Aries floated upwards to stare down at all five Growlithes, addressing them all at once but seeking to anger only one of them. Can’t even beat a grass-type without hiding within a bunch of clones? he sneered, swooping about overhead. The Cottonee even dared to dip in front of a few Growlithe muzzles, despite inwardly shrieking in fear. What a coward, what an incompetent fighter! Battle like a real Pokemon! Cainus found it tremendously ironic that a Cottonee, who were known to rely on their pranks and tricks, was telling him to fight for real. Nevertheless, he could not help but be goaded into a helpless rage.

Snarling in fury, Cainus completely disregarded his commands and launched himself at the Cottonee bobbing over his head. The five Growlithe closed in and began lashing and biting, though the attack was uncoordinated and barely effective. It didn’t take long for Aries to struggle and float away, hardly looking worse for wear, a mocking laugh bubbling from his throat.

Washibon took a moment to roll his eyes at his hot-headed partner, then hopping around the ruins, looking for a particularly rough rock. When he found one, the bird began to rub his talons against it, sharpening their deadly points. Washibon had just finished and was admiring his honed weapons when it felt like a boulder had landed between his shoulder blades. This boulder was, in fact, William’s head. Washibon was easily thrown to the ground, gasping as his stomach hit the floor harshly, William’s rock-hard head still pressing his spine. The poor Rufflet could barely squawk in pain. Just as Washibon thought his spine was about to break, William stood up rather shakily, blinking as if he had a headache. Whimpering, Washibon struggled to his feet and observed his new, ugly bruises.

After his previous failure of an attack, Cainus was determined to show Aries who was boss. That stupid plant was going to get fried. The Growlithe rapidly raised his body temperature until he was glowing a dangerous red and the air around him was distorted with heat. Sensing danger, Aries quickly hid his face behind his leaves while creating a shield before him. Cainus did not see the shimmering barrier until it was too late. With a roar he released the pent-up heat, only to watch it bounce harmlessly off of Aries’s Protect. Cainus roared again, this time out of sheer frustration.

Eager to put distance between himself and William’s rock-like head, Washibon took flight, wincing with each wingbeat as his bruised shoulders screamed in protest. Nevertheless, the Rufflet climbed higher, higher still, until the battlers were but ants on the pavement and meteors screamed uncomfortably close overhead.

William watched his adversary take to the skies, then shrugged. He’d just settle with beating up Cainus, instead. In place of electricity, a golden aura of fighting energy surrounded William’s fist. Tendrils of the glow reached greedily towards one of the Growlithe. By a miraculous stroke of luck, that Growlithe was the real one: when William dealt a solid punch to Cainus’s shoulder, he gave a yelp of pain and surprise. His concentration broken, the other clones abruptly disappeared. Tendrils from the golden aura seemed to dig into the dog’s skin, pulling life force from Cainus and transferring it to William. The Scraggy sighed in relief as his bruises lightened somewhat.

Cainus howled at his throbbing shoulder, then decided to take out his frustration on his preferred target: Aries. A snarl was bubbling in his throat when Aries began to shake itself, as if dislodging spores. Cainus was beyond livid at this point and decided to attack Aries anyway, despite explicit orders to Protect should any malady head his way. The Growlithe was panting in fury, so the Stun Spore was easily whisked into his lungs. Fighting off the sudden stiffening of his muscles, Cainus gave a throaty snarl. Aries shivered, the growl invoking within him a primal fear. The waves of chilling dark energy did nothing to alleviate the fears.

William created an impenetrable barrier in anticipation of a particularly dangerous attack. Washibon, however, noticed the greenish gleam of the shield, even eighty metres up in the air, and opted to stay airborne. Slightly frustrated, William let the unaccomplished shield fall.

Derpy attacks first next round.
Sorry, Derpy, by the time I saw your edited commands I was halfway done writing the round, so I went with your original commands.
Cainus struggled on the first action.

It's fine. I kept changing my mind so much I wasn't surprised. XD
Also, I am going to guess taunt wore off?

Uh, ok then. Aries, show that Growlithe your real pain with an endeavor, or try and aim an energy ball at Washibon if he protects. Then toxic Washibon, because status is cool. Then finish up with a leech seed on Canius. If taunted, attack with Facade instead.

Endeavor (at Canius)/Energy ball (at Washibon)~Toxic (Washibon)/Facade (Canius)~Leech seed (Canius)/Facade(Canius)

William, you might not be quick enough for this, but dig a hole anyway. :) Then pop up and attack Canius if Canius does not protect, if not bulk up and then pop out and attack Canius next round.

Dig~Resurface and attack Canius (uh, this is how dig works, right? ^^;)/Bulk up~Rock tomb (Washibon)/Resurface and attack Canius

For William's commads, it syas he's to pop up and attack Cainus next round, but its listed for a third action.

Mwahahaha hello there Mr. Loophole, nice to meet you.

Cainus, Protect. Thay will send an Energy Ball at Washibon, but that will be addressed later. Washibon will stay in the air, but Aries will still try to Toxic him because he wasn't given another conditional. So second action frees you up for a Safeguard. That should protect you from the Leech Seed. Third action, Protect.

Protect ~ Safeguard ~ Protect

Washibon, stay flying, dodging attacks aimed at you if they get close, then wait until the last possible moment, then attack William 3rd action if he's above the ground, if not, stay high.

Fly ~ Fly ~Fly@William/Stay Flying

What I meant was, dig, then pop up if you are able to do so. DX I guess it made sense in my mind when I wrote it. DX

No sooner had the referee waved her flags did Cainus throw himself on the ground, paws covering his head. Aries raised an eyebrow at the strange defensive stance, but he didn’t miss the faint shimmer around Cainus. It would be pointless to attack the Growlithe now… not that attacking Washibon was much better. The Rufflet was a mere speck in the sky.

Nevertheless, Aries tapped into reserves of natural energy drifting around him. There were far fewer in a city, but the Cottonee made do. Using these natural resources, Aries fashioned a ball of burbling green power. Squinting against the light of the sun and dragon fire-lit meteors, Aries threw the Energy Ball, but he could tell almost right away that it would not hit. As if sensing its creator’s thoughts, the attack cuts its pointless endeavor short and fizzled away.

In the sky, Washibon steadily pumped his wings. It was rather unnerving to be up so high, with the meteors streaking not two metres away from his head with dull, rumbling roars. One meteor attempted to pay the battlefield a visit, but merely crashed into the impenetrable barrier erected over ASB Central to keep it from further damage. Washibon flinched at the noise. It was strange for a flying-type to loathe the air, but at the moment the poor Rufflet just wanted to put distance between him and the hunks of space rock.

On the ground, William decided that there still was not enough space between him and the hunks of space rock. He deftly broke through the cement with solid strikes from his fists, then began to scoop earth out at an incredible rate. Soon, William disappeared from view and his progress could only be measured by the fading sound of digging and the growing pile of dirt next to the hole. When he was satisfied with the length of the tunnel, William made a little hollow for himself, so he could sit down without hitting his head on the ceiling.

Aries’s next command proved to be even more unlikely to work than the last. If he couldn’t hit Washibon with an Energy Ball, how was he expected to hit him with a glob of chunky, heavy sludge? Grumbling, Aries obediently gathered what waste chemicals he had in his body to create an awful-tasting paste that bubbled uncomfortably on his tongue. He spat it in Washibon’s general direction, but like expected the Toxic just dropped to the ground with a thick splat. Aries looked at the vile glob in disgust as it sizzled on the concrete.

Washibon sighed. Avoiding attacks by staying in the air was very fine, but couldn’t he at least be given something to do while airborne? Bored out of his mind, the bird flew in circles, then squawked in shock when another meteor banged against the energy barrier.

Cainus had had enough of barriers and shields and shiny defenses – he’d rather set Aries alight – but no, he had to construct another screen. Sighing, he once again threw pure energy into the air around him, though this time it was not compressed. The result was a shimmering veil of white. Two hundred metres in the air, Washibon was surrounded by a similar glow, appearing to the ground-locked battlers as a star in the greenish sky.

All of a sudden, Cainus felt the ground underneath his paws rumbling. The Growlithe only had time to blink in confusion before the earth underneath him erupted, sending dirt and bits of brick all over the place. Cainus coughed and sputtered, then yowled as he was tackled to the ground amidst a shower of debris. Struggling, he realized it was William who had bowled him over. With a mighty heave Cainus managed to shake the Scraggy off. William merely cackled as he landed lightly on his feet, while Cainus grimaced and inspected his side, which had taken the brunt of the hit.

Eager to avoid another hit like that, Cainus created the umpteenth Protect of the battle. Through the faint glow of the shield, he regarded his opponents warily, ready to reinforce the shield should a nasty attack be thrown at him… Aries, too distracted to notice the shield, rummaged about in his cottony exterior and pulled out several tiny seeds, which he tossed at Cainus. The dog tensed. Rather anticlimactically, the seeds merely bounced off the shield, rolling to a halt a moment later.

William squinted at the sky, trying to locate the speck that was Washibon. He finally spotted a dot that was flying in lazy figure-eights. How in the world was he supposed to hit that with a Rock Tomb? Shrugging, William focused on the ground and urged it to buckle and heave upwards. The earth obeyed, lifting itself to crush an invisible foe.

Upon seeing the completion of the attacks of the other three battlers, Washibon eagerly tucked his wings to his sides and swooped down, heading straight towards William. The Scraggy barely had time to turn around before Washibon’s beak slammed into him. William was smashed to the ground, sporting a new wound on his chest, while Washibon veered away and landed on the ground a little ways off.

While Aries eyed Cainus nervously, waiting for the dog to disappear down a quickly-dug tunnel, Washibon beat his wings at blinding speeds, propelling the little bird forward. He soon became a blue and white blur which shattered into five separate images, each indistinguishable from the original. The five Rufflet spread out in a line, all of them puffing their feathers up and giving menacing caws.

William did not seem intimidated by the sudden multiplication of his foe. Rather, he scoffed – did Washibon really think that was going to protect him? In a puff of dark energy, the Scraggy slipped into an alternate dimension, where all living things had a healthy glow that marked them from the shadowy undead that populated the realm. Here, Washibon’s clones were useless: they were but dull images that lacked the glow of the true Rufflet. Smirking, William took a position behind his opponent and returned to the real dimension, giving Washibon a tackle fizzing with darkness. Washibon fell over with a squawk of surprise, the other clones fading as he lost his concentration.

Meanwhile, Cainus had broken away some of the bricks on the ground much like William had, and was clawing at the earth underneath. Even as he dug, his mind whirled: was he supposed to stay in the ground, or was he supposed to attack? If so, attack who? In the end, he decided if he wasn’t given a target, he should simply stay underground. It didn’t sound like a bad idea, as he was starting to flag. Slowly but surely, a tunnel began to form at Cainus’s paws, sloping gently downwards and ending in a small chamber for the dog to curl up in.

Little did Cainus know that Aries was following him into his supposed sanctuary. The little cotton ball closed his eyes against the shower of dirt, instead using his sense of touch to guide him down the narrow tunnel.

At last, dirt stopped spraying Aries, and he dared to open his eyes. Cainus was turning in a little cavern just ahead, getting ready to relax, then stopping suddenly when he spotted his fluffy visitor. Taking advantage of the Growlithe’s surprise, Aries lunged forward with a roar, throwing himself against his opponent and madly thrashing his leaves around. One would not expect a ball of cotton to hit hard, but his blows, driven by desperation and an intense desire to win, were savage. Cainus could do little to fend off the furious Cottonee, and by the time Aries backed off, panting, he was covered with bruises and cuts. Whimpering, Cainus bared his teeth at Aries to tell him to stay away, then curled up for a fitful nap.

Like his partner, Washibon was attempting to rest, but he felt vulnerable without his clones to hide amongst. He could feel William watching him, a murderous glint in his eyes… Washibon ruffled his feathers and tried to loosen up – and then it felt like one of the meteors overhead had landed on him. In fact, it was William’s head yet again, reinforced with rock-type energy. It was not as big as a meteor, but it was just as hard and packed as much strength. Washibon was immediately crushed to the ground, the breath driven out of him, one wing splayed awkwardly as it was twisted and pinned down. Fiery pain lanced through the limb. It was little consolation to see William shake his head and blink in a dazed manner, as if the lizard was beginning to get brain damage.

Aries was feeling vindicated after letting off a great deal of steam on Cainus. He wasn’t really frustrated anymore… Nevertheless, he bounced up to the Growlithe and gave him a few sharp thwacks with his leaves. The sharp edges left cuts, but they were minor, as were the new bruises. Cainus just whimpered and continued his nap as best as he could – which wasn’t very well, as his muscles decided to stiffen and spasm. In particular, the muscles around his lungs and trachea tightened, making him cough uncomfortably.

Despite the feeling that his body was on fire, Washibon rested too, one wing drooping as if badly hurt. Maybe if he relaxed, it would heal quicker… But William was determined that Washibon would not nap in peace. The Scraggy drew a fist back, fingers dancing with a golden aura, then punched Washibon in the chest. With an indignant caw, the bird tumbled backwards. William’s headache lifted somewhat as the mystical glow around his fist transferred life energy between the two Pokemon. Meanwhile, Washibon seemed miserable. He didn’t even bother to stand back up; it was clear that his stamina was waning.

As if to accentuate the struggles of Wargle’s Pokemon, the Safeguard around them began to sputter. After a few moments, it groaned and collapsed on itself.

Wargle, I wasn’t sure what you wanted Cainus to do with Dig, though since there was no target I just had Cainus stay in the ground.
All Chills restored less energy than usual.
Head Smash rolled a good number during the accuracy check, so it damaged one of Washibon’s wings.
Frustration had 50BP since Aries had already vented the action before.

Not much. It's mostly to say that Washibon can no longer fly. Moves that require flying (e.g. Fly, Brave Bird, Sky Drop) may be reduced in power/prevented.

Washibon is still a flying-type. You can't detach your flying-type through any move other than Roost, iirc. All healing moves prioritize the most severe injuries - in this case the wing. On the other hand, direct healers are banned for this match.

I am so tired right now, but I am hopefully going to my boyfriend's for Christmas,so I am doing this now...it might be a bit exploitable...I dunno.

William: Well done! That head smash must have done a doozy on your head, but it was worth it! Still, it is time to finish the little fluffball off. Thunderpunch away! If tormented or anything, switch to payback.

Before Cainus could so much as bare his teeth at Aries, the little cotton ball was scampering off, scrambling at the walls of the tunnel with his leaves and using his limited flying abilities when necessary. Cainus watched him go. As much as he would like to torch Aries, he was told to rest. Without anyone else in his underground lair, maybe he’d get a proper nap. Sniffing a bit, Cainus scraped at the walls of the tunnel to make his cavern a bit larger, turned a few circles, then curled up to sleep.

Up on the surface, Washibon had used a bit of his energy to form an impenetrable shield around him. His injuries were really getting to him, and he was quite interested in avoiding William’s head and fists. William, however, did not see the glimmer of the Protect. Eagerly he lashed out with an electricity-laden fist, only to be stopped short mid-swing. He gave a cry of surprise and jerked his hand away, rubbing his sore knuckles. Washibon gave a little grin.

By now Aries was struggling out of the tunnel, shaking himself in disgust as he saw the dirt and dust lodged in his luxurious cotton. Quickly he shook out what he could, then hopped up and down on the spot, cheering wildly. Go William! he squeaked in his odd, whistly voice. Beat that Rufflet to a pulp! You can do it! Aries alternated between clapping his leaves together and pumping them in the air. As he jumped around, little bits of cotton scattered everywhere, resembling confetti. It was as if he was celebrating Washibon’s defeat early.

Heartened by his partner’s encouragement, William put his all into his next move. He gathered as much electricity around his fist as he could, then delivered a shattering punch in Washibon’s direction, praying that he would not be stopped by another barrier. His prayers were answered; Washibon was so exhausted with his previous efforts of keeping the Protect up that it had flickered away, and no amount of energy could cause it to rematerialize. With a bout of crackling, William’s fist connected with Washibon’s stomach, who squawked in pain and surprise as he was thrown harshly away. He lay there, immobile, as he regained his breath, but even when he was ready to stand up the Rufflet found that his muscles would not obey him. Washibon’s eyes widened in panic as he realized the effects of the electricity, this time, were lasting.

Aries was feeling joyful after he witnessed the effects his cheering had on William’s Thunderpunch. It was clear that Washibon was on his last legs; despite a rough start, they just might win! Aries happily bounced towards Washibon, eager to deal the final blow – only to be stopped short by the same barrier that had prevented William’s first Thunderpunch. Stunned, Aries rolled a bit on the ground before hopping upright again, now quite annoyed.

As if oblivious to Aries’ failure, William attacked Washibon as well with a familiar crackling fist. The attack was easily stopped by Washibon’s Protect; despite his best efforts, William could not push his fist through. The electricity leapt across the shield and dissipated. Behind the shield, Washibon cringed. It was extremely taxing to defend against such attacks repeatedly. A bead of sweat appeared on the bird’s brow as he realized he couldn’t keep it up much longer. Once the shield fell, he was done for.

Meanwhile, underground, Cainus had it easy. The Growlithe had been napping the entire round, unaware of his partner’s hopeless struggles. As a distant whistle marked the end of the round, he jumped to his feet, baring his teeth. He was brimming with energy and eager to burn Aries to a crisp.

Terrain notes
There is a patch of Toxic on the ground. There is a U-shaped tunnel dug into the earth, and not far from one of the openings, the earth has buckled. Another tunnel has been dug, this one sloping gently downwards and ending abruptly. Cainus is in this tunnel.

Final notes
Wargle attacks first next round.
The second Protect failed.
The second Thunderpunch paralyzed Washibon.
Easy rounds are fine once in a while, but then the amount of writing goes down so much I feel like I’m doing something wrong… :P

Shouldn't it be Wargle who attacks first this round? I attacked first last round. Sorry to nitpick. ^^;

Herp derp I should have seen that.

Washibon! Use Agility to get into Cainus's tunnel at all costs. Once there, chill. If someone is trying to attack you, Agility should get you past them.

Cainus! If someone is keeping Washibon from getting into the tunnel, flamethrower them. Once Washibon is in, guard him by standing near him and Flamethrowing, but not close enough to disturb him. If William tries to Dig into your tunnel, Dig to him and stop him.

Agility ~ Chill/Agility X2

Flamethrower/Dig X3

Sucks I know, but I'm too busy to care.

William, use dig to try and get to washibon. When/if you get there, use one thunderpunch and then chill.

Dig~Thunderpunch~Chill

Aries, jump down Washibon's tunnel. Then use return since you are in such a good mood. Chill afterwards.

Jump down tunnel~return~Chill
