• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

In the 90s a game called Transport Tycoon Deluxe came out. It’s like Roller Coaster or Zoo Tycoon in that you start with a company and build in order to make a profit. OpenTTD is an open source remake of this game (Which means free!). You build roads, railways, docks and airports in order to transport different commodities and resources from place to place. As time passes, faster and better vehicles are invented which cost more but make money faster. It doesn’t feel like much of a change during the game but once you’ve been using electric trains and then start a new game you then realise how agonisingly slow the steam trains used to go.

I really like trains, okay! I have way too much fun making the tracks, especially if they’re really complicated but still neat-looking. Though signals are quite complicated and are frustrating when you don’t get them right. There are other vehicles other than trains, though I don’t much use boats since there’s not much water on the maps I play on. The maps can be randomly generated or you can load maps based off of real-world locations which can be interesting.

I first played this game a while ago but couldn’t get into it at first and multiplayer didn’t work. Then my brother came home from uni for the summer and I found out he had it too and then I started playing it much more. The single player is pretty fun but when competing against other (non-AI) players it gets more challenging. It can get really fun at times, I think it’s worth checking out.
