Whivit vs Walker

Swagger at Canon, and then since you're as deep as you can go, dig sideways. Go as far as you can in one action, and try going a bit upwards as you go but not so far that you'll reach the actual surface - just a bit linear so the toxic water behind you will be more likely to stay behind you.

Then, since I doubt you'll be hearing anything Cannon tries to do, see if you can get a direct-to-mind psychic from where you are. If you can't, absorb water if there's any non-toxic water around you, or chill if the only water around you is toxic or there's no water at all.

Massive clouds stretch as far as the eye can see and further. Torrential rains assault the rough rock ground and everything on it, and lightning often flashes, bringing resounding thunder along with it. Small streams and rivulets flow quite quickly toward larger pools. The air is also humid, if anyone can even tell after the one second it takes to be thoroughly soaked.

The battle itself takes place in what appears to be a very shallow, but large pool; to one side, there is merely wet rock and the save rivulets of water, and on the other, the rest of the large, irregularly-shaped pool. Unseen, beneath the water, there are cracks and fissures where the water is extremely deep, but even the largest fissures are small enough for an average human to step over.

All weather moves are ineffective; the clouds cannot be moved, there is no sand, and the air is too warm for hail. The warmth means any ice move's effects (beyond damage) cannot last beyond an action, and freezing is impossible. Otherwise, the rain's effects on battle act as a normal rainstorm, and can go on seemingly forever.

.: Actions :.

It’s difficult for Clide to remember what utter arrogance feels like and how she’s supposed to act, so she instead tries to remember what she remembers other, more arrogant pokémon acting like, trying to make herself one with them and don their personalities for a moment. She stands up, shifting her stance a little and working a smirk onto her face. In a drawling tone, she loudly proclaims how much better she is than Cannon, bragging about her skills and how much better she is in the water and how Cannon has no chance of winning the battle. Cannon gives the hole a dirty look, annoyed but not infuriated. The provocation does manage to affect him a bit, but not to the point where his anger overtakes his thought processes. The effect is weakened because he can’t see Clide, and bragging and hiding don’t go that well together if she’s trying to prove a point.

While Clide is still swaggering underground, Cannon looses a piercing screech into the hole. The shriek is distracting enough to freeze Clide in place for a moment, but not quite enough to leave her reeling in shock. She was somewhat expecting some sort of angry reaction, and the scream might be it, so she can assume that her move worked. That done, she turns around and pushes her head against the dirt at the end of the tunnel, kicking and spinning and pushing the dirt aside to create a tunnel. The tunnel rises only slightly above her previous level, and some of the poison, stirred by her movement, follows a short distance. By the time she stops digging, however, the poison’s no longer in the water around her, or at least not noticeably so.

Cannon, of course, can’t tell if his move worked, but he just assumes it did. He opens his mouth again, loosing another scream even higher in pitch than his last one. Clide hears another scream, but it doesn’t quite have its intended effect on her, just drawing her attention in the middle of digging the second part of the tunnel. She assumes that it, like the screech, is just a scream of anger. Unfortunately she can’t tell exactly where it came from, because she isn’t exactly sure where she’ll be aiming.

She’s certain that she can reach through the dirt and into Cannon’s mind, because the dirt won’t stop her mental abilities any more than the water did. It does, however, make it difficult to find where to aim. She guesses that he’s probably at the entrance to the tunnel, since it seems to make the most sense, but he might have moved or entered the tunnel if he was affected badly by her swagger. She’ll just have to try.

Closing her eyes, she concentrates, reaching out with her mind and effortlessly reaching through the dirt. She doesn’t meet anything, though, and has to grope around with her outstretched mind until she can feel the presence of another mind. She finds Cannon’s presence and grabs it, invading his mind and sending pain through him. Cannon thrashes in the water, but the episode is much shorter than normal; Clide retracts her mind back into the body, not wanting to overextend it in the middle of battle.

Cannon isn’t certain about shooting into the hole—that’s what he’s supposed to be doing, but it sounds like his trainer meant for Clide to be out by now. And she should be, really. He’s surprised that she stayed down there in the undoubtedly poisonous water, just to hide from his attacks, so he would have expected her to come out, too. But since she didn’t, would shooting be the right thing to do? He can’t see her, or aim properly, but she’s got to be at the end of the tunnel, which is probably straight enough to shoot into. And those are Walker’s orders. He dips his head into the hole, uncertain. She might be there or she might not, but as far as he’s concerned she may as well be not there to hit. It’s not even like with a double team or protect where he might think he’s got a decent chance of hitting the right one; he knows that the effort’s probably futile. Unless it isn’t, and the tunnel is perfectly straight and she’s still there. But where else would she go? And how else would she dig? She might’ve left the poison, coming back up the tunnel so that she was in cleaner water, but he can’t see her.

Yes, Walker probably meant for Cannon to Bullet Seed into the hole, like with the Toxic, since he also said to use Façade if Clide came out. He said to use it only on the action that Clide revealed herself, but Cannon thinks the reasoning still stands. Besides, Clide attacked him, so she’s probably somewhere where she can be attacked back. He closes his mouth, coughing up seeds, then spits out five streams of tiny seeds in quick succession, not knowing for certain that they only hit the dirt.

- Psychic was weakened because Clide had to spend time searching for Cannon
- Bullet Seed shot five times, and all missed

Swim to the surface and use Haze. Try to be as far from the toxic pools as possible, and if necessary, jump out of the water so that the haze gets all of you. I don't think you'll have any trouble doing that, right? Next, use Amnesia, and then end it by Resting.

Clide closes her eyes and meditates, pulling her mind into her body and spreading out her mind throughout the inside of her body. She can feel the taint, all of the poison that she will have to purge. Then she focuses on it, concentrating so hard she glows white, lighting up the tunnel. She lets out water from within her stores to spread throughout her body, collecting all of the poison, and flushes them out by expelling the tainted water from her skin quite forcefully. The poison quickly becomes too diluted to poison her again, in harmless particles dissolved in water.

Meanwhile, Cannon swims up to the surface and breaks through, immediately pelted by the rain falling down in sheets. Even with the feeling like he’s being pelted with rocks, it feels a bit comfortable, turning the air almost wet enough for him to breathe. He coughs, and thick black fog spews from his mouth, rolling over the water’s surface. The sudden creeping cold wraps around Cannon’s body, extremely uncomfortable especially with his wet skin. He can’t help but feel a little numb, even forgetting Clide’s beauty, which would have been so distracting before had he tried to attack her. Knowing the numbing feeling is what he’s after but disliking it, Cannon pulls himself back down into the more comfortable pond and swims just under the surface, not eager to feel it again.

Clide, now free of that sick feeling, relaxes against the dirt wall again, calmly clearing her mind and allowing her body to regain somewhat-needed energy. Cannon, swimming in a circle also clears his mind—but in a different way. He lets go of different areas of his mind, not feeling himself losing knowledge or forgetting some of what he learned, but suddenly finding a blank spot in his memory. He flits around in another circle. Where is he? What is he doing here? Who is—oh, no, that’s not a problem. And he can vaguely remember when he was first sent out, facing a poliwag, though he doesn’t see her anywhere… oh well. He doesn’t care, really. Swim swim swim…

Concentrating some more, Clide extends her mind, reaching through the soil again and toward Cannon’s previous location. She doesn’t find anything, naturally, since he’s nearly at the surface, but she pats at the ground, trying to find him. Then she reaches into the tunnel, searching for a mind. Nothing. Then the ground around the hole again, and above, breaking free of the surface. She finds herself unable to keep her mind outside of her body and pulls back, frowning. It’s too late now to perform the other actions Whivit wants.

Cannon, meanwhile, finally remembers what he’s supposed to do now (with helpful prodding by his trainer) and closes his eyes, clearing his mind in a more proper way than before. He goes into a trance, blocking out the world around him and thinking only of healing his body. A blue aura surrounds him, destroying the poison within him and sending energy through his body to heal his wounds. The bruise is the first to go, the spilled blood disappearing and the injured tissue healing itself. Then the damage from the poison ravaging his body is cured, cells multiplying to replace the old, which are destroyed. Having healed all of his physical troubles, the energy then sets its sight on the next damaged part of Cannon: his mind.

Sweetness. Dig up and hit Cannon, combined with a Wake-up Slap. That should sufficiently ruin their plans for this round, so on your last action, grab him with a Psychic and toss him into the first hole you dug. Make sure it isn't the one you came out of, but the one you dug into, mmkay - that one should be harder to get out of, and have plenty of toxins hanging around in it.

.: Actions :.

Unable to sense where Cannon might be, if he’s on the ground at all, Clide quickly makes the decision not to try to hit him from below and instead just follow the second order. She pushes at the dirt, wriggling to force it to give way, and tunnels back up through the earth and bursts up from below, into the open water. She spins around, looking for Cannon, and finds him floating behind her, glowing blue and totally unaware of anything. His subconscious is only beginning to react to his trainer’s order when she slams her tail into him, slapping him awake painfully.

Cannon is jolted awake by the pain, but still finds himself helpless against the last few slaps, or Clide’s final kick to push them away from each other. Cannon glares at her, although he also wonders what he’s supposed to do now – Sleep Talk is a familiar name, one he thinks he should know, but he doesn’t actually remember how to execute it. He has only ever managed to instinctively perform the move while asleep, though he doesn’t quite know that, so he’s just stuck swimming in circles until he decides it’s probably time to move onto the next action.

Clide helps make that decision by focusing on him, this time easily able to see her target and grab him with her mind. Cannon glows blue again, but this time for a different reason. Quite suddenly he finds himself being pulled down, through a dark tunnel. His side scrapes roughly against the wall of the tunnel, and he can’t move no matter how he struggles. Then quite suddenly everything goes dark, and the water tastes disgusting – he has been drawn into the poison pooled at the bottom of the tunnel, and still he’s being pulled down until he is forced against the floor. It is only then that he is released.

Cannon’s first instinct is to try to get out; swimming through the tunnel wouldn’t be hard, exactly, but his orders are to relax. Even if he is surrounded by poisonous water. Even if he has to breathe in the poison and tolerate the taste. He relaxes, trying to ignore how disgusting it is, and just lets his body regain energy. He’s hardly tired, even after his energy was being drained to heal him, but he could rest a bit.

He relaxes further, settling on the rock floor at the very lowest point in the tunnel. At this point he’s starting to get restless, feeling that he has almost no need to rest any more. There would hardly be an advantage if he chilled another few minutes, but he might start feeling a bit sicker, the way he does now.
