• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Excadrill and Thundurus are now Uber

Lack of immunity to Toxic and Thunder Wave, much worse defensive typing that gives it a harder time switching in, weakness to SR, less bulk, lack of Swords Dance, worse coverage, and not nearly as fast as Excadrill. Excadrill can outspeed most scarfers in the sand. Edit: Oh right, I forgot to...

Excadrill and Thundurus are now Uber

I left out Cofagrigus because I doubt I've ever seen one in OU. I've used it a few times in UU and RU, but it functions best as a Trick Room sweeper rather than a supporter. That Excadrill is forcing people to use otherwise-outclassed Pokemon is a testament to its overcentralizing ability...

Excadrill and Thundurus are now Uber

Yes, of course. However Will-o-Wisp has shaky accuracy, poor distribution, and a lot of its users are murdered by Excadrill. Even max hp/def Dusknoir is almost always OHKO'd by +2 Adamant Excadrill's Earthquake without Life Orb; with SR, it's guaranteed OHKO. Weezing is better off, only being...

Excadrill and Thundurus are now Uber

Krookodile (did I spell that right hurr. The alligator thingy) is ground/dark. Excadrill is ground/steel. What's really notable about ground/steel is that, besides its numerous resistances, it's immune to both toxic and thunder wave, so you can't rely on those to stop/shorten its sweep.

Excadrill and Thundurus are now Uber

Excadrill is much harder to stop than Mienshao or Scizor or Rotom, though. While it may not have priority like Scizor, it is so fast it pretty much doesn't need it. Banded or +2 Bullet Punch hurts a lot, but Steel is a pretty bad offensive type, while Excadrill has great coverage between its...

Excadrill and Thundurus are now Uber

It pretty much forced every team to have at least one dedicated counter, maybe even two, and it was a huge part of sandstorm's popularity. I believe that it had few /checks/ but a fair amount of Pokemon that could revenge with priority. Again comparing it to Salamence: few Pokemon could reliably...

Excadrill and Thundurus are now Uber

It's not just that. Scizor is fairly one-dimensional, while Salamence could be running DD, or mixed, or band, or specs, or a bulky set - who knows? Salamence's versatility was what made it so hard to counter and thus so scary - most teams would lose at least one Pokemon to find out the set, and...

Excadrill and Thundurus are now Uber

It's not whether the Pokemon will do well in Ubers, it's about whether the Pokemon is overcentralizing or is too broken for the OU metagame. Which I believe Excadrill is. Also, Tyranitar is fairly common in Ubers, as is Garchomp, so who knows?
