• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

I wasn't sure whether this would go for the Fwee thread or this.

After six hours of painstaking work fearing that I would lose my iPod forever, I got it updated!

(below is a bit of a techy question for anyone who owns an iPod Touch)

When I first updated (with iTunes), it said I had to restore it to its factory settings. I did that, but then it kept going 'network timed out.' My iPod, by that point, had been stuck in that state where iTunes didn't know what version or capacity it had (both showed up as n/a.) The same message popped up for the next six hours till now. (I just updated it a few minutes ago.) It randomly worked. What happened?

Anyway, I lost all my apps (guess backup only covers contacts and settings) which I will need to re download, but hey!

I think it just connected before it timed out, simple as.

Have fun with your updated iPod, which I REALLY REALLY WANT except for iTunes.

I doubt it, as the computers all had perfect connectivity-it was only iTunes.

You could jailbreak it. That way, you don't need to go through Apple's resrictions.
