• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    What are you reading?

Just read a self-published novel that my cousin wrote. I got him to sign it for me, which made him somewhat happy. Now I'd like to read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair and maybe some of Tolkien's works.

    CAUSE I'M SWEETER THAN SIXTEEN!~

I know this is utterly, unacceptably, unapologetically late, but happy (belated) birthday :)

If the whole world were atheist...

There's been plenty of times where religion has been used as an excuse to suppress dissent, inhibit scientific development, wage war, and slaughter people; but it's probably not the only excuse available. I don't see how. The argument is that religion in and of itself blocks certain...

    Heroism

Heroes are people who put others before themselves. The biggest examples are the dramatic ones like firefighters and policemen, but one doesn't necessarily have to put oneself in danger to be a hero. I consider teachers to be heroes, given what they have to deal with and the importance of...

If the whole world were atheist...

If the entire world were atheist, I'd imagine it'd be like that scene in Catch-22 where the main character Yossarian (who is an atheist) and another character (who is also an atheist) argue over the nature of the God that they don't believe in. One of them says that the non-existant God is...

    Are you in a relationship?

My girlfriend lives halfway across the United States, and I've been personally closer to her than to anyone I've known "in real life." Well, besides my parents.

    Are you in a relationship?

Already met her last summer. We had fun together.

    Mystic Wish- a Parody Website

The guidelines say "you should only post one thread about your site per month at the most" so I suppose it's perfectly acceptable to repost advertisement threads? Anyway, onto the site. Mixed feelings about this one, which is more than I can say about most other stuff advertised here. On the...

Looking for help from fairly successful webmasters...

In 2009, most of the really simple things have already been done. The first Pokemon fansites in 1999 and 2000 didn't have this problem, because they were the first. You'll have to dig deep to find something new and original. I can't really suggest anything, of course.

    Oh dear god....

Oh, great. A Google operating system. Who didn't expect this? I wish them well, but I think I'll stick with Ubuntu for the time being.

    Are you in a relationship?

I got a girlfriend on January 5, 2008 and I've been with her for just over 18 months now. It's a long distance relationship and I honestly wish I could actually interact with her, but I truly love her. She's a master spriter and a great person to talk to when I'm not feeling that great.

And now for some good news

So yeah I posted that bitchy rant yesterday titled "and I was having a good day until..." and this is exactly why I was having a good day :) Firstly, I've been in the running for an internship job for about a week now. It's with this company, who've just opened up an office nearby. They do all...

    making a pokemon mmorpg/website??

When someone gives you advice, you're well advised to take it. Departure Song's being an ass, of course, but if you have an attitude like that then he's probably right. On the other hand, I'm willing to help, but you have to give me a reason to. You really should bone up on grammar and...

Odd happenings in the Introduction Threads

As a Texan, I'm obligated to use that word. Sorry. Now, if only I could find my cowboy hat... it's gotta be around here somewhere :/

I know it's "fun," I'm just saying how I feel about those games. No one should be obliged to not play their favorite game because Number 100 doesn't like it. Remind me to never express an opinion on an Internet forum again. I seem to have a bad habit of doing that.

He's a secret agent. Well, at least in the alternate universe series I'm working on he is.

    BBCode Parser

Well, the way MyBB does that is that, instead of using "b" and "i" tags, it uses span tags like so <span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-style: italic;">foo</span></span> That way, if the tags are improperly nested, it doesn't matter because they're both the same type of HTML tag...
  19. Abwayax

    BBCode Parser

That's because you nested the tags wrong in the first place. If you open "b" before "i", you close out "i" before closing "b." foo becomes <b><i>foo</i></b>, which is valid HTML.

Oh and as for gender neutrality, Taylor is a unisex name and last I checked using the masculine pronoun for a person of indeterminate gender was acceptable. I suppose the singular they would have worked there as well, though.
