Whirlpool vs. Pathos

...that reminds me, how does a blind Pokémon get affected by Flash?

Fire Fang (x2) to take advantage of whatever's left of the sun, and then Earth Power. If it tries to paralyze you, use Protect, and make a Substitute (10%) if it uses Double Team.

Fire Fang/Protect/Substitute (10%) (x2) ~ Earth Power/Protect/Substitute

Same way it manages to find its target somehow?

Manget Rise while he's trying to hit you with fire fang and, if you can, float out of range (upwards). Should at least lower his chance of hitting, if nothing else. Then go ahead and Flash Cannon the shit out of him.

Magnet Rise ~ Flash Cannon x2

Zerzin begins to analyze its electromagnetic gravity resistors. They’re not strong enough. The Magnemite, dissatisfied with its height and dependency on the ground, uses a portion of its energy to increase the power of its floating devices. Its height above the ground almost immediately increases by two feet. PROGRAM SUCCESSFUL, it thinks, NO LONGER AFFECTED BY GROUND-BASED ATTACKS. It is confident that its floating cannot be disturbed now, not even by an Earth Power.

Meanwhile, Hydra watches the interesting display. He growls, and charges forward at the Magnemite, his teeth generating fire for the umpteenth time. He lunges straight upwards. MUST FLOAT OUT OF RANGE, Zerzin thinks, and begins to float upwards. But Hydra comes in too quickly, biting down on one of the machine’s magnets and dragging it back down. After a while the Deino lets go, satisfied, but not before causing a nasty bit of damage.

Zerzin takes a quick look at its magnet. It doesn’t look too good; it’s got teeth marks in it, and is slightly melted. It feels it must take revenge. Immediately upon looking back up, the Magnemite immediately puts what’s left of its magnets in front of it and begins to charge up a silvery mass of energy between them. Soon, the ball of energy is about a foot-and-a-half in diameter, and the Magnemite has knocked it toward Hydra. The Flash Cannon explodes upon contact with the Deino, making him see spots. Not this again…, the Deino thinks, shaking its head out.

Oh, so it wanted to go that way, did it? Well, he had a plan to fix that. Hydra immediately bursts forward again, the spots quickly moving out of his eyes, and laces his teeth with Fire-type energy. Getting close to Zerzin, the Deino jumps up, focusing for the magnet he hit before. Zerzin does its best to float out of the way, but it’s too late; Hydra has a solid hold on its magnet, and only after a lot of shaking by the Magnemite does he get thrown off. He smiles as the sunlight above fades away; That was satisfying.

Once again, Zerzin looks cautiously at its magnet. It gasps (or as close as a Magnemite can come to gasping, anyway) in horror at the condition of the thing. The magnet is nearly flattened by all those tooth marks, and has melted into a not-really-magnet shape. It’s just got to have revenge for that! Without wasting another second, Zerzin begins to charge up another Flash Cannon, this one going quicker than the last. As soon as it is ready, it swings its remaining magnet at the thing like a baseball bat, launching the attack at Hydra. The Deino is blinded again by the explosion.

Good Arceus, Hydra thinks, When will it stop doing that!? Then, it suddenly comes to a conclusion. Well, I’ll have to make it stop by myself! He closes his eyes, and tries to connect to the spirit of the Earth. He is successful, and commands it to attack Zerzin. The Magnemite’s eye widens; it knows exactly what’s coming. But it’s prepared to float right out of the way. Immediately, Zerzin floats upwards, out of reach of the ground that explodes underneath it. Hydra growls in frustration. Grr, that was a cheap tactic!

Idk if Superpool would count the poison as taking effect after one action, so Flash Cannon + Thundershock. If he protects, Chill until... he doesn't. If he creates a sub, just Flash Cannon and then Thundershock afterwards.

Flash Cannon + Thundershock / Chill / Flash Cannon ~ Flash Cannon + Thundershock / Chill / Thundershock x2

Desparate times call for desparate measures, I guess.

Go into a cave in one of the pillars, preferably hidden, and Chill (x2). If you can't do that, just spam Fire Fang.

The Magnemite begins to charge up another Flash Cannon, but this time he also discharges a little electricity into the mix. The Thundershock’s yellowish tint mixes with the silver of the flash cannon to create a golden ball of energy that is crackling all over with sparks. Zerzin knocks the attack at Hydra, and the Deino has no time to get away before the Thunder Cannon explodes in front of him, shocking him with an electrical discharge as well as blinding him. And now I feel uncreative. Flare, let's hope we have better luck.

Doesn't Pathos still attack first, because I sent a new Pokémon out?

I don't really know, truthfully. But he attacked first last round, so.

Negrek and some other refs allow the person whose pokémon was just knocked out to attack second that round regardless of turn order, to mitigate the disadvantage of being down one. It's your call whether you want to do that or not.

So, Double Team (4 clones), Flame Charge, and Flame Wheel. Protect the first time it tries to Thunder Wave you; Sunny Day if it uses Protect.

Flare immediately starts crawling forward, until she is a meter away from where she started. Then, she turns around and begins to crawl, faster and faster, in a circle until her body becomes a blur. By the time she stops, four other Larvestas are trailing behind her. She does a quick mix-up with them, and Zerzin loses track of which one is real. But that can be fixed! The Magnemite beeps a few times, lifting its magnets toward the sky and sending out a bluish pulse. The pulse explodes in the sky, and before anyone knows what’s happening, the sky is covered in dark-gray clouds. There is a crack of thunder and a flash of lightning, then rain spontaneously starts pouring down in sheets on the battlers.

However, Flare isn’t happy about this. She may be a bug, but water is one thing she does not like. She decides to attack Zerzin as hard as she can, despite the downpour. She laces herself and her clones in flames, then rushes forward with them into the Magnemite. The downpour above nerfs the attack a little, but Zerzin still feels a hard impact as some more of his body starts melting. That isn’t good…

Zerzin studies its opponent. There are five little caterpillar things sitting on the ground in front of it. Well, no problem if it can attack them all at once! It immediately lets out a strong, wide spread of electricity that electrocutes Flare. The hit breaks her concentration, and her clones all immediately disappear. She retaliates by crawling forward again. This time, however, the Larvesta leaps into the air and curls herself into a ball. Flames sprout all across her little body, and she rams into Zerzin yet again. The Magnemite sighs to itself.

Well, it has one attack left. Zerzin decides to take advantage of the rain above and raises its magnets to the sky. It lets go of even more precious electricity in a pulse that soon disappears in the clouds. The Magnemite shudders; its power level is dangerously low, and it might not survive another round. But for now it has to concentrate on the attack. It points both its magnets at Flare, sending electromagnetic pleas for help to the heavens. They comply, and send a really, really gigantic bolt of electricity down upon Flare. She almost screams as the powerful bolt courses through her body, but manages to keep her mouth shut and act cool. Zerzin, meanwhile, turns on his built-in beeper for use only in dire need of fuel.

Flare looks at her opponent. That thing just caused her a lot of pain. Also, it started this awful rain! Ugh, her fur is getting wet! Overall, the Larvesta has no qualms about annoying her opponent. She immediately begins to walk jauntily around the arena, proclaiming her awesomeness. “Oh, poor you! Just look at me, fit as a fiddle, while you float there and struggle to keep going. Aren’t I just so superior to you?” The Swaggering works as Flare takes her place by her trainer again, a smug smile on her face.

Zerzin is enraged. How dare she do all that swaggering? She has no right to go doing that, when she’s only been in the battle for one measly little round! But it decides to attack her later. Maybe by then it will have cooled down a bit, and won’t be so blinded by rage. The Magnemite closes its eye and goes into a half-dormant state, its magnets working to pull all the electricity they can out of the environment.

Flare, only a little peeved by the Magnemite’s ignorance of her Swaggering, begins to burrow in the dirt. Very soon, she has a large pile of it beside her. She chops off a bit of her health, and wills it into the mass of dirt. It immediately starts glowing, and forms itself into a Larvesta-shape. Flare crawls back a little, and admires her handiwork as Zerzin continues to chill over on the other side of the battlefield.

No sooner has she done that, then Flare looks up toward the rain clouds. The water gets in her eyes and pushes back her petals! Ugh, horrible! She feels like she needs to improve the environment around here a little. Her orange petals glow, and from them an orange pulse flies up toward the sky. It hits the clouds, which almost immediately evaporate, leaving the sun’s bright, hot light to shine upon the battlers.

Zerzin opens its eye, and flinches at the blinding sunlight above. Ugh, what did that dang Larvesta do? Well, whatever she did it is sure those clouds weren’t ready to leave yet. Narrowing his eye, he charges electricity in his magnets, then sweeps them in front of him, letting the Discharge out in a wide pulse. Flare looks mournfully at the attack, realizing there’s no real way she can dodge it, and puts her head towad the ground to shield herself. But just before impact, her Substitute leaps in the way, saving her from the Discharge.

Flare looks yet again at her opponent. It’s weakened; it can’t survive much longer. She’s so close to winning! The Larvesta begins to charge up and gather all of the heat energy she can. After a few minutes she has an incredible amount, increased by the sun’s help. She crawls over to below Zerzin, chuckling to herself. Oh, the pain this will bring to that annoying little magnet! She then unleashes all the energy, all of it, in one focused blast toward the Magnemite. Its magnet is hit hard by the blast—it completely melts, dripping onto the ground.

Zerzin gasps. No! My magnet! My beautiful magnet! It’s gone! That was the last straw. The magnet gathers up all the drops of it, which have now solidified, and shoots them at its opponent. The magnet bombs explode upon contact with the Substitute, which jumps in the way of the attack not a second too soon. But the blast is too much for the poor mass of dirt; it crumples into what it originally was, and falls to the ground.

But Flare isn’t yet ready to give up. She immediately begins to empty her mind. A mind empty of weaknesses has less access points, after all. Soon, a lot of useless data has been pushed out of her brain for the time being, and her mental defenses are twice as strong. Meanwhile, Zerzin has opened his solar receptors up to the sun, and has begun to absorb energy for his final attack. Flare pays no attention, and lays down for her own little rest.

Zerzin’s CPU is filled with thoughts. She…She melted my magnet. My magnet is worth so much to me… It eventually decides nervously that suicide is the best option. But with all the pain Flare has caused it, it couldn’t let the little bug get away freely. Confidently, the little Magnemite floats over to its opponent, gathering all the energy it can. Flare slowly blinks itself awake, only to stare into the face of its angry opponent. But it’s too late to escape. A white beam of light escapes the Magnemite; Then another, and another. Soon there are a lot of them. Its body contracts, and then it explodes in an ear-shattering blast. As Whirlpool ducks for cover from the attack, the ground below is burned away until there is a gigantic crater where Flare was. The Larvesta slowly crawls out from the rubble, somewhat blackened with soot and coughing. Zerzin is lying there, motionless, his body mostly melted.
