[09] blazheirio889 vs Blastoise

Hah, you showed that twit who was boss. Fire a Focus Blast into the hole. Follow with a couple of Vacuum Waves. If, at any time, he comes out of the hole, switch to Aura Spheres. Also, if he's in the hole and you feel up to it, replace your last action with Fly. (Red-and-Black Butterfly Wings agogo)

Reposting because apparently, it didn't show up.

You're still protected by the damage cap, Resin, but I'd prefer it if you took minimal damage. So, it's combotiem!

Wait until Emo has fired the Focus Blast into the hole, and then come up and strike him with Dig. After that, gimme a Quick Attack + Force Palm to knock off the rest of his health.

- Agitated and waiting for Resin to emerge. Taunted (2 more actions). -1 Speed

Emo stops his pacing upon hearing his trainer's commands. Now this is more like it. Grinning, the smeargle draws a large circle in the air in front of him, the paint flowing from his tail shifting to a bright golden-brown color as he traces the shape in the air. Placing one hand on either side of the circle as though gripping a steering wheel, Emo channels fighting energy into the container he's created until the air between his palms fizzes and glows with pure energy. Emo rocks back on his heels, then swings his arms forward and tosses the ball of power into Resin's hole. It easily blasts aside the debris Emo had plugged it with last round and continues on to strike Resin, slamming the smeargle up against the back of his tunnel and searing his skin with untamed energy.

Resin's temporary psychic-type protection cushions the blow a bit, and the smeargle is left merely shaken as the focus blast dissipates. The air is hazy with dust, the last remains of the stone and earth Emo had knocked into the tunnel, and Resin's eyes water as he traces a circle on the wall next to him with his brush. Above, Emo looks down in surprise as a neat hole appears on the ground next to him; a moment later Resin comes charging up the tunnel and tackles his opponent to the ground.

A dazed Emo is only just starting to collect himself as Resin starts preparing for her next attack. Jumping back a pace to give himself room for the short run-up necessary to get his quick attack going, Resin begins drawing a pair of interlocking symbols on the back of one paw. Emo has just risen to one knee when the other smeargle darts forward in a creamy blur, one paw outstretched. Emo yelps and drops back to the ground, curling up into a protective ball. Resin's force palm passes through the empty air where he had expected Emo's chest to be; excess momentum carries him forward, and he trips over his opponent, sprawling awkwardly on the floor beyond, his force palm connecting with the floor with a flash of energy and cracking the rocky ground and his snout making its own assault on the floor a second after.

Recovering his dignity somewhat, Emo scrambles back to his feet while Resin continues to lie flat on his face, groaning. Once again Emo traces a circle in the air, but this time paint continues to flow from his tail, filling it out into a sphere of green and blue energy. Resin has only just risen to hands and knees when Emo slaps the now-complete aura sphere with his brush, sending it slamming into the other smeargle's back.

As Emo's anger ebbs away, he sways a bit where he stands, the full brunt of his injuries making themselves known. He aches all over, and he's not sure how much more punishment he'll be able to take. Gritting his teeth, he raises his paintbrush again, preparing another aura sphere to deliver to Resin while the other smeargle is still recovering from his combo. This time Resin is able to regain his feet and brace himself for the attack, but despite his resistance, he's clearly still not happy as the energy from the aura sphere dissipates. The two smeargle stare one another down, battered and beginning to tire. The result of the battle is still up in the air, but one thing is for sure--the end won't be long in coming.

Terrain Notes
A small hole, maybe two feet in diameter, has appeared near the center of the arena. A ragged chunk has been taken out of one edge of it. There is now a second hole of about the same size a couple of feet behind Emo and perhaps a yard away from the first hole.

Final Notes
- The focus blast did less damage than usual because it expended some energy to smash through the debris in Resin's tunnel.
- Resin's combo missed.
- blazheirio889 attacks first next round.

Oh come on, you've gotta be kidding me. RNG gods, what have I ever done to you T.T see this is why I should've given you Aerial Ace

...well, whatever. We can still manage on what we have here. Quick Attack alone should be enough to knock out Emo thanks to our attack boosts, so just keep on spamming it. If Emo Protects, wait until it's faded, and then strike.

- On his last legs.

Emo settles down onto the cool rock, wrapping his tail around himself and closing his eyes. As he does so, Resin swipes a couple of hasty marks on the back of his paw, then rushes forward at incredible speed, delivering a lightning-fast punch to his opponent's face. The smeargle's strength, enhanced by his swords dances, is enough to knock Emo flying; he lands heavily about a meter away from he was seated, out cold.

That's our last late-entry match cleared up, then, with blazheirio889 as the victor. She gets $20 and a spot in the next round for winning, Blastoise gets $10, and I get $15. Best of luck in future battles to the both of you.

Nice match, Blastoise! I have to admit, it was quite a nervewracking battle. Good luck in any future tournaments you'd like to enter :)
