Blackthorne Steele vs Alraunne

Hmm...

Well guys, just keep alive and do some nickel-and-diming while you're at it.

Go ahead and Protect against that pitiful Attract. You're to good for him anyway. Next, go ahead and Will-o-Wisp 'im. After that, just give him a bit of a migrane with Psychic.

And Mirror. Who is doing bad. I suggest you throw a coupla Psychics at him first. You'll be next to dead after that, so I'd Chill.

Arena: Port Town Square

This quaint town by the sea has an old Italian feel. In the center of its residential area is a beautiful square of medium-large size, complete with a round fountain in its center. The square is enclosed by buildings of about three stories, mostly inns and apartments. There are streetlamps extending from the walls into the square and many windows with flowerboxes where birds like to perch. Residents will sometimes stop as they pass their window to watch the battle below, as light battles in he square are commonplace.

Other: Moves which involve direct contact with the ground (Dig, Ingrain, etc.) cost 5% more energy to use, due to the ground being beneath the paved and tiled square.
"Destructive moves" are restricted due to the public area, so as not to damage surrounding buildings too badly. Here, moves with the base power of 100 or higher are considered destructive.
Battle is restricted to the square- no running into the streets or the ocean!
Due to the limited size of the square, your two Pokemon cannot reach a combined height of over 30'.

Round 17

Still hidden within the thick haze cloud, Rift creates a shining green dome of pure energy around herself. The dome prevents any further haze from washing over her, for all the good it does; she still cannot see beyond the dome, where the haze still roams free.

Knowing he would be unable to harm Rift no matter what he does now, Boo decides to target Mirror instead. He ignites a fire on one of his severed hands and launches it through the smoke, however it hits no target before the Haunter feels the haze-free air against his hand and realizes he should have stuck by now, and so he pulls back his hand to his body. Mirror has no better luck as he sends a pulse of psychic energy into the cloud, which soars through effortlessly.

This time, Boo focuses towards Rift. Not that focusing is too necessary with the attack he is about to use. The Haunter gathers ghostly energy in his opposite fist, and then hurls it through the smoke, guided again by shadows, and punches Rift easily. The Gastly cries out in surprise, but now at least she knows where Boo is hiding. She creates an eerie blue flame in front of her, and then blows it away into the haze. The ghostly fireball follows the path of Boo’s disembodied hand, until it connects with Boo herself, exploding on contact and leaving a nasty burn on the Haunter’s left hand. Mirror again sends a psychic wave through the smoke. This time, by sheer luck, the psychic attack connects with Boo, and the pain causes Boo to screech in agony.

In response, Boo gathers ghostly energy in his palm again. Aiming for Rift a second time, he lets his left hand fly through the black cloud, which is slowly beginning to clear now, until the shadowy hand rams into Rift’s armored body. Rift attempts to respond with a psychic attack of her own, using the same strategy as last move, but Boo has apparently caught on, and the psychic energy passes through the cloud harmlessly. Mirror, meanwhile, makes no effort to attack again, content to float lazily and allow some energy to return to him.

Arena Notes
-The pavement is cracked and torn a bit from where Slayer called up boulders, and most of the square is still wet with rainwater. Also, the fountain has partially shattered from Tock’s Shadow Ball. There is also a column of rocks somewhere in the middle of the smoke where Mirror’s Rock Tomb came up.
-A thick cloud of haze is lingering in the square, dampening any stat changes and hindering the Pokémon’s vision.
-The speed order next round is: Boo, Rift, Mirror.

Round 17 Notes
-I’m so, so, SO sorry about the delay with this reffing… I’ve been writing for the last few days, only checking my subscriptions but this battle never showed up… Also I’m sorry if the writing is slightly rushed, I wanted to get this up as soon as I could, and there’s one of Florida’s daily summertime thunderstorms about to strike here, so I sorta rushed. I don’t think it impacted the writing too severely, though.
-Anyways, both Boo’s and Mirror’s action 1 attacks missed.
-Boo’s Shadow Punch on action 3 was a crit.
-Rift’s Psychic missed.

A crit, eh? Lucky little *Insert swear here*.

Well. Not much we can do but hope we kill. D: First off, go ahead and Shadow Ball if you know precisely where Boo is; if not, just Chill. If Boo can see you clearly, Hypnosis. Chill if he Protects.

Simple. We just Rest, and talk in our sleep. If you get taunted, go ahead and give the little wisp another taste of Psychic. If he Protects after he taunted, just, uh... Charge Beam a nearby rock. :O

God, this is getting tense.

Oh, you didn't say that I attack first, either, but I knew I did. And I'm not the only one with thunderstorms! :D

Hm...

Boo, uh... just kind of vaguely float around and don't stay in the same place, okay? Like playing a FPS! But it's okay if you get hit once or twice. All that tormenting and taunting will probably give your location away.

Round 18

The thick, smoky haze slowly begins to fade away as Boo begins hurling insults at Mirror, adding further to the insults from earlier. This time, however, the Bronzor is flung into a fit of rage rather than feeling dejected. Mirror’s partner Rift attempts to gage where Boo’s voice is coming from, but for the moment, she does not seem confident that she could strike successfully, and so she simply floats lazily in the air while Mirror does the dirty work. The floating steel disc sends an angry pulse of psychic energy into the smoke, aimed at Boo’s voice, which responds with another strange laughing scream.

When the screaming fades, Boo begins his relentless stream of insults, this time directing them at Rift, once again mocking her armor. The Gastly can’t help but feel slightly silly, being insulted by her evolved form and all. In a desperate attempt to shut him up, she gathers a dark ball of ghostly energy in front of her and tosses it in the direction of Boo’s voice. Again, Boo begins to screech, slightly boosting Rift’s mood as the attack scores a hit. Mirror, however, is not so lucky; being tormented, he feels no desire to repeat his attack, and instead simply aims an electrical beam into the smoke. The attack causes a small explosion somewhere in the middle, and some rocks are flung about.

Boo is now not feeling very well, and has a strange feeling of dread as he finally notices the slight thinning of the haze. He gathers up his courage, however, as well as a fistful of shadows. As before, he allows his fist to fly through the air, as if magnetically attracted to Rift. The shadowy energy slices through the Gastly, who lets out a whine of protest. Similarly to Mirror, although Rift is confident that she can send a counterattack behind Boo’s disembodied hand, she has no desire to repeat her Shadow Ball, and instead allows herself to resume her lazy floating. Meanwhile, Mirror launches another psychic pulse into the smoke. Boo remains silent, however, and Mirror sighs as the realization of the missed attack dawns on him.

Round 18 Notes
-Hm. At least you were aware of the attacking pattern. I hate when I forget that.
-Both of Mirror’s Psychic attacks lowered Boo’s special defense… but since they were still in the haze, that didn’t really matter. Oh, and the second one missed anyway.
-Boo hit the damage cap on action 2, after Rift’s Shadow Ball, performed because Chilling was blocked by Torment.
-Likewise, Mirror couldn’t use Psychic on action 2 due to Torment, and instead switched to Charge Beam, aimed at rocks as requested.
-Mirror’s Taunt wore off after action 3, which is why it isn’t recorded. It lasted all round, though.
-I haven’t gotten paid for this at all yet. I can’t wait for paychecks. Cue greedy grin.
-Team Al is to attack first.

Round 19

Though he’s beginning to panic, Boo refuses to go down without a fight. He ignites a fire in his fist again and launches his claw in the general direction of the last psychic wave. The punch manages to land, and the powerful blow further agitates Mirror’s burn. Eager to end the battle, Rift gathers another shadowy orb in front of herself. Once it approaches a decent size, she hurls the orb through the smoke. This time, Haunter screams, no trace of laughter in his voice, as the attack explodes upon contact. Somewhere in the distance, Mirror mentally smirks, and attempts to harden his body to protect against further physical abuse, however the numbing effect of the haze, while diminishing, still lingers.

With his other fist, Boo gathers ghostly energy, struggling slightly in his exhaustion, and allows the shadows to guide his ghostly hand until it rakes across Mirror’s body again. Similarly, Rift gathers more of that same ghostly energy and condenses it into a ball again. She lets the ball of energy fly, but this time, the attack does not scratch Boo. Meanwhile, Mirror prepares his own counterattack. He first charges silver light in his body, which he lets loose and immediately takes control of with his psychic powers. The psychic-guided ball of steely light soars through the smoke. Whether due to Mirror’s steering or the thinning smoke, the attack strikes true, exploding in a flash of blue and silver light. When the light fades, Boo can be seen collapsed unconscious under the smoke cloud.
