The HeartGold/SoulSilver Status Thread

Need a little bit of guidance. I think I want to get a Venomoth, but I'm not sure who should be replaced by it.

Valain (Nidorino), Rafeil (Shellder), Remolo (Bayleef), Orcesis (Murkrow), Raillicot (Eevee, eventually Jolteon) or Serfia (Growlithe). All level 22. Help? I'd probably be most willing to get rid of Raillicot, although that would mean no electric at all.

Out of interest, where did you find Dunsparce? :) I'm desperate for a fluffy cloud of my own.

Dark Cave. I think only the Violet City side, but I'm not sure. Also it has a really low encounter rate, like 1% or something silly like that. I spent two and a half hours looking for her.

Also thanks Blaziking! Going to find a Dusk Stone now. I have a Dawn stone, but no Dusk Stone :I Can you get them from the Bug-Catching contest? Or as a Pokelathon prize?

This doesn't exactly help if you're early in the game, but I was messing around in Dark Cave earlier and found two or three with Rock Smash. I dunno if that means the encounter rate is higher that way or I just got lucky or what.

Man, I need Energy Ball for my Victreebel, but I don't seem to have it on Diamond or Platinum and the only way you can get it on HGSS is with like 60-some points at the frontier. :| Maybe I just haven't found it on Plat yet?

So me and my team are all being cool and stuff. Training up real good-like. I go into Blackthorn Gym and BAM Dragon-types all up in my face. So I take a good hard look at my team, think about the general area and what Pokemon I have available to myself, and, well, ENTER THE MAMOSWINE. I've wanted on of these bad boys since Diamond/Pearl, and my Sturdy Graveler wasn't really doing anything for me, so I made the swap and let me just say, he is pants-changingly amazing. Swinub was, not going to lie, a little frustrating to level up from 22, but it was totally worth it. He's is still a bit lower than I'd like, but he's mowing through the trainers in Blackthorn so I'm hoping to be able to blow through Claire like I've been able to for the last few leaders.

My Dudes

Hubert (Mamoswine <3) level 34
Ysosrs (Crobat) level 36
Worf (Magmar) level 36
Lurpak (Ampharos) level 36
Chet (Slowbro) level 37

Still at a loss for who to fill in in the last spot.

Quick question, I want a Houndour. Liek, now. From what I hear you can get them from the Savannah areas in the Johto Safari Zone and that they can be caught at the very least from before you fight the E4. Is there something special I should do to find them there or should I just keep looking?

That wasn't as quick as I thought it was.

Ugh, just made that cute Amphy feel better. Which just made me want a Ampharos more and more :< It was dumb of me not to catch a Mareep early on since I have NO electric types or moves :| Smart old me.

But really? I want, no I need a Dratini! Like everyone else, I cant really get one as that new casino game is too difficult and makes me frustrated before I can get any coins. Which means no Dratini for me  You'd think Lance could've spared me one. With 3 Dragonites and all :/

Mango, I have to agree with Mamoswine. I had one on my Plat team and it was one of my main powerhouses. Mamoswine are one of the best 4th gen Pokemon in my book(regardless of how they fare in competitive battles, because I'm not a competitive trainer so...). <3

Anyways I've taken a small break from Rhyhorn breeding. I think my Arbok and Rhyhorn are both happy that they aren't being forced to make love with each other for a little while. Now I'm training my team some. Once they're in the late 50's I'll battle the E4 again for more training.

I'm in Azalea Town now, taking on Bugsy's gym. Party:

Nidoran Male lvl8
Leer, Peck, Focus Energy

Hoothoot lvl13
Tackle, Peck, Uproar, Hypnosis

Spinarak lvl13
Poison Sting, String Shot, Constrict, Leech Life,

Geodude lvl14
Tackle, Defense Curl, Rock Throw, Rock Polish

Mareep lvl 13
Tackle, Growl, Thunder Shock

Tododile lvl 14

Yeeeah, he basically brought da noize and brought da funk in my battle against Claire.

Rock smash encounter rate for dunsparce is 90%.

Ah, screw my earlier plan. I've let my brother get too far ahead of me, so I traded over my Feraligatr to Platinum to train him to the 70s. After that, I'll trade over the others for training. Then I'll destroy the E4(again) and perhaps will battle Red.

SO IT'S BEEN A WHILE

A lot has happened. The stupid miltank has been murdered, I finally caved to what my friend wants and have a baby mareep in the PC to prove it (and of course the person who the totodile got named after knows about it cause TIA IS A FAIL) and I killed two gyms in one try.

Name: Tia
Badges: 5
Team:

Totodile Matt@everstone (still never evolving)
Moves: Leer (daycare fail i swear), Surf, Ice Fang, Crunch

Sandslash Rachel
Moves: Fury Swipes, Swift, Crush Claw, Rollout

Butterfree Ricky
Moves: Harden (uh, it's an inside joke), Psybeam, Gust, Stun Spore

Togetic :)
cannot recall moves atm

Was going to edit the actual update into my other post, but other people have posted now so.

Badges: 10
Pokédex: 200

[Vulcan Rex] Typhlosion (M) Lv51
[Bossa Nova] Miltank (F) Lv50
[Keleth] Xatu (F) Lv50
[Cain] Politoed (M) Lv50
[Shisa] Raikou (X) Lv50
[Janeiro] Hitmontop (M) Lv51

Moving a little more slowly now that getting new stuff for the dex is becoming more tedious, and also because I decided I wanted to plow through almost all of the trainers in Kanto before actually challenging any of the gyms. Still haven't gotten to the trainers along Route 20 and thereabouts, but yeah. Now that I've beaten Misty I'm going to be doing a whole mess of trades.

ALSO. To those of you desperate for a dratini: If you do not care that it has an attack-reducing nature (bold, to be specific), I don't especially need my Japanese extremespeed dratini and am willing to trade it. It's male, so it can breed extremespeed onto other dratini if you want to throw it in the daycare. More detail in the trading thread I'll be posting in my poor, neglected Wi-Fi forum in a second.

Alright, I have a dilemma. Laluz the Lanturn's moveset is:
Surf
Waterfall
Spark
Discharge

Now this is for in-game play, not competitive play. But I want to get rid of Spark.
Do I teach her Ice Beam, so she can combat the dragons, or Thunderbolt, so she has a decent move? Or do I just get rid of Discharge and teach her Thunderbolt anyway?

^ I'd say ditch both and teach her Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, though if you can't get Thunderbolt I'd say Discharge will be fine until you can. There's not much point in having both Thunderbolt and Discharge though, and Lance and Clair will be so much easier with a good ice attack.

Well it seems I got fed up with my first attempt at the game, I got as far as beating Pryce and then gave up, I really got some crappy pokemon at the beginning of the game. So I started a new save file, now i'm running errands for Prof.Elm with a level 13 cyndaquil with a faint sense of deja vu.

Busy obtaining Gym Leader's phone numbers, getting commemorative photos with some Leaders, and... attempting to earn enough Coins for an Eevee in the Celadon Game Corner's prize exchange building later. Love training Eevee.

...why is Kabuto's sprite levitating?

They all drank Red Bull to pass the time while they were stuck in their fossils. *shrug*

...Nah, I dunno; but it is a little weird.

Still haven't thought of a name for my Kabby. And Kabby certainly won't be it.
