• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    Opinions on IPod?

if you're like me, you know you're going to keep collecting music. the space is a necessity; i got an ipod touch and filled it up the first day. having a touch with an external speaker, it's not the greatest thing in the world, but that's me. the quieter sound may be a minor issue, but i don't...

    The Disney Thread

i own a lot of disney movies on videotape, but i can't say that i remember many of them. i watched and rewatched all of them to oblivion, it seems. a few years ago, i rewatched a few of them; i really liked 101 dalmatians' art style. it seemed mod-ish, or like a beatnik-type thing. i don't know...

    Lady Gaga

lily allen is good stuff. i like regina spektor, too; "dance anthem of the 80s" is fantastic. generally speaking, the pop bands/singers i've heard and liked include kylie minogue, OMD, donna summer (especially the electronic giorgio stuff), blondie, etc... i don't really have a preference for...

    Lady Gaga

umm.. i like kylie minogue. does that count? :x there's annie, too, but annie's not really popular. i like lady gaga as a person. she seems very smart. at the same time, i can't really get into her songs. after i saw an interview of her, i dislike that people will pigeonhole her as the one who...

    Christmas Rec. Time

for books, have you read haruki murakami? i've read underground and the wind-up bird chronicle and thoroughly enjoyed both. of course, underground is series of interviews and is only as good as the subject, but the best ones are so heartwarming. i liked the perks of being a wallflower, too, but...

    What are you reading?

i read underground back in the spring and really liked that as well. i figured i would like this book, but not nearly as much as i did. he's an author i really want to keep checking out, for sure.

This just in: Sarah Palin is a fucking idiot.

see, the guy in the steelers jacket confused me. alaska is actually near russia. probably not across the street, but maybe across the pond or something. i don't know. that statement of his really stopped me in my tracks; i had to go look at a map to make sure i wasn't crazy.

    What are you reading?

i finished it. it was probably the most satisfying book i've read in months. i loved it. i'm not really sure what to read next.. i'll probably read some poems from an arthur rimbaud omnibus i purchased awhile back. i might start the picture of dorian gray, but i don't really know.

    Should homework be required?

i'd say keep it, but i'd only be speaking for myself. my test scores aren't always in top shape; homework softens the blow a bit. it's also rarely challenging for me for reasons that aren't my fault. it's a good way to gauge how well you know the material, but then it doesn't have to mandatory...

the wind-up bird chronicle. ~1/3 of the way through it, and i'm really enjoying it so far. so weird, but so good.

    Hayao Miyazaki's movies

i've only not read nausicaa because i can't find the manga where i live. the library stocks it, but kids at the library tend to mistreat books beyond words. i don't trust those.. there's a lot of 11 books on ebay now, but i'm guessing those are 32-pagers and not actual volumes. :/ i'll stick it...

    Hayao Miyazaki's movies

NO having watched the sub, i can't stand what they did to totoro and the catbus. i'm not generally anal about sub vs. dub, but i just.. cannot accept this. but i can accept that you do.. i'm not trying to be an ass or anything about it. i haven't watched most miyazaki movies, though.. spirited...

    Hayao Miyazaki's movies

howl's moving castle was okay as a novel. i've not yet seen the movie, but i remembered enough to be able to say that it follows it pretty accurately. my neighbor totoro is probably my favorite movie, ever. i grew up on the fox dub, too! crappy voice acting hollaaaaaa

    University Applications

my parents will just say, "baby, all you need to do is apply for a scholarship." i am applying for those once my apps get sent; they never got me the scholarship compendium they told me they would get, so that's happening after my applications are done.
