This quaint town by the sea has an old Italian feel. In the center of its residential area is a beautiful square of medium-large size, complete with a round fountain in its center. Round 5

Carrie trots back into the square; after all, she has to be seen for her next move to work. She walks up right behind Tock and taps him with her nose. Tock jumps, surprised, and turns around. Carrie tries her best to look cute and innocent, an act that Tock completely falls for. Carrie walks cutely back towards her trainer, Substitute trailing her the whole way, and turns to give Tock another wink, but her attention is caught by Astrid. The Alrunnik seems to be flaunting just as well as Carrie just had, but it proves to be less than effective.

Slayer, sickened by all the love crap, starts shouting insults at Tock, mostly on the subject of his falling in love with Carrie. Tock is enraged by the very thought of not having a chance with the Cyndaquil. He angrily launches himself into the air, glowing a rather darker purple than before, and flies straight at Slayer. Tock keeps flying even after he rams into the Larvitar, only retreating as he approaches the nearby fountain, to which Slayer is rammed into.

Astrid hears the noise and wakes up, seeing Slayer struggling to stand up. Assuming this must have been Tock’s work, she begins to cheer for her teammate again. Tock is flattered, and can already feel his confidence rising. Carrie, meanwhile, once again sends a psychic wave towards Astrid. This time the wave enters her mind, having to protector to absorb it, and Astrid’s cries of glee quickly turn to shouts of agony as the psychic energy bombards her mind again. Carrie can slowly feel herself learning to control this psychic power, but is still rather incapable of sustaining it for too long, and breaks the connection after a little while.

Unnoticed by his opponents, Slayer begins to mold a likeness of himself out of the remains of one of the boulders from his earlier attack. Upon its completion, he breathes a small amount of dark energy into the rocky statue, which then springs to life as the earlier substitutes had. Tock manages to tear his eyes away from Carrie upon realizing that Slayer had been left unchecked, and now sees the two Larvitar. Using that confidence boost, he again takes on a purple glow as he hurls himself towards the pair. Slayer’s Substitute steps in front of its master to absorb the blow, but Tock manages to completely shatter it, flying right through as if it weren’t even there.

Angrily, Slayer, barely conscious at this point, manages to create a shimmering green energy bubble around himself. Beside him, Carrie has already done the same around both herself and her fiery protector. Astrid, seeing the green dome around Slayer, charges instead at Carrie with her tail glowing silver, though she already suspects it is useless. She never finds out, however. She leaps up and spins to strike with her tail, but she overestimates her leap and her tail slams into the pavement behind Carrie. Tock, meanwhile, is shocked that Astrid would try to harm his poor, precious Carrie. Look at her, hiding scared under that green bubble. Tock simply stares with longing at the little echidna, pausing only to issue an angry hoot at Astrid as she returns to her original position.

Arena Notes
-The pavement is cracked and torn a bit from where Slayer called up boulders from last round.

Round 5 Notes
-So I forgot to note Slayer’s Liechi berry activating last round, but it wouldn’t have changed anything for either round.
-Astrid’s Sleep Talk rolled Attract, after a few turns of moves that she couldn’t learn, and randomly targeted Carrie, and therefore was ineffective.
-Tock’s taunt wore off after action 3 (since it only lasts for a set 3 actions).
-Tock’s first Façade was a critical.
-Astrid woke up on the second action.
-Slayer’s Substitute was destroyed on the same action it was created, thanks to the boost from Helping Hand.
-Astrid’s Iron Tail missed, not that it would have mattered much.
-Tock was too attracted on action 3 to attack.
-Team Steele attacks next.

*Ahem* The cap was thirty. Slayer took thirty-one. [/Biggest nitpicker ever]

Well, Carrie, you're doing great! Now show that little mammal she does not have any chance of having you! Throw her mind off-course by spamming Extrasensory! Chill if she Protects, and if you're taunted while she Protects, just Quick Attack Tock.

Round 6

In a last-ditch effort to save her partner, Carrie desperately attempts another psychic assault on Astrid’s mind. The Alrunnik, who had stood up and been about to charge, stopped and let out another squeal of agony. This time seemed particularly painful and unexpected, actually causing Astrid to sink low to the ground and cover her head with her paws. Slayer, grateful for his luck, curls up on the ground, coated in a blue light, and quickly falls asleep, his body immediately showing signs of improvement. Tock, meanwhile, flaps his tiny wings again, causing another breeze to kick up from behind.

Using the wind to assist her, Astrid forces herself to her feet and glares at Carrie, thinking let’s just see how she likes her mind being invaded! And invade it she does. Carrie seems frozen as Astrid searches her mind for the source of her psychic abilities. After a few seconds, Astrid finds the power she was looking for, and psychically shuts them down before quickly retreating to her own mind. Angry about the intrusion, Carrie attempts to throw another psychic wave at Astrid, but is unable to force her psychic powers outward.

Slayer, meanwhile, begins to mumble in his sleep. Soon enough, the mumbling forms into actual coherent words (at least, to the Pokémon), which catches Astrid’s attention. The Larvitar seems to be discussing himself, and actually stands up and flexes once before collapsing on his back again. Astrid herself actually finds herself watching Slayer with interest, and somehow can’t help but agree with him. Tock, meanwhile, is busy staring longingly at Carrie once again.

Content with watching Slayer, Astrid settles down and relaxes, allowing her body to rest for a while. Carrie, meanwhile, continues attempting to throw psychic waves at Astrid, to no avail.

Slayer begins to mumble in his sleep again. This time, he stands up and charges towards Tock, tiny fist raised. He delivers a quick series of punches before collapsing back on the ground. Tock flutters back into place, but Slayer no longer seems to be moving. Seeing that he is no more longer sleeping but rather unconscious, he is declared KO’d and the round is ended on the spot.

Arena Notes
-The pavement is cracked and torn a bit from where Slayer called up boulders from last round. Also, Tailwind is in effect for Team Al (3 more actions). Yes Al, the attacking order was the same as last round, the way you described. However, with Tailwind and factoring in Slayer’s boosts, the order was Astrid, Carrie, Slayer, Tock. That obviously might change depending on who Steele sends out.

Round 6 Notes
-The A&A guide specifies Roost to heal health, not energy. On a personal note and for future reference, I agree with that (in regards to all similar direct recovery moves like Recover), because I find it hard to believe that a Pokémon can spend energy to recover energy.
-Carrie’s first Extrasensory caused Astrid to flinch.
-Since Carrie had no orders for Disable, she did nothing. Extrasensory is still disabled for another action.
-Slayer’s Sleep Talks rolled Captivate (randomly targeted Astrid) and Brick Break (randomly targeted Tock).
-Tock was too obsessed with Carrie to move on action 2.
-Slayer fainted on Action 3 from exhaustion. Sleep Talk + Rest’s healing drains a lot. He also fainted before Tock could move, and so he didn’t chill on action 3 either.
-The order goes: Team Steele sends out a replacement, and then Team Al attacks, followed by Team Steele.

eww! Bronzor are the worst! >:I

Astrid, I'm afraid you don't have much longer to be here, but go ahead and try to get some energy back. Your health is still half full but your energy is almost empty so we should attend to that somehow. After that we need to work away at Carrie's substitute! Fortunately for you, you know physical Poison moves! Poison Jab away at Carrie's substitute.

Tock, you're holding up pretty well too. Keep Facading Carrie.

If either of them use Double Team or some other buff move like that which is non-damaging, or Protect, take the chance to Chill.
When Carrie's substitute has been broken and she's been hit once without her substitute, change up and start attacking the Bronzor.

Steele recalls Slayer while mourning the Larvitar’s death (despite the fact that he hadn’t actually died) before picking a new pokéball and tossing it into the square, revealing Deadly Mirror of Deadliness (who shall henceforth be known as Mirror because typing his full name is a pain, and as a “he” because typing “it” all the time thoroughly annoys me), a Bronzor who looks just as eager to kill as his trainer is enthusiastic about the idea. Round 7

Actually, there’s a lot less springing than anticipated. Astrid feels her body starting to tire, and settles down for a rest, curling comfortably on the ground. Carrie runs in a tight circle for a few minutes, leaving behind four illusionary copies, all of which turn to face their opponents, along with Carrie’s Substitute. Tock, like Astrid, settles down for a rest, perching comfortably on the edge of the fountain and forcing her eyes off of Carrie. Only Mirror has any aggressive thoughts so far. He begins charging his body with electricity, which he gathers into the top ball on his head. He releases the energy at the resting Astrid in a focused beam. The Alrunnik whiles as her relaxation is interrupted by the surging electricity, though it only lasts for a short while. Mirror sparkles briefly, as some residual electrical energy strengthens him.

Astrid stands up and shakes off. Now ready to deliver some pain, she rushes toward the cluster of Cyndaquil, her tail already secreting poison. She skids to a stop and spins as she approaches, lashing her tail out at the nearest Cyndaquil, but the tail flies right through the copy, causing it to fade and Astrid to hiss in annoyance. Before she can retreat, her mind is once again bombarded by psychic energy. All of the Cyndaquil, barring the lifeless, flaming Substitute, seem to grin as Astrid cries out in pain.

Briefly forgetting his love for Carrie, Tock takes off from his fountain perch to assist his teammate, glowing purple. He swoops down upon one of the Cyndaquil, but his guess proves no better than Astrid’s, as another clone fades away. Nevertheless, his attempt seems to have stopped Carrie’s attack on Astrid’s mind.

With his opponents distracted, Mirror charges up more electricity. Carefully aiming as to not injure Carrie, he lets loose another beam of electricity. Again, Astrid lets out a wail as the energy pumps through her body. When it finally fades (leaving further sparks clinging to Mirror), Astrid struggles to stand and shakes off again. Not needing to run, Astrid swings her poison-coated tail at another Cyndaquil. Her luck hasn’t changed though, and the clone vanishes as its identity is revealed. This delay is enough for Carrie to send yet another painful psychic barrage at Astrid’s weary mind.

Tock can’t believe his love interest is showing so little concern for his partner. Wishing he could close his eyes, he swoops down upon the Cyndaquil squad, purple glow and all. This time, Carrie’s fiery Substitute forms a solid dome around the real Cyndaquil, which Tock was flying towards. The Hoothoot rams hard into the hot dome, unable to shatter it. Still, he notes as he flies back, his job was done, as Astrid no longer seems to be in pain. Also, the remaining copy seems to have faded, as the Substitute gave away the real Cyndaquil’s position.

None of this interests Mirror, however, who currently has a one-track mind. Again charging electricity, he fires a third beam from the top ball on his body, and again Astrid whines in protest as every cell in her body vibrates with electricity. In all the commotion, no one seems to notice the sudden lack of breeze in the area as the round draws to a close.

Arena Notes
-The pavement is cracked and torn a bit from where Slayer called up boulders from last round. Also, Tailwind from last round faded after action 3, so the speed order next round is: Carrie, Astrid, Tock, Mirror.

Round 7 Notes
-All three of Mirror’s charge beams boosted his special attack (wow, RNG is all-or-nothing today). However, since he targeted Astrid all round, those boosts didn’t factor in during damage calculations due to Unaware.
-Astrid’s Poison Jab and Tock’s Façade on action 2 each hit a clone.
-Astrid’s Poison Jab on action 3 also hit a clone, but Tock’s Façade would have scored a hit (barring Substitute), so Carrie’s remaining clone faded.
-Astrid technically didn’t hit the damage cap at all; she took exactly 30% this round.
-After doing two reffings back to back, I now know why doubles are often avoided. Still… I regret nothing!
-Team Steele attacks first.

Okay, guys, you're kickin' some ass out there! :D Keep it up!

Carrie, my beautiful flaming ecinda, we should probably kill Astrid. But first, we need to make sure that there are multiple you's out there. Keep a Double Team out there for kicks, then Extrasensory Astrid. Again. If you get Disabled, Flamethrower, if she Protects, Chill.

Hmm..... Stealth Rock unless you're taunted, in which case Psychic Astrid until she's K.O.'d, but if you're disabled, Charge Beam, then, if you have an action left, Iron Defense.

All three boosts. The RNG gods knew it was me who used the blood, it appears. :B

Round 8

As a Pokémon who secretly gets personal satisfaction out of being annoying (as any Pokémon owned by me at one point would), Carrie runs in a circle again, creating yet more illusionary copies to join her and her Substitute. Despite her heavy sigh, Astrid directs her attention not at the new posse, but instead at Mirror. Tired as she is, she vents some anger by tossing insults at Mirror, the kindest of those being something along the lines of “flying hockey puck”.

Unnoticed by the Bronzor, Tock uses his own psychic abilities to form a link between his mind and Mirror’s. Using this link, Tock copies Mirror’s physical and mental status; the Hoothoot hoots uncomfortably as he feels the residual electrical energy powering up his body. He is only too happy to break the link afterwards, though the electricity that now fuels him is still somewhat unsettling. Mirror himself, however, is enraged at Astrid, and sends a huge blue wave of psychic energy in her direction. The wave passes right through Astrid, who by now is used to psychic assaults, though is still unable to resist, and lets out a scream.

Carrie doesn’t hesitate to strike as Mirror’s attack leaves Astrid shaken. The Cyndaquil sends a pulse of psychic energy into the Alrunnik’s mind, causing her to shout out almost immediately. The double-whammy overwhelms her, and she finally crumples under the pressure of the constant assaults on her mind. And with that, the round comes to a close.

Arena Notes
-The pavement is cracked and torn a bit from where Slayer called up boulders.
-The speed order next round is: Astrid, Tock, Mirror. Of course, Astrid’s replacement will be factored in.

Round 8 Notes
-Quick round, so nothing really happened. Astrid’s Taunt succeeded, Carrie managed to get her clones, and Tock copied Mirror’s stat boosts before it ended.
-Yes Steele, you got lucky. Now that you've had your luck, I demand the use of that bloody RNG church.
-I see, Al, that you edited your commands while I was reffing (I love that "passion of a thousand suns" quote). I guess it's lucky for me that it doesn't change anything. :x
-Alraunne sends out, as well as attacking next round, since it would have been Team Al’s turn anyway.

I'll send out Eadgyth.

Eadgyth, simple set up here. If for some reason it's not sunny then use Aqua Tail instead. If your target uses Protect then Rock Polish.

Tock, just try to get rid of Carrie's sub and shadows again. If you manage to do that and still have an action, do a Psycho Shift. If she Protects then use Tailwind.

Eadgyth:
Stealth Rock ~ Flamethrower @ Bronzor/Aqua Tail @ Carrie/Rock Polish x2

Tock:
Sunny Day ~ Swift @ Carrie ~ Swift @ Carrie/Psycho Shift @ Carrie/Tailwind

...damn.

We're not in a favorable situation, guys.

Carrie, all you really should do is take a breather. You'll have enough health for a while, and we need the energy.

Mirror, go to war. Murder them, make them pay.
...okay, make just the uncooked omelet pay. :P Spam Psychic so we can cap him, at least.

Carrie:

Chill x3

Mirror:

Arena: Port Town Square

This quaint town by the sea has an old Italian feel. In the center of its residential area is a beautiful square of medium-large size, complete with a round fountain in its center. The square is enclosed by buildings of about three stories, mostly inns and apartments. There are streetlamps extending from the walls into the square and many windows with flowerboxes where birds like to perch. Residents will sometimes stop as they pass their window to watch the battle below, as light battles in he square are commonplace.

Other: Moves which involve direct contact with the ground (Dig, Ingrain, etc.) cost 5% more energy to use, due to the ground being beneath the paved and tiled square.
"Destructive moves" are restricted due to the public area, so as not to damage surrounding buildings too badly. Here, moves with the base power of 100 or higher are considered destructive.
Battle is restricted to the square- no running into the streets or the ocean!
Due to the limited size of the square, your two Pokemon cannot reach a combined height of over 30'.

Alraunne calls back Astrid, lamenting briefly over not being able to evolve her just yet, and calls forth a second rare Pokémon to take her place; a tiny creature inside a rock-hard shell known as a Dragomelet, this particular one named Eadgyth. The dragon happily balances her shell with her tail and peers out at her opponents, assessing her situation as the commands are given.

Round 9

Carrie is the first to respond to her commands, being the fastest Pokémon in the town’s little square. However, being protected as she is, she does nothing but curl up on the pavement and relax, allowing her energy to return to her. Tock, meanwhile, simply looks up at the sun he loathes so much, hating himself for the act he is about to perform. His eyes glow a bright orange as he gazes upwards, and the heat from the sun intensifies, as noticed by everyone on the battlefield.

Using the remains of the boulders from earlier, Eadgyth creates tiny rock fragments by retreating into her shell and rolling into them. Then, using her tail, she flings these rock fragments at both Carrie and Mirror, where they hover in midair, floating in circles around the two Pokémon. Mirror responds by sending a blue wave of psychic energy at the Dragomelet, causing her to roll backwards a few meters.

Carrie shows no signs of getting up, and so Tock prepares his next move. Out of his beak, he fires a barrage of tiny star-shaped energy bits. The stars home in on the real Carrie and are about to strike, however the remains of Carrie’s Substitute flares up and protects its master the only way it can; it forms a fiery dome surrounding Carrie, causing all of her clones to fade as the real Cyndaquil’s position is given away, and the energy-stars crash harmlessly against the fire, though after the barrage stops, the flames die out into nothing.

Meanwhile, Eadgyth and mirror are having their own personal battle. Using the boosting power of the intensified sun, the Dragomelet fires a stream of flame from inside her shell, scorching Mirror with intense heat. In response, Mirror lets out another blue psychic wave at the little dragon. Again, the psychic attack causes Eadgyth to roll a bit before she is able to right herself.

Still having no will to move, Carrie continues to rest. This suits Tock just fine. He’ll teach her a lesson for pretending to love him and then completely forgetting about him. And what better way to do that then the same way she tormented his partner? Using his psychic abilities, Tock invades Carrie’s mind, causing her to wince slightly. Tock then builds a psychic link between their minds and, using this link, psychically transfers the poison in his body to his victim. Carrie suddenly feels very ill as the link breaks.

Eadgyth props herself up with her tail before breathing out another stream of fire, which completely envelops Mirror. It takes several seconds before he can shake himself free and cool down, which is much more difficult due to the intense sunlight. Mirror angrily fires another psychic attack at the Dragomelet, rolling her back again before she is able to slow herself and regain her wobbly balance.

Round 10

Carrie yawns and stretches, feeling a bit more energetic after her brief rest. Eager to now cause some destruction, Carrie aims carefully at Tock and releases a mouthful of flames. Aided by the searing sun, the flamethrower burns Tock’s body and feathers as he hoots in discomfort, hastily hopping away from the stream. Tock responds by performing a strange ritual dance as he shakes off his feathers. The sky begins to darken considerably in reaction, thick black clouds shielding the town from the strong sunlight. It isn’t long before a heavy downpour starts, soaking the town and the battlers.

Eadgyth hides within her shell, not at all pleased with the rain. Nevertheless, she doesn’t allow that to stop her from her job. Her tail turns blue as she changes it to water, slightly uncomfortably, and takes off rolling in Carrie’s direction. However, the rain has already made the pavement somewhat slippery, and Eadgyth skids on a puddle and is flung off course, coming to rest just short of the fountain.

Mirror, meanwhile, does not seem to mind the rain. In fact, he doesn’t seem to mind anything right now. He has retreated into his mind, clearing it of all thoughts and allowing his energy to fill him up. So wrapped up in what he’s doing, he is completely unaware to anything going on around him.

Annoyed by the rain, Carrie sends another stream of fire at Tock. This one, though, looks considerably weaker, due to the heavy rainfall, and by the time it reaches Tock, while still quite painful, he is able to shake the fire off much easier. Tock then turns to Mirror, still floating peacefully. His eyes glow pink as he watches the blue disc, sending hypnotizing waves in his direction. Mirror, only too aware of how vulnerable he leaves himself in his relaxed state, opens his eyes to check his surroundings, only to me immediately drawn to a curious pink light ahead of him. His eyes begin to flicker as he decides resting a while longer isn’t such a bad idea after all…

Eadgyth begins rolling towards Carrie again, this time being more careful of the ground. Coming from the side this time, Carrie doesn’t notice until Eadgyth slams her watery tail into her with a splash, throwing her off balance. Eadgyth then begins rolling away in retreat before Carrie can right herself. Ignoring the Dragomelet altogether, she fires a third stream of fire at Tock, this one proving no stronger than the last. However, the attack strikes Tock in exactly the same spot as the last, leaving a strong stinging spot on Tock’s left wing where his feathers were completely burned away and his skin singed. Tock simply flies over to the earlier house’s flowerbox, with a bit of difficulty due to the rain and his burned wing, and rests there, hoping to restore some energy.

Meanwhile, Eadgyth takes off rolling again. Careful as to not slip but also a bit more speedier, she charges towards Carrie, who, in the rain, doesn’t have time to avoid the Dragomelet’s watery tail, and is thrown aside for the second time, covered in more water than she ever expected in this fight. She struggles to get up as the fire on her back is significantly reduced. Her partner, Mirror, doesn’t appear to be waking up any time soon, and so with that, the round comes to an end.

Arena Notes
-The pavement is cracked and torn a bit from where Slayer called up boulders.
-Rain Dance is in effect (2 more actions).
-The speed order next round is: Carrie, Tock, Eadgyth, Mirror.

Round 10 Notes
-By all means, complain if I got something wrong. When I was copying the active squads, you had nothing to note that Eadgyth was shiny besides the sprite, and since I didn’t want to waste time putting them all in the first post, I guess I forgot. ^^; Also, it’s not so much that I’m fast more than I have no life outside of this, but thanks, at least I’m contributing to someone else’s moods. XD
-And don’t worry about changing your mind either, Al, as long as I haven’t posted the round already. If you change commands while I’m in the middle of reffing and post it before realizing, that’d be my fault and I’ll go back and correct anything that needs it.
-Now that that’s been said… Solarbeam’s base power of 120 slots it under “destructive”, so Mirror switched to his alternate commands.
-Eadgyth’s first Aqua Tail missed.
-Carrie’s third Flamethrower left a burn on Tock’s left wing on action 3. While the rain is in effect, the burn is slightly soothed, and will cause slightly less damage per round until the rain fades.
-Carrie’s Blaze activated on action 3, after Eadgyth hit her. She also hit the damage cap that action due to the poison.
-Team Al attacks first.

Let's put that Cyndaquil away once for for all!

If Carrie uses Protect, Eadgyth, use Rock Polish instead. When the rain stops, start using Dragonbreath instead.

Tock, if that Bronzor Sleep Talks Protect or something crazy like that, just wait until the next action to try Psycho Shift again. Once you've Psycho Shifted, Psych Up his new buffs.
