the side of his mouth. He, too, closes his eyes, ignorant of the pink kiss-mark filled with chemicals that are seeping through his skin.

When he doesn’t open his eyes, Clide kicks away from him. She wipes off the rest of the chemicals on her substitute, then turns back to Cannon and prepares more chemicals, though this time they’re significantly more dangerous. Various toxins that she’s absorbed over time, as well as extra wastes from within her body and a little water, gather in her throat. She gags, some of the liquid coming out and leaving the taste on her tongue, then opens her mouth and spews dark purple sludge all over Cannon’s body. The half above the water is coated with the horrible poison, seeping slowly into his skin much like the lip-chemicals did. Cannon twitches, barely able to feel the discomfort. Around him, the dark poison spreads outward.

Clide eyes the dark patch around Cannon, but it’s spreading slowly enough – she can avoid it easily, and if not, it will not hinder her. She instead focuses on Cannon, reaching out to him with her mind. She feels herself become one with him, slipping into his head. Vague visions, fragments of his dreams, appear before her eyes – all illusions, she knows, and spreads her psychic power to shred through them and wreak havoc in his mind.

Cannon thrashes in the water, splashing the purple water everywhere, until finally Clide withdraws back into her own mind. His splashes subside and his eyes snap open, and he takes in a deep gulp of water—

—only to gag as the poison flows over his tongue. And he’s covered in it, too! What the hell…

…and he has to use it himself, which will also require it going through his mouth. Well, might as well get it over with… although he doesn’t really want to spit it all over Clide, though it might be easier to think if she’s covered in the poison. He chances a glance at her, noticing she seems vaguely unhappy, but just coughs up the poison anyway. Much like Clide had done earlier, he spews out a stream of a dark purple liquid, but Clide disappears and is replaced with the beat-up poliwag doll. The poison strikes the water, sending splashes all over the substitute, and forming another dark patch that slowly starts to spread.

Alright, Clide. I don't fancy getting poisoned, so head away from those toxic puddles as fast as you can, mmkay... try to hide behind a rock or something, but don't waste too much effort on that, it isn't really important that Cannon doesn't find you. Just get away from the toxic puddles, and for the remainder of that action, absorb water and chill (if you can do those simultaneously without it being an actual combo); otherwise just chill.

Then, assuming Cannon has found you, Substitute if yours is dead or Body Slam if it's still there. Again, if Cannon uses Charge Beam, mimic and use it.

Absorb water + Chill / Chill / Mimic ~ Substitute (10%) / Body Slam / Mimic x2

First, Dive under the toxic pools- try to get it so that Clide has to go through the puddles to Body Slam you. Follow up with a Bullet Seed if you see Clide, otherwise Protect while Clide tries to Body Slam you, only to (hopefully :D; ) get poisoned by the water above. End it off with one last Bullet Seed, since if you could see Clide to use it last round, one would assume you can do it again, and if Clide Body Slammed, she's not likely out of sight by now.

.: Actions :.

Clide kicks herself away from the patch of poison, knowing already that there are no rocks for her to hide behind. When she feels she’s a safe distance from the poison, she stops and relaxes. Despite not being very tired, she knows the importance of taking time out of a more hectic battle to refresh herself and prepare for the rest of the battle. Cannon watches her swim away from him, feeling slightly glum, especially when the substitute follows her and puts itself between the two water-types. She’s probably out of his league, anyway. He dives through the poisonous water and pulls up just under the poison. He’s not worried about how it’s sinking slowly toward him, knowing that it’s already too late since he’s covered in the liquid, but he still doesn’t like it.

Finished with her chilling and meditation, Clide returns to the outside world, although she sees no Cannon. Not a problem, as she’s seen where he last was, but she doesn’t wish to search through the poisonous areas. She is to attack, though, as far as she can tell, and reminds herself that her personal desires are not what are important. She submerges herself, easily finding Cannon just waiting for her under the very poison she wants to avoid. Or perhaps not exactly under – it’s slowly starting to surround Cannon. There’s really no choice, so she doesn’t bother trying to avoid it (much). Kicking as powerfully as she can, she swims toward Cannon and tackles him – but instead, she bounces off a hardly-visible shield and into the midst of the Toxic.

Though she purposefully avoids swallowing any, she can feel some of the chemicals seeping in through her skin – or maybe it’s just her imagination, because she knows it’s all around her. She’s starting to feel ill, at any rate, although it could only be worse if she did swallow it.

Cannon stares up at her, barely able to see her through the poison. He doesn’t quite expect it when she slams into him from above, bouncing up into the darkness again, and he is thrown down a foot, lightly hitting the stone beneath him. He glances down at it, mildly surprised it was so close, then looks up. Somewhat predictably, Clide reveals herself under the poison, not wanting to swallow anything but still needing to breathe. He aims at her, seeds forming in his mouth, then spits them out at her in four bursts. The cracked substitute suddenly appears in front of her, easily taking the first two bursts of seeds – though every seed causes larger cracks, the water slows them down. On the third burst, however, the substitute explodes into water, instantly vanishing, and the fourth strikes Clide’s stomach and bounces off.

Secreting a sticky liquid from her lips, Clide swims over to Cannon and kisses him again by the side of his mouth. He looks at her in surprise, and she just gives him a mischievous smile, drifting away from him and letting the kiss do its own work. Cannon’s mind slowly shuts down, forcing him to sleep, and he limply sinks toward the stone beneath him. He relaxes, only half-voluntarily, as he dreams of Clide and Cannon interacting outside of battle.

Clide swims farther from shore, knowing that it’s the best place to get away from the polluted water, with a lot more open space to swim in should the poison follow her somehow. She reaches a suitable area fairly quickly, and closes her eyes and focuses on her body. She mentally reaches within herself, taking control of her healing. Her body glows white, and she collects all of the poison within her and carries it in water to her skin, then dilutes and pushes the vaguely poisonous water out of her body rather forcefully. Then she opens her eyes, glow fading, and stares at the poisonous clouds. She can’t really see Cannon through the poison, but she has a vague idea of where he is, still relaxing beneath the poison that’s nearly reached him, despite how he’s incapable of getting any lower.

That’s enough for her to find him. She concentrates once more, but on the outside world rather than within herself. Her mind extends, reaching toward where Cannon is, sweeping beneath the poisonous cloud before reaching him. Then she digs her mind into his, sending pure pain through his body and roughly disrupting his peaceful dream. He twitches under the assault, suddenly brought back into consciousness. With a content smile, Clide returns to her own body and waits for him to recover.

Cannon, still uneasy, looks toward Clide. He can tell where the attack came from, and whose mind connected with his, and he wants to do something about it no matter how pretty Clide looks or how sweet her kisses are. He speeds toward her, angry thoughts growing in his head – he’s sick of her being all sweet and pretty and then suddenly hurting him, so he’s not hesitant about attacking her. The poison’s making him feel sick, and he suspects that it’s her fault – and even if it isn’t, she’s obviously not feeling it as badly as he is. He tackles her, slams her with his tail, rams into her again, and again, and thrashes her stomach. Clide winces, though she takes the assault as bravely as she can, not allowing her pain to overcome her. When he finally releases her, taking in deep gulps of water and still glaring, she just gazes at him calmly. Yes, it hurts, but he’s in pain as well, as it should be.

Dig underground and chill. If Cannon follows you, dig back up and chill there; he shouldn't be able to follow you up without... hands or feet.

Dig ~ Dig / chill x2

Okay, I assume that when e says to dig underground that e means to dig underground in the pool. If so, swim over Clide's hole (don't go in!) and spit a nice big glob of Toxic down into it; try to give it some force so that it gets as deep as possible. If Whivit means to dig out on dry land then... I don't see how Clide intends to do that, seeing as dry land for this place means 'a bunch of rocks only slightly less wet than the pool,' and I really doubt that a Poliwag can dig into those. If she does that though, poke your head out of the water and fire a Bullet Seed at her.

Next, if Clide's underground, chill. Otherwise, Bullet Seed if she's on the rocks, and Facade if she's out of her underwater hole for whatever reason.

She swims to the ground, then pushes against it with her head and spins in an attempt to drill through it. The mud lets her through, a poliwag-sized hole left behind as she digs down until she bounces off rock, roughly five feet below the surface of the dirt. Cannon, above, lowers himself so his nose just dips into the hole, peering into the darkness. Nausea suddenly rises in him, and he feels like he has to vomit, as if all of the toxins in his body are pouring into his throat at this very moment. Alright, so all of that is normal enough for what he’s going to do next – except the nausea. Ignoring it, Cannon vomits the dark poison into the darker hole, which only slowly sinks down through the water despite the force he spat it out with, though not as slowly as the poison closer to shore.

Clide looks up as the limited light suddenly dims, and notes a dark shape coming toward her and spreading to fill the entire tunnel. She has a slight moment of panic, but then calms down and sits at the end of the tunnel, leaning against the wall at the very end. She stares up at the dark shape, just breathing calmly and relaxing. Even as the poison envelops her, she continues taking in water with only a momentary pause. She can’t feel the poison entering her yet, but she knows that it is, being shrouded in darkness and tasting it and feeling the light prickles on her eyes and skin. She does close her eyes to protect them for now, knowing she won’t need to use them and there’s no point in letting them get damaged.

Cannon pulls away from the hole, staying near the ground and also relaxing. He’s not tired at all, just a little sick, so breathing in the clean water and doing nothing does help the feeling a bit, if not the damage done to his body.

Both just continue to chill and do nothing, although Cannon is starting to feel a little restless and Clide feels just a little ill – the poison is starting to take effect. It’s far from intolerable, although she hopes to leave this poison soon. The poison itself is no big deal, and won’t last long if she doesn’t want it to – hasn’t she already proven that?
