• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

  • Heroic spirit...

A flash of blue hair, golden hazel eyes... Alpha...? Alpha needed him.

    Forlas.

Anubis lurched, and then rolled over awkwardly. Clumsy, all wrong, limbs too short and thick and his ears(???) were cold. What? He opened his eyes and blinked several times, expecting the strange whiteness to fade, but it only shifted into more discernible shapes as his vision acclimated.

Snow, snow and ice for... as far as his eyes could see. Wetness soaking his paws, as cold snow melted and formed a puddle around him from his body heat. With some awkwardness, he rose to hiw paws, then gave himself a good shake from head to tail (oh... his tail was short again). His lip twitched in displeasure. He was short again. Unfortunate.

And also he was left with many questions. Why was he a Houndour? And where... where was Alpha? Was this related to... What was that word he'd felt brush his spirit... Forlas? A place, somewhere. Nowhere he knew.

Drawing a deep breath, he scented the air but detected very little- no wait, there was something. Mustelid, maybe. In the absence of any other useful information, he decided to head in the direction. He thought he spied a flash of blue among the white and ice and snow.

He let out a loud bark, both a 'hello' and a 'who's there'?

    Alpha... where are you?

Ch09: Guardian of the Wastes New
  • A sort of noise almost like a shout was the first thing to jar his brain back into working. One second he’d been starring at what looked almost like a ruined settlement, and then… Ah, hell. Getting kicked out of a dungeon was never a fun experience. Archie groaned, kneading a spot in his temple where a headache was starting to develop. It was still cold and snowy, which meant even outside of the dungeon they were still in real danger of hypothermia. Better get up and get moving, then, before the chill had a chance to work its way into his system again.

The Dewott sat up, and took in his surroundings. Surrounded by a dense fog, with their backs to a sheer cliff. A set of fresh tracks nearby lead deeper into the fog, a potential trail for them to follow was promising. There was the Houndour, and there was the Shinx…

Wait, that wasn’t a Shinx, the shape and color was wrong. That was-!

Archie scrambled to his feet, nearly tripping over himself as he made his way to the Electrike’s side.

    “Koa! Hey, are you alright?”

He reached out a paw and gave the canine a careful shake, but he wasn’t the first one to stir. Instead, another figure the Dewott hadn’t noticed at first pushed themselves off the ground muttering obscenities.

“Of course he’s fine, do I honestly look like I could do anything to-” the figure, a Buizel, grumbled, only to pause when he got a good look at the Dewott. His jaw dropped open, then worked a bit while he struggled to find the words. “No fuckin’ way.”

Then Archie realized that he did, in fact, know that voice. And those black stained paws and tail.

    “Dustin!?”
