Metallica Fanboy vs. Mawile

There is a rumbling from within the fissure, and a floor of water rises up to meet everyone, bringing with it some conveniently unbroken boats that the Trainers are quick to jump on. Equius manages to find his own, quickly acquainting himself with the water and learning to control it as Metallica Fanboy calls upon his aquatic companion, Warfare the Carvanha. The terrorous fish Pokemon swims around in circles, its twin dorsal fins breaking the surface menacingly.

Round 5

Warfare made the first move; twitching a fin, she began to unwittingly poke and prod at Equius' mind, suggesting that he's getting sleepy...very sleepy, actually...Equius shook his head and cleared his thoughts, unwilling to succumb to exhaustion quite yet. He gave his paw a retaliatory wave, and braced himself as he recognized the sensation of running rapidly forwards, even across the water, grabbing Warfare by the face and slamming her into what was left of the Coliseum's wall. Dazed and floating sideways, Warfare growled and righted herself as Equius returned to his watercraft, panting. She waggled her fin once more, and began to roll forwards, glowing green as she did so. She gained speed, faster and faster, and bypassed Equius completely, coming to a stop near the other wall.

Grinning, Equius wagged his fingers again, then was yanked forward to wrap his arms around Warfare, scraping himself on her tough scales. Ignoring the pain, the Metronome God willed his arms to squeeze as much life from the Carvanha as possible, and since she had plenty to spare it was quite the amount. Equius finally released the fish and rubbed his arms as his opponent waved her fin about once more.

A bright yellow glow enveloped Warfare, crackling with electric power as she sped towards Equius, leaping out of the water to knock him off of his tiny boat. An oar floated away lazily as a bolt of wild lightning surged through both battlers' bodies, taking its toll on each. A last burst of sparks threw the two away from each other, and Equius grabbed his head with one paw as he waved the other to summon his next attack.

He was lifted into the air. The entire world seemed to dim before the brilliant glow emanating from his form, as his head was filled with power, absolute power, and he directed it involuntarily at Warfare. The world flashed white, all Trainers shielding their eyes and Warfare praying to every god she could think of...and then the light cleared, and nothing at all had changed. Equius landed softly on his boat, and Warfare, looked around with wide eyes, trying to figure out exactly what the hell.

Round 6

Warfare twitched her fin, and words sprang unbidden into her mind and out of her jaws. "Nice job with that attack back there," she hissed. "You really got me--floated a little, oooo, scary. Watch out guys, we're dealing with a badass over here." A vein popped in Equius' head, and he practically slammed his paw through the air, waiting for something that would pound the fish into a sardine can. A thought entered his mind, but he couldn't make out what it was; Warfare's words echoed in his brain, blocking out the attack.

Smirking, Warfare wagged its fin again, this time summoning an upwards hail of sharp rocks from the bottom of the makeshift sea. The pieces of rubble floated towards Equius, contenting themselves to hang in midair around the Riolu, who eyed them curiously. Wagging his finger, Equius gathered up as many of the floating stones as he could, compacting them into two, three, four projectiles; he hefted them at his adversary, who deftly flitted out of the way, the rocks slamming into the water beside her and nearly throwing off her movements. Grinning with simple and primal malice, Warfare waggled her fin as Equius shook his paw.

Equius gave no though to his moving first, as he struck a karate stance and concentrated involuntarily. Stepping forward, he forced his palm outward, pulsing the air and shooting a green beam from his outstretched hand, which flew to strike Warfare in the eye; the Carvanha roared in pain, her scales taking on a steely gray sheen as she rushed forward blindly, colliding with Equius' boat.

A small explosion broke the small wooden craft, though there was no smoke and no fire. It was by all means invisible, save for small silver sparks between the two Pokemon. Equius was thrown back into the water, and Warfare circled him menacingly the entire way back to his ship.

Wait up. If he had 23% at the beggining of the round and Rough Skin did 4% damage and Metal Burst did 20%, does that not amount to over 23%? And that's not even accounting for Stealth Rock.

Where did Rough Skin do damage? Metal Burst was an explosion and Warfare's scales were temporarily transmuted to steel at the time and--OHHHHHHHH.

That's left over from copying and pasting the last round's formatting. I knew I was forgetting something. I'm deleting that now.

Right. And while I'm not sure to what extent disarming Stealth Rock through Rock Blast makes sense, there would be no Stealth Rock damage anyway, since Signal Beam doesn't require significant movement.

Well Equius was grabbing the rocks and smashing them together like a snowball. That qualifies as touching them. And that's 2% damage.

I dunno, it made more sense to compact conveniently-close-placed floating rocks than to summon them all the way up from the bottom of the water.

Incidentally if Rock Blast hadn't missed, the hits would have done 2% more damage each because they were made of particularly pointy rocks.

Round 7

Equius whimpered as Warfare waggled a fin, then spat out her two protruding teeth as two new ones slid immediately into place. The twin missiles swelled in size as they connected with the Riolu, pinning it to the wall by one arm and causing it to lose consciousness. Mawile recalled his faithful Pokemon as Warfare grinned toothily.

I hear Metronome Battles won't give EXP anymore.

Praying to the RNG that it doesn't take effect retroactively.

Rules changes do not apply to battles that have already begun. You will still get EXP from this when it finishes.

Mawile sneered. So, a naval battle was to be had, eh? Eh? Make it so! He called upon Terezi, his trusty Oshawott, who took to the water liek a fish to water, or maby an otter to water, just like a water otter oughtter.

Round 8

Terezi spat a small stream of water around for no particular reason, enjoying himself as he swam about, until a sharp pain in his side caused him to writhe in discomfort. Warfare grinned as her fin returned to its hydrodynamic state, from its pointed sting of the Metronome. Terezi's eyes narrowed, and he jiggled his paw, then giggled as he splashed about in the water. There was nothing he'd rather do, said his mind, unaware that it was an action of Metronome rather than one of pleasure. Warfare watched, a bit confused, then twitched her fin again and felt her blood begin to boil.

Actually, the water around her was boiling too. And rumbling. The earth shook beneath the waves, and geysers of heated water blasted from the surface. Molten rock from the very core of the earth shot up and showered the entire arena with magma, which cooled to rock as it landed in the water. Terezi shrieked in pain as a huge meteoric fragment nearly crushed his skull, but merely pinned him underwater; thankfully, a second igneous boulder smashed the first to pieces, allowing Terezi to warily swim back topside.

He wagged his paw as the storm died down, and his eyes glowed a fiery orange as he rose out of the water. Straightening his body of a will entirely not his own, he began to rotate in place, faster and faster, his body taking on the same orange radiance as his eyes. Letting out a resonating, godlike war cry, he blasted a spiral of flames in all directions, blotting out the very sun with their intensity and magnitude. Warfare felt her surfaced skin dry and scorch, and hurried to submerge her face again before any permanent damage was caused. The water steaming around her, she flapped a frantic fin.

Her stomach hurt. In fact, in a minute she was going to BLLEEAARGGHHHUUUGHHHUCHUCHUGHH-FHRUCHURF. Rather than swim in her own bile, she managed to get to the surface and vomit above water, coating Terezi in disgusting purple gastric gunk as he descended back to the water to land on a smoldering boat. Terezi shook his head in disgust, feeling the power of the ocean somehow being smothered by the sludge. He shook his paw again, and grunted in discomfort as his skull trembled in his head. With a sickening crickrackack!, two large wooden horns sprouted from the top of his noggin, which was then thrown violently forward by the Metronome. Upon connecting with Warfare, the horns poked thorn-like spokes into her body, absorbing her fluids and adding them to Terezi. As the horns were sucked back into his head, Terezi began to fear the Metronome Gods...as he should.

This must be the first time Magma Storm did not totale the Metronome arena.

Also, stand by for a huge fixup session: Terezi is actually female.

Magma Storm can't do much underwater, not to mention the arena was mostly totaled already. Also the Fire attacks aren't really as impressive as they should be.

And what the hell am I thinking, not going to overhaul the reffing but definitely going to watch that in the future.

Round 9
Warfare performed the Metronome Gods' ancient finger dance, flapping her fin and immediately feeling at home in her natural element. Submerging, she immersed herself in water, then charged the Oshawott opposite her, smashing her boat in two. Terezi waved her paw as the pair flew upwards, then yelled in fury as it slammed itself down onto Warfare's skull, the fleshy fishy body absorbing the impact that would have otherwize cracked the Carvanha's skull. As it were, Warfare saw wahite spots in her black vision, unable to make sense of anything at all as she plunged back into the water. Twitching her fin a bit more spasmy than before, Warfare let out a blasting roar, an earth-shaking sound that rattled Terezi to her very core. The fierce eyes of the fish, the enormous pointed teeth, the sound that just rocked the arena...Terezi froze in her tracks and could only tread water while dreading the inevitable attack of her feral foe.

Warfare grinned and flapped her fin again, this time summoning two enormous green spears; blinking rapidly, she lost control of them as her head pounded, and they dropped to draw twin gashes across her sides. As she wailed in pain, Terezi remembered that she was mortal indeed, and flapped her paw again. She shot forward liek a somewhat-slow bullet, involuntarily batting Warfare's Scope Lens aside with a paw and snickering as it sank to the bottom of the lake. The gunk from Warfare's stomach clung to her fur relentlessly even as she rushed through the water, and as the round closed she itched fervently at her lower back.
