• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    indie/alternative rock

in line with zeta's masculine/feminine analogy, i associated alternative rock with a rough, hard-edged sound, whereas indie bands might be inclined to make things seem prettier, or perhaps cleaner or tidier. there is a clear divide between nirvana and, say, pavement. both are blanket terms, and...

How to Make a Man Ou of a Boy (Repost from the pre-forum crash days)

enough of these things happened to my dad. my dad is assuming, judgmental, dishonest, and verbally abusive to my mother and my brother. we don't talk much; his reason is, "i operate on 'logic'" whereas my mother operates on "i don't know what".

    New years resolutions?

i don't see how this is a bad thing. i pledged two years ago after some awful stuff i'd inadvertently done to become a better person. it didn't happen overnight; in fact, it took much longer than a year. no matter how long it took, i did become a better person, and that's what matters to me.

    New years resolutions?

i agree with this, even if i come up with resolutions every year. i attempt to make amends to my life year round. i'm going to try to get a driver's license next year. i'll also pledge to read twenty-five books, something i normally do before the year's half over.

    The Dream Thread

for christmas, i wrote some letters to people that i care about. last night, for the hour or so that i slept, i dreamt what their reactions would be. the reactions ranged from being "livind" to giving me abstract poetry in an attempt to return their gratitude.

what is the best album/song of 2009?

you should try listening to logos again, zeta. when i first heard it, i only liked a handful of songs, while the others were like sonic mush. after i played it another time or two, i fell in love with it. when i bought it, i literally listened to the whole album once every day for a few weeks...

    The Grunge Thread

i dislike grunge. :/ it's the only kind of music inspired by punk that i can't get into. i guess i just can't get behind the anger. well, i like nirvana, but i tend not to think of them as grunge. i don't really think of some grunge bands as grunge.

    indie/alternative rock

don't worry, shiningglass. it's cool that someone else listens to shoegaze. i don't meet many people who are into the same kind of music as me. to add to the "indie" discussion, i just use indie as a label for bands that exhibit a bit of creative freedom. indie itself isn't a very good...

    indie/alternative rock

slowdive is a good if you want something.. um.. slower in pace. shoegaze is a very ambient kind of music, and they're the shoegaze band i've listened to that leans towards ambient music the most. to put it in perspective, brian eno collaborated with them. at the same time, shoegaze is a...
