• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

If you made a video game

If you got to make a game, for any console, with any kind of theme, with any amount of anything, what would the game be about? Describe as close as following things:

-The game's name. And why it would be named that.

-the story of the game. Remember: the more original-er the better.

-the gameplay. Explain the objective, the things you do in the game, the
boss battles, etc.

-the graphics. What the playing area would look like, and such.

-the music: expect from classic gaming music, such as the sad music at moments where a main character die in a cutscene, what music would you use?

In my case:

-Game name: Unnatural Stitches, the reason of the name is explained in the story, really.

-Story: The year is 2050, and a nuclear war have devastated half of planet earth, killing 2/3 of the human population, and caused 0.5/3 to mutate into cannibalistic freaks, the remaining 0.5/3 of the humans are living in the only remaining moved to the only piece of living which isn't destroyed, Italy, France and Spain. Davis Wyland, a normal late-teenager, is attacked by a psychopath during the night, as he goes home. The psychopath, who dragged Davis into a alley, found a needle on the ground, and uses it to torture Davis, shoving it into his throat, but the needle is actually a mystical item created by a man known as "The Tailor" who have practiced a sort of magical dark art, which causes him to mutate into a giant, voodoo doll-like creature, with a "X" mouth, big white blank eyes and a stitch going through the middle of the body, with the left half being made of a black fabric, while the other half of it being yellow-pale. The Tailor appears, and explains to Davis is what he calls a "Neutral marionette", a creature that is as the name states, neutral. the Tailor explains the objective of a Neutral marionette, which either to save humans from the nuclear freaks, or to kill EVERYTHING in their path.

-Gameplay: The gameplay is about fighting, either killing the freakish cannibals outside of the "living region" putting their spirits to rest, as a path of the good. Or kill everything, and devour their immortal souls, ending their existing completely, as the path of the evil. Depending on what you choose, will change the game drastically, if you go down the path of evil, you turn into a "Twisted Doll", turning more ferociously looking, and being more and more covered by black fabric the more evil you are. While the good is the opposite, being good, saving people from outlaws and freaks turn you into a "Innocent Puppet" becoming less and less ferociously looking, while the colour of the fabric turns more and more into yellow-pale. There's no need to buy weapons, as they grow out of your body, and the weapons inside you also change depending on what you do. If you kill everything, your weapon changes to a form that works good with killing everything, such as scythes, two handed swords, claws and so on. While if you defend the innocent people, your weapon changes to things such as broadswords, bladed shields and such. How humans looked at you would also change with what you did, if you kill everyone, people will run away in fear when they meet you, polices will try to kill you, and everyone will think of you like a sick monster, if you save people, you might be able to WALK AROUND on the streets at day, without no one caring, and small children could even hug you, looking at you like a giant teddy bear. the boss fights would either be stronger freaks, twisted beyond our imagination. Or strong humans, martial arts experts, mafia bosses and such.

-graphics: The game would be a combination of dark themed, like Silent Hill, and suburban, like Grand theft Auto. The cities you live in would be pretty modern, with big buildings, skyscrapers and such, big cities that you got to run around in. The barren wastelands would be a dead place, with no trees, no grass, and the only source of liquids would be the remaining pools of water, filled with nuclear waste, the freaks living there would be, as I noted earlier, twisted out of imagination. The game would be really violent, and include combos that involve crushing enemy skulls, cracking up their chest and ripping their vital organs while they are alive, ripping off someones arm and skewer him with it, so the game would be like 18+.

-music: I'd like to have music by Serj Tankian, Scars on Broadway and the entire System of A Down.

Now, what would your game be about?

Let me just warn others that my game ideas will probably not be terribly original. :P

- Name: Fatherland, the game concerns two separate hypothetical timelines concerning Nazi Germany.

- Story(ies):
Fatherland Campaign:
- Fall Gelb (Attack through the Ardennes to cut off Allied troops)
- Fall Rot (Attack into France itself)
- Operation Sealion (Invasion of Britain, from Dover to London)
- Operation Mercury (Airborne assault on Crete)
- North Africa (Axis forces cross the Suez, occupy the Middle East)
- Eastern Front (German triumph over the USSR, some partisan fighting missions afterward)

Operation Valkyrie: A little campaign where the player first fights off Allied paratroopers, staving off Operation Market Garden. Afterward, the player joins another plot to kill Hitler, eliminate Nazi party power, and setup a military dictatorship which will seek peace with the Western Allies, and so enemies from then on are mainly SS units resisting the Wehrmacht.

- Gameplay: Haven't really got that much special in mind. I would try and use a Red Orchestra/Insurgency level of realism, and try to make it difficult, and also use a lot of the squad features from Brothers in Arms, to try and make it even more tricky to play and realistic.

- Graphics: Most art design here would be put into the urban settings of the game, especially the English locales, the towns along the way from Dover to London, and London itself would get lots of detail, in the relevant campaign. Partly-bombed out, but not totally knocked flat. The Soviet cities wouldn't be neglected by any means, though. The Dutch cities featured during the Operation Market Garden segment of the Operation Valkyrie campaign would get about as much attention as the English cities. Rural settings I wouldn't be as concerned about, but Crete should be rendered nicely.

- Music: I would avoid background music for the most part. However, there will be sources of music within the game, such as radios and phonographs. They would play, besides news broadcasts, period music of course, German, British, Russian, and Dutch songs of the time, or folk songs. And, of course, nationalistic music.
