• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Switching it up completely...I've recently gotten some inspiration for a Sun team, and I've got two individuals that I find are rather unique in their design. Constructive criticism only, please. I can't get better through blatant insults. VICTREEBEL Victreebel [Special Sunny Variant]...

Mine was never a complete team, per se. But, through the history of playing Pokémon with my cousin, I've created a few infamous individuals, including the namesake of this username. BELLSPROUT Swept my cousin from 3-1 to 1-0 in a random rentals match on Stadium 2. SLOWKING Completely swept my...

Bellsprout's Nuzlocke Challenge featuring the Sinnoh region Basic Rules - The challenger is only allowed to catch the very first wild pokémon encountered in each route. [B/W] How good is my team?

Also, I just realized the second part of your comment was directed at me as well. I didn't mean that status moves are less useful in-game. Simply that they play a more crucial role in a competitive situation than Absol=Epic would like, hence everyone's suggesting those types of moves to him/her.

    Nuzlocke Challenge

That, actually, is the point of the Nuzlocke challenge: to make the game more difficult by self-imposed rules of team moderation to see what kinds of strategies you can devise (short of severe over-leveling) to beat the game. And most of the people who participate in Nuzlocke challenges...

[B/W] How good is my team?

My apologies, Alvyren. I've never bothered with the Gems, so I'll confess I wasn't aware of their mechanics. I simply assumed.

[B/W] How good is my team?

Status moves tend to play the bigger part in competitive battling as they encompass more of the needed strategy that a trainer uses. That being said, I'll just say your team isn't that great. The only advice I would give that hasn't already been said is to make your Simipour into a pure...

I agree with you on Focus Blast's better type coverage. But, frankly, its accuracy scares me. As for Guard Swap, I would use that over Guard Split except -the way I understand it, at least- Guard Split averages out the Defense stats whereas Guard Swap switches the stat changes, not the stats...

All right. That explains how effective a general Rain Dance strategy is, but it hardly explains why Drizzle/Swift Swim is singled out as opposed to all the other weather effect/stat-altering ability combos out there.

Thanks for the heads up. I had also thought about utilizing the Guard Split alongside Shuckles in doubles as well, but since I was working on the Rain Dance team in my head, the fact that Accelgor couldn't be affected by status was very appealing considering that'd be one less element of its...

So, I'm trying to design a Rain Dance team. Only got one completely mapped out. C+C please. ACCELGOR Timid / Hydration @ Leftovers/Focus Sash Bug Buzz / Recover / Giga Drain / Guard Split 252 HP / 96 Sp.ATT / 160 SPD The move set feels a little weak, as does the gimmick as a whole, but I...

    Just One (RMP)

Erm... 10/10? Tri Attack = great STAB + potential random status T-Bolt/Ice Beam = standard Porygon attacks dating back to 3rd gen. Recover = yay HP Eviolite = yay +50% defenses Seriously, for being such a simple concept, this thing is probably boss. I approve.

    Nuzlocke Challenge

Exactly. The point of being able to catch the first and only the first pokémon per route is to detract from the control you have in creating your team. A rule like that can easily be bent when you find something you don't like, and then you "accidentally" knock it out, thus allowing you...
