So I decided to make this thing.
I recently restarted my Platinum, trying to think of what kind of challenge to do, or to just play it for fun. And then I settled on making it a story from the trainer's point of view. This will be based on Platinum, obviously, so there will be many similarities and differences from the game.

So basically this will be an LP in writing. Also, at first the chapters will probably only be a few paragraphs long, but the later ones may be longer. So...

Kanto region."
I turned off the television with distaste. Why did I even watch that? I got up to see what Mom was doing, but before I even made it halfway towards the stairs Barry appeared at the top. Some things you should know about Barry; He has this gigantic piece of blonde hair on his head; Normally wears an orange striped shirt; and is kind of small for his age. "Hey Dar!" he shouted, "Did you just see the TV? Sure you did!" Another thing you should know: Barry never stops yelling. I looked at him confusedly. "Wait a minute, if it just ended how could you ha-" "Professor Rowan's that really important guy who studies Pokemon, right?" Barry interrupted, "That means he must have lots and lots of Pokemon. So, if we ask him, I bet he'd give us Pokemon!"
Barry looked over my shoulder, and then ran towards my computer. "Oh, hey! Is this a new PC?!" I responded with a quick slap to my forehead. "Dear lord, Barry." He looked back at me and asked, "Uh... Where was I?" He ran back over. "Oh, right, right! We're going to see Professor Rowan and get some Pokemon. I'll be waiting outside." He got a more serious face and said, "Got it, Dar? If you're late, I'm fining you $10 million!" He ran back down the stairs, and I assumed he was already outside of town.
As I reached the bottom of the stairs, Mom spotted me and got up off the couch. "Dar!" she said, "Barry already left." "I figured as much," I responded. I went around her and ran towards the door. Just as I was leaving, I heard her say something I didn't quite hear, probably "Don't go into tall grass!" like she's told me a million times.
As I walk outside and past Barry's house, I feel a sudden pain on the side of my head, and fall over. I look over and see Barry. Of course. "What was that about?!" he shouted, and looked up. "Oh, hey, Dar! I'm going to see Professor Rowan!" I sighed. "Barry, we've been over this." "Whatever! I'll be waiting on the road! It's a $10 million fine if you're late!" He ran towards Route 201, and I followed behind. Barry walked over to the tall grass that led to Sandgem town, and stopped. "Wait, we can't go into the tall grass. Don't worry! I have a brilliant idea! You know how wild Pokemon jump out when you walk into tall grass? So, what you do is, you scoot over to the next patch of grass before any wild Pokemon appear!" I looked at him oddly, not quite understanding his logic. "So your big plan to not run through any tall grass... is to run through tall grass? Simply brilliant." He apparently didn't catch my sarcasm, and ran at top speed toward the tall grass.
"HOLD IT!" I heard a voice behind me, and saw a white-haired old man walk up to us. With a stern voice, he said to us, "You two don't seem to have any Pokemon between you? Then what is the meaning of going into tall grass?" I stared at him blankly. "Hey Dar," Barry said at an unusually quiet tone. "This old guy... It's Professor Rowan, isn't it? What's he doing here...?" The Professor walked a few paces away from us, and mumbled something I couldn't understand. He walked back, and said "You two. You really love Pokemon, do you?" Both me and Barry nodded. "I will ask you once again," Rowan stated, "You two, you truly love Pokemon, do you?" This time Barry spoke up. "You can ask a hundred times! The answer will never change! We'll both answer a hundred times, we love Pokemon! Right, Dar!" I nodded again. "Of course."
Rowan sighed, and said, "A pair of reckless kids who foolishly tried to enter tall grass without Pokemon of their own...? It worries me what people like that would do with Pokemon." Barry looked appalled by this. "...Uh... Well, I, uh... Well, then forget about me, but give one to my friend here! I was the one about to run into the tall grass, not him." That definitely made my head turn. The Professor looked just as surprised. "How big of you... Very well, then! I shall entrust you with your own Pokemon! However! You must promise me you will never recklessly endanger yourself like that again. Now then..." He looked around, as if searching for something. Soon after, a young girl about my age walked up behind Rowan. "Professor Rowan," she said, "You left you briefcase at the lake!" She set it down, and then noticed me and Barry. "Oh? Is something wrong here?"
"Ah! There it is!" replied Professor Rowan, "Dawn, nice work. What I was about to do was to entrust these two with their own Pokemon!" Dawn looked at him with is a startled look. "Pardon?! Those Pokemon are very hard to replace. Are you sure about giving them away?" I looked at her with a slightly annoyed face. "Shut up, lady. This isn't your decision." Professor Rowan gave me another stern look, and then turned back to Dawn. "We exist side by side with Pokemon. There comes a time when people should meet Pokemon. There is a world that should be explored together. For them, today is that time." He turned back to us. "Go on! Open the briefcase and choose a Pokemon!" Barry got his usual excited/heavily caffeinated look on his face. "Really?! The time has finally come!" He turned to me and said, "You can choose first, Dar. I'm practically a grown-up. I have to show some class here." I smiled. "Keep dreaming, Barry." I walked up to the briefcase, anticipating what might be inside.
So that's the start, I guess.
Tell me which Pokemon to get as my starter, and what to get on the next few routes!

Differences:
- My character will not be silent.
- Some of the dialog will be different, mostly when I'm not writing as I'm playing, or don't feel it's important.
Similarities:
- It's possible that I won't finish.
- The Pokemon caught.
- Items will be found in Pokeballs.
So basically this will be an LP in writing. Also, at first the chapters will probably only be a few paragraphs long, but the later ones may be longer. So...
