• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Hrrmmmm. I can't help but like... not think the mafia is terribly likely to be inactive here? The inactives are probably people who are less likely to be checking the forums at all, but RNP was quite active, and at least some of the inactives are people he knows who joined to take part in the...

Yeah, that's correct - if I lose a life tonight I will receive my result on Stryke, and then tomorrow night I would receive my result on the person I targeted this night.

Only just noticed that Stryke did in fact lose a life at the end of the original day phase, so rather than day extension it is indeed more like an extra day (that happens to take place simultaneously with a night phase). Which, yeah, is definitely a towny power.

Talking through the night... Hrmm. It does feel somewhat counterintuitive for mafia, in the sense that ultimately what this power is doing is giving town more time to discuss and deliberate before deciding on a target. At the same time, we're seeing right now how if Stryke were mafia this'd be a...

Yeah... I'd at least like to hear more from the inactives about what they think about the situation. @Dodge @Flora @MrDulfin @CerealBowlby And Novae, any further thoughts?

I'm also going Stryke, not seeing a better option at the moment.

M&F confirmed. No need to be sorry, it makes sense you did what you did <3

(i.e. I think the phrasing is probably suggesting that the power activates at the end of a night if at that point I have one life left, rather than the power being permanently enabled once I was down to one life.)

Yeah, I think that's what's going on. As I mentioned earlier, I rechecked my role PM and the exact phrasing is probably suggesting that the Receipts power only activates when I have one life left. No reason you should've known that, though! As a townie, obviously you just figured giving me an...

What attracted my suspicion to Stryke was not Stryke theorizing RNP's towniness! It was 1) initially vibes, and then 2) RNP voting to save Stryke, not the other way around.

True, it's definitely possible the life-restoring was a townie (which is definitely what I first assumed). The possibility of it as a mafia power made to disable power roles is tantalizing and very interesting to me but probably not favored by Occam's razor. I guess the thing that makes me sort...

Dies Twice Mafia - Game Thread

I took a look at my role PM and the exact phrasing used probably suggests it is indeed the case that Receipts is disabled if I gain a life back (I have also asked for clarification). However, I also looked back and the way I described my power when I claimed did not make it sound like it would...

I could just be tunneling/confbiasing here, I feel like everything I'm seeing right now is just further confirmation that the mafia was RNP and Stryke which was already what I thought, but at least that's where I'm at at this point. Would love to hear what others think about all this, though, if...

As a mild counterpoint, something that occurred to me reading my night action non-result is that potentially the explanation for the results explicitly specifying who they're for could just be that normally this role is expected to return results potentially on a several-night delay, so...

I really don't think it makes a lot of sense for a town RNP to describe his role as "becoming dangerous" when he loses a life if what it does is give him a one-shot ability to give someone a life back. The use of "becoming" kind of suggests the additional power isn't a one-time thing (it...

Potentially it’s a one-off someone has, or else a mafia power that they’d only use when they determine it’s advantageous to them.

Well, there’s pretty much no way we have a regular doctor that just gives out an extra life to whoever they target, because then the expected number of players doesn’t change in the night until the doctor fully goes down, right? Even if they can’t heal someone beyond two lives, all they have to...
