    i think you can use samplers to trigger samples stored on the computer. i'm not totally sure. there are loads of programs, like fruityloops, ableton, logicpro (i think), garageband, etc., as well as some freeware i'm not aware of. you can get ableton for $90 if you agree to take a class on it...
