Frontier Town Industrial Park

Ch01: After Hours [Lyle & Mhynt]
  • Lyle shuffled off along the streets of the Industrial Park after a long day. He'd finally lined up an apprenticeship at the local glassworks, and even if most of the time since then had been spent just getting oriented, he'd already drawn a few remarks over how naturally he seemed to be taking to the basics.

Guess that was a sign that he hadn't completely forgotten everything he'd learned from his parents. Even if he wasn't going to hold his breath on them praising him for how far he'd come anytime soon.

He continued on, the Sun Stone Saloon was a bit of a walk from here, but it was a popular hangout for all sorts of Pokémon who seemed to have an interest in this town. Including a few who seemed like they'd be trouble, of the sort that paid well. But the drinks and crowd-watching slipped from his mind as there off to the side of the path was a bucket of water.

With a Treecko just sitting in it, deep in thought and seemingly not minding any of the surrounding world.

"Er... Treecko? What are you doing?"

    Ch01: Astrid and Gladion
  • Astrid had come the first she'd heard of a 'park'. Hah. How silly she'd been.

She clicked her tongue at every ironclad warehouse she passed between. Knocked her tails together at the squeaky wheels of wagons rolling in the distance. Forced the sawdust from her throat amidst the hubbub of restless progress. Even peeked through a few windows to add some spice to a bland afternoon, one that had been no less confusing than the previous several.

Then she saw a familiar...ly masked face. Any other new arrival she might've mistaken for a young adult frolicking in the paradise of hard labor, but clearly not this guy.

"Oh! Hi!" Astrid said suddenly, as if startled from a daydream. "You're one of the... helmet... fellas. Sorry, um, forgot your name. I'm Astrid."

She walked all the way up to his feet, and he was... fucking huge. Or. Well, no, actually. She was just tiny.

Ch02: Feathered Fellas, But Not Birds [Nova & Silver]
  • The past few days had been nothing more than a stream of events blurring together. Between the disastrous aftermath of the wagon and the new plan to check out the distant Blaguarro, the team of multiversal misfits had plenty to do and stuff to sort through.

Silver had been checking things out from the sidelines, not wanting to end in the middle of the crossfire between the reckless heroes and the critical who-stayed-home. He didn’t really have a Ponyta in that race, anyway, and he could see the reasoning of both sides. So, neutrality be it.

But there was one matter that bothered him more than the new fracture inside the team, and that was the deal with Shadow Pokémon.

Were they artificial? Were they natural? If they were artificial, then were those human supremacists responsible? Could some of those humans be members of Team Rocket? Team Cyber? Some other criminal syndicate?

“What a pain in the butt…” mumbled Silver to himself, annoyed by the lack of answers and organization, and shook his head. “Hmph! Just why can’t some humans mind their own business and must mess up with other worlds? Stupid idiots with their stupid inflated ego…”

It was only when he stopped pondering for half a second that he realized he had reached the industrial park. He blinked, then checked out his surroundings. Not exactly the greenest place to meditate or find some mental peace, but the sight of hardworking ‘mons had its own charm.

“…At least they’re doing something constructive!”

So, he dismissed the troubles of the team for the time being and watched absentmindedly the ongoing work, his ear and eyes focused on the various random sounds and movements.

Ch02 Finale ~ An Adequately Reasoned Discussion
  • As promised, Dakota had indeed arranged a meeting with his investigative contact, a Mr Nolan. The letter inviting the party was hand-delivered by a friendly, polite Golett in a courier's cap. It specified a time in the early evening, and the administrative offices of a particular industrial facility in the north side of town, where the group was to meet this Nolan. The letter was well-penned, short, and to the point.

Nearby the 'Keldurr & Sons warehouses and the Frontier Foundations woodshops and masonries, there was a smoke-spewing edifice to industry signposted as 'Steel Spirit Foundry'. The various tradesmon and labourers in the area were happy to direct any group of 'mon that looked poorly-oriented towards their destination, and it was inside this towering building of brick and stone that a small corner offices could be found.

Apparently still hard at work inside was a tall, dark-coated lizard wearing spectacles, working under a dim incandescent lightbulb.

    [Ch03] Muzzles and Murderers
  • It wasn't exactly dealing with Shadow 'mon, but being this little bit of information was found while the group was looking for Terminal Two, she supposed it was related.

When she'd heard about the zweilous with its second head chained shut, Odette thought that half of the group was just fucking with her. Some funny joke to mess with the mawile with her second head chained shut. But, she quickly realized that none of them were actually joking, leaving her interest completely and totally piqued.

Another two headed 'mon with it's second head chained shut? Near Terminal Two? She wasn't sure what exactly she was looking to get out of meeting such a person. Comraderie? Questions answered? Who fucking knew. She just knew she desperately wanted to at least catch a glimpse of him.

Nobody had any real idea where he was going to turn up, just info saying he was asked to come to Frontier Town. And where else would an elusive dual-headed 'mon show up but the industrial park (at least, she hoped that's where he would be)?

Stopping her trek, she wiped some sweat off her brow. "I need to invest in a fucking umbrella," she grumbled to herself.

Ch04: Specters of an Argument [Odette and Kimiko]
  • Odette was in one of her moods. One of her "walk aimlessly, somewhere" moods. She didn't want to sit around and idly drink tea at Sun Stone, she didn't feel like training, and she sure as shit didn't feel like trying to sort her thoughts. There were far too many of those, and she wasn't quite sure where to start with that. She supposed her prominent concerns were when or if she'd be contacted for a Covenant job, and when or if she could move her things over to Sun Stone. Because gods, she couldn't spend another night in Drungfield's. Too much doctor's office exposure over the course of a few days, and she was over it.

When she ended up in the industrial district, she wasn't sure. She hadn't noticed where she was until she looked up and was met with the sight of an empty lot of scrap metal. Jawile started twitching, and the healing injuries under her thirtieth round of fresh bandages ached under the movement. She cringed and jerked at a chain hanging down over her shoulder. "You calm your ass," she snapped. They'd been so much rowdier since the altercation with Seth; it almost concerned her...

But, still. It wasn't like any of it was being used right now. No 'mon around in her immediate sightline. With a sigh, and a shake of her head, she pulled out her key and started undoing the chains. She didn't get very far into it when she caught movement in her peripheral vision.

    Ch04: Anger (Mis)Management [Koa&Odette]
  • Crack! The rock shattered from Koa's blow, sending shards flying and kicking up a cloud of dust. His pelt was practically drenched in dust by now, but he barely noticed. Around him were scattered more broken boulders. His mind buzzed and his thoughts churned endlessly. Lips drawn into a snarl, he stalked towards another boulder, then struck a flurry of blows, only managing to send a few cracks across it.

Not good enough. He pictured Ignatius smug beak, then Alex's coy grin. Training with Ridley going all wrong. Drapion's empty cell. Energy fluttered inside him, like a cool wind, and gathered inside his paw. With a furious howl, he surged at the boulder and slammed his fist into it. It exploded. Better. Electricity coated his body and he hurled himself at one of the remaining pieces of rock, breaking it more. He paused, panting, the knot in his chest tightening.

He spun and smacked a chunk of rock, sending it flying.

Ch04: Like Chimeras (Gladion and Nova)
  • Gladion ducked into the industrial park for a moment to himself. It wasn’t a pretty place, but when he needed somewhere with room to breathe that was still comfortably away from the public eye it always served well.

Today, though, he heard a pair of talons and paws making their way towards him, pretty close let in-sync for two people…

    “Nova? That you?”

[Ch08] OH NO, SHE'S HOT (Odette Solo)
  • As she watched another slab of metal melt away under the heat of Fiery Wrath, Odette scoffed in disbelief. The fact that she was picking up on the move so quickly, compared to every other move she'd learned since arriving in Forlas, both tickled and perplexed her. It was a god's move, was it not? Both in her world and here. There was no escaping it. She had a god's move at her fingertips and was executing it like nothing, despite how drained she actually was.

Things just kept coming from every direction, exacerbating the sheer amount of static rattling about in her skull. Growing pains at Sun Stone, recovering from the battle with Alexander, the amount of time she was now spending in Novelux, Covenant infiltration, so many conflicting thoughts, absolutely nagging feelings...

Without music to keep her company, all she had was the metal in the industrial district and more firepower than she'd ever had before. After figuring out a way to channel the fire into Jawile, she was having a literal blast watching her second mouth breathe the dark fire. Just like Odile did back home.

Despite the way it tickled her, she still didn't feel much better. There was still far too much to dwell on, far too much weighing her down. No matter how many bits of metal she watched melt down into magma, and no matter how many decrepit warehouses she blasted through, she felt no different. She felt her frustration growing along with the force behind her attacks.

Setting sights on a bigger piece of scrap metal, she inhaled the deepest breath she could muster. As she filled her lungs, she focused on channeling every last bothersome memory and thought into her hit. She remembered the Combs, and Kimiko. The battle. She remembered her conversation with Andre. She remembered spilling her guts to Koa.

Her better recollections also trickled in. Commiserating with Dave over cults, and Bellatrix over Forlas happenings. The unexpected outing with Nolan. Her moment in the gardens with Steven.

It had all dammed up inside her mind. She was a machine, overheating. That much was certain by the way the steam snaked off her skin, and the way the sweat beaded up on her forehead while the heat accumulated inside of her.

Just before it became unbearable, she released a scream that reverberated through the park, and an explosive flame was quick to follow. It engulfed its target in no time flat, but the sheer area of the attack caused the embers to recoil backward toward Odette, and they curved around her, only licking at her skin with a surprisingly painless fervor. Nonetheless, she braced on instinct.

    Too rough, she thought regretfully.

However, when the smoke and embers cleared, she felt...lighter. Clearer.

    Taller.

Something had shifted. In the cursory glance she gave to the area, she noticed that her horizon line was much...higher than it had been to start. Looking down at her legs, she saw that her dress no longer dusted the sand, and there was now some length to them. Tilting her head also made her realize that, despite her new sense of clarity, there was a heavier weight pulling against Jawile's stem.

"What the--" she breathed as she rushed over to a piece of metal that seemed slightly more reflective than the rest.

To her complete and utter surprise, what stared back at her was a changed form. An evolved form.

Longer legs. A defined figure. Jawile had elongated at least another two feet, with their bottom lip now brushing the ground while just sitting at a rest position. They had somehow grown more teeth than they had to start, too. Most striking of all, however, were the two new tiny jaws that had sprouted at the ends of her tassels.

She slowly brought her hands to her face, trying to process just what the fuck she was looking at. She'd changed? She didn't think mawile could even do that, but unless she was having a psychotic break, her reflection couldn't have been lying to her.

"Oh my gods,” she muttered, patting down her torso. "I'm hot."

Amazingly, the two additions to her tertiary mouths chimed in.

    "Yes! Yes! Super hot!"

    "...super hot!"

She momentarily frowned at their intrusion. That was going to take some getting used to, but she supposed it was better than--

"Now is the perfect time to find somebody to kiss you! Aren't you feeling deprived of sugar? It's been a while!"

    "...a while!"

"Okay," she said, rolling her eyes at her own shitty luck. "You're getting chains too." Somehow, having two smaller heads to spew her horny thoughts was worse than Jawile's lone bullshit. She really couldn't catch a break.

But, with her mind now clear...she didn't mind it for the time being. With her form having reached an evident new level of power, she couldn't be upset. This was the lightest, the coolest, she'd felt in weeks.

Sighing, she slanted one more look at her new reflection, turning to admire her backside, and her new silhouette. It was there she noticed just how snug her dress had gotten, and she groaned.

"And I see a trip to the tailor in my future now, too."
