• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    what languages do you speak?

Fluency in English, semi-fluency in Spanish and some competence in Irish. I can also follow basic French, Portuguese and Italian well enough, thanks to my Spanish.

    Last Album You Listened To?

Swan Songs by Hollywood Undead. It's unbelievably inconsistent but nonetheless entertaining. I can't get my head around a band that talks about fucking "bitches" and "sluts" in one song and then lambasts previous generations for creating and propagating gender roles, but their music is nice.

    Creating a Metropolis

^This. When I needed to do an alternate history, I renamed Las Vegas to Rivera City after the first foreigner to find the Las Vegas Valley.

    What are you reading? II

Since Saturday, I've read Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson, Darke by Angie Sage, Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian by Eoin Colfer and The Spook's Blood by Joseph Delaney. Now I'm working on The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

    This is beautiful. Kudos.

Dare by The Human League. It's obscenely good for 80s synthpop.

    Bands you have seen live.

Meat Loaf (with Status Quo) - Pretty good Kaiser Chiefs (with The Fratellis) - Amazeballs Linkin Park (with Queens of the Stone Age and Coheed & Cambria) - Pretty good Rolo Tomassi (with The Psychic Kids) - INTENSELY FUCKING WONDERFUL 30 Seconds to Mars (with Street Drum Corps and Fox Avenue) -...

Circumcision. Religious freedom or inhumane torture?

Did anyone say that is doesn't have medical benefits? In fact, didn't I just say circumcision has medical uses? It is objectively true that circumcision can be used as a medical treatment. However, it's very hotly debated and in no way at all clear cut that infantile circumcision has any genuine...

Circumcision. Religious freedom or inhumane torture?

I'm very much in favour of passing laws to ensure the bodily integrity of kids. If it's for medical reasons, that's an unfortunate fact of life, but if it's not necessary, then leave it for the kid to decide when he's old enough. There's a guy I know who's fanatical about defending infantile...

    Parodies

Psssst. Psssst. You relinked Cleopatra instead of the RAF Take That.

    Last Album You Listened To?

Vexillology by deadmau5. It's pretty good, not mind-blowing and definitely not a stitch on Daft Punk. Still, it's good enough to keep in my WMP, which is a good sign.

    War on Drugs

I think that's the point Danni was trying to make.

    War on Drugs

The war on drugs is a silly thing. All it means is that the production of drugs is going to be in the hands of criminals who will use it to fund further illegal enterprise while their profits aren't taxed and with no regulation on the quality of the drugs, which means they're going to cut it...

What's your favorite Video Game Villian?

Favourite villains? I really like Father Elijah, Dr. Klein and Ulysses from the Fallout: New Vegas DLCs, Commander Maro from Skyrim, President Eden from Fallout 3, The Creeper from Fable III, Razorbeard from Rayman 2, Gleeman Vox from Ratchet: Deadlocked, Malefor from The Legend of Spyro: Dawn...

This is going to be my first year where I actually have the time to do NaNoWriMo and it's going to be fabulous.

Things to do during the summer

Well, the most off-the-wall thing I'm doing this summer is having tea and biscuits with the nuns in the convent around the corner, so I don't know if I can really help here. Are you musical at all? Doing a gig would be cool.

    Euthanasia

I think opal was more referring to occasions such as where he's saying things which clearly imply he believes he's in a position to judge other people and then, when people call him out on it, his only response is "I didn't say that!" because he didn't say the exact words "I believe I am in a...

    Euthanasia

So, for you, if someone doesn't take care of their health so much and gets potentially fatally sick because of it, you think the proper response is to let them die rather than help them get better and give them the chance to improve their health? If so, that leads to some pretty amazing...

    GM Foods

Having debated both sides of this topic competitively, I like to think I have a fairly balanced view of the whole situation, which is why I can say without reservation that I completely agree with you about the damaging effect of anti-GM activists. I could say so much but I think the thing that...
